EXPOSITION

This is a brand new diary playing @MrCanada's new mod Here Comes the Money, an alternate history mod focused around the much-dissected WWF buyout of the WCW.

We all know the story: by early 2001, WCW are badly hemorrhaging money, fans, wrestlers, and corporate sponsors, all the while their TV deals for both Nitro and Thunder in peril. Eric Bischoff was working behind the scenes with a number of media financiers to buy out WCW and at least retain the tape library and copyrights. The then-president of Turner Broadcasting made it publicly known that he was mulling over ending WCW's TV deal early. This spooked at least one member of Bischoff's group away, and the rest is history as we know it.

In this mod, however, Shane, wanting to set out on his own and exit his father's very long and cold shadow, legitimately buys out WCW, looking to patch the holes drilled through the hull of the S.S. WCW by years of disastrous mismanagement.

A number of WCW talent have jumped ship to the WWF (detailed in part in the roster post) and others still have decided to wait out the 2-or-so years left on their contract to take an early payout.
Notable inclusions in the latter camp include Sting, Goldberg, and Kevin Nash, long-time main event fixtures for WCW. A number of others still are still looking for employment after ECW also crashed and burned.

STATE OF THE WWF

The WWF have just put on Backlash 2001, with the Two Man Power Trip (HHH and Stone Cold) winning the WWF Tag Titles. As the product builds toward Insurrexion, live from England, tension continues to build between the champions, Triple H's ambitions for the WWF Title becoming increasingly clear each week.

Lita has quickly been heating up as one of the most promising young women on the roster. WWF Women's Champion Chyna has certainly taken notice, with a feud pitting the old guard against the new order taking shape over recent weeks.

Chris Jericho and fellow Canadian Edge have been feuding over who's the better Canadian wrestler, with a triple threat IC Title match between the pair and champion Triple H scheduled for Insurrexion.

Former ECW talent Eddie Guerrero has been blasting the promotion in promos on TV recently, which led to Paul Heyman promising to bring a former ECW superstar to defend its honor.

The ongoing verbal feud between the Rock and Vince McMahon has heated up recently, with the two coming to blows on a recent episode of SmackDown, leading to the Rock being fired. The former Corporate Champion seems to resent having been used then discarded by McMahon.

OVW has been a developmentally profitable business relationship for the WWF. The WWF have recently been bringing a few OVW talent that they're reportedly hot on to TV tapings to see them up close in dark matches and Jakked/Heat. Among these include rookie Brock Lesnar, former "Sexual Chocolate" Mark Henry, and college wrestling standout Shelton Benjamin. Only time will tell what kind of wrestlers these men turn into.

The WWF have reportedly been interested in sending their talent overseas, as well as receiving exciting international talent. To that end they've established two-way excursion agreements with All-Japan Pro Wrestling and lucha libre giant CMLL.

OOC: Roster is being slowly updated to the pregame state. At the end of the real life year, the poster with the most correctly predicted cards will receive a special surprise.
