Had to sign up to get patches. Thought I'd share what's happening in my game. It won't be particularly elaborate. Thanks to the redesigned logos etc, I can't remember exactly where they're from, so thank you to whoever they are from.

HalloWarped | Halloween Knight | Pumpkin Jack

F.E.A.R. (Four Extreme Agents of the Revolution) were ZEN's first big rudo stable, with Halloween Knight, Cyanide, Massacre and Necromancer as its line-up. It was reformed in 2021, this time as the tecnico Four Earth Agents of Rebellion (currently 3.E.A.R), to lead the fight back against the Alien Armada. The new F.E.A.R. was an unlikely alliance of Pumpkin Jack, Pink Spider, Halloween Knight and HalloWarped although he group lost Pink Spider to the Alien Armada in February, and have fallen to infighting since then. Can they bring it back together to lead ZEN to victory over the invading alien threat?

Kalliope Woodchuck | Celestina Cherish | Hez Jendell

One of the most wholesome and loved acts in ZEN, a trio of souls who have found each other from across the cosmos. Despite their hatred of Karrg and company, alien entity Hez Jendell had found herself mistrusted by the ZEN locker room, that was until a blossoming friendship with Celestina Cherish. The pair lifted each other up through boundless positivity, and in March they were joined by Kalliope Woodchuck, who was in the midst of a breakout performance in the ZEN: Art Of Winning tournament, rebuilding her identity and self belief after the trauma of her boyfriend being mind-controlled by Karrg and The Malothian.

Devilfish | Lone Shark

Lone Shark has returned to ZEN after many years away and has realigned himself with ex-partner Devilfish. The duo have stepped up to face the Alien Armada, being key allies of 3.E.A.R, whilst also continuing Devilfish's issues with Skullduggery. The duo are aiming to do the one thing they have yet to achieve in ZEN, win the Harmony Titles!

Karrg The Insidious | Man O'War | Laguna The Loyal

Deathwatch Beetle | The Malothian | Buckminster Snark | Toady

Pink Spider | Bile

Led by Karrg in his ongoing attempt to stage a takeover of Earth, the Alien Armada is the latest and biggest threat to ZEN. Since reforming following Karrg's return in 2021, the group has expanded its membership significantly and now has strength in numbers as well as a single-minded determination to destroy the tecnicos. Going into 2022 they hold all of the titles in ZEN, both physical and conceptual. Alien beings Karrg, Laguna, Deathwatch Beetle and the terrifying Malothian (due to brainwashing powers of his vice like claw) are joined by human turncoat Man O'War and the brainwashed Bucky Snark and Toady, whose brainwashing led to them turning on loved ones (Snark on Kalliope Woodchuck) and long term tag team partners (Toady on HalloWarped). Since then they have added the brainwashed Pink Spider and Bile to their ranks. Can anybody stop them? What else does Karrg have in-store for ZEN, the New Zealand public, and the inhabitants of planet earth?

Cyanide | Lerone Slim | Rekha

Trevor Feather | Vortex | Dee Lucketti | w/ Guru Vishni

Skullduggery are Cyanide's rudo group in ZEN, a staple of the company's storylines since 2018. Other than Cyanide himself, the line-up has changed quite frequently over the years, although Lerone Slim and Rekha are usually involved in some capacity. The current incarnation sees the group tied up with the reopened ZEN Dojo (a method of advertising this within storylines), with Cyanide wanting to use his unethical, excessive and violent techniques on the trainees within the dojo. The group hold themselves up as the superior to the tecnicos due to their any means necessary approach. The 'casual violence' of Slim and Rekha, the explosive stiff strikes and drops of Vortex, and the psychological warfare of Trevor Feather. Cyanide took Dee Lucketti under his wing in January 2022, making him the newest apprentice in the Skullduggery group.

RATING: 43

HalloweenKnight.jpg.4429b5c8596d6f978bbf90f015ecc309.jpgTanikoJo.jpg.37dfd14b2bf2a7519fa20b49a5fe5a97.jpg

Backstage segment - Halloween Knight + Taniko Jo deliver a prophecy {43 rating}
Halloween Knight introduces an unnamed fortune teller (played by Taniko Jo) that he visited who revealed a prophecy of hope for the future of ZEN, wrestling and the human race. The fortune teller repeats that the "one to change the tide" in the war with The Alien Armada will emerge victorious from a tournament. Knight announces a 16-person tournament, open to earthlings and "human beings only", beginning at an event in "2 weeks time". It will be called "ZEN: Art Of Winning"!

In-Ring segment - Trevor Feather and Vortex announced for "ZEN: Art of Winning" {42 rating}
The members of Skullduggery are accompanied by Guru Vishni. Their contrasting demeanors, colour schemes and personalities are played off for some laughs. Both competitors are announced for the Art Of Winning tournament.

TrevorFeather.jpg.853d446f95c7106a6b3b0289acb49112.jpgVortex.jpg.bd31d8786456457a5fb78fd9ac1c5181.jpg w/ GuruVishni.jpg.18d0d52e5ecf95b0cb50ea9adafc8acf.jpg   d. BlueFlea.jpg.30df6b3028643aacc31e81e864ab21c3.jpgFerdyLloyd.jpg.0fda29fe19676c415070cfcfc1cc07fe.jpg

1. Trevor Feather and Vortex (w/Guru Vishni), representing Skulllduggery d. Ferdy and The Flea of Blue Flea and Ferdy Lloyd, in 9:31 {42 rating}
Vortex was ferocious, Feather was cocky - the tecnico team launched some high spot based offence but whenever momentum built Guru Vishni would provide a distraction. Despite clear aesthetic differences, Vortex and Trevor Feather are an effective unit. Feather defeats Flea after a combo Superkick/Feather Ruffler with Vortex.

ZERO.jpg.91e5d4f34353b9d7f1c33cc9a0fc0466.jpg d. UrbanFox.jpg.50b393d8038e11dd93b894cc487b0582.jpg

2. ZERO d. Urban Fox, in 8:29 {47 rating}
A match to showcase ZERO. Urban Fox gave as good as he gets, but came up short, submitting quickly whilst being contorted in the Holding Out For A Zero. Following the match ZERO also announces himself for the Art Of Winning tournament - time for him to sit back on top of ZEN {30 rating}.

DeathwatchBeetle.jpg.7d06e03e863d79afa98a1ac514d86116.jpg d. HezJendell.jpg.ba0700e22df4ef9b146c0efdd174a599.jpg

3. Deathwatch Beetle d. "Alien-Squared" Hez Jendell, in 11:26, to retain the ZEN Conceptual Title {28 rating}
The two competitors here did not have good chemistry, which really affected the quality of the match. Ran too long for the competitors involved, which didn't help. Jendell showed fighting spirit and took huge amounts of damage, however if they were looking to avenge their home planet against the Alien Armada, this was not going to be the day to do it. Beetle put Jendell (and the audience) out of their misery by finishing a punch combo with a big Discuss Punch. This was the first defence of the championship.

Karrg.jpg.5097ae0407bb65ee6e0872efd75b50f1.jpgHezJendell.jpg.ba0700e22df4ef9b146c0efdd174a599.jpg

In-Ring segment - Karrg tells Hez to save herself {37 rating}
Karrg the Insidious comes out and mocks Hez Jendell in defeat. He tells her to 'leave' the humans to perish - thank herself that she was spared and not to get in their way here or they might not be as forgiving - tells them to watch the main event, F.E.A.R will be destroyed, there will be no hope.

BruceStrange.jpg.d8eefcf28c86341313cc368fd56d2433.jpgMisterHyde.jpg.1e35b3e1eb07b39141f79a3fb8746b0f.jpg -> CrimeBuster.jpg.95f6dfef8e4eb0376ad15c83f9890beb.jpg -> ElAvatar.jpg.900159b7ff84c8c1034b370224a48362.jpg

In-Ring segment - Ghost Busting! {29 rating}
Bruce Strange and Mister Hyde come ringside and Bruce begins to serenade the crowd with stories of hauntings within the arena. They look to coax and con the attendees into paying them extra for a guided 'ghost tour' of the venue, Hyde begins threatening to audience to do so. Sirens blare and Zen's enforcer of law, order and justice comes out. Back and forth arguments with Crime Buster promising to teach them a lesson. "Who and what army?". Crime Buster says he has been given a new partner, a rookie from 'the academy'. A sure thing, the best rookie cop there is. He introduces "Blue Chip".

 CrimeBuster.jpg.95f6dfef8e4eb0376ad15c83f9890beb.jpgElAvatar.jpg.900159b7ff84c8c1034b370224a48362.jpg d. BruceStrange.jpg.d8eefcf28c86341313cc368fd56d2433.jpgMisterHyde.jpg.1e35b3e1eb07b39141f79a3fb8746b0f.jpg

4. Crime Buster and Blue Chip d. The Ghost Hunters of Bruce Strange and Mister Hyde, in 7:54 {38 rating}
Blue Chip seems to be a high flyer, he got some exciting offence in. Nothing too extravagant but some interesting dives and flips. However, his size soon led to him suffering an extended beatdown from The Ghost Hunters who trapped him on their side of the ring. A hot tag eventually happens and Crime Buster cleans house, finishing Bruce Strange with a big Spinebuster for the first victory for the tecnicos this evening, a particularly popular one with the children in the crowd.

Cyanide.jpg.fd5fb7a3cf38abf5b3f132257e4c64e0.jpg d. CelestinaCherish.jpg.ca7a827fb00d9127e883b67cd6894923.jpg

5. Cyanide, of Skullduggery d. Celestina Cherish, in 9:56 {44 rating}
Cyanide playing the part of 'toughing up the rookies'. He obliterates Cherish, however she refuses to give up. At times he cockily ventures into exhibition style territory and offers advice to Cherish, although this is through put downs and barbs. Cherish gets a breathtakingly close nearfall by reversing Cyanide's patented Brainbuster finish into a small package, but Cyanide follows this with a particularly snappy Skull Splitter for the victory.

KillerB.jpg.7f47d44370f0b82d79e09beb4c636ed5.jpg w/ MollyCuddle.jpg.3f6d8b84ca2937f04bab66d9489ff614.jpg d. BoosterBoy.jpg.bf7d4066d86ecf602c317f52bb6075c4.jpg

6. Killer B (w/Molly Cuddle) d. Booster Boy, in 9:20 {47 rating}
Both competitors are announced to be part of the Art of Winning tournament, so this match will provide all important momentum heading into the knockout brackets. Killer B plays the 'white meat babyface' within this match with Booster Boy being cocky and obnoxious throughout, antagonising the crowd. Booster Boy attempts to flirt and charm Molly Cuddle, who looks repulsed by his attention. This only fires up Killer B, who blasts Booster Boy with his B-Sting knee strike for an easy 3-count.

LeroneSlim.jpg.aa70367b8ffba9d8a157536d58ba07e2.jpgRekha.jpg.100f4d39d2bcc2e581d50817fa8c0f5e.jpg w/ GuruVishni.jpg.18d0d52e5ecf95b0cb50ea9adafc8acf.jpg d. Devilfish.jpg.1ae479e98caa5beef6475491fe1e1cc9.jpgKalliopeWoodchuck.jpg.5edbe5840a33a2841e0c0c837357e829.jpg

7. Casual Violence of Lerone Slim and Rekha (w/Guru Vishni), representing Skullduggery d. Devilfish and Kalliope Woodchuck, in 17:39 {45 rating}
Devilfish and Kalliope combine forces to try and get momentum in their respective fights with Skullduggery. Devilfish and Cyanide are long term enemies whose disagreements have come to the head regarding methods within the reopened ZEN Temple Dojo, Cyanide tasking Casual Violence of taking him out of the equation. Kalliope Woodchuck has been mercilessly targeted by Trevor Feather, mocking her broken heart following the 'brainwashing' of Bucky Snark. What his end goal is, who knows. This was a hard fought match, the former Harmony Champions, Casual Violence clearly had the better chemistry and experience, but in head-to-head situations Devilfish and Woodchuck had superior one-on-one skill. After all hell breaks loose it looks as though Woodchuck has the victory sealed following a Woodchuck Cutter to Slim, however before going for a pinfall she is distracted by Trevor Feather who has set a broken hearted social media post from Woodchuck to house music. This provides enough of a distraction to leave Woodchuck vulnerable to massive boot from Rekha, followed by a Sitout Powerbomb for the victory and a clean sweep for Skullduggery!

KalliopeWoodchuck.jpg.5edbe5840a33a2841e0c0c837357e829.jpg -> TrevorFeather.jpg.853d446f95c7106a6b3b0289acb49112.jpgLeroneSlim.jpg.aa70367b8ffba9d8a157536d58ba07e2.jpgRekha.jpg.100f4d39d2bcc2e581d50817fa8c0f5e.jpg w/ GuruVishni.jpg.18d0d52e5ecf95b0cb50ea9adafc8acf.jpg

In-Ring segment - Insult to Injury {44 rating}
Feather continues to mock Woodchuck, dancing around to his Woodchuck remix house music. Like in the opening match there's a humorous juxtaposition between the over the top flamboyance of Feather and the stoic menace of Casual Violence, and sombreness of Guru Vishni in the ring with him. Woodchuck recovers enough to lunge at Feather but is stomped down by Casual Violence. Feather cuts the music and drops a CD case onto the beaten down Feather, mockingly adding "It's a mix tape, babes".

8. Halloween Knight, HalloWarped, Pumpkin Jack and Pink Spider, representing F.E.A.R d. Karrg The Insidious, The Malothian, Bucky Snark and Toady, representing Alien Armada, in 18:12 {49 rating}
The crowd are sent home happy, and with a morsel of hope, as the tecnico crew of F.E.A.R manage to work together and show that the Alien Armada's dominance is penetrable. Snark and Toady are used as buffers throughout most of the match, under the direction of The Malothian, under the instruction of Karrg. At times the brainwashed pair seem unable to feel pain from the attacks of F.E.A.R, only to then collapse under the cumulative onslaught of assault. Karrg tags in during moments of dominance, and quickly escapes once the fan favourites look to take control of things, making the most of the lucha tag rules in place within ZEN. Eventually The Malothian has to get involved in the match - given the power of his Malothian Claw, the tecnicos are hesitant to get involved with him, until Pink Spider shows caution to the wind to the delight of the crowd and launches a flurry of offence onto the Armada's most dangerous soldier. Eventually it is clear that F.E.A.R have the momentum on their side, Karrg grabs his title, beckons The Malothian, who then gestures for the zombified Bucky Snark to follow. Toady however is left with F.E.A.R in the ring, where in quick succession her experiences the Warped Speed knee-strike from HalloWarped, a Pumpkinhandle Suplex from Jack, a Piledriver from Halloween Knight, and then finally a Spider Smash (Styles Clash) from Pink Spider for the 3-count.

---ZEN: ART OF WINNING---

---2022 TOURNAMENT---

ZEN--ALTlogo.JPG.7df773b279a501ddd6fd564

The Art Of Winning tournament was announced by Halloween Knight at Way Of The Dreamer following a visit to a fortune teller, who told Halloween Knight the one the 'change to tide' in the war with the invading Alien Armada would emerge victorious from a tournament. In discussion with the Lords of the ZEN temple, Halloween Knight has admitted that he has no idea if the prophecy is accurate, but it is worth a go anyway!

The tournament is open to 16-humans, and Karrg has made sure that both Toady and Bucky Snark are involved - potentially showing worry of the prophecy.

The brackets feature ZEN favourites, dastardly rudos, and debuts from some of the regions best young wrestlers.

EVENT PREVIEW: Way Of The Toad, 2022

DATE: Saturday 22nd January, 2022

LOCATION: Auckland, New Zealand

The first show of the year saw F.E.A.R gain a huge victory over the Alien Armada, swinging momentum back towards ZEN and planet earth. The Armada still however hold all the gold and are looking to not let this defeat derail them, and quickly return to dominance. There are three matches featuring members of the Alien Armada planned for Way Of The Toad, including an 8-being tag featuring all champions of ZEN. "Alien-Squared" Hez Jendell has refused to heed the warning of Karrg, and challenged 'his best' to match at this event. This was agreed by the Lords of the ZEN temple, although Jendell has struggled to find strong allies to rally alongside within ZEN. Eventually partners were agreed, as young ZEN wrestlers, including the debuting Dizzy G, look to make a statement by stepping up to the Alien Armada. Let's hope it's not the worst decision these rookie wrestlers have made!

After being the one tecnico without fear to step up to him at Way Of The Dreamer, Pink Spider will face off against the mysterious and terrifying Malothian in singles action. The Malothian's interference is part of why Spider dropped his Master Title to Karrg The Insidious, this match provides an opportunity for revenge.

Stepping away from the fight for the future of our planet, Skullduggery had an exceptional night at Way Of The Dreamer, with all five wrestlers emerging victorious. All five members will be in action again at Way Of The Toad, with all four of Cyanide's apprentices stepping up for an 8-person battle. They will face off against Devilfish, a furious Kalliope Woodchuck, and Ferdy & The Flea. The opposition desperate to right the wrongs from earlier in the month!

The big news going into this event was the announcement of the ZEN: Art Of Winning tournament. The brackets for the tournament were posted on the ZEN website.

TOURNAMENT2022.thumb.png.011717d620ed86fc03d745fb3fef5a79.png

Four first round matches are scheduled to happen at Way Of The Toad.

After being left at the hands of F.E.A.R earlier this month, Toady is looking to prove his worth to his Armada overlords (we assume, honestly who knows what he thinks, or if he thinks) by stepping up to his former tag team partner HallloWarped. HalloWarped is conflicted about facing down his old partner, knowing this betrayal was not of his own volition. Will this be enough to get into his head?

ZERO and Killer B both started the year with victories at Way Of The Dreamer. Killer B is on the rise, and ZERO is looking for a way of cementing himself back at the top of the ZEN pyramid. This tournament would be a massive opportunity for either men to stamp their place in the upper echelons of ZEN. It feels must-win for both! But we know that can't be the case!

Cyanide will also look to 'rough up' the exciting independent star Dee Lucketti, as he makes his ZEN debut. This tournament has provided allure to competitors across New Zealand and Australia, but does Dee know what he's got himself into?

This show will feature 8 huge matches, including

1. Killer B w/ Molly Cuddle d. ZERO, in 16:38 {53 rating}
The show opens with a match of high quality. Killer B picks up arguably his biggest solo win to date over the former 3-time Master Champion. Both competitors have periods of dominance, ZERO wears down and stretches Killer B with ruthless precision, and B launches fired-up comebacks, before leaving himself open to ZERO's technical takedowns. Towards the end of the match ZERO keeps going back to attempting to lock in his Holding out for a Zero submission, however he cannot seem to lock it in on B. ZERO's insistence on returning to this move seems based out of frustration and not strategy, and that could be what is his ultimate downfall. Killer B finishes him in the middle of the ring with the B-Sting knee strike to the delight of the crowd, and Molly Cuddle. The tournament is underway!

KillerB.jpg.7f47d44370f0b82d79e09beb4c636ed5.jpgMollyCuddle.jpg.3f6d8b84ca2937f04bab66d9489ff614.jpgZERO.jpg.91e5d4f34353b9d7f1c33cc9a0fc0466.jpg -> HalloweenKnight.jpg.4429b5c8596d6f978bbf90f015ecc309.jpg

In-Ring segment - Zero honour - ZERO gets more than revenge {47 rating}
Killer B and Molly Cuddle celebrate in the ring, B drops out of the ring and begins to celebrate with the ZEN faithful in the crowd. Molly stays in the ring providing light applause. ZERO emerges back to his feet in the ring, whilst his mask is expressionless his gait betrays his feelings of anger and frustration. He grabs an unsuspected Molly Cuddle and spins her into a CLOTHESLINE! The boos are instantaneous, outside the ring Killer B reacts, but is not quick enough to save Cuddle from being tied up into one of ZERO's patented submission moves. Whilst ZEN is an integrated roster, Molly Cuddle is not a trained professional, she is not a wrestler, and the crowd know it. This is horrific from ZERO! Killer B begins to stamp on ZERO but he refuses to break the hold, Cuddle is screaming in agony. Killer B lines up for the B-Sting, which causes ZERO to relinquish his grip, and rolls out of the ring to safety. Halloween Knight and other members of the ZEN staff - including Paul Massey, New Zealand Pit Bull, and the commentary team of Sparky Sparks and Dustin Thane leave their responsibilities to check on Cuddle with Killer B as well. Knight berates an expressionless ZERO, he tells him the Lords of the ZEN Temple will likely suspend him for this, or even banish him! ZERO simply walks off.

2. Auckland Raider d. C-W-A, in 8:33 {41 rating}
C-W-A provides some clown related shenanigans to lighten the mood following the previous segment - getting the crowd into the shtick, tricking and mocking young children in the crowd. An unimpressed Raider calls him a "dweeb" and a "nerd" - and begins his domination, with the crowd not being able to resist cheering for his power moves and intensity. The finish comes as Raider winds himself up with the Auckland crowd chanting "HUT! HUT! HUT!", he hits C-W-A with a massive Football Tackle that knocks the clowns wig and nose clean off!! The 3-count is elementary at this point. Auckland Raider progresses to the quarter-finals.

3. Karrg The Insidious, MAN O'WAR, Laguna The Loyal and Deathwatch Beetle, representing Alien Armada d. Hez Jendell, Celestina Cherish, Urban Fox and Dizzy G, in 10:19 {44 rating}
Realistically there was only going to be one team victorious here. Karrg has arguably rallied his 'A-Team' of the Alien Armada, all of the champions of ZEN onto one side, and Hez's team being a ramshackle selection of the ZEN undercard, and a debutant. That being said Urban Fox shows some flurries of strong offence, with commentators hyping this strong showing as a positive sign as he faces Bucky Stark in the Art Of Winning tournament. During the match Karrg monologues to Jendell, saying he isn't a complete monster and is more than willing to let her outlive her kind, before adding "You know, I've quite forgotten what species they were", this causes Hez to launch a big flurry of offence, but she merely rocks Karrg, however a double dropkick with Cherish causes the Master Champion to fall, and the two women briefly celebrate to cheers from the crowd, and Jendell is caught by surprise with a high-five from Cherish. Celebrations are short lived, and in the end it is the debuting Dizzy G who eats the pin for his team, as Karrg flattens him with a Mafia Kick, and then his patented Conquest Bomb for the victory. Welcome to ZEN, Dizzy G, it's not all fun and games!

AlienArmada.jpg.0903061975fc552a3e3d95a86abf7d9c.jpgKarrg.jpg.5097ae0407bb65ee6e0872efd75b50f1.jpgManOWar.jpg.4b94e2eac4696e657fc5115524323a2e.jpgLagunaTheLoyal.jpg.d6373b52caee86d2c475855cac774ea5.jpgDeathwatchBeetle.jpg.7d06e03e863d79afa98a1ac514d86116.jpg -> HalloweenKnight.jpg.4429b5c8596d6f978bbf90f015ecc309.jpg

In-Ring segment - Title Matches all round {44 rating}
The champions stand tall in the ring, Karrg tells the crowd to bow to the Armada, respect their champions and they "may be spared". This is met with huge boos. Halloween Knight comes to the ring to cheers from the crowd. Knight mentions he has been to the ether-realm to meet with the Lords of the ZEN Temple, firstly ZERO will be banned from ZEN for the month of February. Karrg jumps in and questions why Knight dares interrupt him to talk about the squabbles of earthlings. Knight replies that the Lords also stated that due to their victory at Way Of The Dreamer, F.E.A.R will challenge the Alien Armada for all of the title belts. Pink Spider will get a rematch against Karrg for the Master Title, HalloWarped will challenge for the Conceptual Title (as he is aiming to make a name for himself in singles competition/entering the Art Of Winning Tournament), leaving Halloween Knight and Pumpkin Jack to challenge for the Harmony titles.

4. Cyanide, representing Skullduggery d. Dee Lecketti, in 7:19 {36 rating}
Cyanide roughs up the rookie in what is arguably an extended squash match. Lecketti has a wild look, and has built up a small buzz in the Queensland area of his native Australia for his daredevil antics. Cyanide puts him away with his Skull Splitter (Brainbuster). Following the match Cyanide helps Lecketti to his feet, he caresses his face and ruffles his hair, as Lecketti looks on fearfully. Cyanide tells him he sees the "bones of a warrior", and if he works under Cyanide he may reach his potential. Lecketti agrees, and Cyanide christens him the newest Skullduggery apprentice. The first lesson is that we "bow to warriors". Lucketti bows to Cyanide, and Cyanide reciprocates "for the warrior you will become". {27 rating}

In-Ring segment - The boys in blue crash intermission shenanigans {27 rating}
Towards the end of intermission a man in an all black mask appears among the crowds with their well built 'bodyguard'. The bodyguard announces the masked man as a "Star of ZEN" and tells the crowd to "line-up and have your credit cards ready for photos and signing". When nobody rightfully takes notice of this he begins to get threatening until **SIRENS** blare. Out comes ZEN's enforcer of law, order and justice, Crime Buster, and his rookie partner, Blue Chip. Crime Buster says this is a fraud, and not a member of the ZEN (although ironically the masked man was played by Temple Dojo graduate and 7-year roster member, Azazel, in an uncredited role). This leads to a brawl around ringside and then into the ring, where the bell rings and a match gets underway!?

CrimeBuster.jpg.95f6dfef8e4eb0376ad15c83f9890beb.jpgElAvatar.jpg.900159b7ff84c8c1034b370224a48362.jpg d. CVFP_MaskedMale166.jpg.08536247b0ff68b5eb66d5e859f10691.jpgNathanRigger.jpg.353842241b9e4ac711eb5bf89da130cb.jpg

5. The Beat, of Crime Buster and Blue Chip d. The Fraudulent ZEN wrestlers, in 7:01 {36 rating}
The team opposite The Beat are not named, although the bodyguard is recognisable as New Zealand independent worker, Nathan Rigger, and whilst never known to the crowd, the masked worker is Azazel. Really just a vehicle for Crime Buster and Blue Chip's new tag team, and not the start of any larger storyline - Buster finishes the bodyguard with his patented Spinebuster, and sends the frauds running from the arena without making their quick buck at the expense of the ZEN fans. Ironically does this mean they are now ZEN wrestlers? Therefore the intervention of The Beat made these men the things they were claiming they were but weren't, which was the reason for the intervention in the first place? Best not think about this too hard!

6. Pink Spider, representing F.E.A.R d. The Malothian, representing Alien Armada, in 8:41 {50 rating}
Clearly buoyed by the announcement of his forthcoming Master Title rematch, Pink Spider is fired up and much like Way Of The Dreamer has decided that offence is the best defence against The Malothian. This is not a bad idea, as the slow, skulking style of Malothian allows Spider to often quite literally run rings around him. Has Spider found the way of combatting Malothian's immense power, with speed and guile? However, as Pink Spider starts to ramp up his offence, it requires greater close combat, which brings him into Malothian's grasp, allowing the monster to gain some elements of control. However, it is Pink Spider that comes out on top as he locks in his Web Of Destruction, Octopus Stretch variant. With the hold in place he begins to manipulate the hand of The Malothian, removing his glove and aiming to inspect the source of his mind control power. Noticing this, Malothian submits and then quickly escapes the ring, *and I apologise to @Pteroid for having an identical finish to them, but swear that this was already done/thought of before reading their excellent ZEN diary.

In-Ring segment - Say What You See {50 rating}
The Malothian looks quite vulnerable caressing and covering his hand as he backsteps towards the curtain. Karrg The Insidious and his second in command, MAN O'WAR step out and surround their powerful monsters. Pink Spider asks for a microphone and cuts a promo on Karrg, hyping his title match (which will be at the next show). Karrg responds and says "Why don't you tell everyone what you saw?". Pink Spider continues to talk, stumbles a bit over words, but is very much nervously sidestepping the question. Karrg has the final word of "You saw fear, you saw that you will lose. And you better hope that a match is all you lose!" before walking off laughing. As Pink Spider heads to the back, Halloween Knight and HalloWarped head out from the curtain to greet him, he tells HalloWarped to get ready for his match, he tells Halloween Knight "we need to talk".

7. Lerone Slim, Rekha, Trevor Feather and Vortex (w/ Guru Vishni), representing Skullduggery d. Devilfish, Kalliope Woodchuck, Ferdy Lloyd and Blue Flea, 14:11 {47 rating}
Skullduggery's dominance continues, with the group ending 5 victories in 5 matches for the month of January. Is this a sign that Cyanide's brutal training methods are with merit, and should be employed within the Temple Dojo? The dominance was not just in outcome, but in how the group tossed around Ferdy & The Flea. There was a clear strategic gameplan, preventing Devilfish and Woodchuck from getting involved in the match, with Feather and Vortex often pulling them from the apron or distracting them when the opportunity came for them to enter the ring under lucha-tag rules. Woodchuck managed to get her hands on Feather at points, and he comedically lets out a big squeal when hit with an enziguri kick. Devilfish looks like he might actually have a victory secured for his team as he lands a picture perfect Frog Splash on Rekha, however Guru Vishni distracts the referee by highlighting he thinks that Blue Flea is injured. However, it is the injured Blue Flea who is then thrust back into the ring where a top rope double foot stomp from Vortex secures the victory. After the match the tecnicos show huge concern for Blue Flea, he is injured! Ferdy Lloyd is distraught! Flea is helped to the back and as supporting him back Devilfish says to the camera that this is what the methods of Skullduggery gets - destruction of careers! {35 rating}

FEAR.jpg.69a29f5299556fc892eeddf68cc434dd.jpgHalloWarped.jpg.0fbf80d65d917785383efbd2f139d8f6.jpg d. AlienArmada.jpg.0903061975fc552a3e3d95a86abf7d9c.jpgToady.jpg.2f0d10a42c384a9feb10fb4c45aae7aa.jpg

8. HalloWarped, representing F.E.A.R d. Toady, representing Alien Armada, in 19:54 {46 rating}
This match arguably ran a little bit longer than should have done, but it did have a number of interesting storyline threads running throughout. The first ten minutes of the match saw an ongoing stalemate as the two former partners, and 3-time Harmony Champions, were well abreast of each others offence and skills. Eventually HalloWarped became the competitor on top of things, but at times Toady seemed unfeeling of the offence, only to collapse in fatigue after being a victim of a flurry of attacks. This then weaved in another storyline aspect, as HalloWarped is trying to solidify himself as a true singles competitor, he is finding himself lacking 'killer offence'. He gets incredibly frustrated after hitting Toady with his rolling fireman's carry, which was part of their tag team finisher, yet only secures a 2-count. He also only secures a 2-count following his Warp Speed knee strike. At this point you can see HalloWarped turning from frustration to questioning himself - losing his self-belief. This gives Toady an opening to get back into the match. He has HalloWarped down for his middle rope Frog Splash variant, however HalloWarped is back to his feet and with a mighty leap connects with the Warp Speed knee strike. This time it is enough to secure the 3-count, to the delight of the crowd.

HalloWarped.jpg.0fbf80d65d917785383efbd2f139d8f6.jpgToady.jpg.2f0d10a42c384a9feb10fb4c45aae7aa.jpg -> DeathwatchBeetle.jpg.7d06e03e863d79afa98a1ac514d86116.jpg
In-Ring segment - A Beet-down {36 rating}
After the match HalloWarped stares down at Toady as he recovers. Toady screams that he hates HalloWarped and the Armada will destroy his world. HalloWarped lines up to attack Toady, but Toady's body drops lifeless and fatigued, which causes HalloWarped to pause and take pity on his former friend - does he know what he's doing? He doesn't mean it. He is under control! HalloWarped's pity is a window for Deathwatch Beetle to jump him from behind. Beetle ends up KO'ing HalloWarped following a brutal punch combination, leaving the F.E.A.R member downed in the ring as the show ends.

Keep Rigger around and throw a mask on him - he'll never be a star but he's a lot more competent than a lot of people - although he is also a miserable debbie downer.  Given that match featured 3 guys who the crowd didn't really know that 36 shows some promise.

image.jpeg.bf5ffd7e50b004b3108456480e0a6d71.jpeg

jaythewizard1 did this over in the mod AI generated thread and the Inquisition tweaked it from the .png file for me.  As soon as I saw it I thought of ZEN as it looks so right for the Alien Armada - it could be Laguna's brother lol.

The show was fun ... then again all ZEN shows are fun.

That render is immense. Might need to figure out how to use it.

I have unfortunately done 23/24 shows of the year (I have stopped progressing forward to do writing) so it won't be a quick appearance if I do. I hadn't really originally planned on doing this, I just signed up to get patches, read a few of the diaries people had and thought it seemed like fun, and to give it a go. Rigger does make another appearance at "Way of the Athlete" - where he gets a name. I do like a big roster, so I might be tempted to have another look at him.

I love ZEN. In the real world I very much established I prefer the idea of wrestling to actually liking wrestling, and the one thing I really liked was CHIKARA. and basically that's what ZEN is.

And thanks for reading. :)

What was happening January 2022.

5 NOTES FROM AROUND THE WORLD

  1. Kazuma Narato dethroned Masa Kurata to become the World Level Universal Champion in WLW. The company seems to be running a storyline based around 'one last run' with the much loved veteran.
  2. Mitchell Aldred joins the elite group of James Hernandez, Findlay O'Farraday and Greg Gauge to win back-to-back Rip Chord Invitationals. During his victory speech he released a challenge to the COTT World Heavyweight Champion, Frankie Perez.
  3. SWF's 50th Birthday Spectacular was held to a sellout crowd. Feelings online have been generally underwhelming due to the lack of big name surprises, returns, debuts or title changes at the event, that the social media ecosystem had whipped themselves into expecting. Rocky Golden retained in the main event against Randy Unleashed and Valiant, with online frustration that Randy did not get elevated to champion, particularly with Valiant there to eat the pin. Similarly, Des Davids' DQ victory over Remo, whilst not the end of their story, left a bad taste in the IWC's mouths, given the high profile nature of the event.
  4. Contrasting this to USPW's Stars, Stripes And Slams! event, where despite the paint by numbers main event where Nick Champion retained his world title against Steve Frehley, they was huge reactions for other matches on the card, such as Alina America retaining her Women's title against Charity Sweet and Glorious Gloria, and Pariah and Sara Marie York besting Jaime Quine and Juliette King in an outstanding tag team encounter. The online space was most abuzz due to Casey Valentine's confident victory over Enygma, as sign of cementing the former National Champion at the top of the card, which was voted our Match Of The Month by guests and members of totalextremewrestling.com. The victory, which saw him tear Enygma's mask, which led to an otherwise 'clean' victory. Enygma will be taking some time off, but the expectation is that this could lead to a return and a storyline involving the mask.
  5. EILL and CZCW announced that the elite lucha libre organisation will be partnering with the Californian super-indie in order to work as a development territory for young workers. No names have been announced yet, however this could be a way for CZCW to boost their roster and aid in financing a return of their weekly Coast to Coast events - which will begin airing on WrestleWorld in April. Given this will likely involve cash injection from EILL to the independent outfit, it also remains to be seen what this will mean for the tentative alliance between CZCW and CILL, which led to talent sharing of the likes of The Wild Cats, whether that will still continue.

5 NOTES FROM OCEANIA

  1. After 14 years, Paul Massey is stepping away from his road agent and backstage responsibilities with ZEN and scaling up to the big leagues with Revolution Australian Wrestling. He is expected to begin working as part of the team constructing the Friday 11th February episode of Attitude! Massey will be a huge miss from the cult favourite ZEN, whilst not an on-screen figure he was a significant backstage presence, both in sculpting the in-ring action and creative vision of the company, but also as part of the inner circle backstage. Whilst the contribution of ZEN in its own right to the wrestling industry is almost impossible to ignore in 2022, it a number of its internal stars are still within their own insular realm, Massey had experience and knowledge beyond the small New Zealand company. Rumours are swirling that this pick-up could be aiming to get the most out of Damien Dastardly, one of the few ZEN alumni on the RAW roster, a man they had huge hope for, but whose momentum seems to have stagnated recently. There seems no hard feelings from the camps involved, and Massey has been working with fellow ex-wrestler New Zealand Pit Bull throughout the month, who will take on a number of his duties in ZEN moving forward.
  2. Sticking with ZEN, the New Zealand company has announced two business relationships. First is with EXODUS 2010 out of Japan. Former ZEN triple crown winner, X-Calibre is a current roster member for EX2010. Delighted with X-Calibre's six and a half years on the roster, could EX2010 be looking for a feeder areas for future "colourful characters", with the main dojos in Japan currently favouring a more "serious if a bit characterless" graduate, even within the Jr. Heavyweight ranks? The second is with EMLL in Mexico. The weirdos on social media have already went crazy about the "lore", "canon" and "crossover" potential, such as Samael The Accuser vs. Halloween Knight for the right to be the "one true skeletal bastard". Ultimately however, we don't 100% know what either of these relationships are, and given the ZEN website still feels like GeoCities and EMLL only update in kayfabe, I guess we are going to have to wait and see.
  3. Swoop McCarthy continues to rule to roost in RAW, making numerous defences of his Television Title throughout the month. Much like Golden Gaytime's, McCarthy has cemented himself as huge part of Australian culture, that hasn't yet translated to, and seems quite silly to the rest of the Western world.
  4. The smaller promotions of APW and DIW have "declared war" on each other. Tensions between the companies have risen with both throwing jibes in their January events.
  5. Lastly, back to ZEN, and the injury angle at Way Of The Toad is the last expected appearance of Blue Flea within the company. Flea has tackled personal demons previously, which had led to a year long suspension from ZEN. There appears to have been a relapse. Given the level of respect the company has for Flea they allowed him to fulfil the January dates and have an in-ring send-off, but given previous issues informed him they would not be using him moving forward. His tag team partner Ferdy Lloyd is expected to stay with the company.

EVENT PREVIEW: Way Of the Scholar, 2022

DATE: Saturday 5th February, 2022

LOCATION: Wellington, New Zealand

F.E.A.R continued their 2022 winning ways over the Alien Armada at Way Of The Toad as both HalloWarped and Pink Spider emerged victorious against Toady and The Malothian, respectively. However, HalloWarped would end the night flat on his back at the hands of Deathwatch Beetle, with Halloween Knight and Pink Spider having left to find privacy to discuss what we can only assume were the horrors witnesses as Pink Spider tried to investigate The Malothian's claw, and Pumpkin Jack not being present in Auckland. Fatigued from his match HalloWarped was recuperated by "Alien Squared" Hez Jendell. Grateful for the help, HalloWarped has agreed to team alongside Jendell, as well as Celestina Cherish, who showed budding chemistry with the alien refugee in order to face a team from the Alien Armada. Is this the "in" that Hez Jendell has been looking for with ZEN and F.E.A.R?

Way Of The Scholar will be headlined by two massive title matches. Pink Spider will get his rematch against Karrg The Insidious for the ZEN Master Title. Were the words of Karrg at Way Of The Toad mind games, or should Pink Spider be worried? What did Pink Spider then say to Halloween Knight about what he saw in The Malothian? Will we find out? Will we have a new champion at Way Of The Scholar?

Not the usual tag component of F.E.A.R, but the Lords of the ZEN Temple decided that rivals-come-allies Pumpkin Jack and Halloween Knight would face-off against the Alien Fleet component of the Armada. Turncoat MAN O'WAR and his partner Laguna The Loyal are aiming to make the third defence of the Harmony Title, and show that Alien Armada are the dominant force in ZEN, by defeating two of the companies most decorated wrestlers.

The event will also feature the remaining first round matches from the ZEN: Art Of Winning tournament. 1. HalloWarped, "Alien-Squared" Hez Jendell and Celestina Cherish d. Deathwatch Beetle, The Malothian and Toady, representing Alien Armada, in 11:18 {42 rating}
The show opens with HalloWarped leading an unlikely grouping of Hez Jendell and Celestina Cherish in action against three members of the dastardly Alien Armada. The Malothian has limited direct involvement, instead gesturing and controlling Toady who acts as fodder for the rudo team. Deathwatch Beetle’s strike based offence makes short work of Jendell and Cherish, despite the pair again showing great teamwork, now accompanied by enthusiastic high fives from Hez as well as Celestina. HalloWarped is less enthusiastic but it is him who uses his experience to put an end to the Conceptual Champion’s momentum. Like is always the case, the match eventually breaks down, and The Malothian gets involved. The Malothian, Deathwatch Beetle, Hez Jendell and Celestina Cherish are in the ring, while Today and HalloWarped brawl outside. Restraining Jendell, Beetle snaps “This is a message from Karrg” as The Malothian removes his glove eying up the unprotected Malothian Claw on Celestina Cherish!! Hez screams and begs, before managing to break free from Beetle’s grasp. Just before the claw is applied Hez sprays **BLUE MIST** at the arm and hand of The Malothian. The Malothian collapses silently, clutching his arm, and begins to gently convulse! Outside the ring Toady collapses as well! Now all alone Deathwatch Beetle gets blows in on Cherish and Jendell, but ultimately falls victim to the Warp Speed knee, and the tecnicos take the victory! Following the match Karrg, MAN O’WAR and Laguna The Loyal come out, they drag The Malothian from the ring and help him to the back, Beetle literally drags Toady along the floor to the backstage area. There's fear and vulnerability to the Alien Armada. The crowd senses it. HalloWarped and Cherish stare at Jendell, who looks nervous, she quickly scurries off and away. Celestina chases after her.

2. Ferdy Lloyd d. Vortex (w/Guru Vishni), representing Skullduggery, in 10:53 {38 rating}
Ferdy Lloyd manages to get a surprising victory over Vortex of Skullduggery, affording the stable their first loss of 2022. Far from the best match of the night, the two competitors focus on high spots and acrobatics, with little storytelling and psychology in-between. The commentators do a good job of selling Lloyd looking for revenge for the injury of his tag partner Blue Flea who is “indefinitely injured”. Vortex goes for a flying double foot stomp but Floyd dodges, spiking Vortex with a poison-rana. He quickly scales to the top rope and hits his 460 Splash for the 3-count, moving on to face Bucky Snark or Urban Fox in the quarter-finals.

FerdyLloyd.jpg.0fda29fe19676c415070cfcfc1cc07fe.jpg -> Cyanide.jpg.fd5fb7a3cf38abf5b3f132257e4c64e0.jpg

In-Ring segment - A Challenge {33 rating}
After the match Ferdy Lloyd requests a mic. He says since starting in ZEN only one guy had his back, no matter what, Blue Flea. The excessive violence and methods of Skullduggery took his partner out. He wants revenge. Challenges Cyanide! Cyanide steps out and passes a furious and frustrated Vortex heading to the back. Cyanide tells Ferdy to be careful what he hopes for. He is one of Cyanide’s biggest disappointments as a trainee, and he will want nothing more than to wipe him from existence as well. He accepts the challenge.

Backstage segment - F.E.A.R unfurling? {42 rating}
Backstage, F.E.A.R are in court, Halloween Knight's fortune teller is also present, but does not speak throughout the segment. Pink Spider seems distant, with Halloween Knight sitting near him psyching him up. Pumpkin Jack is trying to talk to Halloween Knight about strategy for their tag match, but is basically getting blown off. HalloWarped tries to talk about the situation with Hez Jendell from earlier but it's barely noticed by the rest of the room. Everyone is talking at cross purposes until Pink Spider simply gets up and walks off. Halloween Knight goes to follow until Pumpkin Jack snaps at him. Knight comes back and beckons Pumpkin Jack and HalloWarped close. He says that Pink Spider told him that he saw his own death in Malothian’s hand. Not by his hand, but in it. There was a viking longboat funeral. It senses and ate at his fear. “He needs us in his corner tonight”. Halloween Knight steps away to look for Pink Spider as Pumpkin Jack and HalloWarped hang heavy with the news, the camera pans and in the background curled over in a stairwell is Hez Jendell.

KalliopeWoodchuck.jpg.5edbe5840a33a2841e0c0c837357e829.jpg d. BoosterBoy.jpg.bf7d4066d86ecf602c317f52bb6075c4.jpg
3. Kalliope Woodchuck d. Booster Boy, in 8:44 {45 rating}
Booster Boy refuses to strike Woodchuck as he is “much stronger then her” and instead offers to take her to dinner, Woodchuck laughs him off with a massive right hand to the face, unloading to the delight of the crowd. Whilst not at the popularity level and position of Woodchuck, Booster Boy proves that he is technically no slouch in the ring as the pair produce a well constructed bout that has the crowd in the palm of their hand. Ultimately however, Kalliope Woodchuck gets the decisive win following the Woodchuck Cutter, earning a spot against Killer B in the quarter-finals.

In-Ring segment - Stan's want what's best {49 rating}
After the match Trevor Feather comes out and mockingly congratulates Kalliope Woodchuck. Woodchuck asks Feather what his problem is with her? Feather says he has no problem with her, he loves her, he “stans” her. He's the voyuer, desperate to know what happens next. He's happy she wasn't charmed by Booster Boy, he's no Bucky Stark (cue a Booster Boy “Hey, at least I don't have a stupid name!” as he stumbles to the back), and if all goes according to plan it will be Kalliope vs. Bucky in the final of The Art of Winning tournament! Imagine that! Oh my gosh! Feather asks Kalli how she would feel, what would she do, does she think if she beats him then he’ll remember and sweep her off her feet. Kalli goes to answer, and Feather interjects “It doesn't matter…” as Bucky Stark is not making the final, as he won't make it through Trevor Feather. He wants to see Kalliope suffer, as he loves her, he's her biggest “stan”. Woodchuck shakes her head and leaves, Guru Vishnu comes to the ring to accompany Trevor for his upcoming match.

4. Trevor Feather (w/Guru Vishni), representing Skullduggery d. Dizzy G, in 8:46 {42 rating}
Dizzy G makes his first single appearance in ZEN and makes a statement with some high risk, high reward offence. He wows with a moonsault topé, a dragon-rana from the apron, and a springboard dragon-rana variant for a near fall. Feather shows why despite his exterior he is a member of the ruthless Skullduggery, as he effectively flips a switch and goes on the ultra-offensive. As well as high impact moves, he also resorts to some underhand tactics, such as eye pokes and choking Dizzy G with his foot, until the referee intervenes. Feather makes sure that Skullduggery don't suffer their second defeat of the evening, dropping Dizzy G with the Feather Ruffler (cobra clutch slam), earning a match with Auckland Raider in the next round of the ZEN: Art Of Winning tournament.

Backstage segment - On the beat {31 rating}
Backstage Crime Buster and Blue Chip are on patrol. Crime Buster is telling Blue Chip to always be aware and vigilante. The come across a training drill of Skullduggery. Newest recruit Dee Lucketti is getting some rough/intensive training from Cyanide and Vortex, who are beating him with canes, with Cyanide giving praise and critique. Crime Buster and Blue Chip both grab a cane and Buster asks if everything is okay. Cyanide says “yes” but Buster replies that he was talking to the “kid”. A confrontation brews, about discipline - which ends with a challenge for a tag match later tonight! Cyanide and his newest apprentice, Dee Lucketti vs. The Beat.

Backstage segment - Into the Armada's lair {38 rating}
As the scene breaks the cameraman is hassled by MAN O’WAR who tells them to follow him. After much walking, including heading outside, they end up at an area where the Alien Armada are. Karrg grabs the camera and says that regardless of what the earthling fans of ZEN think they've seen, the Armada is stronger than ever, they will come out on top tonight and The Malothian is already on the mend. The Armada cannot be destroyed by any earthling, or by the forgotten runt of an exterminated civilisation! Karrg’s words are of strength and power, but this access to their backstage lair, and his frenetic tones suggests a panic in the group. Panic often breeds danger!

5. Buck Snark, representing Alien Armada d. Urban Fox, in 12:45 {42 rating}
The final first round match of the ZEN: Art Of Winning tournament sees Bucky Snark of the Alien Armada face off against the rookie, Urban Fox. Snark seems to be operating under fatigue in the early stages of the match - is this due to the mist sprayed onto The Malothian earlier in the evening? This gives Urban Fox lot more early offence than the crowd may have expected, however Bucky Snark begins to grow into the match - whether it is muscle memory or another factor, who knows. Snark’s strength and quality shine through, and the Alien Armada still have one entrant making it through to the quarter-finals, as Snark finishes Urban Fox with the Snark Attack (GTS) for the 3-count.

6. The Beat, of Crime Buster and Blue Chip d. Cyanide and Dee Lucketti (w/Guru Vishni), representing Skullduggery, in 9:54 {42 rating}
In a match stemming from the backstage encounter earlier in the night, this match is used as a way of emphasising differences in mentorship between Crime Buster towards his rookie policing pal, and Cyanide towards Skullduggery’s newest apprentice. Cyanide is critical and scathing, pointing out issues and weaknesses in approach in a loud manner, even when Dee Lecketti is in control. Alternatively Crime Buster is positive and helps rally the crowd behind Blue Chip. It's a competitive back and forth match, and after a Cyanide clothesline sends both him and Crime Buster collapsing to the outside of the ring, Lucketti and Blue Chip enter the ending sequence. Blue Chip hits a cool looking swinging neck breaker clutch into a sitout, which Dane on commentary calls the Blue Light Blast. Blue Chip scales the top rope and hits a Moonsault to Dee Lucketti, securing the victory for his team, The Beat are now 3 for 3 since their debut!

Backstage segment - Cherish the moment {34 rating}
In another backstage segment, a camera is following Celestina Cherish as she wanders the corridor. She stops at a white wall, which has the residue of black spray on it. "She must be close!". After turning a few more corners Cherish eventually finds Hez Jendell tucked under a staircase, clearly emotional still from what happened in the opening match. Cherish sits down and hugs Jendell who looks shocked at the response. Jendell says she's never done that before, she was so scared for Celestina, she had shown her nothing but kindness, and it just happened, she needed to save her. It is a gift of many, but not all of the Falandùq, inhabitants of their home have/had, Hez did not know they had the gift. It's called “Fire Speaking”, they would train and learn to control it, but now there are none left, so she doesn’t know what to do!

Hez Jendell tells Celestina she ran off overwhelmed, and was worried that her one friend would think this made her a “freak”. Celestina looks at Jendell and says sarcastically “Girl! You're blue! You're a freak! I'm a freak! We a planet of freaks!".

A confused Hez Jendell responds with “I am not a girl”.
“Fine. Woman”
“I am not a woman”
“...”
“Nevermind, there is not enough time to explain the complex biological nature of the Falandùq. Are you okay? Pink Spider said he saw his death when he looked into Malothian's claw, was it bad?”
Celestina Cherish composes herself, “if you really want to know. But it is terrifying!”, she then regales a tale of how she saw the return of 2000’s fashion, baggy jeans with too many chains, visible underwear, men wearing shirts with dragons on them and ear gauges that are far too large. Hez Jendell looks perplexed but sensing Celestina’s sadness gives her a hug.

After some silence Celestina quizzes, "Does the black fire speaking feel different to the blue?".
"Black and gold are the most powerful fire speak, blue is the weakest. I wouldn't dream of being able to spit black fire, it could take decades of training. I really don't know."
"Wait. It wasn't you?"
"What wasn't?"
"You need to come with me!".
The two women then leave with Celestina Cherish leading the way.

7. MAN O'WAR and Laguna The Loyal (C), representing Alien Armada d. Halloween Knight and Pumpkin Jack, representing F.E.A.R, in 16:48, to make the 3rd defence of the titles {54 rating}
The first of our two title matches get underway, as MAN O’WAR and Laguna The Loyal look to make the 3rd defence of the Harmony Titles against ZEN stalwarts Halloween Knight and Pumpkin Jack, arguably their biggest defence to date. Jack and Knight are not regular tag team partners and at times it shows, as they are not always on the same page to make the most of the lucha tag rules ZEN employs, or for making the most of double team opportunities. They also seem to pursue different in-ring strategies, Knight favouring a more technical style, aiming to wear down the opposition methodically, Pumpkin Jack unloading with high impact offense, using the larger opposition as good bases for his lucha antics. However, this lack of cohesion in offence is allowing the champions to continuously take control, working more like a well oiled machine, getting many a near fall over the course of the match. Eventually the miscommunications between Jack and Knight grow bigger, MAN O’WAR artfully dodges a suicide topé from Pumpkin Jack that leads to him wiping out Halloween Knight. Jack manages to hit a Pumpkinhandle Suplex on MAN O’WAR, but Knight is still down, meaning he is unable to prevent Laguna The Loyal from breaking the pin. Things get back on track but Knight and Jack bicker until they get into a brief shoving match. This is the opening for the champs, Laguna shoves Knight into Jack, knocking him from the ring, which leaves Halloween Knight open to the Anchor Drop (Spike Tombstone Piledriver), 1,2,3! The Alien Fleet retain!

HalloweenKnight.jpg.4429b5c8596d6f978bbf90f015ecc309.jpgPumpkinJack.jpg.153a531dc4d9ce78a5d843789d10a805.jpg -> HalloWarped.jpg.0fbf80d65d917785383efbd2f139d8f6.jpg

In-Ring segment - F.E.A.R implodes! {43 rating}
After the match Knight and Jack square up! It looks as though blows are inevitable when HalloWarped charges to the ring to separate the pair. HalloWarped says they need to go somewhere private to “work this out”, and they head off to the back, tensions obviously still high.

8. Karrg The Insidious (C), representing Alien Armada d. Pink Spider, representing F.E.A.R, in 21:13, to make the first defence of the Master Title {55 rating}
Karrg The Insidious looks to make a successful defence against the man he defeated for the title, Pink Spider. Despite the genuine fear earlier in the night from the Alien Armada due to the affects of the mist on The Malothian, things are looking much more positive after victories for Bucky Stark and the tag champions. Pink Spider is out first, he slaps the hands of some of the crowd but spends most of the time psyching himself up. Next out is Karrg, who is joined by an entourage of Deathwatch Beetle, Toady, Bucky Snark and The Malothian. The Malothian seems recovered from what happened at the beginning of the evening, but he is gloved and cloaked so any damage to his arm and hand is nit visible. Spider looks very much alone in contrast to Karrg, as F.E.A.R are not here to back him up, having went off to “work out” the issues between Pumpkin Jack and Halloween Knight. This is a key component of the match, Bucky, Toady and Deathwatch Beetle sniping at Pink Spider, distracting the referee and stopping him from building momentum, coming to Karrg’s aid as Pink Spider wears him down with submission. Karrg is manical in his laughing and mocking of Spider and unleashes a number of high power moves, a pop-up Samoan drop, an Alabama slam, a full nelson slam and a swinging uranage all claim near falls, but Spider constantly holds on. It looks like Mafia Kick might have it but Spider manages to grab the bottom rope at 2! A frustrated Karrg screams about how “I have seen what you saw!” and grabs at the spider leg component of Pink Spider’s mask, tearing THREE of these off! This just fires up Pink Spider, giving him a last wind, a trip from Deathwatch Beetle stops him in his tracks. Karrg goes for his Conquest Bomb finisher, but Spider reverses into a triangle hole. The crowd go crazy as it's right in the centre of the ring, the Armada can't reach. However, fatigue and trying to overcome the odds means Spider can't get it fully locked in, Karrg manages to use his strength and gets Pink Spider back into the powerbomb position. Conquest Bomb! And that's 3!

AlienArmada.jpg.0903061975fc552a3e3d95a86abf7d9c.jpgFEAR.jpg.69a29f5299556fc892eeddf68cc434dd.jpg

In-Ring Segment - Panic breeds danger! {40 rating}
There is still no sign of F.E.A.R as Karrg waves his henchmen into the ring. He leans down to Spider and whispers something not picked up by the crowd or cameras. Karrg and The Malothian nod to each other, Toady and Bucky remove The Malothian’s cloak and he removes his gloves. There are still stains of blue from Hez Jendell’s mist up his arm. MALOTHIAN CLAW! The Malothian grabs at Pink Spider, aiming at the exposed space from the torn off components of his mask! Here comes the cavalry! Hez Jendell, Celestina Cherish, HalloWarped is also here, word must have made it to F.E.A.R, as Halloween Knight and Pumpkin Jack follow. Deathwatch Beetle, Toady and Bucky Snark meet them, MAN O’WAR and Laguna The Loyal appear to even out the numbers. Eventually the Armada retreat and Pink Spider is left on the canvas, the tecnicos comforting him. The Armada stand at the exit, Karrg let's out his trademark belly laugh, he calls humans pathetic and easily distracted by their own irrelevant quarrels. He says F.E.A.R won’t save the world, they can't even save themselves! But Karrg has the power to save! At this point he nods to The Malothian who raises his arms, Pink Spider stands. The tecnicos back off as Halloween Knight tries to talk to Spider. Spider does not acknowledge him, he drops out of the ring and walks towards the Armada. The Malothian beckons him close, as he arrives Karrg hugs Pink Spider, “You are safe now”. The Armada then drop out of the arena! HalloWarped drops to the ground next to the turnbuckle devastated, Jendell and Cherish are unsure how to react, Halloween Knight lets out primal screams until he is shoved by Pumpkin Jack. Jack blames Halloween Knight, and storms out of the ring. The show ends!

EVENT PREVIEW: Way Of The Artist, 2022

DATE: Saturday 26th February, 2022

LOCATION: Christchurch, New Zealand

It is not hyperbole to suggest that the happenings of Way Of The Scholar are some of the most consequential in the history of ZEN. The alien refugee Hez Jendell unknowingly unlocked the power of "Fire Speaking", spraying a blue mist at The Malothian, that seemed to incapacitate him, weakening but not breaking the hold on Toady at ringside. Furthermore, later in the night itseemed to slow Bucky Snark as well. This could have been seen as a cause for celebration, however F.E.A.R imploded throughout the night. Miscommunication, and lack of preparedness (from the view of Pumpkin Jack) led to Halloween Knight and Pumpkin Jack failing to capture the Harmony Titles, before almost coming to blows as tensions between the former rivals boiled over. This internal struggle left Pink Spider isolated for his match with Karrg The Insidious, allowing the Alien Armada to take strategic position at ringside, guaranteeing Karrg's victory, but more importantly setting things for the ultimate part of their plan. The Malothian, almost to prove that his incapacitation was temporary, applied his patented Malothian Claw to Pink Spider, as he had to Toady and Bucky Snark previously. The remaining members of F.E.A.R aimed to make the save, alongside members of the cavalry, but it proved to be too late, as it was revealed that Pink Spider was now under the control of The Malothian, and therefore Karrg himself!

Already announced for Way Of The Artist was a Conceptual Title match, as the Lords of the ZEN Temple deemed HalloWarped, of F.E.A.R (can it still be called F.E.A.R?), the next challenger to Alien Armada's Deathwatch Beetle. HalloWarped scored a pinfall victory over Beetle at Way Of The Scholar, this would suggest momentum is on his side, but after the happenings of later in the night, the tecnico forces seem deflated. Knowing what's best, Pumpkin Jack and Halloween Knight have worked on patching things up, and drafted in support of long-term ZEN tecnico, Devilfish, to step up against a trios team from Alien Armada, including their newest convert, Pink Spider!

The Armada will be in action elsewhere as MAN O'WAR and Laguna The Loyal do not have time to rest, as they are once again set to defend their Harmony Titles. The opponents this time are ZEN's enforcers of law, order and justice, The Beat. Crime Buster and his rookie partner, Blue Chip, are currently 3 for 3 in tag team action this calendar year, including victories over The Ghost Hunters and Skullduggery. The Lords of the ZEN Temple have deemed them deserving of a shot at the tag team championships, in what is easily their toughest task to date.

Speaking of Skullduggery, Cyanide accepted an open challenge from Ferdy Lloyd, who is looking to avenge the injury of his long-term tag team partner, which he blames on the unethical training and standards that Cyanide wants to uphold. Cyanide made it even more personal, saying that Ferdy is his biggest disappointment as a student, and he will use this match to erase him from ZEN.

Skullduggery had started the year dominantly, but this ended at Way Of The Scholar, as both Vortex and newest apprentice Dee Lecketti suffered defeats. As part of the training of Lecketti, Cyanide has put together a Skullduggery-sparring match, in order to strengthen the losers, so that they don't besmirch the good name of Skullduggery again. Vortex and Lecketti will team, and face fellow stablemates, Casual Violence. While it is labelled as a spar, it's hard to imagine anything being held back here!

We have another tag team contest confirmed for Way Of The Artist. Bruce Strange and Mister Hyde, collectively known as The Ghost Hunters will make their first appearance since losing to The Beat, back at Way Of The Dreamer. They will look to get back to winning ways as they face the recently bonded pair of Hez Jendell and Celestina Cherish.

image.png.94bc4e33a22db24725595b882974cc2d.png

We also have the first two quarter-finals of the ZEN: Art Of Winning tournament. Kalliope Woodchuck will face off against Killer B, in a battle of the two fan favourites. This is the first we have seen of Killer B since his manager Molly Cuddle was brutally attacked by ZERO at Way Of The Toad. Killer B has already revealed that Molly will not be at Way Of The Artist due to the injuries she sustained in the attack. Revenge must be a high priority for Killer B, with ZERO still serving his temporary banishment will this help him keep his focus on the tournament? As Kalliope is one of the top prospects in all of ZEN, and shouldn't be taken lightly.

The other quarter-final match-up features the man who has taken to taunting Kalliope Woodchuck, her self confessed "biggest stan", Trevor Feather. Feather beat Dizzy G to secure his place in the quarter-finals, and he will face the powerhouse, Auckland Raider. Raider easily disposed of ZEN legend C-W-A at Way Of The Toad, and whilst Feather's flamboyant and extravagant style may make him look like a pushover, he is a master of mind games, and is very much a member of Skullduggery for a reason. This is a can't miss encounter!

Thank you for everyone who has read, responded and made predictions so far. Updates will likely slow down in the next week or so. I've just been blessed with a bit of free time recently and have already booked a long way ahead.

I notice elsewhere people run prediction contests, where people can choose to push certain people or make changes to stories, this could be something I choose to do later on if people are interested. I've already played through to December 2022, so unfortunately can't even begin to offer something like that at the minute.

Your Main Event
Karrg The Insidious, Pink Spider and Toady, representing Alien Armada vs. Halloween Knight, Pumpkin Jack and Devilfish

One of these things is not like the others - Toady is eating the pin.

Conceptual Title
Deathwatch Beetle (C), representing Alien Armada vs. HalloWarped, representing F.E.A.R

Hmmm I think the Armada is losing that Main Event and that means they probably need to win here - could go either way.

Harmony Titles
MAN O'WAR and Laguna The Loyal (C), representing Alien Armada vs. The Beat, of Crime Buster and Blue Chip

I think you are pushing the Beat and they could get the win but I still think the Armada has legs so I'll go for them retaining in a dodgy finish. Also given the Main Event I am going with an Armada win.

A Quest For Revenge
Cyanide, representing Skullduggery vs. Ferdy Lloyd

Logic suggests Ferdy gets the win after what has been set up

Skullduggery-Sparring Match
Casual Violence, of Lerone Slim and Rekha vs. Dee Lucketti and Vortex

Ughhh ... Slim has potential so I am going for them on that alone

Tag Team Match
The Ghost Hunters, of Bruce Strange and Mister Hyde vs. Celestina Cherish and "Alien-Squared" Hez Jendell

Two of these should be pushed to the Moon ... the other two off a cliff.

ZEN: Art Of Winning - Quarter Final
Kalliope Woodchuck vs. Killer B

I love me some Woodchuck

ZEN: Art Of Winning - Quarter Final
Auckland Raider vs. Trevor Feather

Seems like it should be Raider's time.
