NYCW: Winds Of Change

New York City Wrestling History NYCW are unapologetically a throwback to an older era. Under the guidance of old-school veteran The Stomper they have changed little since their debut in September 1988 - to this day, they provide slow paced traditional wrestling with minimal glitz, almost as if caught in a time warp from 1976. While this has stopped them from ever expanding outside of the Tri-State area, their loyal fan base would have it no other way, pointing out that while it may not be glamorous, it is consistently value for money. The average age at NYCW was 37 and his main workers were soon to be winding down their careers. His main draw - Joey Minnesota - had grown tired of the alleged backstage politics and left for DaVE leaving only Sammy The Shark & The New York Doll as potentials to take his place due to Travis Century heading to DaVE & American Buffalo heading to TCW. Worse yet was the state of the Tag Team Division. Since its inception in March 2004, only 7 people had ever had the chance to hold the gold, with Wiley Steinway & Coyote Dynamite carrying the belts on 4 seperate occasions. The Tri-State Regional Title, which seemed like a good idea at the time wasn't carrying workers the way that The Stomper wanted it to. It was seen as just a springboard to the Empire Title and the fans had begun to care little about it, presuming that Steve Flash would be the one to take the belt off Grandmaster Phunk in the near future. With attendances dropping, The Stomper realised something. That the winds of change were blowing through the wrestling industy, whether he liked it or not, and NYCW needed to change with it or get left behind. The Stompers office: It had been two days since his realisation and The Stomper had locked himself in his office and not been seen since. Files were scattered across his desk which included attendance figures, popularity reports, detailed NYCW worker files and a list of potential signings. *Knock Knock* "Hey Stomper... Open up.. Its Bailey" Black Hat Bailey, head booker at NYCW and possibly the closest thing to a friend that The Stomper had here at NYCW. "Come on.. Open up. There are a lot of worried people out here. Talk to us" The Stomper looked up at the door, and comtemplated opening it for Bailey, but he just couldn't. He knew that Bailey was a bit stuck in his ways and would try talk him out of it, however would Bailey ever forgive him for the things he was about to do. Would any of his roster like the changes that were coming. He looked away from the door and back to his work. He grabbed the roster list and scanned it for Black Hat Baileys name, before crossing out the words 'head booker' from next to it. The Stomper gave the NYCW file one final look over and closed it. He grabbed a copy of Pro-Wrestling magazine in search of ideas. One article held his interest: 'Rookie Booker Makes UK Promotion Shine' The Stomper let out his first grin in two days, grabbed his coat and unlocked the door. "Thank God! Stomp.. Whats going on" said Bailey. "Cant talk. Have idea" Coming up: A Proposition....

Britannia International Hotel London, England "Stomp, whats going on. First you lock yourself in your office for days then you charge out babbling something incoherent, and now we hear your in the UK. Your wifes going spare here. Call me as soon as you get this" "Sorry Bailey. I will be back soon" The Stomper said to himself as he put away his phone and entered the hotel. The International Hotel was situated in the heart of London's Canary Wharf near Excel and close to the Jubilee line but the subway system was the only thing he was familar with here. So much had changed since his last visit to London that he barely recognised the place. "Change is everywhere. How come i never saw it" he thought to himself. The Stomper headed to reception and was pointed towards where he was scheduled to meet the booker he had read about. Upon arrival his preconcieved image of this man was completely shattered. Whereas The Stomper had thought of this man as probably well, built, imaculately dressed and very well groomed. This man was the complete opposite. Sat there in ripped jeans, unshaven and the worst case of bedhair that The Stomper had ever seen. "You must be The Stomper" the scruffy man said "And you must be Adam, I must admit your not quite like how i expected you" "Im glad to here that. I like breaking people perceptions of things" The Stomper motioned Adam to sit down and ordered a couple of drinks for them both. "Ok so i have read the article in Pro-Wrestling Magazine, now i want to hear it from your own mouth" It took about an hour but Adam explained to The Stomper about how he had been promoted to head booker of 21CW in 2005 and over the last 2 years had helped them get commercial success. He told him about how the new logo and direction that 21CW had now taken was originally part of his and Tyler Baker's plan for a new 21CW. However with 21CW in such bad financial shape, Baker decided to sell everything to Jeff Nova including the rights to the new logos leaving Adam with nothing. The Stomper sat there for a few moments at the conclusion of Adam's tale. "So since Jeff Nova forced you out, what have you been doing" he asked. "Pretty much anything i can to pay the bills" "You want a job?" Coming up: Return to New York....

NYCW Locker Room Upon his arrival in New York, The Stomper had announced that he wanted everyone to attend a roster meeting on friday. It was there that he announced to everyone that Black Hat Bailey would no longer be the head booker, and it was met by a lot of angry workers. To his credit, The Stomper had informed Bailey beforehand to explain things: "Thanks for coming old friend" The Stomper said. "Of course. Im hoping your about to give me the reasons behind your recent behaviour" "I will but im not sure your going to like it" The Stomper poured two glasses of brandy and handed the other to Black Hat Bailey. "NYCW is floundering in a sea of change. Over the last few years the industry has been in flux. TCW has recently changed its style and the UK scene has been turned upside down, but yet we remain doing the same old things. But we cant keep doing it" "What do you mean" Bailey asked. "NYCW is gonna change. Its gonna join every other promotion in the 21 Century. And to do that i have to do something i dont like doing. Im replacing you as head booker" "But......." Baileys voice just trailed off. * * * * * * Baileys reaction was a lot milder than most of the locker rooms. Most of the older workers had begun to see NYCW as a place to end their careers and the thought of this change upset them. And as such took an instant dislike to the new booker when he was brought in front of them. "Dont worry about them" The Stomper said. "As long as you book them well, they will come around" "I have a few plans already if your interested in hearing them. Oh and i have the draft back from the printers for the new NYCW logo" "Looks good" The Stomper said. "I have a couple of things to add about NYCW's image. Our guys have been around a while and a lot of them have demons from the past. They have seen friends die from drink and drugs addictions and some have battled those addictions themselves and i dont want you employing anyone that may possibly be connected to that scene" "I'd prefer a clean locker room as well" "Thats about it. As long as you make NYCW popular again, you have nothing to worry about. Now get thinking, Rush Hour is coming up soon and i want to come out swinging" Coming up: No more backstory

hope you got steve flash to negotiate his contract down, or that he is there for more than a few months. After 3 runs thru NYCW , including my diary (you plagiarist! :p ) I find that Whistler, Phunk and Bailey all leave because you aren't big enough, And stomper won't let you re-sign Dodger(no loss) FLash, or Lee Wright for what they currently make and they won't accept less then.

NYCW Offices Third Week of January 2007 The thing about change is that there sometimes is no way to avoid it. And sometimes a few people could change everything. Since the arrival of Adam as the new booker at NYCW everyone has been on edge waiting for the first sign that something was wrong. And they were not disapointed. A united Whistler, Bailey & Grandmaster Phunk all stood in front of The Stomper to put forward there case. Bailey: "Stomp. We go back.. Are you sure that this is the way you want to take NYCW" Whistler: "Think about it. Im a two time Empire Champion, and a two time tag team champ. Phunk is a former Tri State champ and your current Empire Champion" Phunk: "You cant afford to lose us, and thats whats gonna happen if you carry on this way" Bailey: "Would you rather keep this young kid than us" The Stomper sat there for a moment to consider his options. The Stomper: "You ever think this 'kid' might be good for us, for you. He could come up with new and imaginative ways of getting you over with the fans. I mean, he re-energized the UK wrestling scene for christs sake" Bailey: "Sorry Stomp.. But its pretty much an ultimatum here. If you keep this booker on, none of us are going to be renewing our contracts" "And that was the explosion that shook NYCW to the ground, and the company was never the same again - History of NYCW (2035 Edition)"

just an fyi, Fern is great for t-shirt angles, but as a manager, you may have noticed that she has lousy entertainment skills. I recommend getting nicole kiss from maw, or sienna de ville from bsc. both have good skills and are cheap. Oh yeah, as for Whistler, Bailey and Phunk, signs someone to carry your fed like a Mean Jean or Bulldozer when he debuts and job the hell out of those 3!

I feel proud of the things i have acomplished and for my time as the Empire Champion" On that note, he takes the Empire Championship from the referee and raises it one last time to a huge cheer from the crowd. With a tear in his eye, he hands it to The Stomper. Phunk: "Look after it.." Rating: C Grandmaster Phunk raises his hands to the fans, for one last cheer. He then takes his hat off, lays it in the centre of the ring and climbs out. He shakes hands with some crowd members on his way out before heading backstage for the last time. Rating: C A music video plays showcasing Grandmaster Phunk's time in NYCW, including his victory over Joey Minnesota for the Empire Championship. The video ends with an image of Phunks hat sitting in the middle of the ring. The feedback has been awsome, the small company has outshone some of the bigger promotion's recent efforts. Wrestling sites have praised the way they handled Grandmaster Phunks retirement.

Funny thing is, that i went to all that effort to give him a send off that could tug at peoples heart strings, then the day after he retires from active wrestling, he decides he should be my colour commentator but at $1,400 a show just to announce i decide to do the polite thing. I fire his ass

Like the new Diary (1,002, right? ;) ;) ), LOVE the new logos, which I promptly downloaded. :D, and step up from the MAW logos (too Star Trek / Star Wars for me, and I like both!) Now, if you can hire Oscar Golden, and fix the name of his finisher...actually that could be a hilarious conversation... Adam: Oscar, why is your finisher called "Golden Showers"? Oscar: Uhhh...I'm embarrased to say... Adam: Well, I can tell you right now; the NY crowds will castrate you if you call your finisher that. Let's change it. I do have one curiousity question though: Are you feeling 'it' with NYCW?

Im not sure if you added the internet logo yet but i found it looks awesome in game [/self praise] Im feeling it more than i did with MAW but i think thats its due to the story that i have carrying along side the shows. Gives me a chance to get all creative. Like Phunks retirement. I could have just given it one line. But it wound up with its own backstage post and the end to the last show

I like the way you handled Phunk's retirement. Very classy. Also wanted to remark that you're getting fairly respectable ratings out of these guys! NYCW ain't the easiest roster to work with, and losing Phunk ain't gonna help! But let me know if you get the Latino Kings to do ANYTHING, man. At least they aren't getting boo'd out of the arena for you, right?

They pulled off a D and the crowd didn't crap on them so things look ok hopefully.
Oh, and one other thing, this idea of Land Mass as some sort of slippery sleight of hand expert is the funniest plotline I've ever seen, dude. GENIUS.
Who says Land Mass took the belt.. Did you see him do it ;)
