THE WORLDWIDE LEADER IN MIXED MARTIAL ARTS

GAMMA.COM -- JANUARY 1, 2002

THE ANARCHIST REIGNS SUPREME

GAMMA Middleweight Champion "The Anarchist" Matthew Dean has been named the Pound For Pound #1 MMA fighter in the world, both in the GAMMA rankings and by noted independent source Blurcat. This comes on the heels of his December fight against noted wrestler Osmosis Benn where Dean, for the second time, submitted Benn via rear naked choke to maintain his choke-hold hold the GAMMA Middleweight division. Dean has been atop the stacked division since defeating inaugural champion "The Executioner" Marteen de Vries at GAMMA 11 all the way back in 1996! Since then, Dean has made nine successful defenses against the best GAMMA has to offer, and he has finished most of those opponents in the process.

In addition to his rankings accolades, Dean recently announced plans to found his own team. Based out of Dean's hometown of San Jose, California,Anarchy MMA is sure to be one of the premier places to train. While Dean didn't hint at any potential teammates, one can only assume that any fighter would count themselves lucky to train with "The Anarchist."

GAMMA FEATHERWEIGHT DIVISION ANNOUNCED

After using the first two seasons of Clash of the Titans to bolster the big man divisions, season three is taking a different direction: featherweights. GAMMA is working to secure two top names in the division from outside the organization to work as coaches for the season, and meet to crown the inaugural GAMMA Featherweight champion at the conclusion of the season. Of course, the two finalists from each team will meet in an officially sanctioned fight to crown a season three winner as well. More details coming soon!

GAMMA 50 FIGHT CARD FINALIZED

Three weeks out from GAMMA 50 in California, GAMMA President Matt Tripp sat down with Steven Monk and Chris Wyatt on Blurcat's The Crackdown recently and ran down the ten-fight card for milestone event GAMMA 50. Headlined by a Light Heavyweight title rematch between champion "The Calgary Assassin" Mike Watson and "The Reaper" Spencer Rubenstein, the card will also see a Super Heavyweight title match with champion George "Guillotine" Pickering defending against the undefeated Hanley "The Great White" Polter. In a special co-main event, Bobby "All-Star" Brubaker takes on Yevgeni Sipatov.

MAIN EVENT FOR GAMMA 51 ANNOUNCED

In a bout many have been anticipating since it was announced, the next GAMMA Lightweight title fight now has a home, and it's at GAMMA 51! Lightweight champion Jake "The Natural Talent" Keane defends against the undefeated Fiyero Lermentov! While an undercard has yet to be announced, this exciting fight has already sold a fair number of tickets in Colorado.

MAJOR FIGHT WEEK PLANNED FOR NEVADA IN MARCH

Nevada will play host to GAMMA Fight Week in March! That means Battle Lines 6 will be held on Friday, and GAMMA 52 will take place on Saturday. Cards are already taking shape, with GAMMA 52 set to host a GAMMA Welterweight title match between champion "Spanish Silk" Julio Regueiro set to defend against number one contender Manuel "The Prodigy" Silva. Though only 1-0 in GAMMA, Silva is 19-0 overall and a meeting with Reguiero has been hotly anticipated since Silva joined GAMMA in September.

CLASH OF THE TITANS SEASON THREE COACHES, FIGHTERS ANNOUNCED!

VsGE2c3.gifUvhNyAI.gif

In a blockbuster announcement today, GAMMA President Matt Tripp has revealed the coaches for season three of Clash of the Titans! Former XCC Featherweight champion and nationally recognized fighter Philip "Kid" Ziskie has joined GAMMA as a Featherweight division headliner, and he'll step into the head coach role as he prepares for his own Featherweight championship fight against the coach of the other team... and what a reveal on the second coach!

Stepping down in weight, former Lightweight champion and longtime GAMMA standout Brandon "Sugar Rush" Sugar is joining the Featherweight division and he'll play head coach to the second team of fighters. Premiering this Wednesday, Tripp and other GAMMA staff have narrowed the field of fighters down to sixteen finalists who will compete to join Team Ziskie or Team Sugar and their chance to become a GAMMA Titan!

Matt Tripp also presented those sixteen fighters at the press conference, who were all shocked when they learned who their potential coaches would be for the season. Among the sixteen are several professional fighters, all with ten or fewer professional fights, who will be competing with some amateurs-turned-pro. Among the professional fighters, you'll find Richie "The Killer" Stiller, an MMA fighter from Quebec; Alejandro "Lobo" Laguera, another XCC fighter looking to make a name in GAMMA; Freddy "The Ax" Lomax, England's only representative this season; Gonzalo "The Gangsta" Ramos, a colorful character sure to make viewers love him or hate him; Mexican featherweight Hugo Cruz; New Jersey judo practitioner Ned ButterfieldPat "Blue Boy" Troy, a blue-haired jiu jitsu fighter; Ryan "Prime Time" Landingham, a submission wrestler; and Canadian Tyler "Black Ops" Aidi.

On the amateur side, there's Chicago's own Darren "The Trojan" Morgan; Santa Ana, California's Earl Alvarez, one of several kick boxers searching for GAMMA glory;
Howard Freebush, a kick boxing Texan; "The All-American Boy" Joshua Abbott, an Asian-American born and raised in Stockton, California; Joshua Thesz, a wrestler from Columbus, Ohio; Micheal Crockett, an 18-year old kick boxer; and Randall "The Jokester" Doyle, another Texan but this one a muay thai practitioner.

Season three of Clash of the Titans premieres this Wednesday, only on CANN!

THE WORLDWIDE LEADER IN MIXED MARTIAL ARTS

CLASH OF THE TITANS, S03E01 RECAP

This season, Clash of the Titans focuses on the brand new Featherweight division, and features two top ranked coaches. Philip "Kid" Ziskie has sat atop the Featherweight rankings in the United States and around the world for some time before making his way to the GAMMA cage. Brandon "Sugar Rush" Sugar is no stranger to the cage, having fought a veritable who's who of the GAMMA Lightweight division. Now these two men will step into the cage across from one another to crown the first ever GAMMA Featherweight Champion... but first, it's time for these men to coach.

Sixteen fighters from all over North America and even further out have come together in search of GAMMA glory. Alejandro "Lobo" Laguera is the first to arrive at the training center, and the viewers get to see a lot of his personality shine through in his interviews. Second to arrive to Gonzalo "The Gangsta" Ramos, and the viewers are introduced to perhaps the most colorful character in Clash of the Titans history. Ramos and Laguera get off on the wrong foot, and some tension can be felt as Ramos claims no one can best him in the cage.

Before long, the coaches and the rest of the fighters arrive and the teams begin to take shape. Ziskie says he likes characters, you have to be marketable in addition to being a good fighter to make it in GAMMA. Sugar says he's looking for men who are willing to train hard to reach their goals, because he's never once in his life gotten something he didn't bust his ass to earn. Ziskie earns first pick, and his team starts with Laguera, while Sugar's first pick is amateur fighter Darren "The Trojan" Morgan. The coaches go back and forth, while the fighters joke about Tyler "Black Ops" Aidi being "Mr. Irrelevant" because he's the last one waiting to be picked. The teams shape up like this...

TEAM ZISKIE

  • Alejandro "Lobo" Laguera
  • Freddy "The Ax" Lomax
  • Gonzalo "The Gangsta" Ramos
  • Howard Freebush
  • Micheal Crockett
  • Pat "Blue Boy" Troy
  • Randal "The Jokester" Doyle
  • Earl Alvarez

TEAM SUGAR

  • Darren "The Trojan" Morgan
  • Hugo Cruz
  • "The All-American Boy" Joshua Abbott
  • Joshua Thesz
  • Ned Butterfield
  • Richie "The Killer" Stiller
  • Ryan "Prime Time" Landingham
  • Tyler "Black Ops" Aidi

We get to know the fighters, where they're from, their history in the fight game, where they train, and more. Not long after the groups separate to train in their own gyms, GAMMA President Matt Tripp shows up to call everyone back into the main gym. He says he's looking for for fighters willing to step up on a moment's notice before letting everyone know that the first qualifying fight won't be at the end of the week, but tonight! Coaches will have final say over who fights tonight, but Tripp asks if anyone is willing to step up and put their dreams on the line.

Ramos says he was born ready, and he doesn't need Ziskie's permission to step up and fight. Ziskie says he likes that attitude, and confirms Ramos will fight for his team tonight. Sugar tells his team to be smart; he knows they're all hungry, but Ramos is a professional fighter with an impressive record and he'd like to see one of the other professionals step up. Richie "The Killer" Stiller says he'll take the fight; he's been waiting for this moment his whole life, and he plans to impress Tripp, Sugar, and everyone watching at home with the way he finishes Ramos.

We see each man training for the qualifier while Tripp talks about the importance of exciting fights and the tenacity of people fighting in the featherweight division. Tripp says these featherweights have been waiting a long time for their recognition in GAMMA, and that time is finally here.

QUALIFIER: RAMOS VERSUS STILLER

Despite a lot of talk about finishing his fight in impressive fashion, Ramos does not manage to finish Stiller here as the pair go the distance in rounds. Tripp and his judges score the fight in favor of Ramos, who looked dominant and went for several submissions, but Stiller fought him off each time. Nevertheless, Stiller never landed a significant blow or seemed to get momentum on his side. Tripp compliments Ramos on his impressive cardio, but warns him not to let his mouth write checks his ass can't cash. If you promise something exciting to GAMMA fans, you deliver or else.

WINNER, BY UNANIMOUS DECISION: GONZALO "THE GANGSTA" RAMOS

Stiller calls the moment bittersweet as he packs up to leave, saying he made it this far and promising we've not seen the last of him. Ramos claims he did exactly what he said he'd do, and he's ready to do it again. Ziskie and Sugar shake hands to end the show, and Tripp announces that, for the first time ever, the Clash of the Titans season finale will be held during fight week in June! A season three winner will be crowned at the finals, and a Featherweight champion crowned that Saturday on PPV!

THE WORLDWIDE LEADER IN MIXED MARTIAL ARTS

CLASH OF THE TITANS, S03E02 RECAP

The show opens with a recap of last week, introducing the sixteen fighters and showcasing Gonzalo “The Gangsta” Ramos’ qualifier victory. Ramos is a very brash character, bragging about finishing Richie Stiller even though the fight went to a decision. We also see Matt Tripp’s visit and his words of wisdom to the fighters on both teams. The recap also includes some yet-to-be-seen footage of Philip “Kid” Ziskie and Brandon “Sugar Rush” Sugar training for their upcoming title fight.

This week’s episode begins in the Team Ziskie gym where Randall “The Jokester” Doyle is showing off how he got his nickname, cracking up the other fighters including Ziskie and some of the coaching staff. GAMMA President Matt Tripp shows up and chastises the team for goofing off, telling them they’ll never be ready for fight night if all they’re doing is belly laughing. Meanwhile, over in the Team Sugar gym, Brandon Sugar is watching tape with his team, pointing out flaws in his past opponents that allowed him to capitalize and win.

There’s a lot of camaraderie shown from both teams in this episode, and lots of personality from all the fighters. It all leads up to fight night, with Ziskie and Sugar choosing their team representatives this time around; Hugo Cruz will fight for Team Sugar while Micheal Crockett steps up for Team Ziskie.

QUALIFIER: CRUZ VERSUS CROCKETT

Matt Tripp spends a lot of the fight, where Crockett does not look good, talking about how he was right about all of the joking around and horseplay in the Team Ziskie gym. It’s hard to argue with the GAMMA President, as Crockett never really gets anything going and submits to an armbar in the first round.

WINNER, BY SUBMISSION: HUGO CRUZ

Crockett looks dejected as he packs up to leave, calling it the biggest disappointment of his life. Tripp tells him not to give up on fighting, but to give up on the jokes in training if he ever hopes to make it to GAMMA. There’s a hint of tension between Tripp and Doyle, where Tripp tells him to give it a rest unless he wants the rest of his team to go home.

GAMMA 50: WATSON vs RUBENSTEIN II

BLURCAT.COM PREVIEW

Welcome to Blurcat’s pre-show analysis of GAMMA 50: Watson vs Rubenstein II! Being held in California, this is GAMMA’s first show of the year and first since GAMMA 49 in December 2001. We’re due to have five main show fights, plus five preliminary bouts, for a total of ten fights. All fighters have made weight, so now it's just a few hours to fight time!

Main event is Mike Watson (14-1, 9-1 GAMMA) taking on Spencer Rubenstein (18-5, 8-1 GAMMA) for the GAMMA Light Heavyweight title.

Also on the show:

  • For the GAMMA Super Heavyweight title: Champion George Pickering defends against Hanley Polter.
  • GAMMA’s #5 ranked Lightweight Sean Morrison, who lost a unanimous decision to Fiyero Lermentov in his previous fight at GAMMA 48: Foster vs Hughes. Morrison is looking for a quick turnaround only two months removed from the loss as he takes on “Mr. Intensity” Bruce Steven.
  • #4 ranked Heavyweight Rav Kapur, coming off a unanimous decision win against Fatuma Roy at GAMMA 47, takes on Tank Manu’a.
  • Bobby “All-Star” Brubaker, the #5 ranked Welterweight in GAMMA, will be taking on GAMMA living legend Yevgeni Sipatov.

“The Calgary Assassin” Mike Watson versus Spencer “The Reaper” Rubenstein

  • Watson is making his first defense of the GAMMA Light Heavyweight title. If Rubenstein wins, it would mark the beginning of his second reign with the belt.
  • These two have fought once before, way back at GAMMA 22 in 1998. Rubenstein won by unanimous decision in that meeting; will history repeat itself here?
  • This is Watson’s fourth time main eventing for GAMMA, Rubenstein’s seventh.
  • Mike Watson has taken 3 of his last 5 fights by knockout, including winning the Light Heavyweight belt from Marlon John.
  • In addition to being ranked #1 and #2 in GAMMA, both are world ranked with Rubenstein at #3 and Watson at #6.
  • This is a rare fight between teammates, as both train at Animal House.
  • Rubenstein is likely to have a significant weight advantage in the fight after rehydrating from weigh-ins.
  • Blurcat Staff Picks have Rubenstein winning, 6 votes to 1.

Bobby “All-Star” Brubaker versus Yevgeni Sipatov

  • Brubaker has won 3 of his last 5 fights by knock out.
  • Both fighters are world ranked, with Brubaker at #11 and Sipatov at #12.
  • Brubaker trains at Strike Force; Sipatov is 0-1 against other Strike Force members.
  • Blurcat Staff Picks has Sipatov taking it, 7-0.

George “Guillotine” Pickering versus Hanley “The Great White” Polter

  • Pickering is making his second defense of the GAMMA Super Heavyweight title; if successful, this would be a new record for the belt.
  • Both fighters are world ranked at Super Heavyweight, Pickering at #2 and Polter at #5
  • Blurcat Staff Picks have Pickering taking it, 6-1 in votes.

“The Man With No Nickname” Sean Morrison versus “Mr. Intensity” Bruce Steven

  • These two have fought once before, all the way back at GAMMA 7 in 1995; Morrison won by unanimous decision.
  • Morrison is the #11 world-ranked Lightweight, Steven is #12.
  • Morrison trains at Animal House, and Steven is undefeated against Animal House fighters.
  • The Las Vegas betting line shows Morrison as the heavy favorite to win.
  • Blurcat Staff Picks have Morrison winning, 7 votes to none.

“The Beast of Birmingham” Rav Kapur versus “Sweet Baby” Tank Manu’a

  • Kapur has finished 3 of his last 5 opponents.
  • Kapur is ranked as the #17 Heavyweight in the world, Manu’a at #19.
  • Blurcat Staff Picks have Kapur winning, 5-2.

Michael Petkovic versus Joey “Bulldog” Baddell

  • This is a rematch of sorts, as the two met during season two of Clash of the Titans; Baddell out-pointed Petkovic to move on in that fight.
  • Petkovic will enjoy a significant weight and reach advantage in his GAMMA debut.
  • Blurcat Staff Picks have Petkovic overwhelmingly winning, 7 votes to none.

Dana “Danger Man” Delaney versus Cooper “The Phoenix” Richardson

  • Richardson trains at Pittsburgh Steel, while Delaney is 0-1 against his teammates.
  • Blurcat has Delaney as the underdog, 1 vote to 6.

Isaiah “Thump” Monroe versus Ethan “The Terror” Sutton

  • The Las Vegas betting lines, and Blurcat Staff Picks, have Monroe as the heavy favorite to win.

Guillermo “T-Bone” Morales versus “The Man of Steel” Ken Peters

  • Peters will have an 11-inch reach advantage.
  • Blurcat Staff Picks have Morales winning, 7 votes to none.

Charles “Rogue” Stiles versus “The Blonde Bomber” Nicholas Bretton

  • Stiles hasn’t won a fight since 1999, but is considered the heavy favorite here.
  • Blurcat Staff Picks go for Stiles at 7 votes to none.

I absolutely love the presentation of this! I can't wait to see what comes next in YOUR world of Mixed Martial Arts. :D

Thank you so much! I'm bouncing between working on an original mod for TEW2020 and doing this dynasty when I need a break from that, so there may be some lengthy delays between posts in here. But I think I have some pretty good stuff cooked up, so long as the world unfolding doesn't throw a wrench in things.

THE WORLDWIDE LEADER IN MIXED MARTIAL ARTS

CLASH OF THE TITANS, S03E03 RECAP

A recap of the past two weeks opens the show, focusing on the fourteen remaining fighters as much as possible. We see a lot of footage of Alejandro Laguera, and a good montage of Hugo Cruz’s submission victory in the eliminator fight last week. Cruz is much more respectful than week one winner, Gonzalo “The Gangsta” Ramos, shown shaking Micheal Crockett’s hand following the fight.

This week we start, once again, in the Team Ziskie gym where Randall “The Jokester” Doyle is still cracking jokes but also shown to train hard. He talks candidly about how he feels about GAMMA President Matt Tripp calling him a goof-off, and says he plans to prove him wrong one way or another. Laguera and Doye bond while training some takedown defense with their coach, Philip “Kid” Ziskie.

We switch over to the Team Sugar gym where Brandon “Sugar Rush” Sugar is going over tape of last week’s fight with his team. He says Cruz was good last week, and he expects the best out of every member of his team when they step into the cage. There doesn’t seem to be as much camaraderie from Team Sugar as there is on Team Ziskie, they’re much more about business and training.

Matt Tripp shows up at the gym and wants to know who is fighting this week, and he wants the coaches to pick their representatives this week. Since Cruz won last week, Team Sugar gets to select their fighter second so they can pick an advantageous matchup. Ziskie selects Pat “Blue Boy” Troy, calling him an unorthodox fighter that will be tough to match-up with an opponent. Sugar thinks that Ryan “Prime Time” Landingham can solve that problem. Tripp says, “let’s get it on!”

QUALIFIER: LANDINGHAM VERSUS TROY

Matt Tripp is impressed with both fighters in this contest, and they put on a good fight that goes the distance.

WINNER, BY DECISION: PAT TROY

Landingham is shown packing up his locker with a voiceover from him about how we haven’t seen the last of him in GAMMA. Philip Ziskie teases Brandon Sugar about his difficult pick to fight when Sugar was supposed to have an advantage; he likens it to their upcoming fight where Sugar has all the big fight experience, but Ziskie is going to turn heads when he wins. Sugar calls that a nice fantasy, and we see the first true hints on tension between the two competitors beyond friendly competition in this episode.
