It was held in Albuquerque, New Mexico and had 8,012 paid fans in attendance. They did a 3.13 on ACE which is good for 2,354,987 viewers. This show also marked the beginning of the new TCW Women's Title tournament. This show also saw the debut of a new commentary lineup. Shawn Doakes is no longer the lead play by play man of TCW Total Wrestling, instead Lee Bambino was at the desk with Kyle Rhodes and Jasmine Saunders.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/jQYwSe8.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/ChwmZH1.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">The show opened with Human Arsenal and Yuri <span style="font-weight: 400;">Yoshihara in singles action. If you remember, Yuri is in TCW on excursion from PGHW and the young Japanese wrestler is really making strides. Being in the ring with a veteran like Human Arsenal can only help him and Arsenal definitely put the kid through the paces. This match was short and fast paced with not a lot of down time. With it being the first match on TV, it definitely was designed to capture the attention of the audience while also showcasing the young Yoshihara but not at the expense of the veteran because after 5:40, Human Arsenal won with the Ammo Dump. Solid opening contest. <strong>55</strong>.</span></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-weight: 400;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/8jCMs7P.jpg" alt="" width="70" height="70" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/DETuXK9.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">We go backstage where Shawn Doakes is standing by with Aaron Andrews. Aaron Andrews wasted no time in jumping right in to talking about Jay Chor'ds interruption last week. He says that he can't take away from what Jay Chord has achieved in his TCW career. Twice he was International Champion when that belt was around. He was All Action Champion and even was the very first TCW Television Champion. He knows that Jay Chord is a future World Champion but he emphasis that that future is still the future. It's not the present because in the present, Aaron Andrews is the TCW World Champion. He is the man at the top of the food chain and he got here through blood and sweat and tears and he's not ready to give it up to a punk like Jay Chord who thinks he's entitled to the top because of his last name. If Jay Chord wants to be World Champion, he's going to have to pry the title out of Aaron Andrews' cold, dead hands. This was an excellent promo. Really well done from Aaron. <strong>90</strong>.</span></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-weight: 400;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/ghF9T38.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/ZxibBIW.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/cOBU7bL.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/Tufelxm.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/1SQ7OJj.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/C8jAYhM.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/ByP8I6b.jpg" alt="" width="70" height="70" /></span></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">We come out of the promo for a six man tag action that was really just designed to get the Syndicate on TV and get them a win. They're still the top stable in TCW and after The Elite lost to Devine Fortune at <em>Malice in Wonderland</em> it is clear that this TV match was getting them so momentum back. They controlled the whole thing. There was no real shine and only a couple of hope spots to keep it somewhat interesting but the outcome was a forgone conclusion. After 10:07, Doc Hammond won with a Texas Cloverleaf on Danny Fonzareli. It was a solid enough contest that did it's job. <strong>66</strong>.</span></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-weight: 400;"> <img src="https://i.imgur.com/8jCMs7P.jpg" alt="" width="70" height="70" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/8yy9vsl.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">We go back to Shawn Doakes and this time he is standing by with big Mighty Mo. Mighty Mo was high energy and started off talking about how excited he was to be focusing on his singles career. He had achieved all he could in the tag ranks and it was time for him to show the world just who Mighty Mo is when he's standing on his own two feet. He said he wanted to start with a big target and that big target's Wolf Hawkins. Mo's been waiting for years to get a match with Wolf Hawkins and he wants him at <em>The War to Settle the Score</em>. This was a good, energetic promo that got a feud started and set up a pay per view match and showed what Mo is planning to do. <strong>83</strong>.</span></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-weight: 400;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/gy1Pl4i.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/eGI4FBr.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Coming out of the promo, we have our first match in the new TCW Women's Title tournament. Foxxy LaRue, who has made her name in QAW and Pinky Perez, who has made her name in both Mexico's CILL and in QAW were the first women to ever wrestle in a TCW ring. The crowd wasn't sure how to take to either woman. The action was solid but unspectacular and was clearly trying to establish who the women were. Foxxy LaRue got the win with her Flash Headkick after 7:56. Weakest match so far but that's probably because of their lack of popularity in the mainstream. <strong>37</strong>.</span></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-weight: 400;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/1fUWyEh.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/PFg6HVA.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">After the first women's match, we got the second match of the tournament. This pit two luchadoras, Electric Dreamer and Poison Ivy against each other. Of the two, Electric Dreamer could be the biggest star. She just screams starpower. These two have never met in a major company (though they have on very small Mexican independent shows but the announcers ignored that). Much like the first women's match, it wasn't bad but the audience wasn't sure how to take to the women so it definitely affected the over all rating. Electric Dreamer got the win with her Electric Blue Bomb. <strong>36</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/8jCMs7P.jpg" alt="" width="70" height="70" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/rt9uAOs.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">Coming out of that, we were back with Shawn Doakes and this time with T-Bone Bright. T-Bone was also hyping his desire to wrestle Wolf Hawkins -- so it looks like both Mo and T-Bone want to wrestle Wolf. This could be very interesting. Two men who want to wrestle Wolf Hawkins. I'm interested to see what they do with this. <strong>73</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/IpWYpdA.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/TDVHhXp.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">We got Findlay O'Farraday versus Chris Flynn next. Flynn is in the heater role for The Syndicate. He can get beat and it's no big deal. Findlay is clearly being built into something with how much offense he keeps getting in matches and how physical he is being presented. The Historian must want Findlay to be a star and I can see why. He's got all the potential to be a major player for TCW like he was for BCG. He and Flynn had a good, hard hitting match and in the end, Findlay hit the Atomic Spinebuster to get the win. <strong>51</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">                                    <img src="https://i.imgur.com/VJyytHt.jpg" alt="" width="100" height="50" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/uQgcGE2.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/vItdKlH.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">The match I was most looking forward to was next. Two second generation wrestlers -- the babyface Edd Stone and the heel Greg Gauge. Two men who can really wrestle and can go hold for hold, because while Edd Stone is known for his aerial skills let's not forget he is a great technical wrestler too. They had a really good Television match. They exchanged holds and built the match. Edd Stone got several near falls. He almost got the job done, but ultimately Greg locked in the Proton Lock and got the submission victory for his fourteenth defence of the Television Title. <strong>70</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/vItdKlH.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">After winning the match, Greg took the microphone and said he wanted another match with Mr. Lucha III. It wasn't fancy but it got the job done and let people know what they could expect next week on TV. <strong>64</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/DETuXK9.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/Poy9Jtt.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/DuQWX5Z.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/L6O6iWQ.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/P3YHvhv.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/O8YnpRE.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/k2dGiTQ.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mNkJ2b9.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/6lBKz5I.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/JZfYoY5.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">The main event was a big ten man tag, and I use that term lightly. Jay Chord and Aaron Andrews are big deals. Benny and the Foxx have a decent name and Roderick Remus has been featured nicely. Everyone else? Newcomers to TCW, but I see what they were doing here. The Historian is clearly trying to build new names and the only way to do that is to give them the rub so here they are getting the rub. I'm not sure why he put himself in the match other than his own ego -- and he was the weakest performer in the match. This match was the story of Aaron Andrews trying to get Jay chord in the ring with him and Jay Chord avoiding him as much as he could. It worked and they got plenty of time. Almost twenty minutes, actually, and Jay Chord got the win when he hit the Cradle Piledriver on Kip Keenan. <strong>68</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">Overall, this was a solid show. I can see what The Historian is trying to do. He wants to build new stars.. He isn't convincing old stars to come out of retirement, he's trying to fully reestablish the TCW roster and if he's successful, that will be great for TCW. If he fails, well, I'm sure he can go back to taking bumps on the indy science. I am really interested in Aaron Andrews and Jay Chord. <strong>72</strong>,</span></p></td></tr><tr><td style="width: 915px;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/dCLnspm.jpg" alt="" width="900" height="26" /></td></tr></tbody></table><p> </p>

This is kind of a duo I liked pairing in earlier TEW games as a learning experience for both(usually as the back up to a veteran like Rogue or part of a trio with Greed) so I endorse this pairing.

SWF Supreme TV Results [Tues. Wk. 2, Feb 2020]

qeYGKnn.jpg

From the diary of Samantha W. Fitzworthy

This was the go home episode of Supreme TV before the Nothing to Lose Pay Per View, broadcast live from Rhode Island in the New England area. Although well within SWF’s stomping grounds, a smaller venue was chosen and as a result, only 6.831 tickets were sold. Even worse were the numbers on the ratings, with a 2.81 (2.111.271 viewers) due to the show’s new timeslot later at night. This means reduced exposure and income, as well as allowing TCW to run their show without live back to back opposition, but I’m guessing it also comes with lower expectations on C.A.N.N.’s part, alleviating the pressure and perhaps even salvaging that broadcast deal against the prospect of a one sided termination.

qD6llvF.jpg2tpRL3H.jpgRSL6GBd.jpg

As is often the case, the episode kicked off with Rocky Golden, Remo and Scythe but instead of a live appearance, we got a video package to sum up their rivalry, explain how it came down to the three of them wrestling for the SWF World Heavyweight title and promote that match. It felt different, it was exciting and kept just as short as it should have been. A good way to hype up viewers and hook them into buying the Pay Per View, Mr. Eisen rated this one as a 74.

gvy0H2L.jpg4a1C8BJ.jpg

So, last week, Dominic DeSousa wrestled his first match with Joe Sexy as his manager and won it. This time we got a promo from the two of them bragging about it and hyping each other up, as it appears this pair will be featured regularly on Supreme TV. I can’t complain about it, they’re both great talkers, their gimmicks match and they work very well together as a pairing, perhaps Joe can provide that extra something to take DeSousa’s career to the next level. For now, he helped him land a very decent 64 grade.

bcjiqVi.jpg

John Greed hit the ring next, looking none too happy. He cut a promo about how things have been rough for him lately and only then did I realize he hasn’t won a single match since the start of the year. Greed did a good job of getting across the point that he was in a rough spot without making himself feel like an absolute loser, because he immediately followed his point by issuing an open challenge, saying if he couldn’t win this one match, he’d be taking a long break to reconsider his future. Somewhat convoluted, but it set up the following match with a bit of storyline and emotional investment, so I was told to note a 62 for John’s promo.

bcjiqVi.jpg25UZG0h.pngb88Ke2i.jpg

Greed’s surprise opponent turned out to be Rocky Weatherfield, now using his legal name of Sylvester and probably keeping “Rocky” as a nickname or completely phasing it out. I should have figured someone from RIPW would be showing up, since the episode was in New England which meant there would be enough fans familiar with the developmental brand’s roster to guarantee some sort of reaction for the newcomer. It is said that Greed can have a solid match against practically anyone so I was curious to see how he’d help the rookie look good and in hindsight, it was probably a good idea to go all out and keep things flashy with a quick finish, in and out before the excitement of a new debut fades out and fans have a chance to notice any holes in his in-ring game. Not that the actual wrestling was anything to write home about, but Weatherfield bumped around, got in some offence to show his skill, didn’t really get to showcase his character much and ended up taking the Crash Diet to put the veteran over and give him some heat back. This scored a 51 from Mr. Eisen, who wondered if this was a one-off appearance and if not, why Rocky debuted directly on Supreme TV instead of Uprising.

RSL6GBd.jpg

A short pre-taped message from Scythe was shown next, the Dark Reaper talking about how he’s not interested in material things such as the SWF World Heavyweight Championship title belt, but has instead come to collect Remo and Rocky Golden’s souls. Can’t say I was thrilled, gimmickry aside, it made the title feel cheap and Scythe isn’t exactly fire on the mic, but somehow fans ate it all up so I can’t argue with the 81 this one got.

bD6Gn3a.jpgZqKAoE0.jpgWfm7oyM.jpg

Cut back to the interview zone and Eric Eisen was standing by with Marshall Dillon and Oliver Kobb. “Easy E” basically skipped the interview part and simply announced that at Nothing to Lose, The Mission, Southern Comfort and Fame & Money would be wrestling in a 3 way tag match to determine the next #1 contender for the SWF World Tag Team titles. The point of having Dillon and Kobb was probably to show their live reaction to the announcement but without them talking a bit about it, I’m a little confused as to whether this is supposed to also be about Dillon and Ranger’s respective teams clashing to continue their break up storyline. Whatever, a disappointing 67 for this segment feels like more than enough.

cMCn9oC.jpg25UZG0h.pngFHUEpiU.jpg

Mainstream Hernandez is in the same spot as The Awesomeness, a cool heel who’s so over with the fans they’re effectively forcing a face turn on him. Although there wasn’t much story behind him and Masked Patriot facing off in a match, they took that little bit and worked it over from bell to bell, with Hernandez getting ample opportunities where he could cheat to win it but somehow being hesitant to pull the trigger. This stalling had them use up the entire 15 minutes allocated to this match and end in a draw, an indecisive finish with no winner. I didn’t know SWF even bothered with this kind of stuff, time limits are for nerds. Anyway, between the performers holding back to emphasize the storytelling aspect and the indecisive finish, this match was rated as a 58 when it could have been much better.

qD6llvF.jpg

We then got a promo from the SWF World Heavyweight champion himself and at this point, I realized the promotional packs for this match would be a recurring theme throughout the episode; things started with a video package, then Scythe, now Rocky, probably Remo would get some time on the mic later as well. Somehow, Rocky’s promo was a little underwhelming compared to Scythe’s, the champion regurgitating the same old stuff about taking out two birds with one stone and removing both thorns from his side. I think a good part of it had to do with him not addressing his increased chances of losing the title, even without getting pinned; he’s not the super arrogant type to overlook this and had he done it, so completely letting that one fly made him feel like a bit of an idiot. Mr. Eisen gave him a 77 for his promo which isn’t bad, but it’s just not enough when you’re supposed to be the champion and face of the company.

Lightening up the atmosphere a bit, we then got another skit of Robbie Retro disco dancing his way into another wrestler’s segment and trying to hypnotize them with his hip gyrations. That’s where the light-heartedness ended however, because this time he tried to pull this off on The Crippler, arguably SWF’s grumpiest, most pissed off character. Robbie probably triggered some sort of lingering trauma in the former Lobster Warrior and The Crippler was true to his name when he grabbed The Disco Stud and tied him into a pretzel. Not sure if this was about putting The Crippler over as a threat, writing out Robbie or both, but it was a bit that stirred up some emotion and I personally believe it deserved more than a 67.

OffRXjh.jpgz0va49v.jpg25UZG0h.pngcpAGu2w.jpgqm4JcZ6.jpg

Remember Allen’s promo last week, when Lenny Brown and Spencer Spade got involved? Hold that thought. Meanwhile, he and Bekowski teamed up to take on Gilmore and Morgan, two big young bruisers against a pair of popular, established babyfaces. Frankly, I was hoping this match would turn out better than it actually did, but it seems everyone was holding back for this televised match and saving it for a Pay Per View, as we also got another tainted finish with Bekowski disqualified after he continued mauling Morgan and ignored the ref’s calls several times. Not a bad way for Matty Faith to book this, if there wasn’t going to be a clean finish, this one at least protected the faces and made the heels look brutal. However, all four men could have done much better, which is why their match here got a mediocre 56.

OffRXjh.jpgz0va49v.jpgnq2GDOi.jpg2gUyrYj.jpg

So, last week’s promo. Spencer Spade hit the ring after the match and joined in as Bekowski and Allen, no longer contained by the rules of an ongoing match, put the boots on Gilmore and Morgan. After completely dominating the ring, the three of them struck a pose for the hard cam, Bekowski and Allen putting on their most menacing look as Spade cut a promo to announce that the three of them have decided to join forces; he’d be leading the two men to superstardom and they’d be watching his back in return. From now on, they’d be known as The Supreme Dream Team. Kinda rolls off the tongue nicely, I can see it getting over and so does Mr. Eisen, who enthusiastically graded this angle as a 71 just as it was announced that the two teams will be facing off again at Nothing to Lose.

2tpRL3H.jpg

Yep, the Remo promo as predicted. Pretty basic stuff here as well, nothing we hadn’t heard before. Remo won the three way match against Rogue and Valiant to rightfully be a title contender, Scythe got himself involved and will regret it, he’ll be the one standing tall with the title at the end of the night, all that jazz. Not that it was bad or it fell flat, this is Remo we’re talking about, but somehow I feel like he could have done better and the 73 his promo got is a reflection of that.

NpVvUsB.jpgSVidnhr.jpg

25UZG0h.png

inYGk7m.jpgTvNbpxX.jpgW31esv4.jpg

Main event time, another bout set up last week when James challenged Starr and The Crippler to a tag match. Big Money’s partner turned out to be Lenny Brown, a choice the broadcast team tried to justify as Brown still trying to crack his way into the big leagues and needing a big man to have his back after he got beat up last week by Allen, who now also had Bekowski and Spade on his side, if you’ll remember. Well, he’ll continue trying for the time being it seems, as Lenny was the weakest link in that match, even if most of his part was getting beat to set up a hot tag to James. Having the match go on for about 25 minutes didn’t do him any favors either, but at least it gave everyone else time to shine, tell a story and put on an otherwise fantastic, Pay Per View worthy performance.

hqz3ypv.jpg

In another case of a dirty finish done well, James and Brown’s comeback was interrupted by the appearance of another RIPW star, Willy LaRoux, who allowed Hollywood Bret Starr to hit Brown with a Hollywood Hammer for the pin. Apparently LaRoux has aligned himself with The Rat Pack given his fitting gimmick and might serve as a replacement for Justin Sensitive, using the stable to elevate himself and perhaps even feud with Sensitive down the line, but I’m getting ahead of myself and fantasy booking here. Mr. Eisen rated the main event as a 74, for the record.

Overall it was an unspectacular go-home episode, but it did its job of wrapping up stuff, setting up matches and hyping the event to boost buys. We got the three way main title match, Hollywood Bret Starr vs Brandon James, Best of the Best vs Supreme Dream Team and the three way tag match to look to, then Uprising also will contribute with Rogue vs Valiant 2 out of 3 falls, Lau vs Atom Smasher in a Last Man Standing match, The Awesomeness challenging for the tag titles and whatever’s going to happen with the SWF North American title. Not bad at all. As for the new timeslot, it came with reduced viewership but also reduced expectations, as Faith apparently continues to take minor hits if it means he can get some breathing space to rebuild for a big return. For now, the episode would be graded as 73 out of a hundred and I’m waiting for Nothing to Lose to really hit it out of the park.

Episode 6 of American Wrestling in the year 2020 is upon us and it's coming to you live from the President's Hall in Puerto Rico. Let's look at what's in store.

Opening the show again this week will be National Champion
Roger Cage
as he defends his title against a top talent from the islands FCW promotion.
Davis Wayne Newton
has said that he will answer the call of Cage this week. 'The Triple Threat' has been a strong talent on the Independent scene for a decade now and will have a shot at the big time in the title affair.

Women's Champion
Jaime Quine
will be in singles action against
Miss American Pie
. The champion retained her title at Stars, Stripes and Slams! in a triple threat but
Sara Marie
wasn't pinned in the match and is still claiming to be #1 contender to the champion.

For
Alicia Strong
, who was pinned in that triple threat, she has her eyes firmly set on
Pariah
.
Missy Masterson
came up short against Strong last week but will team with Pariah this week to take on Strong's associates in
The Muscle Monsters
in tag team action.

Natural Storm
will be in action in some capacity against some form of
The Business
as Eddie Howard continues his claim to be deserving of a shot at
Rich Money
and is determined to continue to prove his worth.

Tag Team Champions
Jett & Moor
will be in non-title action against
Bad Intentions
who haven't been in action since
Zeus
has seemingly abandoned them in favour of The Business.
The Texas Express
will surely be keeping an eye on this one as they scope out the champions for their impending title match.

Also in the main event
Nicky Champion
will be going one-on-one with
Funky Fedora
. This is a tremendous opportunity for the young strutter as Champion is just returning from injury and claims to still be working off ring rust. Add in to the equation the constant apparent threat of
Steve Frehley
and this should be a very interesting affair.

We'll see you Wednesday.

TMaGVJr.jpg

Hello and welcome to this special edition of the Behind The Curtain Podcast with me, Jo-Ro. This week's American Wrestling is in the books and it's time for our look back, assessment and recap of the show. Let's get into it.

HLSJnbk.jpg

The big 3 don't often venture off the mainland for their shows but USPW did this week as the show drew a sell out of 5,000 fans to the President's Hall in Puerto Rico. Latest reports say that the numbers on Reverie hit 11,570,908 which is down about 50,000 viewers from last weeks show but is still up a million on last months figures.

Segment 1:

National Title:

'Smooth' Roger Cage [vs] 'The Triple Threat' Davis Wayne Newton

The show opened with Roger Cage successfully defending his National Title against FCW talent Davis Wayne Newton. It was an underwhelming match but certainly showcased the talent that DWN has in him and why he's deserving of a bigger platform. FCW only attract around 250 fans to their shows so though may have known him the rest of the crowd didn't and this fed into the reception of the match. Rumor has it though that USPW are offering Newton a full-time exclusive deal with the company. DWN should've been a huge name ten years ago but it seems he may finally be getting a chance. Good luck to him. Again, the match was fine.

(51)

Segment 2:

Cage wasn't given much of an opportunity to celebrate his title retention as he was interrupted by 'The Complete Package' Joss Thompson. Thompson came out and cut a tremendous and concise promo stating that Cage is coasting just now and he needs a real challenge and that he'll not only provide the 'challenge' but take the title to boot. Thompson laid down the gauntlet after his win over Enygma last week and continues to be a highlight every time he's on screen. We know both these guys can talk their ass off so this should be fun.

(84)

Segment 3:

After the commercial break we saw Bulldozer Brandon Smith and Charity Sweet make their way to the ring. Together they cut a good promo calling out Schaffer and crew for their slanted victory at Stars, Stripes and Slams! and offered a best of 5 series between the trios to put this to bed. The challenge was accepted and the first match was to begin straight away.

(63)

Segment 4:

Trent Schaffer & Raven Robinson [vs] Bulldozer Brandon Smith & Charity Sweet

This was a very strong mixed tag team match that entertained everyone and got a strong reaction from the crowd particularly towards Sweet who appears to have struck a positive chord with the younger demographic. The match was good with a lot of offence on both sides that wasn't gender exclusive. The finish came after Smith managed to briefly dispatch of Schaffer, plant Robinson with a strong spinebuster and then tag in Sweet who finished it with her Sugar Smack (shining wizard) finish to a big reaction from the crowd. Good stuff and the best match so far that's involved a variation of these four people.

(73)

Segment 5:

The babyface duo celebrate and high five with the crowd and indulge in the positive reaction to going 1-0 up in the series. They then announce that next week they want Casey Valentine going up against Kirk Jameson to continue the series. Rumor has it that Jameson is currently suffering with a Strained Rotator Cuff which he's apparently working through but could take 2 months to fully heal. It'll be interesting to see how it's handled next week.

(73)

Segment 6:

Bad Intentions [vs] Jett & Moor

We then follow up those hot segments with action from the tag team champions who continue to look strong and formidable as a duo. Bad Intentions are a big, bruising heavyweight duo who are typical USPW 'big guys' and though they're 'fine' together it's hard to get excited about them for the most part and I feel they need work before they'll become the monster heel duo that perhaps USPW initially hoped they would be. A decent match here with The Texas Express appearing and watching from afar as the champions won and looked good in doing so.

(57)

Segment 7:

We were then treated to a vignette that showed a stadium full of rampant fans chanting 'JLP' as a shadowy figure struts onto a stage guitar in hand. He strikes a chord on his acoustic as it fades to black and 'The God of Country: Jerry Lee Perkins' flashes on the screen. This will likely be the continued teasing debut of whom I expect to be Tennessee William. It was a nice vignette but got little reaction from the live crowd.

(37)

Segment 8:

The cameras cut to the backstage area and we saw The Force sitting quietly looking a bit dejected and certainly not like his effervescent and boisterous self. Soon after he's greeted by Natural Storm who proceed to give him a pep talk. They cite his experience, his championships and his stature as reasons that they want him with them. Howard has championship goals and they can strive forward together. Howard had a nice line of:

"You want to prove you can still hang and stay relevant and stay in the game and I want to prove that I'm World Champion worthy and I can be the best! Let's see if we all can't help each other out here?". It worked and it was revealed that The Force will team with them later in the night in 6-man tag action. Solid segment.

(65)

Segment 9:

Missy Masterson & Pariah [vs] The Muscle Monsters

Our third consecutive tag team match of the evening was another solid affair. The Muscle Monsters are an intimidating duo and being paired with Alicia Strong can only be a good thing for them but they're still green and need a lot of work. The upside is that Masterson & Pariah are very good in the ring and can make every match that they are in at least good. Masterson ate up a lot of the offence here with Strong screaming encouragement to her monsters at ringside but a lapse allowed the 'hot tag' to Pariah who fired up! Gloria managed to wrangle Pariah into her feared Full Nelson hold but Pariah couldn't be contained. She wriggled free and rolled up Gloria for the 3 count and the victory and was up the rampway before Strong even realised what had happened. Another solid match.

(64)

Segment 10:

Jaime Quine [vs] Miss American Pie

Sara Marie joined the commentary booth for this one as she watched this match unfold. MAP hasn't been featured much so far this year but the 13 year veteran does have something to consistently offer the women's division. She looked good in the match and had a few near falls in her favour but ultimately Quine is the champ and took the victory with no shenanigans despite the close calls.

(59)

Segment 11:

We were then treated to another teasing vignette but this time hyping the impending arrival of a "Rock God" to USPW. "Sunshine of Your Love" played over the top of the vignette as it faded to black. The vignette went over much better with the crowd than the teasing of a 'God of Country' one and the rumour mill is rife with speculation on who the "Rock God" could be with suggestions of a retired Jack Bruce and TCW star Sammy Bach being mentioned. Watch this space.

(78)

Segment 12:

The Business (Rich Money, Zeus & Sterling Whitlock) [vs] Natural Storm & The Force

This match gave us a shade over ten minutes of good storytelling and a healthy mixture of fun and seriousness. It was a fairly even contest in the early goings with the teams mixing it up before Zeus used a few cheap tactics and got the better of Rayne. Quick tags took over before the 'hot-tag' and comeback spot for the babyfaces. Howard fired up and worked over Zeus & Whitlock (Money avoided him) before tagging in The Force who 'popped' the crowd and pinned Zeus after his Full Force splash for the 3 count. A fun match that the live crowd enjoyed. Money and Howard were smartly kept apart with the indication being that Money is wary of Howard's abilities and does indeed perceive him as a threat.

(73)

Segment 13:

The babyface trio celebrate their victory for those in attendance but Money is displeased. He grabs his title and stands in the ring behind the celebrating trio as though biding his time before striking one in the head. Howard turns first and Money looks set to strike before the other two also quickly turn around and Rich realises that it's a 1 on 3 so ducks out before he's set upon. A fun little post-match angle which shows that Rich is never above cheap shotting an opponent but is smart enough to know when to back off.

(78)

Segment 14:

We jump backstage to Danny Jillefski with a mic in hand who has been accompanied by Mr USPW Nicky Champion. DJ asks a few questions and Champion cuts a classically great promo where he underplays his abilities, hypes his opponents, puts over Frehley but says that Frehley & Bubba aren't enough to keep him down especially when he has Running Wolf watching his back. Great promo from the Icon.

(86)

Segment 15:

Funky Fedora [vs] Nicky Champion

Fedora was unaccompanied for this big match while Champion was, as said, accompanied by Running Wolf to watch for the threat of Frehley. This ten minute main event had everything it needed to be considered a great match. Fedora had big opportunities to get in some offence on the ring rusted Champion. Bubba revealed himself and moved ringside to keep Wolf's focus while Frehley also came ringside to distract Champion. Fedora went for the cheap roll-up but Nicky kicked out at 2.8 and quickly came off the ropes to catch Fedora unawares with his Hawkeye Hammer lariat to put down the youngster and secure the victory. Great entertainment and a great match.

(82)

Segment 16:

The action wasn't over there because as soon as the bell rang Bubba and Wolf started clobbering each other and going at it while Frehley continued to slowly approach Champion who was ready and waiting. The anticipation continued to build but Frehley never attacked Champion. Tavon Blake, Champions opponent last week, did and took out the Icon with a couple of steel chair shots before Wolf rolled in to clear him away. A solid closing angle that highlighted, as Champion said, 2 wasn't enough to take out he and Wolf so in this case a 3rd might be. Blake being paired with Frehley will also only do wonders for the youngster as well in my opinion.

(78)

<div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div>

An 81 is a very fair and good grade for this episode of American Wrestling which, based on the scoring system, puts it as the best episode of their TV this year. USPW continues to build some good stories but struggles to get everyone on TV who needs the time. Despite the big roster the show is compelling and Strong has firmly found her feet as booker as the show is a considerable improvement on what we had a month ago as they continue to push and showcase young talent without over exposing them and having them wrestle 20 minutes for an audience who aren't overly interested in them. USPW are supposed to be the biggest of the big 3 in the US and they're now putting on the shows that suggest that should be the case.

Til next time friends, I'm Jo-Ro.
