Ramfan77
Everyone in Evansville, Indiana was shocked and angered when the town's main University decided to get rid of the football program. However, after that decision, the university's enrollment dropped and the university figured out that they had made a mistake. One official said that, "Right now, we are like peanut butter without the jelly." The university announced http://www.hoosiergazette.com/Sports/June2004/sports004.htm that the football program would be back in 2007 with ME as the head coach. I've never done this coaching thing before, but I liked playing flag football in middle school--so I am qualified for the role. We will be coming back as a D-1 school, replacing Temple, who will be joining a JUCO league soon.
Ramfan77
The Evansville Purple Aces will take the field with a pretty bad team in 2006. We have only 35 prestige, and the roster isn't that good. However, Felix Harrison will lead this Aces team on offense. He is a pretty good passer who can also scramble and is rated (9/11) out of 20. Gavin Duncan, the (8/8) RB from North high school, located in Evansville. I got the new transfer risk report and none our of players are transfer risks. We decided to redshirt Felix Harrison, and quite a few other people. Our team sucks anyway, so we want to develop some internal talent and not lose what good players we do have. E. Woods (8/8) will be an adequate replacement at QB. ------- We are ROAD FAVORITES at the mighty University of Buffalo. We are 2 point favorites and we are super confident about this game. We win! 22-19 over Buffalo led by a strong performance from our QB. Eric Woods went 20/28 for 261 yards but 0 TD 2 INT. We are still happy with his first game in our west coast offense. Greg Duncan ran for over 100 yards--Woods also ran for 58 yards and a TD. He is a good scrambler. The defense wasn't outstanding, but it kept the Buffalo spread offense under control. --- Evansville then loses by 14 at UAB. (3-17) Evansville then loses by 29 at Maryland. (17-46) Their QB throws for 400 yards and 4 TD's--we will need to recruit a bit more defense. Evansville then loses by 25 at Navy (13-38) The 5 TD's their QB threw today were a bit much. We then pick up a win 17-14. Eric Woods threw for 200 yards and 2 TD's in the victory. ULM sucks, but we are still happy with the win. For some reason, the game scheduled most of my games including the upcoming disaster that is known as the Virginia game. Somehow, though we were 27 point underdogs--we only lost 21-10. Then we get blown out at another unluckily scheduled game. We lost 44-10 against Notre Dame. Army then buries us 28-14. I DON'T GET SWEPT BY SERVICE ACADEMIES. They will pay for this! We are now at 2-6, but we are up against equally bad Ball State (2-6) and have a realistic shot at winning again. T. White catches 3 TD's for over 100 yards, all in the 2nd half, as we rally from a 28-10 halftime deficit to win 41-34! What a great game. We then set an upset win over San Deigo State U 20-19. We then get a matchup against 0-10 Baylor. Sadly, Baylor would get their first win with a 10-6 win. We finish our debut season as 8 point favorites against 1-10 Arkansas State. However, we lost 10-7 to finish 4-8. Still, not a bad start to the program.

Ramfan77
I got a D in everything except Team Performance (F) there and D- overall. No job offers and the budget shrank by $160,000 to just over $1.6 million. Ouch! Recruiting also sucked. The top 3-star recruit had (6) six interest in our school. The best player we got in the country wasn't even in the 1000.
Ramfan77
Income up $160,000 to program up to $1.79 million. Finally, some money to work with. Huge coaching upgrades--fired all 3 current coaches and then seriously underpaid the new coaching staff--and threw the new $150,000 or so of income into coaching. So in all, the avg. coach ability went up by $75000 or so. These coaches are much better. Our recruiting emphasis was on getting QB/WR's that could play in our spread offense. The result was lots of receivers and QB's--none great but a decent bunch. #1088 Franklin Meier (41/60) is the best threat. Top 1000 OLB Charles Brewer will also be solid. At best, we get 3 yards a carry. Clearly, Felix will be carrying the team, as we have no hope of running the ball.

The defense is a bit better, but we are still screwed. Maryland dumps us 24-7, and next week, I will start out playing out most of the games, starting with our road battle at Rice. Evansville (0-1) @ Rice (0-1) We are 5 point underdogs at Rice. They are not a good team though, and we will win this game. 1st Quarter 14:51 We return the kickoff to our 42. Nice field position for the [nothing] & gun offense. We don't run, but Felix can gun. 13:50 Gain of 20 for Felix Harrison. We are in field goal range. 12:53 Harrison to starting RB Sammie Ross for an 18 yard TD pass. 7-0 Purple Aces. 11:57 Fumble recovery at our 32 after a long pass. 7:48 We miss a 22 yard FG, but they were offside, so we make a 20 yarder. 0:00 They get into field goal range--and then to the goal line, but we turn them back. 10-3 Aces after 1 quarter. We are dominating the game though. 2nd Quarter 10:18 They get to our 5 again, but we get a 4 yard loss on a sweep play on 3rd-1. We again limit them to an FG after a good drive for them. 10-6 Aces. 5:30 Felix is going wild today--now running in an 11 yard TD along with his excellence in passing. 17-6 Aces. 1:43 We put up a long FG, but we miss the 47 yard attempt. :32 We recover a fumble at our 28. They were in scoring range, but the D comes through again. Felix is 18/30 for 161 yards and a TD at the half, and Felix Harrison + RB Sammie Ross have combined for 103 rushing yards. 3rd Quarter 8:46 We take a 20-6 lead after another short FG. 3:42 We block a 22 yard FG to remain up 14. We are getting ALL the breaks today. 1:11 38 yard completion to their red zone and they are in deep trouble. That throw looks like the knockout punch. Harrison has been awesome today. 4th Quarter Webb would catch a 2 yard TD on 4th and Goal to make it 27-6, and then Sammie Ross (129 yards) picked up a TD. They get 415 total yards, we get 546, and yet we totally dominated the score. Felix threw for 286 yards, ran for another 120 and got 3 total TD's.

Ramfan77
Evansville (1-1) @ Arkansas State (0-2) We are 3 point dogs in this game. We lost 10-7 to them last year and have a grudge to settle. Can Harrison continue his hot play? 7:09 1st Quarter Felix rushing yards: 44. Felix Passing yards: 14 Total other team member rushing yards: 9. Score 3-0 Aces. :49 49 yard pass to 5th WR Joesph Forbes and we are in striking range. 2nd Quarter 13:08 We convert an FG after the excellent pass. 7:49 Back in FG range but no good from 44. 5:03 They go for a 4th-2, the QB scrambles, looks downfield, and completes a 36 yard strike. Oh wait--yes--the passer was beyond the line of scrimmage and we get the ball back near midfield. 1:50 Sammie Ross goes 11 yards for a rushing TD. 13-0 Aces! 1:06 INT returned 23 yards to our 43. We will look to score again before halftime. 3rd Quarter 11:?? 39 yard TD pass to Webb and we lead 20-0! 2:25 We lose a fumble at their 35, and they run it back to our 40. 1:32 They miss a 42 yard field goal which could have given them some momentum. 379-155--the total yard advantage for us as we are in control. 4th Quarter 11:44 One more spark for the Indians as they pick us off inside our red zone. 10:02 Arkansas State still trusts their FG kicker, and this time he converts. However, shouldn't they be going for TD's now? 20-3 Purple Aces. 9:37 62 yard pass to Carl Turner to atone for the interception. Nice to see that he wasn't rattled--Felix is now over 300 yards passing today. 8:07 6 yard TD pass to Webb for another hookup and we lead 27-3 Aces. 5:33 They get a TD, but we stop the 2pt play. 27-9 Aces. 1:25 Another TD, but it's too late. 27-16 Purple Aces. 337 yards, 2 TD's and we win pretty easily. Those stats are from Harrison, who again dominated, throwing in almost 100 on the ground as well. Webb, with 2 touchdowns, was the leading target. Or that is how it would have gone down. Instead, I received an error during save after game saying that it suspected their were multiple copies running. There weren't--Itunes and BBCF were the only things running--and only 1 copy of each.

I've gotten this error quite a few times after I update to 1.46. I keep having to revert back to 1.04. Ramfan77
Nah, there was only one copy up--I think the problem may have been that I was running lots of background apps (iTunes, music downloader, etc.) and it seemed that the game starting acting weird once all the apps were open. I got this error again actually in my new diary (will post below) but I was saving more regularly so it wasn't a problem.

Ramfan77
Okay, Evansville is back. This time, we replaced Western Michigan in the MAC figuring this was a better conference to compete in. My first recruiting class went quite well, bringing in a speedy 3-star QB, two 3-star WR's, a 3-star RB and a couple of 2-star rb, wr, and defensive players. In all, we only had 11 scholarships so our class was pretty small. We went 7-5 in the first season, but fell to 5-7 (5-3) in our 2nd year. We were losing CLOSE games though, 10-9 at SMU, 10-3 at our stadium against Florida Int. This year though, the offense should be quite a bit better but we do need to pick up some more defensive players in recruiting. Sadly, no one wants to transfer here, which was a major source of improvement in my 1.11 teams. By the way, our prestige is 33, so we can only go up from here. :)

The top 3-star recruit had (6) interest. So, I got a crappy class, though it should be good enough to compete with the other lousy teams in the MAC. Since my coaches are generally about average and not crap in development, most of the players will turn into 2 star players overall, which is okay with me. The offense is pretty good though, for a MAC team, so I think we will outscore people. Here is the roster: RB Dana Riley (61/84) has some of the best upside I've had in a player ever. A real gem from an ordianry 3 star recruit last year, Dana wasn't even a top 500 player. QB Stephen Mckenzie can scramble and has a good arm. Also, we have some good wideouts--so I like the offense. The defense is nothing special but can hold its own against bad teams. ---- We are double-digit favourites for our opening game at home against Arkansas State. We can enjoy a genuine easy win in this game, I believe. 1st Quarter 9:21 Arkansas State makes a long FG to strike first. Though we have a severe talent advantadge, they stuffed us on our first offensive series and then ran all over our defense. 5:31 We get a drive going, but we only get 3 on 4th-5 from their 41. Mckenzie, our starting QB, has not gotten going yet, but superstar RB Dana Riley is off to a good start. 1:23 Another drive and they get to the goal line, 1st-Goal at the one, but we shut them down and limit them to a field goal. 6-0 Indians. 2nd Quarter 10:58 32 yard TD pass for the Indians and we are in trouble. 13-0 Indians. We were 12 point favorites, but Mckenzie looks confused out there. 3/8 9 yards passing, 3 carries -4 yards rushing. 1:17 Finally, a positive event for the Purple Aces. We get a 21 yard pass to Riley to get in their territory during the 2 minute drill. :36 Gain of 19 on 4th-10 with another good pass and we are in field goal range. :19 Mckenzie is picked in the end zone and we go to the half scoreless. 3rd Quarter 6:15 30 yard pass for the Indians and they are in our red zone. 4:33 They make another FG and lead 16-0. :37 Another long TD pass for the Indians and we are down 23-0 in a game we were supposed to win by double digits. Mckenzie has sucked so far, and a backup will be coming in for the 4th Quarter. 4th Quarter 14:29 74 yard pass from QB Carter to top wideout Carlos Short for a TD! Carter came in and made something happen. We go for 2 but it failed. 23-6 Indians. 11:23 Carter made something happen--but this time it was bad. He gets picked effectively ending the game. 7:17 84 yard INT TD return! CB Christopher Moore returns it ALL THE WAY and the score is 23-13 now. The Purple Aces are finally showing life. 4:11 They make another FG but we are still alive slightly. 26-13 Indians. 2:51 60 yard pass to Carlos Short and we are in the red zone. 2:08 3 yard TD pass to RB Dana Riley and it is 26-20 Indians now. Carter has thrown for more yards in 1 quarter than Mckenzie did in 3. 1:36 They cover the onside kick, and we are going to need a miracle. :59 We get it back at our 9 yard line with no timeouts. Can Carter connect on a 3rd bomb pass? :51 Pass of 66 yards to WR James Johnson. What a strange ending to the game. Can we get the last 25 yards? :39 12 yard pass to Dana Riley and we are at the 13. :24 Carter is sacked back at the 17. :11 4th-20 from their 23 coming up now. Carter is Intercepted in the red zone. What a shocking game and what a comeback that would have been. We were one TD pass away from coming back from 23 down in the 4th quarter. Carter threw for over 200 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTS in 1 quarter. Certainly he was a more exciting option than Mckenzie. Ramfan77
Certainly Carter won himself the starting job, at least for now. Will Short get 200 yards receiving today (he got 195 last week) and will Riley (21 yards rushing) get going? Florida Internation (1-0) @ Evansville (0-1) Again, we are big favourites (9 points) but it would be nice if we won this one. The one big difference this week is that FIU's starting QB Troy Gonzales (#1129 in nation recruit) is rated (71/82). What a lucky find for them--like Dana Riley for us, and Troy could be an issue for us. 1st Quarter 10:12 Freshman Kicker Terrell Gonzales makes his first kick off the year, a 44 yard effort. 3-0 Aces. 9:19 A fumble at their 42, and we get it in good field position. 7:44 Carter to Carlos Short for a 5 yard TD pass and we lead 10-0. However, the drive was led by the turnover and Riley's big carries. (5 carries 42 yards so far.) 2nd Quarter 14:54 The next 2 drives lead to field goals for both sides. 13-3 Aces. 12:15 Trading field goals continues as they make another one. 13-6 Aces. 8:32 2nd TE Ishmael Perry makes his first catch of the season--a 44 yard TD from Carter and we lead 20-6. Our offense has been vibrant and features both ground and air game today. 6:04 Gains of 11 and 15 for Riley on consecutive carries and we are in FG range again. 4:37 Terrell is perfect on a trio of field goal attempts, this one from 42 yards out and we lead 23-6. A great first half and we lead by a large margin and have double the total yards. 3rd Quarter 11:14 We get a solid drive and field goal #4 as we extend the lead to 20. Riley passed 100 yards on the drive. 5:02 Carlos Short grabs an amazing, highlight-reel quality 32 yard pass to get us in the red zone. He is on pace for another 100 yard game today. 3:34 Terrell tried again, from 45 yards out this time, but he leaves it short. It probably doesn't matter though. 4th Quarter We are still doing great. We are very happy with our effort today. Riley has 105 rushing yards, and Carter has been much better than Mckenzie was in game one. 12:13 29-6 Aces after Terrell makes another FG. 5:59 Carter is intercepted and it is returned all the way for a TD. 29-12 Aces. A bit familiar to last game where an INT return sparked us? I hope not. 1:13 We pick them in the red zone to end their final scoring chance. Carter throws for 348 yards, Short grabs almost 150 of them, and Riley runs for 120 as we dominated. Our offense was rolling and the emergence of Riley prevented them from trying to only shut down the run. Short has over 300 yards receiving in 2 games, along with three touchdowns. What a combo Carter/Short has been--and let's hope it continues.
Ramfan77
My browser crashed--the short summary of the game against Lousiana-Monroe is that we were again big favorites but things started badly. Carter so far has looked bad in this game, Riley has gone nowhere, and we were outgained by over 200 total yards in the first half alone. Things continued in this dreary manner--with them up 13-0, when an 84 yard fumble for TD took it from their red zone to our end zone. 13-7 ULM with 5:58 left in the 3rd. That is where we stand now: 3rd Quarter Total Yards with 5:58 left in the 3rd: ULM 334, Evansville 118. :11 A 76!! yard punt for ULM puts us back at our 9 but we will have the ball to start the 4th quarter. We were expecting to get the ball up near the 40 though. 4th Quarter 13:31 Carter picked inside our 10 and they return it to our 2. They quickly punch in the TD and lead 19-7 (2pt no good). Turnovers go both ways--this one really hurt-especially since we have had no offense all day to get those points back. 16/35 127 yards 0 TD 2 INT--Carter's stats on the day, and so Mckenzie gets another chance. 10:01 Gain of 15 on 3rd-10 from their 40 and we are getting near the goal line. 9:15 We get to the 5, but are intercepted there. 7:01 We pick them back off. What a strange series there. 5:06 Turnover on downs--both options aren't working for us at QB. :36 26-7 ULM will be the final after a 16 yard TD run. What a dissapointing finish for us--no offensive points for the whole game.

Ramfan77
After the meltdown in last week's game, we need to get ourselves back on track. We have a bye week and then we need to be prepared for our first MAC game. At 1-2 overall, we need to do well in the MAC to get to a bowl and have a winning season, but this offense has enough talent to do it. Since both Carter and Mckenzie were bad last game (under 50% completion and 2 INT's each, I will give Joesph Carter, the QB who has won a game for us this year, the start.) We would also appreciate a decent game from Riley (12 carries, 21 yards last game.) Akron (1-3) @ Evansville (1-2) For an Aces team whose confidence is shaken, Akron is a great match-up.Their offense is 118th overall and we are 5 point favorites. We should outscore them in a low-scoring game. 1st Quarter 14:18 Carter to James Johnson for a 46 yard strike and we are at the dege of field goal range. I feel better already about my choice to start Carter. 13:58 Joesph, on the next play finds Carlos Short for a 38 yard TD pass! What a great 3 play drive. 7-0 Aces. 11:23 After an Akron 3 and out, we decided to throw a screen pass to Dana Riley. Dana went nuts after the catch shedding 3 tackles before accleratiing all the way to the end zone for a 66 yard TD pass. 14-0 Aces. Carter's stats so far 3/3 150 yards 2 TD 0 INT :D :) 6:01 They finally get a drive and an FG. But we still lead 14-3. 1:38 We use finesse and a running game on our next 12 play TD drive. It ended with a 19 yard TD pass to TE Ismeal Perry. 21-3 Aces. 2nd Quarter 13:52 So much for low-scoring. Akron matches our TD with one of their own, and the lead shrinks to 21-10. I expected our D to be more stingy against the #118 offense in the land. 12:42 58 yard punt to their 9 from our freshman punter Eugene Shaw. A very nice effort there and he has been doing well all year. 1:29 Both offense had gone cold, but we got it at midfield with 1:50 left. I was thinking field goal, but then Carter found Combs for a 50 yard TD pass and we lead 28-10. :02 We pick them on their first play after our TD, and get it at our 40. Carter leads us on a hurried drive and we get in field goal rnage. Our true freshman kicker connects and we lead 31-10 at halftime. An amazing last 2 minutes of the half extend our lead from 21-10 to 31-10. Carter is 12/22 436 yards 4 TD 0 INT at halftime. Too bad Mckenzie, you lost your job for good. 3rd Quarter 14:45 They fumble away the opening kickoff at our 12 yard line. We get it in the red zone and could put this game out of reach. 14:38 One play later, Carter finds Carlos Short on a slant for the TD. 38-10 Purple Aces. The final would be 41-20 as we went a bit more to the ground game and were content to run out the clock. Carter threw for over 400 yards and 5 touchdowns, and Riley did a nice job as well. In all, we were dominant today. Short was again a hero at wideout.
