I think the Neo-Syndicate takes this.

Giving him another veteran scalp works.

I think a rematch with Greg is where Mr. Lucha the third might go. Their rematch will be better when Lucha gains more steam.

Youngman and Remus both feel like they'll do something bigger. Especially EY so I'll vote for them.

It was really interesting to get to see the direction The Historian wants to take TCW because now we were able to start to see what storylines and programs he plans to run with. They ran this show from El Paso, Texas and there were 8,309 paying fans in the building. The early reports say this show did a 3.44 rating on ACE which is good for 2,580,664 viewers.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/DETuXK9.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">The show started with Aaron Andrews coming to the ring. The World Champion was all smiles and started off with a really good promo about how he hopes he has finally put Wolf Hawkins in the rearview mirror and cemented himself as the top man in all of TCW. He's been the standard bearer for years and he's not going anywhere. All standard babyface champion stuff but it was effective. And then the segment got interesting.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/O8YnpRE.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">Jay Chord came out. Fresh off his victory against Sammy Bach, Chord was excellent here and the two men went back and forth. Chord went for the killshot. He said Aaron Andrews has been protected by not being put into the ring with Jay Chord in a singles match. How has Jay been the best wrestler on the planet for years and never received a TCW World's Championship opportunity? He called it bullshit -- he actually said bullshit, and said it's about to change. Aaron Andrews can't politic his way out of this one.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">Aaron started getting hot and said that Jay had never been in a position to challenge him before but if Jay's ready to step into the big leagues than Aaron is ready to give him his time at bat. It looks like The Historian is going to give us the long awaited Andrews-Chord feud and this could really be something special. While this segment felt very SWF/USPW with all of the talking and starting the show off with talking instead of action, these two did it really, really well. I'd give this a strong <strong>93</strong> rating.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/L6O6iWQ.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/P3YHvhv.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/k2dGiTQ.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mNkJ2b9.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">We come out of the break with our first match of the night. A good solid tag team match with the underdog babyface tag team against two young heels. The Historian has clearly started trying to bring in some youth and fresh faces into TCW with guys like Ernest Youngman and this match was set up to showcase the technical prowess of Youngman. He kept twisting Benny and Jimmy into knots and his style rubbed off on Roderick who also brought out his technical game, and even got the win for his team with a Remus Clutch that Jimmy Foxx submitted to in 10:29. A solid opener that definitely showcased Roderick and Ernest well. I'd give it a <strong>58</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/ONjnPpA.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/6lBKz5I.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">We followed that up with our second match of the night. The TCW debut of The Architect. This isn't a surprising hire to me. The Historian worked in MAW, The Architect was a big deal there (though he only had one tag title reign, very surprising for a guy as talented as him). I am disappointed they didn't have a better name for him the The Architect, but I'm not on the naming committee and maybe TCW wants to allow people to still own their names? I don't know. He was paired with a veteran with some name recognition so people couldn't hate on the match but man, Bart was <em>bad</em> here. He has clearly lost several steps and I'm not sure why he's still hanging around. He tried a springboard back elbow and slipped off the ropes. The Architect looked fine but unspectacular here. His first TCW match was also his first match ever on TV and his inexperience in front of a TV crowd was clear, but he should be alright. We had our second straight submission when he locked in his Blueprint. The match lasted 7:58 and was definitely a step down from the opener. <strong>49</strong></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/DuQWX5Z.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/vbQjRgB.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">A third straight match after the excellent opening segment and the second straight match to feature a debut. Kip's clearly coming in as a babyface and after his stellar run in Puerto Rico he could do great things in TCW. He's got some facial hair now which is an interesting change and he was paired with the smaller, more agile Marc Speed who bumped like crazy for Keenan. Keenan was all suplexes -- tossing Speed around the ring. He was trying to show off his power and technical prowess and it was effective. While the crowd wasn't sure how to take him when he first came out in his star-spangled singlet, by the end of it when he hit his Belly to Belly Suplex and got the pin after 10:02, they were firmly behind him. Solid debut match for Keenan. <strong>51</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/sGcMC7c.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/ByP8I6b.jpg" alt="" width="75" height="75" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mFlBaI9.jpg" alt="" width="75" height="75" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/6dwEbqe.jpg" alt="" width="75" height="75" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">We went from here backstage to a pretaped promo. I still don't understand The Sinner Society as a  group. I really don't. Eddie Peak does most of the talking but Floyd does the managing and I just don't understand what's going on other than they're big mean monsters who hit hard and win a lot. I don't even understand how they're all sinners, but whatever. This was a fine promo setting up Devine Fortune being the next challengers for The Behemoths for the tag straps. That should be an interesting program. It gives The Behemoths some proper underdog babyfaces to get heat on. There was nothing of note said in the promo other than Eddie Peak telling Devine Fortune that fortune had shown him they'd suffer divinely. Generic but effective. <strong>63</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/swMOY1Y.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/nNbd5OG.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">We come back to the ring for our fourth match of the night. The continued push of Historian signee Mr. Lucha III was on display here and I'm all here for it. While the match wasn't spectacular, Mr. Lucha II came into TCW with almost no name in America outside of tape traders, he's starting to get more of a reaction so his push is paying off and he's the kind of babyface that TCW needs. He appeals south of the border. He's got a different skillset than a lot of the guys on the roster and he's different than what SWF and USPW are presenting. Maverick was on the losing end here and the veteran did his job in making Mr. Lucha III look good. Lucha hit his Third Strike superkick and Maverick sold it beautifully. Another match in the ten minute range -- 10:25 was the final time. I'd give this a <strong>51</strong>. Another solid match and continues The Historian's push of younger, new talent.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/WOgCN1Q.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">Jason Arazia came to the ring next (even though he was billed with the incorrect name and some people online forget people are human and make mistakes), the long time announcer looked like he might be switching roles and moving into a personality role. I've heard that The Historian appreciates Arazia's skill but thinks that at almost 60 years old, he's no longer culturally relevant. I've also heard he wants to change Shawn Doakes out of his lead announcer on TV role too, but we'll see if he does. Arazia announced that Total Championship Wrestling was continuing to evolve as a company and starting next week, TCW would be starting a tournament to crown its first ever Women's Champion! He said it was high-time TCW got its own women's division and he's right. It's a shame that it has taken this long. This should add some depth to their roster and allow for them to challenge USPW in another way. Especially when women get tired of jobbing to Alicia. He announced the participants too: Queen Amazon, Electric Dreamer, Foxxy Larue, Danielle Sweetheart, Pinky Perez, Pamela Rojo, and Alina America. I have it on good authority that the women aren't on exclusive written deals so they can keep working where they are currently working, but this should be a good mix of women to establish the division. I'd give this a <strong>56</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/rt9uAOs.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/8FhSRaQ.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">Following up Jason's big announcement was the rematch between T-Bone Bright and Troy Tornado. This was another wild brawl, a trend for T-Bone's matches. The Historian clearly likes this guy and is trying to play to his strengths and T-bone looks like he's going to deliver in a big way. It was all fists and kicks and headbutts until T-Bone hit his Powerslam and got the win after 10:05. The Historian loves these ten minute matches apparently.  The best match so far, <strong>67</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/8yy9vsl.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/cOBU7bL.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">We got a backstage pretape with Mighty Mo and Tana the Mighty where they...agreed to split up as a team. Dreams do come true. The worst named team in all of wrestling is officially not a team any more. There was no hostility here -- just both men agreeing to focus on their singles careers instead of a tag career. You mean to tell me a team can stop without some big explosion or turn? This is groundbreaking. Real good segment too. Mo looks like a star. <strong>71</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">                                    <img src="https://i.imgur.com/VJyytHt.jpg" alt="" width="100" height="50" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/cOBU7bL.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/vItdKlH.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">Tana had a TV title match next against Greg Gauge. This went about like what you'd expect. Greg took Tana apart and showcased that superior technical wrestling. They were telling a story -- the story of Greg's ability. The match only lasted 8:09 and Greg won with the Proton Lock. This was his thirteenth straight defence of the belt. The match itself was a <strong>64.</strong></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/OcDyQF8.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/8yy9vsl.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/IpWYpdA.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/nsokciI.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/qYGH3U6.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/TDVHhXp.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/C8jAYhM.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/1SQ7OJj.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">It was main event time. A big eight man tag team match with Sammy Bach teaming up with Mighty Mo and The Wild ones to take on the Syndicate. This was the best match of the night and you'd expect it to be. Wolf was limited in the ring -- and it looks like Mighty Mo was really trying to get his hands on him so maybe we're going to get Mighty Mo and wolf Hawkins coming up which I would be very excited for. It was also interesting that Ernest Youngman came out to watch and seemed particularly interested in Sammy Bach. He didn't get involved though and The Wild Ones continued to be featured strongly. Sammy Bach got the win when he made Chris Flynn tap out in 18:34. This match was a <strong>74</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">As a show, this was really solid. It was coming off of a Pay Per View and it had the distinct purpose of establishing new storylines. It looks like we're going to be getting Mighty Mo and Wolf Hawkins, Jay Chord and Aaron Andres, Ernest Youngman and Sammy Bach. We've got women coming to TCW. We've got Kip Keenan and The Arcitecht here. We've got the continued pushes of The Wild Ones and Mr. Lucha III. We've got T-Bone Bright rising. I think the future of TCW is really bright if The Historian can keep this up. Overall, I'd give this show a very respectable <strong>75</strong>.</span></p></td></tr><tr><td style="width: 915px;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/dCLnspm.jpg" alt="" width="900" height="26" /></td></tr></tbody></table><p> </p>

Coming to you live on Wednesday night from Allentown, PA is USPW's American Wrestling. The first show after the event that was Stars, Stripes and Slams! should be an interesting one.

In the aftermath of Saturdays event and the brawl that took place between
Joss Thompson
and
Enygma
it had been announced via USPW's social media that these two would settle their differences in the main event of the show in a Street Fight. After the arena brawl we witnessed on Saturday this will be a fight that you won't want to miss.

Natural Storm
and
Heavy Duty
were originally meant to face-off on Saturday but, due to what we're guessing were time constraints, was rescheduled for Wednesday. Howard & Rayne have had their way with Money and co. for the past month and The Business haven't been at their best for a while now. Money decreed last week that if Thatcher and Ducont fell short in the match that they're done.

Elsewhere on the night we'll see some of the elite female talents of USPW in action as
Alicia Strong
faces off against
Missy Masterson
and
Jillian Jarvis
against
Melody
. Strong & Jarvis will be looking to bounce back from their respective recent defeats but face strong opposition to do so. National Champion
Roger Cage
will be in action and 'Mr USPW'
Nicky Champion
will also return to singles action for the first time in 3 months.

Wednesday night is sure to be another exciting night of action in USPW and Reverie is the place to watch it live! See you there.

Hello and welcome to this special edition of the Behind The Curtain Podcast with me, Jo-Ro. After Saturdays Special Event it's Wednesday again and that means a fresh episode of USPW's American Wrestling to digest and review. Let's get into it.

HLSJnbk.jpg

The show came from the tri-state area this week and Allentown, PA in front of a paying crowd of 13,393 with an audience of 11,623,136 watching on Reverie. This was their biggest viewing audience for TV this year so far.

Segment 1:

The show opens with the usual fanfare of pyrotechnics, flashing lights and all the glitz and glamour that comes with USPW. The announce team do a fine job of hyping up the events to come this evening as well as promoting Stars, Stripes & Slams! to be watched on Reverie.

(82)

Segment 2:

'Hollywood' Roger Cage entered to a decent reception from the live crowd. He used to be the franchise fixture of NYCW, a tri-state mainstay, so is a popular figure in the area. He was still nursing and selling his arm, which was wrapped tightly in a bandage, from his fight with Zeus on Saturday but vows to always be a fighting champion and offered an open challenge for his National Title. We wait a moment before the current PSW champion Nelson Callum comes forth from the 'Stronghold' (the USPW branded name for the 'go position') and accepts.

(69)

Segment 3:

Roger Cage [vs] Nelson Callum (National Title Match)

This was a good TV match and easily the best match of 2020 so far for the champion. A lot of good back-and-forth action made Callum look like a very credible threat as he mixed up his offense between brawling strikes and submission holds as he tried to maintain the hurt on 'Hollywoods' arm. Ultimately the end came with the champion retaining the title via the Cage Rage but it was a great showcase of Callum's talent and rumour has it his venture in USPW could be a permanent one. An excellent move for both parties if true.

(63)

Segment 4:

Melody [vs] Jillian Jarvis

The action continued as we went straight from the solid opening contest to this great match also. Melody is a 4-time company champion but has only featured once this year so far which was in the 8-woman tag match last week which also involved Jarvis. These two mixed it up there thus the contest here. Both are very good wrestlers, even on a bad night, and put on a great 8-minute affair which ended with Melody picking up the victory via her Melody Maker.

(71)

Segment 5:

Nicky Champion [vs] Tavon Blake

Our third match without a break and the evening of solid action continued here. Nicky Champion entered and has cited that, despite his return, he still needs to return to fighting fitness and wants some warm-up matches. Ex GSW talent Tavon Blake (the Jr. has apparently been dropped) accepted the challenge and what an opportunity this was for his debut match to be against Mr. USPW.

Tavon is clearly a capable wrestler but you need notoriety about you to catch on with the USPW faithful so being in the ring with Champion will clearly help. The match lasted just short of 9-minutes which perfectly showcased Blake's capabilities as well as Champions apparent ring-rust (there was none. The man was on form). Of course Hawkeye took the win and the fans are thrilled to see him back in action.

(71)

Segment 6:

Just as he begins his celebration Champion is blindsided and sent crashing to the mat by Big Bubba. Frehley was immediately behind his enforcer and the two put a nasty beatdown on Champion with Bubba encouraging Blake to participate. Running Wolf was the man to make the save as the heels began fleeing before he'd even entered the ring to save his on again/off again partner. The trio backed up the ramp with Frehley and Bubba hyping up Blake as Wolf tended to Champion

(79)

Segment 7:

Regular Joe [vs] Anthony Trask

Back from the commercial break and the in-ring action continued with two lesser featured talents getting seven and a half minutes to show what they could do. Regular Joe has regularly been a bit of a punching bag for any heels over the past few years and that was no different here. 'The Traskmaster', a decent talent but still with a lot of development to go I feel, looked good here and forced the submission with his Texas Cloverleaf. A fine match but underwhelming compared to what came before it and what's to come.

(53)

Segment 8:

We were then treated to a hype package video promoting the upcoming debut of 'The God of Country'. Early signs would suggest to me that this would be building up Tennessee William, recently signed to an exclusive deal from NYCW. An underwhelming package though the 'heat magnet' should be well suited to life in USPW if that is who this is for.

(42)

Segment 9:

Once the package finished we were then treated to a brief pre-tape sit down interview with Danny Jillefski, it's nice seeing him featured more often than usual, interviewing The Texas Express. He quizzes them on their intentions now that they've beaten The Cold Warriors and they state that they now intend to move on and challenge for the tag team titles. They've earned their shot and now it's time to make it count. A very brief package but if it were my call I'd try and get the young duo a mouthpiece as, though both talented and improving in the ring, neither can really talk with a great level of confidence or command.

Segment 10:

Natural Storm [vs] Heavy Duty

This is the third time these two teams have mixed it up in some capacity over the past five weeks. It was 'do or die' for Thatcher & Ducont as their ultimatum from Rich Money was win or you're done. The dastardly duo used many a dirty trick to pull one over Rayne & Howard but there's a reason Natural Storm have been as consistently successful as they have been for the past ten years. Howard specifically seems like he's getting a strong push at the moment, especially with calling out Money last Saturday, and he secured the win for Natural Storm in a good tag team match.

Segment 11:

Natural Storm celebrate together and disappear through to the back as Thatcher & Ducont try to get their bearings about them. The coin drop echoed throughout the arena to a heavily mixed reaction and the World Champion Rich Money walked to the ring with purpose but it wasn't just Whitlock and Rajah by his side. He was also accompanied by Jack Jackson and Zeus, two men who appeared to be trying to get 'in' with Money over the past few weeks.

The heavies are confronted and the snap of Money's fingers signal the beginning of a beatdown. The duo are sent packing and surprisingly, or unsurprisingly given he's done nothing of note for months, Rajah is also smacked about and given his marching orders. The new look Business look formidable and this is good news for the company as it was needing a fresh lick of paint. This is a form of The Business I can get on board with.

(63)

Segment 12:

Alicia Strong [vs] Missy Masterson

This match was given a solid 12 minutes which makes it the longest match of the night and it was another good TV match. Masterson is suitably named as though as she's a 'master' at making opponents look good but it's not as if Strong needs help there. Strong looked fierce tonight and this is clearly a determined Strong looking to make up for coming up short on Saturday night. Strong picked up the win via her Strong Arm Tactic in a good match.

(70)

Segment 13:

After that convincing victory Strong grabbed a microphone and delivered a very good promo here and took the time to specifically call out Pariah. She claimed that though Pariah may be one of the hottest commodities in the business right now she'll never hit the heights that Alicia has before or is currently at. Strong vowed to put an end to Pariahs run of momentum and put down the Lone Wolf. Good promo.

(80)

Segment 14:

The USPW production team put together a fantastic short package here that recapped the mini-feud between Joss Thompson and Enygma and made it seem like the most important thing in the company. It hyped the upcoming street fight really well and the fans in attendance ate this up.

(84)

Segment 15:

Enygma [vs] Joss Thompson (Street Fight)

The fans were very into this and this ten minute all out brawl delivered in bucketsful as far as TV main events and PG friendly street fights go. We got the usual fare of trashcans, steel chairs and use of the steps but the highlight of this match was a spot using the ringside announce table. They brawled across the ringside area and through the fans but found themselves back in the ring. Enygma gained the advantage and lay JT out on the announce table, ascended to the top rope and flew off it for a frog splash but Thompson was playing possum and connected with a Clean Cutter through the table that 'popped' the fans and secured the win. A great main event. Match of the night and certainly the best USPW match of 2020 so far.

(82)

Overall this show gets a solid 80 from me. It's their best TV of the year so far (granted there's only been 5) but it delivered across the board. Good in-ring action coupled with good storytelling makes for good TV. Who knew?! It also doesn't hurt that every match had a clean finish. Of course there are the nitpicks of certain people not being featured like the Women's champion and the tag team champions but again that's an unfortunate downside to USPW's large roster. This is the first month though of Strong starting to be able to tell wholly her own stories as booker and it's a promising start. Plus Rich Money now appears to be surrounded by bodies who look like their suited to be associated with The Business and that's a good thing for the product. Let's hope this continues next week.

Til next time friends, I'm Jo-Ro.

SWF Uprising Results [Fri. Wk. 1, Feb 2020]

Gf1mgKs.jpg

From the diary of Samantha W. Fitzworthy

This week’s episode of SWF Uprising was broadcast live from Raleigh, North Carolina and the numbers were close to those of last week, with a small uptick in attendance as 8.683 fans were present and a slight drop in viewership with 3.973.113 viewers watching the show live on NetStream.

The show kicked off with Valiant making his entrance, accompanied as always by Hannah. The man got on the mic to cut a promo in regards to his ongoing rivalry with former friend and tag team partner, Rogue, which of course was the cue for him also showing up. Dueling promos inside the ring got a good reaction to start the show off strong and it came down to Valiant wanting to put an end to this rivalry for good. Rogue was all too happy to jump on the opportunity after Remo got out of the way (conveniently not mentioning it was him who got pinned in their three way match at When Hell Freezes Over) and accepted, but Valiant had one last ace up his sleeve; not trusting the cheating Rogue, he proposed a two out of three falls match at Nothing to Lose, ensuring that there would be an undisputed winner by the end of the night. Mr. Eisen told me to mark down a 78 for this and I understand that although Uprising is supposed to be a show for younger talent to be showcased, it makes absolute sense to start things off with two of the biggest stars in all of SWF.

Cut backstage where Duane Fry was interviewing “Platinum” James Prudence on his plans next after defeating Cali Slick and Fro Sure. Prudence had little time to brag because the two men walked in and protested his tainted victories. It just so happened that Justin Sensitive overheard the commotion and joined the scene, offering to be the Platinum One’s partner for tonight in a tag match against Slick and Fro. I’ve seen worse ways to set up a tag match and I guess this is also about Sensitive looking to hook up with new allies after the brand split cut him off the Rat Pack, so given how fans haven’t yet fully warmed up to Slick and Fro despite their undeniable skills in the ring and on the mic, a 56 feels right for the angle.

x70kFLp.jpg25UZG0h.pngBUCgAQW.jpg

First match of the night saw “The King of Charisma” Robbie Wright go head to head against ZWB. Not a lot of history behind it but it didn’t really need it either, as having two athletic, high flying men with charisma made absolute sense and the in-ring action was up to par with expectations. I was half hoping they’d go all out for a barn burner but it seems they’re saving it for down the line, since it all amounted to Xavi Ferrera interfering to attack ZWB when the ref wasn’t looking, thus setting up Robbie for the Wright Move and the pin. Seems like that feud is advancing from a war of words to actions that’ll set up a match, but despite the tainted finish this was still an entertaining match that Mr. Eisen rated as a 60.

Coming back from commercials, a video was shown to hype up the night’s main event and break down the intertwining storylines in it. Valiant, Steven Parker and Hawaiian Crush would be teaming up to face Rogue, Des Davids and The Awesomeness, so it’s the North American, Tag Team titles and the Rogue-Valiant feud all thrown in. I’m not saying it was bad, but it should have been kept much shorter and having this right after the break made it feel like I was still watching more commercials, so a 49 will have to do.

BUCgAQW.jpg

ZWB took a moment solo on the mic to rant about Ferrera costing him the match tonight, nothing spectacular but it did give him some of his heat back so he wouldn’t end the night as someone who got duped and didn’t do anything about it. This storyline is still building up steam and for now, the promo was a mere 44.

12RJue4.jpgwifnrLi.jpg25UZG0h.png1DWauMw.jpgZG3gG6w.jpg

Slick and Sure versus Prudence and Sensitive up next, the tag match set up earlier in the show. There’s no two ways about it, this was downright lame. We already knew that the ex-GSW stars wouldn’t get a huge response as the fans are still warming up to them, but having to adjust from a hardcore environment to the televised SWF style didn’t do them any favors and neither did their prior singles losses to Prudence. Speaking of the Platinum one, he’s holding up despite his age but he had to go the extra mile being the ring general here, carrying not just the babyfaces but also his partner who, once again, was anything but spectacular. Eight minutes felt like they couldn’t end soon enough and Sensitive using the ropes to pin Fro left a sour taste in my mouth, so 45 feels like a lot given what I had to sit through.

pM9mouj.jpg

Next up was a promo from Steven Parker in regards to his upcoming title match against Des Davids and, apparently, Spencer Spade. Parker knows his way around the stick and I for one realized how so far in the episode, most of the promos were done without the crutches of the Supreme TV broadcast team playing interviewer. I can see either Parker or Spade being the next SWF North American champion and the match itself will likely be good, so great job having me hyped up for it and a 66 for Parker’s promo.

1xdP8o4.jpgWDpvDHD.jpgZMWSLM5.jpg

Speak of the devil then, we got Emma Chase playing interviewer between champions and challengers for the SWF World Tag Team titles. The back and forth on the mic was all about acknowledging that The Awesomeness did indeed beat the Mission last week to prove they’re worthy of a title shot, before hyping up that match and tonight’s main event. Ekuma and Adams are turning out to be entertaining champions and there’s no way an Awesomeness promo isn’t going to be great, so Mr. Eisen rated this one as a 72.

VO0swHV.jpg25UZG0h.pngUEdrBy2.jpg

Last week, Randall Buckminster Bumfhole showed up after Jungle Lord’s match with Charger Siaki to mock him and apparently this was a setup for the two men to have a match tonight. Frankly, I wasn’t expecting much from this contest but the North Carolina old school fans eating up Jungle Lord’s old school wild man gimmick was what elevated the experience from passable to good. The two competitors took their time to tell the story of a powerhouse babyface against a cowardly heel, RBB wisely limiting his high flying arsenal to not expose his opponent’s weaknesses, and surprisingly enough we got the heel going over with a clean finish. Seems Jungle Lord is being slowly phased out and moved down the card to help elevate younger talent, a 61 feels right for this match.

gT58y8R.jpgWBnSRhJ.jpgN8a1je6.jpg

I don’t know if he’s the biggest star on Uprising, but in my mind there’s no doubt Mikey Lau is certainly the breakout star for the brand after the split. He was interviewed here by Ana Garcia in a split screen segment against Atom Smasher, who he’s been feuding with since right after January’s Pay Per View. Smasher rambled on about “nuking the dragon into oblivion” and for all its cheesiness, it was very entertaining, until Lau got serious and challenged his opponent to put his money where his mouth is when he proposed a Last Man Standing match between them at Nothing to Lose. Awesome awesome stuff and a well deserved 81 for this one.

If an eight man tag main event felt a bit like a mess as an idea, one must remember this was the go-home episode of Uprising before the Pay Per View so this was less about the wrestling or even the outcome and more about teasing a bunch of matches that will take place at Nothing to Lose. It should come as no surprise then that things eventually fell apart and the referee had to throw the match as a no contest since he’d lost control, but for the twenty or so minutes of build up to that finish and despite an inconclusive finale, this was still a good match that Mr. Eisen rated as a 65.

Overall I feel like Matty Faith is finding his footing with this show and its purpose of building up future stars. It shows too, thanks to a clearer format, it shows on the booking that sets things up for down the road and this episode certainly did its job of hooking the audience into pre-ordering the Pay Per View. Overall the grade it received from Mr. Eisen was a 71.
