This includes the old bowl ties which could lead to split national titles. Back to the days of bowl tie-ins, split national titles, Catholics vs the Convicts. Also no more easy bowl births, with only 18 bowls in 1989 bowl games are actually earned. Also this file has been cut down to include only the 106 teams that were considered Div 1-A during this time. ............................................ .................Index...................... ............................................ 1........New Teams.......................... 2........Conferences........................ 3........Bowl Tie-ins....................... 4........Prestige Explained................. 5........Errors and suggestions............. ............................................ ............................................ 1) Teams added are Long Beach State, Fullerton, and Pacific all of whom are in the Big West Conference. 2) Conferences include: ACC, Big 8, Big 10, Pac-10, SEC, SWC, WAC, MAC, Big West and three conferences for the Independent teams. 3) Bowl tie-ins are as follows: Bowl Team 1 Team 2 -------------------------------------- Fiesta Bowl open open Rose Bowl Big 10 #1 Pac 10 #1 Orange Bowl Big 8 #1 open Sugar Bowl SEC #1 open Cotton Bowl SWC #1 open Citrus Bowl ACC #1 open Holiday Bowl WAC #1 open California MAC #1 Big West #1 All other bowls are open vs open. 4) New prestigue ratngs have been setup for all teams. To determine the prestigue I have used all teams winning perectage from 1975-1989. Teams who won National Titles recieved a slight boost also. Prestigue is also tier, so better teams and conferences recieved high prestigue than less teams.
