WWF 1987: The Price of Hulkamania

Recommended Posts

I started doing this save many, many years ago. It was always start/stop due to me losing interest in playing or not having time to play. Lately, however, I've been playing the game more than I have in a real long time. So, I want to strike while the iron is hot and start this save back up. Late 80s/early 90s WWF/WCW was a real joy for me, so this save has been sort of a passion project even though I haven't gotten the chance to see it through.

I still have many of my planned storylines down on a word document and ready to go when the time is right in the save. I converted a 1987 Real World mod from TEW 2016 to 2020 and added some chemistry discoveries I found while playing the mod from the previous game. Instead of editing to pick up right where I left off, I'm starting from the beginning of where the mod starts (March 1987).

The Snake Pit:

Roberts: In life, there are consequences for the choices you make. My guest this week is going to learn firsthand that lesson. He's the current World Wrestling Federation Intercontinental Champion, "Macho Man" Randy Savage with his manager Miss Elizabeth.

Savage: OH YEEEAAAH! What do YOU mean by "consequences", Snake Man?

Roberts: Well, my man, it's no secret what you did to Ricky Steamboat last year by almost ending the man's career. Something that better men have tried, and failed, to do. Now, you must pay for your actions.

Savage: I ain't payin' NOTHIN! You say better men have tried and failed? Were any of these men the Macho Man? NO! Could one of these men that failed have been YOU? I get it...you're jealous of the Macho Man!

Roberts: Let's get one thing clear, I'm jealous of no man. Besides, I think you should be worrying more about The Dragon than what I am.

Savage: I'm not worried about Ricky Steamboat. I've dealt with him before and I'll deal with him again. You, on the other hand, should be worrying about The Honky Tonk Man, because the last time I saw you, you had a guitar over that thick head of yours!

Roberts: *laughs* Oh...don't worry, Savage, he's got his coming just like you have yours coming at the hands of Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. Just remember, it's easier to jump on...than it is to jump off.

Maybe it’s ol Hacksaw Jim Duggan’s (Watts pronunciation of Doo-gan) time to shine. Actually though thinking back I don’t think Duggan wasn’t there yet. Maybe Piper will stay and he becomes the man to take Hogan’s place. It really is an interesting spin on events. My favorite for the role isn’t on the WWF but was at WM 1

Hart: Here's the host of the Flower Shop....Adorable Adrian!

Adonis: Welcome, common people to The Flower Shop. The brightest and most happening talk show in all the world! Today, I have the VERY distinct pleasure of welcoming my guests this week, none other than The Magnificent Muraco and "Ace" Cowboy Bob Orton Jr!

*all three hug*

Orton: It's no secret, Adrian, that me and Muraco have been teaming up a lot lately. We've been doing pretty well, might I add. However, we want some tougher competition!

Muraco: That's right, Acey! We've beaten all that have been put in front of us, but that only drives our hunger! We want The Killer Bees, The Can-Am Connection, The British Bulldogs, and any other top team in the WWF!

Adonis: Well, I heard that those teams are scared to face you two and be HUMILIATED in front of the entire world! You know who is also scared?

Muraco: Who?!

Heenan: Hulkamania is DEAD! Hogan, you can lie to all of your humanoids all you want, but I won't lie to them. Hogan didn't leave to pursue "politics", no. He left because he was SCARED of this man, the Undefeated 8th Wonder of the World Andre The Giant!

Andre: HOGAN! I told you I would take the World World Wrestling Federation title from you and I did just that. I didn't even have to break a sweat! Ha ha ha!

Heenan: Tunney, there is only one thing left. That is to HAND OVER the WWF Title to the rightful owner, the Bobby Heenan Family!

Roberts: They say you don't always get what you want, but you get what you need. Well, me and Damien...we NEED the WWF World Heavyweight Title. Put us in the ring with the Giant and I will show that even giants fall for the three most dangerous letters in wrestling...D...D...T!

Honky: Well, Colonel, that means only one thing...the WWF should give me the WWF Title. Do the right thing, Jack Tunney, don't be cruel and step all over Honky's blue suede shoes by not giving him the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship.

________________________________________________________________

3Gw0AQT.gif

Steamboat: There are a lot of things happening here in the WWF. I know I have my issues with Randy Savage, but we are without a WWF World Champion. I hear Jack Tunney is deciding on what should do with the title and while I don't want to be handed anything, I hope Mr. Tunney looks towards me to carry on the torch that Hulk Hogan so valiantly carried for the last 3 years.

Piper's Pit

Piper: We're going to cut right to the chase this week. As you've heard, Hulk Hogan has decided to go into the political world and thus we are without a WWF Champion. With that being said, please welcome my guest this week. He is the President of the World Wrestling Federation...Jack Tunney.

Tunney: Thank you, Mr. Piper. I can assure all of the wrestlers and all of the fans around the world that I did not take this decision lightly. I've done a lot of thinking in the last few days to decide what we should do with the WWF World Title.

*at this point, Bobby Heenan and Andre The Giant come onto the set*

Heenan: Listen, Tunney, there is only one thing you should do and that is hand over the World Wrestling Federation Championship to the ONLY man in pro wrestling that has been undefeated for as long as this man has. He was next in line and since Hogan is too much of a coward to take the beating like a man, then Andre The Giant should be awarded the WWF Title by FORFEIT!

Tunney: Mr. Heenan, while that might seem the easy and best option for you and your man, I'm not going to hand over anything. If Andre wants this title, then he needs to win it in the ring. So, that's why I made the decision that coming up at Wrestlemania III, Andre The Giant WILL BE competing for the WWF World Title. I took a look at all of the potential challengers and while some had valid claims to compete for the title, there was one that stood out.

This man came close to winning the WWF World Title on multiple occasions. This man took Hulk Hogan to the limit more than anyone else has in the last three years. For that, I think he deserves this opportunity. Mr. Heenan, you should like what I'm about to announce. At Wrestlemania III, for the World Wrestling Federation Championship it will be Andre The Giant taking on this man....

zsBPf1u.gif

"MR. WONDERFUL" PAUL ORNDORFF!

*Orndorff comes out onto the stage and shakes Tunney's hand as Heenan looks on bewildered*

Orndorff: What's the matter, Bobby? Looks like you've seen a ghost! Should you be surprised? You've been with me as I beaten Hulk Hogan multiple times the last year. You know I am the uncrowned WWF Champion! Hulk Hogan left because of ME! Not because of that overgrown Sasquatch!

Andre: WHO YOU CALLIN A SASQUATCH, PAULA?!

Heenan: STOP IT! BOTH OF YOU! STOP IT! Paul, you seriously don't know what you're doing! Please! I'll make it worth your while! Rethink this, please!

Orndorff: Rethink this? Why would I rethink this, Bobby?! You know my goal has been to become WWF Champion! You think another one of the family members is going to stand in my way?! I'm not scared of him!

Heenan: PLEASE! You're screwing everything up! PLEASE!

Orndorff: NO! If you're not with me, then get out of my way, because I'll do this on my own if I have to! See you at Wrestlemania III, big man!

Okerlund: Alright, please welcome my guest at this time...Bobby "The Brain" Heenan!

Okerlund: Mr. Heenan, it must be a stressful last 24 hours for you.

Heenan: Stressful? Hardly, Okerlund. The past 24 hours has been great!

Okerlund: Well, it was announced that "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff will be facing "The 8th Wonder of the World" Andre The Giant for the vacant World Wrestling Federation Championship at Wrestlemania III. It must be stressful for you knowing that two of your men will be facing each other.

Heenan: Stop trying to stir up controversy, Okerlund! There is nothing wrong with a little healthy competition within the members of my Family. Regardless of who wins, EVERYBODY in the Heenan Family will win, because we will finally have a WWF World Heavyweight Champion within the Family.

Okerlund: Based on your comments and actions on Piper's Pit, you seemed to be trying to NOT have Orndorff compete at Wrestlemania III!

Heenan: That's not true! I was merely concerned for Paul's health. Andre is very angry and is on a mission to become WWF Champion. I don't want to see Paul get hurt!

Okerlund: So, you're saying that you don't think Orndorff can beat Andre?

Heenan: No! That's not what I'm saying at all! I'm just saying that Andre has a short temper and there's no telling what he's capable of!

Okerlund: So, you're implying that Andre The Giant could LOSE to Paul Orndorff?

Heenan: Now....now...no...I'm not saying that either! Andre The Giant is undefeated!

Okerlund: Then, whose corner are going to be in at Wrestlemania III?!

Heenan: Stop trying to cause trouble, Okerlund! I'm going to be in a neutral corner. As far as I'm concerned, this interview is over!

I like how quickly you're moving forward in this dynasty. WrestleMania III was an interesting show, which I will try not to spoil. That main event is certainly a daring choice, but given the original match, I think you made the right call on short notice. After his actions during the WWF Championship match, I believe Bobby Heenan's days on the active roster may be numbered as well.

Yeah...Savage/Steamboat was really my only choice to close the show as it was the program with the most heat next to Piper/Adonis now that Hogan went on his *ahem* political career. Not to mention, I didn't want to end Wrestlemania on a DQ, which was done to continue the story which will advance in a major way on the first episode of Raw.

Now comes the real hard part is figuring the main event scene for the next year while Hogan is gone. As my title indicated, which should be obvious anyways regarding the time period, Hogan was my centerpiece and I had two years worth of the main event scene set that I have to push back a year at the minimum. Plus, I gave Piper time off to mimic real life, so he won't be around for a while either. I'm thin on babyfaces, but I'm not ready to pull the trigger on a Savage babyface turn. So, I've got to spend some time building stand-in top babyfaces.

Lol total Weasel move by The Brain. That type of Heenan move brings back memories. But now with Savage dropping the IC title has the door been opened for The Madness to run wild in the WWF. As much as I would have loved to see Orndorff win the title, I like this as Mr Wonderful is a better heel than babyface.

Edit - Well I didn’t see your post as I was interrupted typing mine about Savage.

Heenan looks at Andre and says "I love it when a plan comes together! To think, he was too stupid to read the fine print in the contract! Well, that shouldn't surprise me as I don't think he can even read! Haha! Ladies and gentleman...and I use that term very loosely, allow me to introduce to you the NEW....the NEW...World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion...*Heenan looks over at Andre and smiles* "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff!"

Andre looks over at Heenan puzzled, which turns into anger as he starts yelling at Heenan. Andre gets in Bobby's face and backs him into a corner as Bobby pleads for mercy yelling "PLEASE LET ME EXPLAIN!" Andre doesn't want to hear it as he grabs Bobby, yelling at him. At this point, Paul Orndorff comes into the ring and sneaks up on Andre and clips the back of Andre's leg causing the giant to crumple to the mat in pain. Orndorff starts attacking Andre's leg, even getting a steal chair and ramming it into Andre's knee as Andre yells in pain. A swarm of officials come out to stop Orndorff from further damaging Andre The Giant's knee as Heenan places the WWF Title around Orndorff's waist as Orndorff taunts the crowd.

A man who LLLOOOOVVVVEEESSSS YYYYOOOUUU almost as much as Brother LLLLLOOOOOVVE does! Allow me to intro-duce to you....Brother Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and the NEW World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion Brother Wonderful Paul Orndorff!

*Bobby Heenan and Paul Orndorff come to the stage and they both hug Brother Love*

Heenan: It is an HONOR, Brother Love, to share this stage with a man with class and high moral fiber!

Brother Love: Well thank you, Brother Brain! Now let me ask you how this WONDERFUL plan came together with you and Brother Wonderful Paul Orndorff!

Heenan: It would be my please, Brother Love! Let's go back to last year when Mr. Wonderful turned his back on Hulk Hogan. Mr. Wonderful chased Hogan all over the world, trying to take the WWF Championship away from Hogan. Orndorff had the title won on numerous occasions if it weren't for bad officiating getting in the way.

WWF officials would not give any more title shots to Mr. Wonderful, so I had to come up with another plan to get the title off of Hogan. That's where Andre The Giant came in. I had gotten him suspended from the WWF that summer and only I could life the suspension. That's when I got in Andre's ear and turned him against his best friend, Hulk Hogan, by saying Hogan had been ducking him all of these years. I could lift his suspension and guide him to fulfilling his destiny to becoming WWF Champion.

The dummy bought it hook, line, and sinker. He turned his back on his best friend and all of the humanoids around the world that looked up to him! However, Hulk Hogan threw me a curve ball and packed his bags and left the WWF to pursue "politics". Instead of handing the WWF Title over to Andre, WWF officials decided to name a new opponent for Wrestlemania III for the vacant WWF Championship.

That's when the opportunity was open for Mr. Wonderful to come in the backdoor to get himself another shot at the title. I pleaded my case to WWF officials that Orndorff deserved to be in the match considering how close he previously was to winning the WWF Title and the officials AGREED with me! At that moment, the plan was in motion. Once the WWF officials put Mr. Wonderful in the match, I was able to add a clause to the contract that the title can be won via a DQ victory.

Andre The Dummy can't read and never saw the clause in the contract. While pinning Andre The Giant would have been nice, the main goal was for Mr. Wonderful to become the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion and we accomplished that goal at Wrestlemania III!

Then, last week on the debut episode of Monday Night Raw, we sprung the trap on the big dummy. He thought I was about to give him the WWF Title, but all he got was a trip to the hospital thanks to the NEW WWF World Heavyweight Champion Mr. Wonderful! HA HA HA HA!

Orndorff: That's right, Bobby. This was over a year in the making, but I'm FINALLY the WWF Champion! And I'll be damned if anyone is going to take this belt from me that easily! I don't care who you are! Jake Roberts, Ricky Steamboat, Randy Savage, Jim Duggan, you bring them to me and I'll knock them down!

Heenan: LOVE LIVE MR. WONDERFUL! LONG LIVE MR. WONDERFUL! LONG LIVE MR. WONDERFUL!

*Mr. Wonderful does the Hulk Hogan ear cup taunt to taunt the crowd as the segment fades out*

Match 6: "Dr. Death" Steve Williams def. King Kong Bundy in 12:27 when Williams pinned Bundy with the Oklahoma Stampede in his debut match.
