Latest Patch

The latest retail patch is 1.22, which is available here: DOWNLOAD

The latest trial patch is 1.11, which is available here: DOWNLOAD

To install, simply unzip the file to your desktop and run the program that was inside it. Make sure to choose the folder where CBU is currently installed! Note that you must have CBU already installed on your machine in order to patch it.

Bug Fixes

- Importing sites could create a crash

- Character selection for some freak / monster of the week issues could glitch

Bug Fixes

- A potential crash could happen during combat if a side had several members all with extraordinarily high star ratings

Bug Fixes

- Cloning a site would cause a crash

- A crash could happen if the heroes were successful in a quest to remove an artifact from a villain

- Token-spend attacks against multiple targets would remove tokens for each rather than once

- There was a graphical glitch where some token-based powers didn't show detailed damage and target data

Bug Fixes

- Importing factions into a live game would cause a crash

- It was possible for characters set to be permanently in a single location to occasionally travel to take part in an issue

- The Last Stand power had a graphical glitch where it would show the targeting button

- (Part II) Fixed potential RTE3265 in 'look_for_outsmartable_powers' that was present in the original 1.19

User-Requested Changes

- Added Remove Stun From Self and Remove Stun From Ally powers

- Added Self Damage power

- Added Psychic / mental attack versions of Outsmart Single Power and Outsmart All Powers

- Added two powers to avoid being stunned, one for any attack and one for bodily damage only

- The consequences table when the heroic side suffers a death now takes into account the respective relationships

- Altered the Rogues Gallery screen to only show currently active primary characters

1.18 (January 09 2023)

Bug Fixes

- The non-token versions of patching up or mystically healing an ally were incorrectly passive effects

- It was possible for a character with Remains Isolated to start a new friendship during the post-issue phase

- It was possible for a villainous character to move to a sniper's nest sometimes even if the location didn't have one

- The two Outsmart Lures and Telepathy powers could incorrectly appear listed as potential blocks when targeting an AI opponent

- The AI could occasionally illegally use a Desperation Ploy more than once per puzzle

- During puzzles, some free powers would remain unused by the AI

- If using the setting where there is a click to reveal each dice individually, you would lose 2 re-rolls rather than 1

Bug Fixes

- RTE3265 could occur upon recovering an artifact from a villainous character

- RTE6 could occur on screens in which teams for combat were being displayed if the mod was set up with extremely high star ratings leading to team star totals in the hundreds

- RTE3265 could occur during encounters with specific combinations of stat modifiers being in play

- Searching by Outsmart Attack / Defence when selecing a puzzle team would cause a crash

- Runtime Error 6 could occur when the AI is creating teams for the next stage if the mod had locations with an unusually high volume of characters with very high star ratings

User-Requested Changes

- Added eight new storyline / reactive event requirements regarding the current Balance Of Power level

- Added three new storyline / reactive event effects that allow the Balance Of Power to be reset or set to either extreme

- Changed the way storyline frequency works to be better for mods that have a high volume of storylines

- Added a Counter Strategist power that does the reverse of Combat Strategist

Bug Fixes

- Characters knocked out by self damage would incorrectly trigger relationship effects

- Some characters could illegally use powers to avoid shockwave attacks

- The advantages of the Blaze Of Glory position did not always display correctly when using the targeting screen

- Added 8 new heroic quests allowing the redemption of villains to turn them to heroes / anti-heroes

- Added a new Major Heist crime scheme

- Did some work on characters with melee attacks preferring to stay safe at range rather than make riskier attacks

Bug Fixes

- Did some work on reducing the number of times that a bonus from winning the previous encounter is not usable in the subsequent encounter

Changes

- Added new travel abilities for factions when they are set to travel together

- Altered it so that villains not set to team up with anyone won't appear as part of teams in heroic quests

Bug Fixes

- Using the power to halve a dice roll to gain that many tokens wouldn't function properly on an even dice roll

- Spending tokens to use an attacking power would not correctly remove the tokens from the character's total

User-Requested Changes

- Added 51 new powers, giving damage increase versions of all the existing damage reduction powers

- Added 16 new powers, giving mental attack versions of the existing 'outsmart to reduce X' powers

1.10 (November 21 2022)

Bug Fixes

- Three 'support' powers could be used by the AI irrespective of the health levels they've been set for

- Travel and faction requirements specifying a custom power would always cause a block

- Runtime Error 3380 if using a database that had been used to import into a save game

User-Requested Changes

- Altered combat so that the opening turn limit of 3 actions only applies to the side going first

- Added a set of new storyline / reactive event effects that alter the Balance of Power

- Added a new power, 'Thief', and included it as a new potential requirement for team membership and travel

- Fixed an issue where characters could be moved by the AI into illegal positions on the battlefield

- Fixed a couple of minor issues with powers not working properly in some circumstances

- Fixed some linking errors that could occur when cloning data from a different database

Bug Fixes

- AI controlled characters could ignore a location / site's terrain settings in some circumstances

- Identity switches linked to faction membership could create a loop if both identities had characters links that specified factions were to be updated

- Some token-based powers would not function correctly

- There would be a crash if a character was framed by a villain and had at least one positive relationship

- Added a new token type, Ammunition

- Added a new power, Long-Range Teleportation, created a new subset including it called Interplanetary Travel, and tied both into the team membership and travel rules

Bug Fixes

- RTE13 crash if trying to use HP during puzzle encounters

- RTE3021 if trying to illegally use HP for a villain character

- RTE3265 during loading / character progression content if a character was switching identities

- RTE91 if trying to use the Titanic Tussle content type

- RTE2010 if trying to use a database that was created via the Turn To Database option (databases generated under a previous patch are not usable and should be deleted)

- Some 'self' powers, such as giving yourself more rolls, would not function due to having 0 targets

- Characters could start in illegal ranged positions in some encounters if the team going first was not being rolled for

- Storyline content that was assigned a cover image would not display it correctly

- New relationships could occasionally be created that didn't make sense

User-Requested Changes

- Changed the side bar during encounters to make it clearer that the user can save and exit mid-way through

- Added post-issue 'meanwhile' content to the Past Issues section and allowed it to be filtered out if needed

- Altered the dropdown menu during encounters to allow the user to easily filter between action and non-action powers

- Changed the hero selection screen for encounters to show each character's combat setting in caps at the top of the screen to make it easier to see that information

- Changed the text at the top of character screens to give non-active status text in caps so that it's more obvious at a glance when someone is away for some reason

- Added a section on token-based powers to the handbook as some users were having issues

- Altered the News section to not use 'as a result of a consequence roll' as the text but to use more immersive language

- Altered opening battle cries to allow them to be targeted to a specific enemy

- Altered the targeting screen to show more relevant powers if attempting to increase or decrease an attacking skill

- Added the ability to edit the text for past issues (via options > editor)

- Altered the puzzle screen to show whether heroes have used actions or backfired via text next to their name
