A big thank you to those who gave feedback on my time slot issue. As a result I have decided to take the late night slot and, hopefully, work my way back up to a better time slot eventually :)

Also, I forgot to post the prediction contest results following Slammiversary so I'm going to correct that and post them now:

The winner of the prediction contest is James The Animator with 19 hits

Second place goes to Satyr24 with 18 hits

And Mootinie takes third place with 16 hits

Congratulations to James The Animator on picking up the win and you will receive a prize in your inbox in the near future.

And, as always, thank you to everyone who follows and/or predicts on this diary. I greatly appreciate it.

Week 3, June, 2013

Live from Charlotte Harbor Center in Punta Gorda, Florida

Attendance: 1.739

Announcers: Mike Tenay and Taz

yPzBKmus.jpg

This week's edition of Impact kicks off with the owner of TNA, Eric Bischoff, making his way to the ring as Mike Tenay wonders what Bischoff's announcement might be. Bischoff gets on the mic and announces that two weeks from tomorrow night, on a Friday, TNA will have a "One Night Only" pay per view event in which all titles will be on the line. But as if that wasn't enough, Bischoff also announces that the main event of One Night Only will feature the return of the King of the Moutain match with a future World Heavyweight Championship title shot on the line!

qjuU40Qs.jpgSYyMyqWs.jpg

Bischoff is then interrupted as the Aces & Eights music hits and the TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Bully Ray, makes his way down to the ring along with Brooke. Bully has a mic of his own and he says that he's turned back the challenges of both Sting and Kurt Angle, but Bischoff remains determined to keep throwing his favorites at Bully in the hopes that one of them will get lucky. Bully tells Bischoff that none of them are ever going to get lucky, because it takes a lot more than luck to beat Bully Ray. Bully then demands to know who he will be facing at this One Night Only event, and it just so happens that Bischoff already has the challenger ready to go...60)

tvhBGpws.jpg

James Storm's music then hits and "The Cowboy" makes his way out from the back and down to the ring. Once in the ring, Storm grabs a mic and says that, just in case Bully hasn't quite figured it out yet, he's looking at his One Night Only opponent--sorry about your damn luck! Bully tells Storm that he will never beat him, but Storm replies that in just two weeks time, he'll be the brand new TNA World Heavyweight Champion! Bully and Storm stare each other down, but Bully then eventually backs off and leaves the ring as Mike Tenay hypes up the HUGE main event that will take place at TNA: One Night Only! (60)

8eiV8l8s.jpg4UJwwICs.jpg

We cut to the backstage area where Kurt Angle and Hulk Hogan are talking and Angle is checking up on Hogan after what happened at Slammiversary, but Hogan assures Angle that he's just fine. Hogan then says that he wanted to talk to Angle about this King of the Mountain match, saying that since the winner will receive a future World Title shot, Hogan wants to make sure they get someone in there who will represent TNA as a company the right way. Hogan says that Bischoff granted him the authority to put one guy in the match and Hogan wants that guy to be Kurt Angle. Angle accepts and vows to do everything in his power to win the match for TNA. (67)

TNA Television Title

In our first match of the night Devon defends the TNA Television Title against Sonjay Dutt, who is making his return from injury here tonight. Sonjay looks good early on as it appears he has recovered fully from his injury, but he is not used to dealing with the likes of the Aces & Eights, and Knux soon makes his presence at ringside known, allowing Devon to take control of the match. Sonjay puts up a fight, but in the end it's Devon who is victorious, putting Dutt away with the Saving Grace for the one, two, three.

Devon defeated Sonjay Dutt at 6:58 by pinfall with the Saving Grace. Devon retains the TNA Television Title (56)

kJMlbVps.jpg

After the match we cut to the back where Christy Hemme is ready with an update on Mickie James' condition following Slammiversary, with Christy announcing that Mickie can't be here tonight as she is still recovering from the attack.

WmLWinNs.jpgoySx2ods.jpg

Just then, the new Knockouts Champion, Gail Kim, and her new enforcer, Lei D'Tapa, walk in. Gail is all smiles as she brags about being the Knockouts Champion once again. Gail says that she's the best woman in the business today and now she finally has the title again to prove it. Christy tries to ask about Lei D'Tapa and her actions at Slammiversary, but Gail says that all anyone needs to know is that the title is back where it belongs. (48)

BZnh9gis.jpgaMYPHjYs.jpgiftyUfzs.jpg

We cut back to ringside as The Originals make their way down to the ring for a celebration of their success at Slammiversary. Jarrett grabs a mic and he is the first to speak, bragging about beating Samoa Joe and telling Joe that what goes around comes around, and ungrateful losers like Joe always get what they deserve. Daniels and Kazarian talk next, and they both talk about winning the TNA Tag Team Championships, saying that it's only right that the best team in the world have the gold around their waists. They are about to continue, but then he celebration is cut short as...

fuRYG0hs.jpg

Samoa Joe's music suddenly hits and Joe marches down to the ring with a "no-nonsense" look on his face. The Originals ready themselves for a fight, but as soon as Joe enters the ring, the trio bail out of the ring and retreat back up the ramp, laughing all the way. Joe stands motionless in the ring, looking pissed off, and Mike Tenay says that, despite their success at Slammiversary, he'd hate to be in the Originals' shoes right now with Samoa Joe on the hunt. (52)

vHDhB39s.jpgvs.ja5tuzOs.jpg

A match between two former friends is up next as Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin finally square off to settle their differences. Despite both men being excellent high-flyers, this match is much more grounded and much more of a fight than one would normally expect from these two, which Mike Tenay attributes to the deeply personal issues between the two men. This is a back and forth match that even goes outside the ring at one point as Sabin looks to inflict even more damage on his former friend, but Shelley gives as well as he gets too. The match eventually returns to the ring and, in the end, it's Chris Sabin who picks up the win, hitting the Cradle Shock and covering Shelley for the pinfall victory.

Chris Sabin defeated Alex Shelley at 10:08 by pinfall with a Cradle Shock (56)

yPzBKmus.jpg9UjEJmus.jpg

In the back, Bobby Roode is in Eric Bischoff's office and Roode wants a spot in the King of the Mountain match, saying that he has been overlooked in this company for too long. Bischoff acknowledges that Roode deserves an opportunity and he says that he'll book Roode in a King of the Mountain qualifying match next week on Impact. Roode wants to know why he has to compete in a qualifying match when he saw Hulk Hogan just hand out a spot to Kurt Angle earlier tonight, and Bischoff explains that Hogan will choose one man for the match, Bischoff himself will choose one and, in the interest of fairness, the Aces & Eights get to choose one as well. And the last two spots in the match will be up for grabs in qualifying matches. Roode wants Bischoff to choose him then, but Bischoff says that he's got someone else in mind. Roode then accepts the opportunity, vowing to beat whoever his opponent is going ot be and go on to become The King! (49)

wD0WBZ8s.jpgWysEGdfs.jpg

There is quite a commotion elsewhere in the back as Tara and Velvet Sky are seen brawling, with Tara yelling at Velvet that she cost her the Knockouts title--something Tara seems hell-bent on making Velvet pay for. The brawl continues until the two are finally pulled apart, but it's clear that this issue is far from resolved. (35)

kCZCMYxs.jpgvs.VrEChyRs.jpg

"The Monster" Abyss returns to the ring next as he faces Rockstar Spud in what turns out to be a complete squash. In truth, Abyss could have ended this match sooner, but he seems to enjoy taking his time as he inflicts pain and suffering on poor Spud. Finally, mercifully, Abyss hits the Black Hole Slam and allows the referee to make the three count.

Abyss defeated Rockstar Spud at 2:10 with a Black Hole Slam (43)

aBSboVcs.jpg

The match is over but instead of Abyss' music playing, it's "Similar Creatures" that plays instead, bringing Jeff Hardy out from the back. Hardy still looks banged up after Slammiversary and Mike Tenay questions whether Hardy should be getting into the ring with someone like Abyss in his current state. Surprisingly, however, Abyss backs down when Hardy enters the ring, which confuses even Hardy himself. Jeff then gets on the mic and calls out his brother, but Matt doesn't appear and Abyss disappears into the back as well, ending this segment in utter confusion for Jeff Hardy. (70)

yPzBKmus.jpg4UJwwICs.jpg

Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan are backstage and Bischoff asks if Hogan is okay after everything that happened at Slammiversary, and Hogan again says that he's fine. Hogan then says that this thing with the Aces & Eights has to come to an end one way or another. Bischoff says that he hopes Hulk isn't considering getting back into the ring again, especially after Slammiversary, but Hogan just says that he'll do whatever it takes to rid TNA of the Aces & Eights once and for all. (58)

8YU7zdBs.jpg

Mr. Anderson makes his way down to the ring as Mike Tenay and Taz hype up the fact that Anderson's match is up next. But before the match, Anderson gets on the mic. Anderson says that since Eric Bischoff granted the Aces & Eights a spot in the King of the Mountain match, he's officially announcing that he will be the one representing the group in the match. Anderson says that whoever else qualifies, he'll make them all look like chumps at One Night Only! (70)

8YU7zdBs.jpgvs.X1GjTJks.jpg

Anderson kicks things off by getting in Magnus' face and telling him that he'll make him look like a chump as well, which Magnus responds to with a straight right hand and this one is on. Magnus remains on a roll following his early advantage, taking the fight to Anderson, but a well-timed, well-placed kick between Magnus' legs outside of the referee's view turns the tide for Anderson, who ends up putting Magnus away with the Mic Check for the pinfall victory.

Mr. Anderson defeated Magnus at 7:53 by pinfall with a Mic Check (55)

010IsBGs.jpg

After the match, Anderson goes to grab a mic again as he apparently has more to say here tonight, but AJ Styles hits the ring to chase him off. AJ then gets on the mic instead and announces that he's one of the five participants in the King of the Mountain match! The crowd loves this, though not so much Anderson and Taz. Mike Tenay then puts two and two together and says that AJ Styles must be Eric Bischoff's pick for the King of the Mountain match. (67)

JIrJUyks.jpg

Once the ring has cleared out a familiar music plays, though it's been some time since we last heard it in TNA, as Kevin Nash makes a surprise appearance on Impact as he makes his way down to the ring dressed in a suit. Nash gets on the mic and jokingly says that, in spite of what everyone's thinking right now, he's not back in TNA to compete in the King of the Mountain match. Nash says that, in fact, he's not in TNA to compete at all. Nash says that he's had his time in the ring, and now he's back in a company that he loves because he wants to help turn the stars of tomorrow into the stars of today. Nash announces that he's on the hunt for talent to manage, and he guarantees that anyone he manages, he'll take all the way to the top! (68)

It's main event time as James Storm goes one on one with D.O.C. of the Aces & Eights, and with Storm's upcoming World Heavyweight Championship title match at One Night Only against Bully Ray, this match just got a lot more interesting, or so Mike Tenay says on commentary while Taz maintains that Storm won't even make it to One Night Only because D.O.C. will take care of him tonight. It is an even match until the fight spills outside where D.O.C. whips Storm into the guard rail and then the steel steps, putting himself firmly in control of this one and drawing a few words of warning from the referee. D.O.C. maintains the advantage for several minutes, but a desperation Last Call superkick out of nowhere buys Storm some much needed time to recover. Storm then gets fired up and goes on the offensive, taking the fight to D.O.C. both in and out of the ring. Then, as Storm sets up for another Last Call in the ring...

Io2DFMFs.jpgO9Y7EQas.jpgiMecyR4s.jpg8H8bRn1s.jpgWuRKaALs.jpg

The ring suddenly fills up as several members of the Aces & Eights hit the ring to attack Storm, causing this one to end in a disqualification.

James Storm defeated D.O.C. at 11:31 by disqualification when members of the Aces & Eights attacked Storm (59)

The attack continues after the match as Storm is unable to fight everyone off, though he does go down swinging.

8eiV8l8s.jpgXPbwNMds.jpg

Kurt Angle and Sting then hit the ring and start brawling with the Aces & Eights, allowing Storm to get back to his feet and rejoin the fight as well.

qjuU40Qs.jpgSYyMyqWs.jpg

As the fight continues in the ring, we see Bully Ray and Brooke standing at the top of the entrance ramp, carefully observing the action unfolding in the ring. And with a final shot of the huge brawl that is still taking place in the ring, this week's edition of Impact comes to an end. (59)

Comment: It's Devon and Luke Gallows vs two top guys.

King of the Mountain qualifier

Samoa Joe vs. Bobby Roode

Comment: This could go either way but I think Roode wins and makes good on his promo.

King of the Mountain qualifier

Jeff Jarrett vs. Magnus

Comment: Magnus is great but not in 2013 yet so I assume JJ enters representing The Originals. Plus this match is JJ's match

Sonjay Dutt vs. Kenny King

Comment: This is more of a hope for Kenny to rebound his title loss. Do wonder if he'll ever go after Matt for costing him his first TNA gold

Velvet Sky vs. Lei D'Tapa

Week 4, June, 2013

Live from Swisher Gymnasium in Jacksonville, Florida

Attendance: 1.500 (sellout)

Announcers: Mike Tenay and Taz

qjuU40Qs.jpgSYyMyqWs.jpg

This week's edition of Impact kicks off with the TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Bully Ray, making his way down to the ring, accompanied as always by Brooke, to open the show. Bully talks about James Storm, warning him that he won't have Kurt Angle and Sting to help him when he steps into the ring with Bully tomorrow night at One Night Only. Bully then encourages Storm to surprise him, to prove that he is actually smarter than he looks by not showing up for their match at One Night Only.

tvhBGpws.jpg

James Storm's music then hits and Storm makes his way onto the stage, having apparently heard enough. Storm turns things around on Bully by reminding him that he won't have the rest of the Aces & Eights to help him against Storm tomorrow night--and unlike Bully, Storm is actually used to fighting his own battles. Bully shoots back that Storm may fight his own battles, but they are all losing battles just as it will be at One Night Only--IF he actually makes it that far! And according to Bully, that is a pretty big if. Storm tells Bully that nothing and no one can keep him from showing up tomorrow night and kicking Bully's ass! Storm then drops the mic and the two men stare each other down from afar as Mike Tenay hypes their match for the World Heavyweight Championship tomorrow night at One Night Only. (74)

King of the Mountain qualifying match

BZnh9gis.jpgvs.X1GjTJks.jpg

Jeff Jarrett and Magnus battles it out next with one of the two remaining spots in the King of the Mountain match on the line. This is a solid, somewhat slow-paced match as both competitors are being careful not to make any mistakes the other one can capitalize on. As a result neither man is able to maintain the upper hand for very long. Jarrett being Jarrett, he bends the rules as much and as often as he can without getting himself disqualified, but Magnus always has an answer to Double J's antics.

iftyUfzs.jpgaMYPHjYs.jpg

Bad Influence, Daniels and Kazarian, then make their way down to the ring and the Tag Team Champions' presence proves to be the deciding factor in this one as a timely distraction from Kazarian allows Jarrett to gain the upper hand, hit the Stroke and cover Magnus for the pinfall victory.

Jeff Jarrett defeated Magnus at 8:04 by pinfall with the Stroke following a distraction from Kazarian. Jarrett earns a spot in the King of the Mountain match (58)

xPT9tVhs.jpgdh7AdcTs.jpg

The Originals have just secured Jeff Jarrett a spot in the King of the Mountain match, but after the match Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Hernandez hit the ring, looking to get a piece of Bad Influence, but both the Tag Team Champions, and Jeff Jarrett, are long gone by the time they get there. Mike Tenay then informs us that he's just been told that Chavo and Hernandez WILL challenge Bad Influence for the Tag Team Championships tomorrow night at One Night Only. (37)

kJMlbVps.jpgfuRYG0hs.jpg

We cut to the backstage area where Christy Hemme is standing by with Samoa Joe and she asks Joe his thoughts about what just happened in the ring. Joe says that as much as he wanted to go out there after Jeff Jarrett, the only thing that matters tonight is his match against Bobby Roode. Joe says that beating Roode and qualifying for the King of the Mountain match is all that matters to him right now. And as soon as that is done, then he's coming for Jeff Jarrett and he will take him out! (49)

WysEGdfs.jpgvs.oySx2ods.jpgw/WmLWinNs.jpg

Velvet Sky has the odds stacked against her once again as she takes on the powerhouse known as Lei D'Tapa, with the TNA Knockouts Champion, Gail Kim, at ringside as well. Velvet shows her heart as she takes the fight to Lei early on, but Lei D'Tapa squashes Velvet with a powerslam. From there it's all Lei D'Tapa as she demolishes Velvet Sky, so much so that she ignores the referee's warnings in the process, and the referee ends up disqualifying Lei D'Tapa when she refuses to stop her attack despite Velvet being in the ropes.

Velvet Sky defeated Lei D'Tapa at 1:39 by disqualification (24)

The match is over but this clearly wasn't about winning or losing for Lei D'Tapa, it was about inflicting damage to Velvet Sky. Gail Kim directs Lei D'Tapa to continue her merciless beatdown on Velvet Sky as Mike Tenay wonders if Velvet will be in any condition to challenge Gail Kim tomorrow night at One Night Only.

UoqKSQ0s.jpg

Just then, "Hardcore Country" hits and Mickie James runs down to the ring to make the save, going toe-to-toe with Lei D'Tapa while Gail Kim escapes from the ring. Mickie eventually drives Lei D'Tapa from the ring and she and Velvet stand tall together--but has the damage been done to Velvet here less than 24 hours before her title match? (34)

wD0WBZ8s.jpgyPzBKmus.jpg4UJwwICs.jpg

We cut backstage to Eric Bischoff's office where Bischoff and Hogan are talking when Tara walks in. Tara is clearly upset as she asks if she heard that right? That Velvet Sky is challenging for the Knockouts title at One Night Only and not her? Bischoff confirms that this is true, and Tara says that if anyone deserves the shot--it's her. She points out that it was Velvet who was pinned at Slammiversary, not Tara, so if Velvet gets another shot after that, then Tara should be in the match as well. Even Hulk Hogan has to admit that Tara's got a point, and Bischoff agrees and adds Tara to the match, which will now be a three way match for the Knockouts Championship. (41)

6UDliW9s.jpgvs.qJ6MT2Ys.jpg

X-division action is up next as Sonjay Dutt and Kenny King square off in singles action. Sonjay came up short in his return match last week against Devon for the Television Title, but a win here against the former X-Division Champion would put Sonjay right in the hunt for the X-Division Championship. But while Sonjay does put up a good fight, he ends up suffering the same fate he did last week--coming up just short--as it's Kenny King who picks up the win in this one, hitting the Coronation and covering Sonjay for the one, two, three.

Kenny King defeated Sonjay Dutt at 6:48 by pinfall with the Coronation (50)

8YU7zdBs.jpgiMecyR4s.jpgWuRKaALs.jpg8H8bRn1s.jpg

After the match we cut to somewhere in the backstage area where Mr. Anderson is busy telling Knux, Wes Brisco and Garrett Bischoff all about how he's going to win the King of the Mountain match at One Night Only. Anderson says that it will feel especially good to beat AJ Styles and grab that World Title shot--

qjuU40Qs.jpgSYyMyqWs.jpg

Just then Bully Ray and Brooke walk in. Bully reminds Anderson that IF he wins, he's got exactly one job and that is to lay down for his President. Anderson doesn't seem too pleased with this but he chooses to bite his tongue and not say anything, though Mike Tenay speculates that there seems to be some tension between Bully and Anderson. (65)

ja5tuzOs.jpg

Back at ringside, Chris Sabin's music hits and Sabin makes his way down to the ring for a promo. Sabin brags about beating Alex Shelley last week and finally putting that loser behind him once and for all, and then he turns his attention to tomorrow night's One Night Only PPV. Sabin says that Eric Bischoff said that every title would be defended at the show, yet Sabin has noticed that Jeff Hardy doesn't have an opponent yet. Sabin says that that's all about to change because he is officially challenging Jeff Hardy to put the X-Division Championship on the line against Sabin!

aBSboVcs.jpg

"Similar Creatures" then starts playing, bringing Jeff Hardy out from the back. Jeff joins Sabin in the ring and simply says that if Sabin wants a shot at the title--he's got it. With the match set, a satisfied Chris Sabin leaves the ring. Jeff is about to leave the ring as well, but then... (61)

mv3sAa7s.jpgkCZCMYxs.jpg

The big screen suddenly flickers to life, showing Matt Hardy and Abyss at some undisclosed location. Matt asks if Jeff thinks this is easy for him? Matt says that he does what he does not because he wants to--but because he has to. Matt says that every time he has to lay a hand on his own brother, a piece of his soul withers away and dies. But as much as it pains and torments him, Matt says that he must continue down this path. Matt says that last week his own weakness got the better of him--he should have let Abyss attack Jeff again, but instead he called "The Monster" off because his heart told him to do so. But Matt says that the heart lies, and he knows in his head what must be done. Matt says that he will purge his own weakness--not for himself, but for Jeff. And in the end....everything is going to be...wonderful. (67)

XPbwNMds.jpg010IsBGs.jpg

We cut backstage where Sting confronts AJ Styles. Sting says that in all the time he's spent in TNA, he's always respected AJ. Sting says that he knows what it's like to feel betrayed, to feel like you can't trust anyone, but Sting says that he has never let AJ down and it's time for AJ to pick a side--the right side--in the fight against Aces & Eights. Sting asks if AJ really wants to see Aces & Eights destroy TNA? Because the AJ Styles that Sting knows would never want that. AJ says that he has already picked a side--his own side. AJ says that he will fight for himself tomorrow night at One Night Only, and once he wins that, he'll fight for himself again when he challenges for the World Title, no matter who the champion is. AJ walks off then and Mike Tenay says that it looks like AJ's mind is made up. (69)

King of the Mountain qualifying match

fuRYG0hs.jpgvs.9UjEJmus.jpg

The fifth and final spot in the King of the Mountain match at One Night Only is up for grabs next as Samoa Joe goes one on one with Bobby Roode. Joe is absolutely on fire early on as Mike Tenay speculates that Joe might have some pent-up frustrations that he's taking out on Bobby Roode, but Roode is able to weather the storm and use Joe's own aggression against him as Roode moves out of the way when Joe charges at him in the corner and Joe ends up going shoulder-first into the ringpost. It's all Bobby Roode for the next several minutes as he targets Joe's injured shoulder to great effect. Roode tries various submission holds to not only do further damage to the shoulder, but also in an attempt to get Joe to submit, but while damage is certainly being done, Joe refuses to submit. Joe eventually fires up and starts fighting back, despite the considerable pain his shoulder must be causing him at this point, and a lot of Joe's offense here are kicks, which Tenay speculates is due to the injured shoulder.

BZnh9gis.jpg

Jeff Jarrett then makes his way down to the ring, carrying his Acoustic Equalizer with him. As Jarrett gets up on the apron, a desperate Bobby Roode grabs the referee to distract him, allowing Jarrett to smash his guitar across Joe's head. Joe goes down in a heap as the referee warns Roode not to grab him again or else, but it's of course all academic at this point as Roode quickly covers Joe and picks up the one, two, three.

Bobby Roode defeated Samoa Joe at 15:44 by pinfall following a guitar shot by Jeff Jarrett on Joe. Roode qualifies for the King of the Mountain match (54)

Once he reaches the top of the entrance ramp, Jeff Jarrett gets on the mic and reminds Samoa Joe that he told him that saying no to Jarrett was the biggest mistake of his life. Jarrett says that he'll take everything from Joe and he won't stop until he has driven Joe out of TNA. Jarrett takes credit for bringing Joe into TNA in the first place, saying that Joe would never have gotten a chance if it wasn't for Jarrett, and now Jarrett is going to take it all away from Joe as well. (67)

Much like last week, we then hear some music that we haven't heard in TNA for a while as Diamond Dallas Page's music suddenly hits and DDP makes his way out from the back, making a surprise appearance. Page makes his way to the ring, holds up the Diamond Cutter sign and...."BANG!!!!". DDP then gets on the mic and says that he was sitting at home watching Impact last week only to see his good buddy Kevin Nash show up and say that he was looking for talent to manage. Page says that he couldn't let this opportunity pass him by, so he's offering a friendly challenge to Nash; Nash finds his guy to manage, Page will find one as well, and then we'll see who the better manager really is. "How about it, Nash?" Mike Tenay says that it looks like DDP just issued a friendly challenge to Kevin Nash. (67)

It's main event time as James Storm and Kurt Angle do battle with the Aces & Eights in the form of the TNA Television Champion, Devon, and D.O.C. Mike Tenay points out that Storm and Angle, along with "The Icon" Sting, have been on the forefront of the battle against Aces & Eights and that battle will continue both tonight, but also tomorrow night at One Night Only when James Storm will challenge Bully Ray for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Taz adds that, as Bully said earlier, Storm, Angle and Sting are fighting a losing battle. The referee has a hard time keeping control of this one and the match breaks down into chaos several times, with all four men battling it out in the ring.

O9Y7EQas.jpg

D'Lo Brown then makes his way down to ringside to, as Mike Tenay puts it, once again stack the odds in favor of the Aces & Eights. Although he loses control a lot, the referee also does an admirable job of re-establishing control, but the Aces & Eights take firm control of this one when D'Lo gets a cheap shot in on Kurt Angle. D'Lo then provokes Storm, which draws the referee's attention, allowing Devon and D.O.C. to double team Angle in their corner. D'Lo's actions end up costing him, however, as the referee sends him to the back despite D'Lo's objections. Back to a two on two battle, Kurt Angle begins mounting a comeback, unleashing a slew of german suplexes before making the hot tag to James Storm. Storm hits the ring and absolutely cleans house! Then, as Angle clotheslines Devon over the top rope, Storm hits the Last Call superkick on D.O.C. and pins him for the one, two, three. Storm picks up an impressive victory less than 24 hours before his World Title match against Bully Ray at One Night Only!

James Storm and Kurt Angle defeated D.O.C. and Devon at 13:09 by pinfall when Storm pinned D.O.C. with a Last Call (69)

The Aces & Eights are defeated, at least for tonight, and Impact comes to an end with a shot of Storm and Angle celebrating in the ring while Mike Tenay urges everyone to join us tomorrow night for One Night Only!

One Night Only kicks off with a rematch from Slammiversary as Bad Influence face the team they defeated for the Tag Team Championships at Slammiversary, Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Hernandez. Chavo and Kazarian start things off but almost immediately Kazarian tags in Daniels. Daniels then prepares to lock up with Chavo, only to tag out to Kazarian again. Mike Tenay doubts that mind games like that will work on a veteran like Chavo, and sure enough Chavo chain-wrestles Kazarian to the mat as soon as he gets his hands on him. The Champions regroup outside the ring and, with a little help in the form of a cheap shot by Daniels, Kazarian gains the upper hand and the Champions slowly begin wearing Chavo down. Hernandez decides to give the Champions a taste of their own medicine, getting a shot in on Daniels when Daniels moves too close to the ropes. This allows Chavo to make the tag and Hernandez enters the ring and starts throwing people around, showing off his impressive strength. Hernandez is on a roll, but a low blow by Kazarian puts an end to Hernandez's momentum and allows the Champions a few moments to recover.

Hernandez goes back on offense, however, hitting a pair of powerful slams and then positioning Daniels in the middle of the ring. Chavo climbs to the top rope, looking for the Frog Splash, but Kazarian nails Hernandez from behind and Daniels is able to roll out of the way. Chavo crashes and burns and Kazarian sends Chavo out of the ring. While the referee is busy getting Kazarian out of the ring as well, Daniels hits another low blow on Hernandez and then he rolls him up, putting his feet on the ropes for extra leverage. The referee doesn't see this and instead it's one, two, three.

Bad Influence defeated Hernandez and Chavo Guerrero Jr. at 12:03 by pinfall when Daniels pinned Hernandez with a roll-up while using the ropes for leverage. Bad Influence retain the TNA Tag Team Championships (54)

As Bad Influence escape from the ring, still the Tag Team Champions, we cut to the backstage area where Samoa Joe is seen arriving at the building, but both Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff are there to greet him. Hogan tells Joe that he and Bischoff understand how Joe must feel about Jeff Jarrett right now, but they can't allow anyone to interfere in the main event tonight. And since Joe isn't booked for a match, he has no reason to be here tonight and they don't trust him not to get involved. Joe says that damn right he's going to get involved, but Bischoff tells Joe to leave, adding that Joe will get his shot at Jeff Jarrett in the near future if he plays ball, but it can't be tonight. Joe tells Bischoff that he'll hold him to that, and then he turns around and leaves the building as we cut back to the ring. (55)

The TNA Television Championship is on the line next as Magnus receives a huge opportunity against the reigning TV Champion, Devon. It's a match that Devon dominates, but Magnus never stays down for long and he keeps getting back up and fighting back. Garrett Bischoff and Wes Briso are at ringside for this one and they do everything they can to distract Magnus without actually getting physically involved in the match. In the end, despite a courageous effort by Magnus, it's Devon who picks up the win and retains the TV Title by putting Magnus away with a Saving Grace.

Devon defeated Magnus at 6:12 by pinfall with a Saving Grace. Devon retains the TNA Television Championship (59)

"The Charismatic Enigma" Jeff Hardy defends the TNA X-Division Championship next as he goes one on one with Chris Sabin. We are not even a full minute into the match when...

mv3sAa7s.jpgkCZCMYxs.jpg

Matt Hardy and Abyss make their way out onto the stage. They remain there, at least for the time being, observing the action in the ring where Jeff and Sabin are going back and forth with neither man getting any kind of advantage over the other. Mike Tenay says that, as much as he dislikes Chris Sabin for what he did to his former friend, Alex Shelley, he can't deny that Sabin is one of the best X-Division wrestlers in the world, which he is proving here by more than holding his own against the great Jeff Hardy. Jeff gets the first near-fall of the match after hitting Whisper in the Wind, but it only gets him a two count. Jeff hits a front suplex, a mule kick and then he hits his trademark double legdrop to the groin/midsection area. The match spills to the outside where Jeff attempts a dive from the top rope, but Sabin moves out of the way and Hardy crashes and burns hard. Sabin rolls Hardy into the ring for a near-fall as Matt Hardy is seen whispering something to Abyss. Sabin tries to maintain the advantage, but Jeff fights back with a sitout jawbreaker. Jeff then goes for the Twist of Fate, Sabin pushes him off and into the ropes and a double clothesline takes both men off their feet. Both men get back to their feet and Sabin goes for a kick, Jeff catches his leg, Sabin then goes for an enzuiguri, which Jeff ducks and hits and belly to back suplex. Jeff quickly makes his way to the top rope and hits a crossbody, but Sabin rolls through and gets another near-fall. A frustrated Sabin argues the count with the referee, and this ends up costing him as this allows Jeff the opportunity to catch Sabin off guard with the Twist of Fate. Jeff then heads up top, hits the Swanton Bomb and picks up win in what was a very competitive matchup.

Jeff Hardy defeated Chris Sabin at 13:04 by pinfall with a Swanton Bomb. Jeff Hardy retains the TNA X-Division Championship (70)

As Jeff celebrates in the ring, we see Matt Hardy whispering something to Abyss again, only for both men to turn around and disappear into the back, leaving Mike Tenay and Taz to wonder why Matt didn't get involved in the match and just what Matt's plan really is.

kJMlbVps.jpgqjuU40Qs.jpgSYyMyqWs.jpg

We cut to the backstage area where Christy Hemme is standing by with the TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Bully Ray, who, as always, is accompanied by Brooke. Christy asks Bully about his World Title match tonight against James Storm, and Bully says that better men than James Storm have tried and failed to take the World Title away from him, and Storm will join that long list of failures tonight. Bully says that Storm is in for a beating tonight and when it's all said and done...James Storm will never mess with the Aces & Eights again! (58)

tvhBGpws.jpg8eiV8l8s.jpg

Speaking of James Storm, we cut to elsewhere in the back where Storm is seen getting ready for his huge opportunity later tonight when Kurt Angle walks up to him. Kurt wishes Storm good luck tonight and tells him that he has earned that World Title shot and that he deserves it. Storm wishes Angle good luck in the King of the Mountain match as well, and the two men shake hands before both going back to their preparations again. (64)

As soon as the bell rings, Gail Kim bails out of the ring and signals for Velvet and Tara to fight each other. Velvet wants Gail to get back in the ring, but Tara is more than happy to attack Velvet from behind and take control of the match. Velvet takes a beating at the hands of Tara, while Gail only enters the ring to break up pin attempts. This does eventually get under Tara's skin and she goes after Gail as well, forcing the Champion to take a more active role in the match. Velvet then goes on the offensive, taking the fight to both Gail and Tara, eventually putting both women down with a pair of DDTs. Velvet first covers Gail, who kicks out, and then she covers Tara, who also kicks out after two.

oySx2ods.jpg

As Lei D'Tapa makes her down toward the ring, Velvet pulls Tara to her feet but Tara fights back and ends up throwing Velvet out of the ring, where Lei D'tapa attacks. Taz reminds everyone that there are no disqualifications in a three way match, which means that Lei D'Tapa's actions are technically legal, but Mike Tenay is having none of it as he says that Lei D'Tapa has no business being out here. Meanwhile, in the ring, Tara turns around and walks right into Gail Kim's Eat Defeat. Gail then immediately covers Tara and retains the Knockouts Championship, once again with a little help from her hired muscle.

Gail Kim defeated Tara and Velvet Sky at 8:54 by pinfall when Gail pinned Tara with an Eat Defeat. Gail Kim retains the TNA Knockouts Championship (45)

Before we move on to the TNA World Heavyweight Championship title match, which is coming up next, Kevin Nash's music hits and Nash makes his way down to the ring. Once in the ring, Nash gets on the mic and says that he heard what his old buddy Diamond Dallas Page said last night on Impact, and Nash says that he'd like Dallas to come out here right now and join him in the ring.

RzeWH72s.jpg

DDP's music then hits and Page makes his way out from the back and down to the ring. The two legends come face to face in the ring, though things appear friendly as they both smile and shake each other's hand. Nash says that he's never been one to turn down a friendly challenge, especially if there's money involved, so how about this; at Hardcore Justice, the PPV after Destination X, Nash's guy will take on DDP's guy and they'll see who the better judge of talent really is--and the loser will have to pay the winner 10.000 dollars. Page accepts, though he says that he really isn't doing this for the money. The two men shake hands once again and it looks like the talent search is officially on! (63)

TNA World Heavyweight Championship

Rs88jBV.jpg

qjuU40Qs.jpgw/SYyMyqWs.jpgvs.tvhBGpws.jpg

The TNA World Heavyweight Championship is on the line next as Bully Ray defends the Championship against James Storm. This one starts out as a slugfest as both men pummel each other with right handed punches in the middle of the ring. Storm looks to be getting the upper hand, but then Bully drives his knee into Storm's midsection to take control early on. Bully tries to end it early, hitting several high-impact moves and going for several covers, but Storm keeps kicking out and Mike Tenay says that it's going to take a lot more than that to keep James Storm down. Bully seems to be getting a little bit frustrated and he begins arguing frequently with the referee, and even Brooke complains to the referee as well. This eventually comes back to haunt Bully as it allows Storm to recover and gather the necessary strength to mount a comeback. Storm begins putting it together, hitting a DDT, a swinging neckbreaker and then he applies a sharpshooter, but he is too close to the ropes and Brooke gets up on the apron and slaps Storm. Storm breaks the hold to confront Brooke, but while the referee is warning Brooke about her actions, Bully Ray hits a desperation low blow from behind on Storm. Bully then rolls Storm up and it's one...two...thre--NOO! Storm just barely manages to get his shoulder off the mat before the three count.

Bully can't believe it and he again wastes time arguing with the referee, while Taz on commentary urges Bully to keep his cool. Bully hits a bige time side walk slam and then he signals for the Bully Bomb. Bully sets up for the move, but Storm fights out of it, turns around and hits a snap DDT, leaving both men down on the mat.

iMecyR4s.jpg

Knux makes his way down to ringside and he gives some instructions to Brooke, who then moves around to the opposite side of the ring where she climbs onto the apron and attempts to get the referee's attention. She does so successfully, allowing Knux to slide into the ring and pull Storm to his feet, but Storm catches Knux by surprise with a Last Call superkick! Storm sets up for a Last Call on Bully as well, but Brooke gets into the ring and positions herself between Storm and Bully, protecting Bully. The referee eventually gets Brooke out of the ring, but as he does so, we see that Bully now has the steel chain wrapped around his fist again and he nails Storm with it behind the referee's back. Bully then gets rid of the chain, hits the Bully Bomb and covers Storm for the one, two, three.

Bully Ray defeated James Storm at 15:22 by pinfall with a Bully Bomb after using a steel chain. Bully Ray retains the TNA World Heavyweight Championship (62)

The match is over and James Storm has just been screwed over by the Aces & Eights. Bully isn't satisfied yet, however, as he instructs Knux to continue the attack. Bully and Knux grab a couple of steel chairs, but just as it looks like they might take Storm out for good here....

XPbwNMds.jpg

Sting's music suddenly hits and "The Icon" runs down to the ring to make the save as the Aces & Eights members immediately bail out of the ring upon Sting arrival. As Sting checks on James Storm, Mike Tenay says that it looks like "The Icon" just saved Storm from a potential serious injury. (65)

King of the Mountain match

8eiV8l8s.jpgvs.010IsBGs.jpgvs.8YU7zdBs.jpgvs.BZnh9gis.jpgvs.9UjEJmus.jpg

It's main event time as Kurt Angle, AJ Styles, Mr. Anderson, Jeff Jarrett and Bobby Roode compete in a King of the Mountain match with a future shot at the TNA World Heavyweight Championship on the line. Mike Tenay explains that Eric Bischoff has decided to do away with the penalty box for this match, meaning that competitors still have to pin another competitor, or make another competitor submit, in order to be eligible to climb the ladder and retrieve the World Title contract, but a wrestler who has been pinned or submitted no longer has to spend time in the penalty box.

With the slight rule change explained, the match gets under way and it's absolute chaos early on as all five men are fresh and all five are going at it in the middle of the ring. Kurt Angle is the first one to gain an advantage as he goes on a rampage hitting german suplexes to everyone in sight. Angle then hits an overhead belly to belly suplex on AJ Styles, a belly to back suplex on Bobby Roode and a release german suplex on Jeff Jarrett. Angle then locks eyes with Mr. Anderson, but Anderson bails out of the ring before Angle, who is absolutely on fire here, can get his hands on him. Despite Angle's dominance, it's Mr. Anderson who scores the first pinfall of the match as he waits and watches outside the ring as Angle continues his flurry, ultimately hitting the Angle Slam on Jeff Jarrett. Then, before Angle can cover Jarrett, Anderson enters the ring, throws Angle out of the ring and covers Jarrett to steal Angle's pinfall--Anderson is now eligible to climb the ladder and retrieve the World Title contract.

Anderson wastes no time going for the ladder, but he is cut off by AJ Styles who hits a Pelé Kick on Anderson and grabs the ladder for himself. AJ nails Anderson with the ladder, then Roode and Jarrett as well. Kurt Angle gets back in the ring and he's got a fire in his eyes as he goes after Anderson, grabbing his leg and applying the Ankle Lock. Anderson fights it as best he can, but Angle keeps applying more and more pressure and Anderson has no choice but to tap out, making Kurt Angle eligible to win the match as well. Jeff Jarrett and Bobby Roode then begin working together for a spell, teaming up to throw AJ Styles out of the ring and then they go to work on Angle as well. Jarrett and Roode then set up a table in the ring and they proceed to powerbomb Angle through the table, but when it's time to go for the pin the brief alliance falls apart as both men want to cover Angle first and they end up turning on each other. Anderson is back in the ring and he tries to set the ladder up, but AJ cuts him off with the Phenomenal Forearm. AJ then clotheslines Jarrett out of the ring and then, wasting absolutely no time, AJ applies the Calf Killer on Bobby Roode, who is forced to submit, making AJ the third man to become eligible to win the match.

AJ sets up the ladder and begins to climb it, but Kurt Angle is back to his feet again and he begins to climb the ladder as well, leading to a fistfight at the top of the ladder. They go back and forth but before either man can gain the upper hand, Jeff Jarrett returns to the ring and he tips the ladder over, sending both AJ and Angle crashing to the mat. Jarrett then hits the Stroke on Angle, but he has to abandon the cover as Mr. Anderson begins climbing the ladder. Jarrett yanks Anderson off the ladder, but Anderson catches Jarrett off-guard with a Mic Check. Anderson tries to climb the ladder again but this time it's Bobby Roode who stops him by slamming a steel chair into Anderson's back. Anderson crumbles to the mat and Roode goes for the cover, but Anderson manages to kick out after two. Kurt Angle then surprises Roode with an Angle Slam and with Roode, Anderson and Jarrett all down in the ring, we're back to Kurt Angle and AJ Styles both climbing the ladder.

The two men meet at the top of the ladder where they exchange right hands again until Angle gains the upper hand. That doesn't last long, however, as AJ grabs Angle's head and repeatedly slams it against the top of the ladder. With Angle teetering, AJ unleashes a slew of headbutts, the last big one finally knocking Angle off the ladder and allowing AJ Styles to secure the World Title contract and win King of the Mountain.

AJ Styles defeated Kurt Angle, Mr. Anderson, Bobby Roode and Jeff Jarrett at 20:12 by retrieving the World Title contract (69)

And with a shot of a victorious AJ Styles holding up his newly won TNA World Heavyweight Championship title match contract, One Night Only comes to an end.

King of the Mountain match for a future shot at the World Heavyweight Championship

Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Anderson vs. AJ Styles vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. Bobby Roode

Comment: Angle just challenged last month, and everybody else is a heel. By process of elimination, Styles takes the duke.

Makes sense to me :D

TNA Tag Team Championships

Bad Influence © vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Hernandez

Comment: I always thought Chavo & Hernandez were okay but they don't actually feel like much of a tag team to me.

TNA Television Championship

Devon © vs. Magnus

Comment: I just figure that one title should change hands... Devon must be running out of challengers now.

Fully agree with you on Chavo and Hernandez but my tag team division is rather limited at the moment with just a few teams, so i kinda need them together right now. Building a proper tag team division is one of the main things on my to-do list.

I almost did switch the TV Title for the exact reason that it felt like at least one title should change hands to truly justify the extra PPV, but ended up deciding not to.
