The following is going to be an overview of the big events, matches, signings and happenings that have occured in my diary. In the words of Jerry Garcia, "What a long, strange trip its been." -Wildfire[/QUOTE] [B][SIZE="4"]MAY 2006[/SIZE][/B] * The National Wrestling Alliance, under the guidance of its newly elected President, Mr. J.E. Nelson, ceases to recognize Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and reclaims its World Heavyweight and World Tag Team Championships from them. TNA retains the X-Division title which was never recognized by the NWA and also creates the TNA World Heavyweight and TNA Tag Team titles to replace the NWA's championships. As part of the agreement, the NWA cannot sign any talent who were under contract to TNA at the time of the split for a period of one year. * The NWA announce at a joint press conference with the management of the FUSE network the debut of their new show, FUSION that will air on Wednesday nights live at 9PM EST. The FUSE network's affiliations in the music industry allow the NWA to use licensed music for its show and wrestlers. * The NWA officials scour the globe looking for talent for its promotion. Several top independent stars are signed to NWA contracts including Steve Corino, La Parka, Mike Awesome, Vampiro, Masato Tanaka, Matt Weise, Tito Ortiz and more. * The first episode of FUSION airs featuring four first round matches in the tournament to crown the first true NWA World Heavyweight Champion of the new century. The show is headlined by Steve Corino defeating the Patriot. * Making a surprise appearance, Abdullah the Butcher makes his NWA debut as a mystery opponent for Steve Corino. Corino wins the match which is a bloodbath. * Less than a month after joining the NWA, C.W. Anderson uses an out clause in his contract to leave the NWA to sign with the new ECW. * The NWA and the FUSE Network announce their first two hour special to air on the first Saturday in June called SHOWDOWN. * By the end of the month, the sixteen man World title tournament is down to the final two as Steve Corino defeats Masato Tanaka and D'Lo Brown defeats Matt Weise in the semi-finals.

[B][SIZE="4"]JUNE 2006[/SIZE][/B] * At SHOWDOWN, Steve Corino becomes the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, defeating D'Lo Brown, when Masato Tanaka turns on his former friend, costing him the title. * The SAT, Jose and Joel Maximo are signed to NWA contracts while the Patriot is released from his. * The following Wednesday on FUSION, Masato Tanaka joins the Xtreme Horsemen. The group consists of Corino, Tanaka, Trent Acid, Julio Dinero, and "Senior Advisor" Jack Victory. * Chris Hero defeats Colt Cabana to become the first NWA North American Champion. * La Parka defeats Tito Ortiz to become the number one contender to the World title. * The first promo video for Mr. Wrestling III airs * Becky Bayless debuts as the NWA's backstage announcer. * Tensions rise following the events of SHOWDOWN and a war escalates between the Xtreme Horsemen and the alliance of D'Lo Brown, Colt Cabana, the Briscoe Brothers and La Parka. * Mike Awesome answers an open challenge by Matt Weise but is crushed by a series of stump piledrivers (aka the Stump Grinder) and is stretchered out and has not been seen in the NWA since. * Steve Corino defends the NWA title against La Parka with some help from Jack Victory. * SHOWDOWN 2 is announced with D'Lo Brown and Colt Cabana versus Steve Corino and Masato Tanaka inside a steel cage as the main event. Mr. Wrestling III is also announced to make his debut at the event, facing Nosawa. * Under the guidance of Don Callis, Team Punishment is formed, the alliance of Tito Ortiz and Daniel Puder. * Mike Awesome leaves the NWA to sign with TNA.

[B][SIZE="4"]JULY 2006[/SIZE][/B] * At SHOWDOWN 2, D'Lo and Colt emerge victorious in a bloody cage match, Chris Hero retains his North American title against Vampiro and Mr. Wrestling III makes an impressive debut against Nosawa. * The NWA World Tag Team tournament begins featuring teams from around the globe including Gedo and Jado, Mexico's Most Wanted, and the Headhunters. * SHOWDOWN 3 is announced and a deal is made for the main event between Steve Corino and D'Lo Brown. If D'Lo can defeat Masato Tanaka in a Last Man Standing Match, he will receive a shot at Corino's NWA title. If Tanaka wins, D'Lo cannot receieve a shot at the title for a period of one year. * "Dr. Death" Steve Williams joins the NWA as a trainer and road agent, second only to Stan Hansen. * The One Man Gang debuts on FUSION as the bodyguard of Chris Hero, helping him defeat Doug Williams. * Sterling Keenan, Dropkick Murphy, Rainman and Dave Prazak are signed as dvelopmental talents for the NWA. * Mr. Wrestling III defeats Vampiro twice in two weeks on FUSION, frustrating his foe with his technical mastery. * The NWA World Tag Team tournament finals are set for SHOWDOWN 3 featuring the Briscoe Brothers versus Trent Acid and Julio Dinero for the gold. * The first promo video for the Danger Zone airs. * Steve Corino defends his title on FUSION, defeating Nigel McGuinness. * Evan Karagias is released from his NWA contract.

[B][SIZE="4"]AUGUST 2006[/SIZE][/B] * At SHOWDOWN 3, D'Lo Brown defeats Masato Tanaka in a Last Man Standing match to earn a shot at Steve Corino's NWA World title. Jay and Mark Briscoe defeat Trent Acid and Julio Dinero to become the NWA Tag Team champions, Chris Hero retains his North American title against Doug Williams, the SAT become the number one contenders to the tag titles, and Matt Weise, now known as "The King of the Monsters" wins a $10,000 Monster Battle Royale. * The biggest announcement is made by Senior Road Agent and NWA Board Representative Stan Hansen that on Saturday September 2nd, the NWA would have its first Pay-Per Event, A NIGHT FOR REDEMPTION! * Following an impressive performance in the Monster Battle Royale, "The Derailer" Matt Bloom is signed to an NWA contract. * Steve Corino versus D'Lo Brown for the NWA World title is announced as the main event for A NIGHT FOR REDEMPTION. * The Danger Zone, consisting of Allison Danger, the Messiah and the Necro Butcher debut on FUSION, brutalizing Doug Williams and the One Man Gang mid-match. Their mission is to destroy the "good old boy" network in the business. * Mr. Wrestling III defeats Vampiro for a third time, causing him to break down and openly sob in the middle of the ring. Vampiro has not been seen in the NWA since but remains under contract. * The Briscoes and the SAT battle to twenty and thirty minute draws on consecutive weeks on FUSION which leads to a ladder match being announced for the PPV. * The Danger Zone attack Team Punishment igniting that feud. * Straight Shootin' with Stan, Stan Hansen's internet roundup debuts on NWAwrestling.com.

[B][SIZE="4"]SEPTEMBER 2006[/SIZE][/B] * A NIGHT FOR REDEMPTION is kicked off by a stunning rendition of LIVING IN AMERICA by the Godfather of Soul, James Brown! * New Jack debuts helping the Danger Zone beat down Team Punishment. Mr. Wrestling III defeats Chris Hero for the North American title via a double pin situation. III refuses the title saying that his shoulders were down for the three count. He becomes famous for his "Rules are Rules" motto. The Briscoes narrowly defeat the SAT in the ladder match but are brutally ambushed by Trent Acid and Julio Dinero. * D'Lo Brown defeats Steve Corino to win the NWA World title, sparking off a celebration with Colt Cabana, Mr. Wrestling III, the bruised and battered Briscoes, and featured an impromptu rendition of I FEEL GOOD by James Brown as A NIGHT FOR REDEMPTION goes off the air. * Steve Corino takes an immediate rematch for the title the following Wednesday on FUSION and regains the title through shady means. Mr. Wrestling III comes out and tells the referee what happened and the match gets restarted. D'Lo scores a quick pin to retain. * Eddie Colon and Ricky Banderas are signed to NWA Developmental Deals * Sterling James Keenan makes his FUSION debut, defeating Lizmark. * Steve Corino and the Horsemen beat down the Briscoes and Mr. Wrestling III during a match. Corino vows revenge on the masked marvel for "costing him his title". * Andrei Arlovski debuts as a surprise partner for Team Punishment against the Danger Zone for a six man tag that ends in a no-decision. Team Punishment challenges the Danger Zone to a steel cage match at SHOWDOWN 4. The Danger Zone would accept. * The first promo video for The New Wave debuts. * Mr. Wrestling III pins Steve Corino but is beaten down again by the Horsemen. Corino challenges Mr. Wrestling III and a partner of his choice to face himself and Masato Tanaka at SHOWDOWN 4. Mr. Wrestling III's partner is revealed to be the Patriot. * Following an ambush of Trent Acid and Julio Dinero by the Briscoes, a Cajun Street Fight is booked for SHOWDOWN 4. * Steve Corino discusses numerous topics in a sit down interview with Jim Cornette. * D'Lo Brown versus Naomichi Marufuji for the NWA World title is announced for SHOWDOWN 4. [B][SIZE="4"]OCTOBER 2006[/SIZE][/B] * At SHOWDOWN 5 Chris Hero beats Matt Bloom by countout after Matt Weise interferes on Bloom's behalf. Bloom refuses to win that way and leaves the ring. After the match, Dave Prazak comes out and introduces "The New Wave" Jimmy Rave who has come to the NWA to settle an undisclosed old score with Hero. The Briscoes defeat Acid and Dinero. Masato Tanaka and Steve Corino defeat Mr. Wrestling III and the Patriot when III refuses to enter the ring to break up a pinfall attempt as that is technically against the rules agitating his partner. Team Punishment annihilate the Danger Zone forces New Jack to tap out. The Danger Zone turn on New Jack, dishing out a nasty beatdown. D'Lo and Marufuji battle to an epic forty five minute draw. * Trent Acid and Julio Dinero ambush the Briscoes in the parking lot, breaking Mark Briscoe's hand. They are not suspended but are booked for a title shot at SHOWDOWN 5 against the Briscoes in a Scaffold Match! * D'Lo Brown-Naomichi Marufuji rematch announced for SHOWDOWN 5. * Stan Hansen announces the debut of a new NWA TV show, NWA COAST 2 COAST on the F/X network scheduled for December 3rd, 2006. * New Jack is released from his NWA contract. * Daniel Puder responds to slanderous comments about him by Kurt Angle. * First promo video for "Experience the Experience" airs. Its is revealed to be Elijah Burke. * Chris Hero versus Tito Ortiz is booked for SHOWDOWN 5 for the North American title.
