Marcel manages to wiggle out of the hold before it can be properly applied, however, and hits Gastrovich with a hard Heel Kick. Marcel unleashes on Gastrovich with a series of strikes and slams, before finally nailing his opponent with an impressive Winglock Suplex for the victory.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: Doug Marcel via pinfall</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="Naryakm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Naryakm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="fHT9lWd.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/fHT9lWd.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">VS.</span></strong> <img alt="bNMMKRs.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/bNMMKRs.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Opening Bout:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> Gorilla Poggi vs. Tiger Miller</span></strong></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">After Tiger Miller’s partner, the man in his corner tonight, Luis de la Torre, pinned Gorilla Poggi in their Tag Classic match last week against Poggi and Young Sampson, Poggi demanded a singles match with de la Torre. The luchador is unfortunately nursing a lingering back injury currently, and so he decided to allow Tiger Miller to wrestle in his place this week, against his better judgement, and to Poggi’s delight. The much larger Poggi immediately dominates the match up, and de la Torre can only watch in horror as Miller is Body Slammed over and over again, then finally hit with an Aeroplane Spin. Rather than go for the pinfall, however, Poggi grabs Miller and puts him in the Bear Hug, wrenching him around by his gut until Miller has lost all his strength. Poggi allows Miller to collapse to the floor, and after posing with his foot on his downed opponent for a solid minute of crowd rage, Poggi picks Miller up by his head to deliver his devasting finisher to Miller’s lifeless body; the Headbutt. Yanking Miller head-first into his own forehead after cocking it back and hurling it forward, Poggi only smiles as Miller falls to the floor, unconscious. Poggi covers Miller with one hand, while staring directly into Luis de la Torre’s eyes.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: Gorilla Poggi via pinfall</strong></span></p><p> <img alt="6YwUe9Y.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/6YwUe9Y.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="Qsl992S.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Qsl992S.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="08VzGmm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/08VzGmm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong><span style="font-size:14px;"> VS.</span></strong> <img alt="X4Po6l2.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/X4Po6l2.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="unwTWi9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/unwTWi9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Second Bout:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> EPWA El Paso City Tag Team Classic Round 1:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> Paul Jones & Stanley Rogers vs. Charro Aguayo & Rey Malvado</span></strong></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">The first Tag Classic bout of the night sees Paul Jones, who is now signed full time with EPWA coming off his victory over Ray Ryan at ‘Big Time I,’ team up with Stanley Rogers, last seen losing to the Dogs with Doug Marcel at ‘Weekly Catch V,’ to take on Charro Aguayo, who is coming off an even huger victory at ‘Big Time’ over Jim Londos, (via countout following Aguayo tying up Londos on the outside), and Rey Malvado, a rookie who has been tearing it up in the pre-show bouts, winning four straight matches since debuting at ‘Catch V’ and remaining undefeated. Malvado and Rogers begin the match, and Rogers is able to force Malvado to the floor rather easily, throwing him into an Armbar early in the match. Malvado is freed when Charro Aguayo distracts the ref by yelling and screaming, and Malvado has the opening to spit in Rogers’ face. Malvado immediately tags in Charro upon being freed, and Charro unleashes on Rogers, hitting several of his signature Dropkicks and then an Armdrag before pulling Rogers up and whipping him towards Paul Jones, demanding Jones tag himself in. Jones happily obliges, giving Rogers time to rest while him and Aguayo lock up in the ring. Charro manages to hit another Armdrag, a move he has used sparingly in the past but now seems to have mastered, in the grappling, but Jones pops up from the move and dashes towards Aguayo to hit his Back Body Drop. Aguayo jumps right back up from that move, however, and hits Jones with a Drop Kick, then hitting a rough looking German Suplex for good measure. Another Armdrag/Drop Kick combination leaves Jones stumbling, and Charro Drop Kicks him once more, sending him right towards the outstretched hand of Stanley Rogers, who is desperate to get in the match and tags himself in. Rogers charges Aguayo, and after running right into an Armdrag, manages to reverse the move into an Armbar. It doesn’t last long, however, and Aguayo manages to weasel his way out and pull Rogers up for a successful Armdrag. Aguayo signals to the crowd that the finish is coming, but instead of whipping Rogers into the corner to deliver the Corner Drop Kick, Aguayo hits yet another Armdrag, this time transitioning into an Armbar of his own before Rogers has even hit the ground, wrenching at Rogers’ arm for only about ten seconds before Rogers taps.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winners: Charro Aguayo & Rey Malvado, via submission on Stanley Rogers from Aguayo. Mackey vowed revenge, even going as far as to challenge Ryan to a first-ever no-DQ match, but the EPWA office decided against the match and at Mackey and Ryan’s next meeting at ‘Weekly Catch VI,’ Ryan won once again following a low blow and some outside-the-ring offense. After that match, Ryan was intent on beating down Mackey, and who came to his rescue but then double-champion Chino Achiu! Achiu, who at ‘Catch V’ beat Franz Wolff and attempted to kick him out of EPWA, challenged Ryan to find a tag partner for a match the next week. That week, at ‘Weekly Catch VII,’ Ryan appeared with the ‘banished’ Franz Wolff to defeat Achiu and Mackey after Wolff spit in Achiu’s eyes, Ryan low blowed him, and then finally just punched him in the face. The next week, Achiu prevented Wolff from pinning Mackey in a singles match after a gut punch with some brass knuckles, going on to pin Ryan clean in the next match, while Mackey prevented Wolff from interfering. Mackey and Ryan were supposed to finally have their ‘no-DQ’ match the next Saturday at ‘Big Time Catch I,’ but Mackey suffered an injury working for Alb AC, and so was replaced in the match, which was no longer no-DQ, by Paul Jones, who won. Now, Achiu teams with a new partner in Don Sugai, a promising rookie active in the region, to once again take on Wolff and Ryan, this time in the tournament setting. The crowd falls to a hush when Achiu appears, however, but once murmurs from those ‘in-the-know,’ who may have attended ‘San Antonio Wrestling,’ filled in the crowd on what had happened, there were cries and gasps of disbelief: Chino Achiu was came into the Auditorium wearing only his EPWA El Paso City Championship, the TPA belt was nowhere to be seen. Apparently, Achiu had lost the belt to Bob Bibber McCoy, who in a shock coincidence made his EPWA debut last week, defeating Jim Londos and Doug Marcel in the first round of the Tag Classic with Billy Edwards, in the main event of Willoughby Athletic Incorporated’s aforementioned show. Although Achiu seemed as confident as ever, or at least was good at feigning it, Ryan and Wolff snickered in their corner, pointing at the former double-champ. That prompted Achiu to insist on starting the match, going up across from Franz Wolff. Unlike in the past, where Wolff has been able to at least hang with Achiu, the champion takes it to the despicable N*zi with repeated Dropkicks and a German Suplex. Achiu pulls Wolff up to deliver several heavy strikes and kicks, before hitting a second German Suplex and tagging in Sugai. The debuting rookie does well against the already prone German, hitting him with an arsenal of strike-based offense composed of Heel Kicks and Palm Strikes, before finally sinking in the Japanese Sleeper. After a few minutes of torture, Sugai tags Achiu back in to hit a vicious Release German Suplex for a dominant victory while the injured Cyclone Mackey looks on, approvingly.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winners: Chino Achiu & Don Sugai, via pinfall on ‘Kommandant’ Franz Wolff from Chino Achiu. He says he is incredibly sorry for losing the TPA championship, as the chief representative of EPWA. He says he underestimated Bob Bibber McCoy, its true, but he plans on pinning him in this very tag tournament, as Achiu and Sugai meet McCoy and Edwards next week, to justify a title challenge within EPWA, where Achiu says he is at his peak. Vowing to ‘return the TPA title home,’ Chino Achiu leaves the Auditorium with Don Sugai and Cyclone Mackey, showered in his usual cheers.</span></p><p> <img alt="dO2SmCQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/dO2SmCQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="Qitlkxc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Qitlkxc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">VS.</span></strong> <img alt="sMN8VCa.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sMN8VCa.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Fourth Bout:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> Joe Parelli vs. Walter Stratton</span></strong></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">Before this singles match breaking up the Tag Classic, Joe Parelli takes to the microphone and calls out Otis Clingman, saying that although the dim-witted fans probably don’t remember, Parelli and Clingman are 1-1, and at ‘Big Time Catch I’ Clingman challenged Parelli to a blow-off match at ‘Weekly Catch X,’ which he accepted. Well, it’s now ‘Catch X,’ and instead Parelli is facing Stratton. What happened? Parelli says Clingman is scared and using the Tag Classic to hide from the singles match he claimed to want so bad, but Parelli isn’t scared: after he goes on the beat Walter Stratton, he’ll win the Tag Classic with Dr. Archie Rauta, and then finally defeat Otis Clingman and get him off his back. Parelli finishes by flipping off the angry crowd, and the match begins. This bout serves a preview of one of next week’s tournament contests, which will see Joe Parelli and partner Dr. Archie Rauta meet Walter Stratton and his partner Swede Larson in the second round. Stratton and Parelli last met when Walter and Swede beat Joe and then partner Ray Ryan at ‘Weekly Catch IV,’ leaving Stratton and Larson as the favourites of sorts heading into next week. The two are pretty even matched as the bout begins, trading positions on the mat for several minutes before breaking contact. Parelli outstretches his hand as the crowd applauds, but Stratton doesn’t fall for it and kicks Parelli’s hand away, grabbing him and managing to deliver the Cradle Press, holding Parelli down for a near fall. Parelli retaliates with by sinking his signature Full Nelson, grinding Stratton into the mat before pulling him up to deliver the Full Nelson Swing, spinning Stratton around before launching him several feet. Parelli returns to once again sink in the hold, but Stratton wiggles his way out and counters Parelli by sinking in his own Hammerlock, unfortunately way too close to the ropes as Parelli’s outstretched hand breaks up the submission. When both competitors are back on their feet, Parelli dodges another Cradle Press attempt, once again applying the Full Nelson Hold. Stratton struggles for several minutes before getting just barely close enough to the ropes to grab them and break up the hold. After the two are once again separated, Parelli slides to the outside, and Stratton follows him in the hopes of nipping any cheating in the bud by Irish whipping Parelli into the barricade, Parelli does likewise, following up by pulling Stratton up the entrance ramp and hitting the Full Nelson Suplex. Parelli takes a second to recover, but upon hearing referee Tom Churchill’s six count, begins to make his way back to the ring. Stratton summons all of his remaining power, however, and lunges at Parelli to nail a German suplex of his own, leaving himself and Parelli on the outside as Churchill counts ten.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Draw due to double countout</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="dO2SmCQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/dO2SmCQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="rDvz9wo.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rDvz9wo.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="4V5wxq6.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/4V5wxq6.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">VS.</span></strong> <img alt="DZyaBmM.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/DZyaBmM.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="1THY2q9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/1THY2q9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:14px;">Semi-Main Event:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:14px;"> EPWA El Paso City Tag Team Classic Round 1:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:14px;"> Jules Strongbow & Dude Chick vs. Paul Harper & Yaqui Joe</span></strong></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">The Tag Classic continues in this match, as the debuting team of Jules Strongbow, a mid south main eventer employed by the Gulf Athletic Club, Willoughby Athletic Productions, and the Olympia Athletic Club, and Dude Chick, a kayfabe cowboy who main events for Amusement Enterprises and Wrestling in Arkansas, take on Paul Harper and Yaqui Joe, the last team to lose to The Dogs, at ‘Big Time Catch.’ Besides losing to the Dogs, the two still have a lot to prove after both losing several key matches in the past month or so. Harper starts off against Chick, and the wrestling cowboy takes Harper to the ground early, locking in several submissions before Harper reaches the ropes. Chick doesn’t let the break last long, however, immediately clotheslining himself and Harper onto the outside. This prompts both Joe and Strongbow to rush over, and a brawl ensues that ends in Chick whipping Harper and Joe with a bullrope while Strongbow distracts the ref, then pulling Harper back into the ring to come moments from a pinfall while Strongbow continues the beat down on Joe. Harper fires up while Chick recovers for a moment and scoops his opponent up to deliver a pair of German suplexes, followed up by the Boston Crab, and several minutes of struggle broken up by Jules Strongbow, who pulls Chick back to their corner to tag himself in. Harper returns to his corner and tags in the recovered Yaqui Joe, who comes in with a vengeance against Strongbow, immediately slamming his opponent to the ground with a clothesline, then hitting a Body Slam before sinking in his own submission in the Hammerlock, which seems to bring Strongbow close to tapping. Joe ends the hold so he can Body Slam Strongbow once again, and after a few devastating chops Joe applies the Full Nelson, and suplexes Strongbow before transitioning into the Knee Bar Toehold Combination for an immediate submission.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winners: Paul Harper & Yaqui Joe, via submission on Jules Strongbow from Yaqui Joe. Clingman dodges several clotheslines and a European uppercut from the fired-up Hollis before hitting his own Heel Kick, followed up by a German Suplex, a Body Slam, and an attempt at a pinfall that Hollis barely struggles out of. Clingman doesn’t waste any time in sinking in his Toehold, leading to several minutes of Hollis hollering in pain before Clingman mirrors their match last week and transitions into the Boston Crab, the move he tapped Hollis out with. Ted Cristy must have been paying attention last week, however, as he comes into the ring and nails Clingman with a boot to the face, whipping him into the corner before dragging Hollis back to their corner and tagging himself in. Clingman manages to dodge and initial Body Slam attempt from Cristy but gets caught in a Shoulder Tackle that takes him to the ground and into a simple Armbar. Lindsay returns Cristy’s favour by hitting the ring and breaking up the submission, tagging himself in. Lindsay manages to dodge a second Shoulder Tackle and use Cristy’s momentum against him by rolling him into a schoolboy that earns Lindsay a shocking nearfall, before Cristy jumps back up and wastes no time in nailing Lindsay with a stiff kick, that he follows up with a few more strikes and a pair of Shoulder Tackles that slam Lindsay to the ground. Instead of sinking in the Armbar, however, Cristy lifts Lindsay up to deliver a two-rotation Aeroplane spin, sending him flying across the ring. Lindsay is too close to Clingman, however, as the babyface manages to tag himself in off of Cristy’s finisher without letting Cristy know, who still goes for the pin before getting hit with a surprise German Suplex from Clingman. Clingman nails a Body Slam, and then puts Cristy in the Boston Crab for a few minutes, eventually struggling into the One-Legged Crabhold, which earns Otis a submission victory.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winners: Oscar Lindsay & Otis Clingman, via submission on Ted Cristy from Otis Clingman. Clingman responds to Joe Parelli, saying that not only will he and Lindsay defeat Parelli and Rauta in the Classic, Clingman will go on to beat Parelli at the soonest convivence, because its not that Clingman is scared, only that Parelli is so low on Clingman’s priorities that he forgot about him. Laughing with the crowd, Clingman and Lindsay head out of the Auditorium, looking forward to the rest of the tournament.</span></p><p> <img alt="P1yEvBo.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/P1yEvBo.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span style="font-size:18px;"><strong>Show Rating:</strong></span></p><p> <img alt="dO2SmCQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/dO2SmCQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p>

This meant, obviously, that EPWA could no longer push the double-champ gimmick, but beyond that, at only 8 defenses, Dempsey felt disrespected as a booker, and creative mind. McIntosh had really brought in some big names, like Jim Londos, Bob Bibber McCoy, and Dr. Archie Rauta, to draw the crowds to the inaugural El Paso City Tag Team Classic. Otis Clingman had been paired with Oscar Lindsay, and their first tag match was next week in the second week of round 1. Otis still didn’t know if he was scheduled to win that match, but he hoped he and Lindsay would be given a chance; he certainly didn’t want to get lost in the shuffle with teams like Sammy Cohen/Jack Russel, Swede Larson/Walter Stratton, Dory Delton/Frenchy Leavitt, etc. He wanted to make a real impact, obviously, but what he saw as the difference was his ability to enact it.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> Otis would become the hardest working person on the roster, he was determined to. Lindsay, not seen since being eliminated by Chino Achiu in the #1 Contender’s Battle Royale at ‘Weekly Catch III,’ after lasting until the final two alongside current double-champ Achiu, has a singles victory over Ray Ryan at ‘Catch II,’ and is looking to build some more momentum before he and partner Otis Clingman officially enter the EPWA El Paso City Tag Team Classic next week. Lindsay does just that against Heard, not seen since losing to Walter Stratton at ‘Catch VII,’ as Lindsay ends the match with two Heel Kicks, a German Suplex, and finally his finishing Winglock Suplex for the victory.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: Oscar Lindsay via pinfall</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="6YwUe9Y.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/6YwUe9Y.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="sM5vd7J.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sM5vd7J.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="sM5vd7J.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sM5vd7J.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="5g2sGAN.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/5g2sGAN.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">Before the show can officially begin, Joseph G. ‘Biz’ Kenney and Curley Morgan hit the ring with John McIntosh, where they interview the EPWA General Manager about the EPWA El Paso City Tag Team Classic. Kenney says that he prefers Dr. Archie Rauta and Joe Parelli, whereas Morgan is dumbfounded that either man can pick a team that doesn’t include wrestling’s premiere star: Jim Londos and Doug Marcel are obviously the inaugural El Paso City Tag Team Classic winners. Joe, on the other hand, has been trying to work out of somewhat of a slump, having only beaten ‘King’ George Gastrovich since the beginning of the year, and having lost to Hugh Nichols, Charro Aguayo and Paul Harper in that time, as well as the Dogs while teaming with Harper. Joe more or less dominates the match, to the crowd’s delight, slamming Sampson around the ring before sinking in first the Combination Bar & Toe Hold, and then the Hammerlock for several excruciating minutes, for Sampson, before the surprisingly slightly more experienced Sampson taps.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: Yaqui Joe via submission</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="Naryakm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Naryakm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="fHT9lWd.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/fHT9lWd.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="sTVnzed.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sTVnzed.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">VS.</span></strong> <img alt="dF4UOhu.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/dF4UOhu.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="bNMMKRs.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/bNMMKRs.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Second Bout:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> EPWA El Paso City Tag Team Classic Round 1:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> </span></strong><span style="font-size:14px;">Gorilla Poggi & Young Sampson vs. Luis de la Torre & Tiger Miller</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> This match sees the historic beginning of the first ever EPWA El Paso City Tag Team Classic, and features a rematch from just five days ago, as ‘Big Time Catch I’ saw Poggi and Sampson team to defeat de la Torre and Miller in the opening bout. de la Torre and Miller have only one other match to their name, a losing effort against the Dogs at ‘Catch VI,’ but Luis de la Torre of course holds a victory over Poggi’s head from ‘The Beginning,’ and hopes to do it again with Miller tonight and advance to the next round of the tournament. Miller, who submitted to Poggi at ‘Big Time,’ refuses to let de la Torre begin the match, and Poggi could not be happier, starting the match off for his team. Once the bell is rung it’s a replay of Saturday as Poggi tosses the smaller Miller around the ring, eventually hitting him with the Aeroplane Spin, sending Miller flying towards de la Torre’s corner, where the masked man tags himself in, unbeknownst to Poggi, and comes in to the match hot, catching a surprised Poggi off guard and managing to hit the Backbreaker on the large man. Although only earning a two-count, de la Torre looks to keep the momentum rolling as he picks Poggi up for more offense, finally setting him up for the First Rope Leaping Senton, the move de la Torre used to defeat Poggi over a month ago. Sampson sees what’s going on, however, and enters the ring to stop the move, prompting Tiger Miller to also enter, and the match descends into chaos. Somewhere in the brawl, de la Torre manages to hit a Back Body Drop on the towering Poggi, and after him and Miller double clothesline Miller out of the ring, de la Torre slowly ascends his corner to hit the First Rope Leaping Senton and cover Poggi for three.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winners: Luis de la Torre and Tiger Miller, via pinfall on Gorilla Poggi from de la Torre. Finally, Cohen gets fed up and bolts into the ring to clothesline Stratton, who was busy trying to force Russel into the Hammerlock submission, and drag Russel back to their corner to tag himself in. Cohen, although fresh, runs into a brick wall in the slightly smaller man as Stratton uses his momentum against him to send Russel crashing to the floor, only to scoop him up and nail the Cradle Press, attempting a cradle-pinfall that Russel barely manages to wriggle out of. Stratton tags out to Larson, who sinks in his own Hammerlock for several minutes before transitioning into his devasting Indian Death Lock finisher. Cohen darts in to break the submission up, but much like Ray Ryan at ‘Catch IV,’ Walter Stratton in one step ahead of Sammy Cohen and meets him the ring, clotheslining himself and Cohen out onto the floor and giving Larson the time he needs to submit Russel.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winners: Walter Stratton & Swede Larson, via submission on Jack Russel from Swede Larson. As Hollis winds up for his Palm Strike, however, Clingman comes alive and ducks the move, grabbing Hollis’ waste to deliver a German Suplex. He follows the move up with a series of Body Slams, and finally pulls Hollis up to deliver his own striking move, the Heel Kick, which sends Hollis crashing to the floor. Clingman goes for the pin, but Hollis shows some resiliency and kicks out at two, before spitting in Clingman’s face. This enrages the crowd-favourite, who immediately yanks Hollis to his feet and delivers a vicious back-handed slap to the heel, following the move up with another Body Slam. Clingman takes a few moments to recover his strength before forcing Hollis into the Toehold, wrenching at his ankle. Hollis, screaming in pain, drags Clingman to the ropes, but Clingman plants himself down, refusing to move any closer as Hollis’ fingers outstretch, inches away from the bottom rope. Clingman manages to transition into the Boson Crab, which causes Hollis to scream and lose control even further, as he desperately reaches for the ropes. Eventually, however, Hollis cannot ignore the pain and realizes he has exhausted his strength tapping out and collapsing onto the mat from exhaustion, to the crowd’s delight.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: Otis Clingman via submission</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="P1yEvBo.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/P1yEvBo.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="aGYoAR3.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/aGYoAR3.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Qitlkxc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Qitlkxc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">VS.</span></strong> <img alt="AzItB9o.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/AzItB9o.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="sM5vd7J.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sM5vd7J.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Semi-Main Event:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> EPWA El Paso City Tag Team Classic Round 1:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> Dr. Archie Rauta & Joe Parelli vs. Dory Delton & Frenchy Leavitt</span></strong></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">The Tag Classic continues, as the debuting Dr. Archie Rauta, a star in Amusement Enterprises and Lubbock who wrestles for Olympic Wrestling in California, teams with Joe Parelli to take on Dory Delton and Frenchy Leavitt, a team with one victory under the belt against Jack Russel and Young Sampson at ‘The Beginning.’ Parelli and Leavitt begin the match, locking up and grappling around the ring for several minutes with neither gaining the upperhand, before Parelli manages to poke Leavitt in the eyes behind the ref’s back and roll him up for an early near fall. Bowing to the booing crowd, Parelli allows Leavitt to tap in the fresh Dory Delton as he taps in Dr. Archie Rauta. Rauta, who is rumored to have his doctorate in chiropractics, is no stranger to most of the EPWA crowd, who have seen him elsewhere, and they know exactly how loud to boo him as he forces Delton to the mat, grappling around with younger man and keeping him down for several minutes, culminating in Rauta forcing Delton into the Octopus Clamp, a move he borrowed from New Zealand’s Lofty Blomfield, to get close to a submission before Delton somehow manages to pull himself and Rauta to the ropes. Rauta keeps the submission held for as long as the ref will allow, and as he stands up, grinning, Delton crumples onto the mat. Rauta parades for the crowd before scooping Delton up and delivering the devasting Power Bomb, a rare move in the wrestling world. Delton is totally down for the count, but Rauta apparently isn’t ready for the pin as he slowly helps a groggy Delton to his feet, whipping him against the ropes to hit the Crucifix on his stumbling opponent, bringing down to the mat for a victory with the pinning maneuver.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winners: Dr. Archie Rauta & Joe Parelli, via pinfall on Dory Delton from Dr. Archi Rauta. Londos and Marcel are apparently old college pals, which explains why the ‘strongest’ wrestler in the world is teaming with a jobber. Londos, to the crowd’s roaring approval, begins the match, opposite Bob Bibber McCoy. Londos gains the initial upperhand in the grapple, forcing McCoy to the ground and into the Armbar. Before he can do any real damage, however, Edwards hits the ring to break up the submission, pulling McCoy back up to his feet so the two can hit a stereo Dropkick on the superstar, sending him back into his corner, where Marcel tags himself in. As Marcel charges McCoy and Edwards, Edwards slides out of the ring to let McCoy wrestle, only to run over to the recovering Londos and knock off the ring with a sliding Drop Kick. Edwards follows the move up by Irish-whipping Londos into the outside barricade, then clotheslining the fan favourite into the crowd. Edwards climbs over the barricade to continue to offense, dragging Londos further away from the ring while delivering European Uppercuts, Dropkicks, and clotheslines. Back in the ring, McCoy and Marcel have been grappling around the mat, with Marcel shockingly gaining the upperhand and forcing McCoy to the mat. After a minute of struggle, however, McCoy reaches the ropes and turns the pace of the match way up by hitting Marcel with a Shoulder Tackle, then running the ropes several times, nailing Marcel with a Shoulder Tackle with each pass before leaping from the ropes and nailing dead-on-his-feet Marcel with a Flying Tackle, taking him to the ground and earning a nearfall. Out in the crowd, Edwards still has the upperhand on Londos, even hitting him with a chair from the audience, which had to be borrowed from a member of the capacity crowd, before finally sitting on the chair to relax for a moment. The fan is understandably upset, and as they argue Londos musters up some energy and seizes the moment, picking Edwards up for a German Suplex, which he follows up with a Body Slam. Back in the ring, McCoy has kept his advantage with even more Shoulder Tackles and Dropkicks, before finally signaling the finish to the infuriated crowd as Marcel lays, down-and-out, in the center of the ring. McCoy slowly ascends to the first rope in the corner and laughs as he motions for Marcel to get up, waiting for his moment to strike. Londos, on the outside, has fully recovered and is bolting for the ring with Edwards giving chase, but Marcel is unaware of the situation and stumbles to his feet, only to be nailed by McCoy’s finishing Flying Dropkick. McCoy goes for the pin, but Londos is closing in on the ring, intent on breaking up the pinfall. Unfortunately for the babyface team, Londos slides into the ring right as referee Joe ‘Bodyslam’ Boyd’s hand comes down for the third count, coming within a foot of the pin, but unable to stop it.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winners: Bob Bibber McCoy & Billy Edwards, via pinfall on Doug Marcel from Bob Bibber McCoy. Before Londos can recover, Edwards hits the ring and the main event victors pull Londos to his feet to deliver stereo Dropkicks. Edwards then puts Londos in the Abdominal Stretch as McCoy pulls the nigh unconscious Marcel to his feet to run the ropes and nail his Flying Tackle. Edwards pulls Londos into position to receive his own, and after McCoy hits it, the heels roll Londos and Marcel out of the ring, where a furious Londos has no choice but to help his injured friend to the back while the winners showboat to the likewise infuriated crowd.</span></p><p> <img alt="P1yEvBo.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/P1yEvBo.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span style="font-size:18px;"><strong>Show Rating:</strong></span></p><p> <img alt="P1yEvBo.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/P1yEvBo.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p>

Jack Curley was convinced something was going on, something more than John McIntosh’s supposed career renaissance, which was the excuse McIntosh gave everyone for EPWA’s growing success and booking changes, something new. Someone new...</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> And Londos’ was to figure out who that someone was, alongside his usual duty of growing the national profile of the NWA by appearing all over the country, in smaller time promotions like EPWA. And he had an inkling; Jack Dempsey, recently hired as a radio announcer, seemed to command a certain amount of respect with ‘the boys,’ more than just a simple announcer. That didn’t prove anything, however, and with Londos only interacting with McIntosh and only seeing Dempsey when absolutely necessary, he knew he wasn’t the man to figure the mystery out: he was simply to important a man to go sneaking around. Curley may not like to hear that, but it was the case.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> Still, besides his assignment from Curler, Londos had a personal fascination with EPWA: something big was certainly happening here. Sampson tags in Poggi, who is itching to get his hands on de la Torre, and he does, throwing the smaller man around the ring before putting him through his ‘Airplane Spin,’ launching him onto the ground. de la Torre shows some spirit, however, kicking out of a pinning attempt following the move. Poggi yells and paces, frustrated, opening the door for de la Torre to tag in Tiger Miller, who cautiously enters the ring. Poggi treats him much the same he did de la Torre, throwing him around and slamming him into the mat as soon as he gets his meaty hands on Miller. Stratton, for his part, is looking to start gaining some momentum, and a victory over the most legit hated man in EPWA would certainly help that cause. As the two begin to grapple, it’s clear that Wolff thinks that he’s got Stratton’s number, but he’s quickly proven wrong as Stratton forces him into the Hammerlock hold, rolling Wolff around for a few minutes. The rest of the match goes by quickly as Stratton transitions into different holds and easily counters everything Wolff throws at him; he has clearly done his homework. Finally, Wolff realizes the predicament he’s in, and tries to slide out of the ring, surely to grab some sort of weapon. Stratton catches his leg, however, and once Wolff finds himself Stepover Toehold, he quickly taps.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: Walter Stratton via submission</strong></span></p><p> <img alt="p0ngvUc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/p0ngvUc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="Qitlkxc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Qitlkxc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">VS.</span></strong> <img alt="E2faBt4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/E2faBt4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Third Bout:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> Joe Parelli vs. Otis Clingman</span></strong></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">A rematch from ‘Weekly Catch VI,’ where the two men when up against each other for a chance at the No1 Contendership, which of course ended with Clingman’s victory. Now Clingman, wanting to get over the bump of losing to Ed Lewis in the No1 Contendership bout at ‘Catch VIII,’ is going back to Parelli at a bigger stage. The match begins with some standard grappling, but unlike their first match, Parelli manages to get the upper hand and grind Clingman into the mat. Clingman wrestles from beneath for several minutes as Parelli keeps him on the defensive, scoring a few power moves before attempting to sink in his devasting Figure Four Leglock. Parelli was greedy, however, as Clingman manages to wrestle away from the hold and hit Parelli with a Body Slam and immediately follow it up with his Toehold. Parelli struggles for several minutes before Clingman decides its time and locks in the Boston Crab, pulling Parelli into an almost vertical angle and screaming at him to give up. Its Clingman’s turn to be greedy, it turns out, as Parelli manages to power out and after the two lay and recover for several moments Parelli comes too and sloppily slaps Clingman into the Figure Four, which a battered Clingman cannot but tap to.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: Joe Parelli via submission</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="NepfelE.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NepfelE.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="E2faBt4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/E2faBt4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Qitlkxc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Qitlkxc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">After the match, a defeated Otis Clingman takes to the mic and challenges Parelli to ‘a blow off;’ seeing as they both have one victory over each other, they should wrestle at ‘Weekly Catch X’ in two weeks and determine finally which of them is the best. Paul Harper and Yaqui Joe, on the other hand, are both of them struggling to get over losing humps; Harper, of course, lost the TPA championship almost a month ago to Hugh Nichols before going on a losing streak against Franz Wolff and Charro Aguayo, only to beat Gorilla Poggi and his tag team partner tonight Yaqui Joe and earn the right to face Ed Lewis for a chance at the No1 Contendership, in the end losing to the invading heavyweight. Joe, on the other hand, lost to Charro Aguayo, Hugh Nichols, and finally Paul Harper before teaming with him tonight in an attempt to end the Dogs’ streak. Joe starts off against Mike McGuire, a man he defeated teaming with Otis Clingman all the way back at ‘Catch II’ when McGuire teamed with former partner Ted Cristy. Once again, Joe has the upper hand against McGuire on the mat, out wrestling him and planting him on the ground multiple times. McGuire decides to switch it up after receiving a few body slams, and clotheslines Joe onto the floor, where the Bulldog is waiting. While McGuire distracts the referee by attacking Paul Harper, the Bulldog lays the boots to Joe, even pulling out a spare 2x4 from beneath the ring and smacking Joe upside the head with it. His work complete, the Bulldog rolls Joe back into the ring, but he hops back onto the corner and demands the right to pin Joe. McGuire rolls his eyes and obliges, tagging in the Bulldog, but while they were arguing Joe manages to crawl his way to Harper, who comes into the match angry and ready to fight, taking it to the Bulldog with several vicious clotheslines and a German Suplex. The Bulldog shrugs off the damage, however, and reverses another German suplex attempt into a German of his own, hitting several more in quick succession before delivering the Winglock suplex and cover Harper for a shocking three count while Joe lies semi-conscious on the outside.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winners: The Dogs via pinfall on Paul Harper from The Bulldog</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="dO2SmCQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/dO2SmCQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="oD7imE0.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/oD7imE0.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="zcS39tn.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/zcS39tn.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="5g2sGAN.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/5g2sGAN.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">After the match, the Dogs boot their former opponents out of the ring, and demand mics. McGuire says the obvious: the two of them are on a monster 7 match winning streak! They demand John McIntosh memorialize their tag team domination with a plague or trophy, or even perhaps a championship? This line earns McGuire a rare pop from the crowd, who are eager to see someone, anyone, beat the Dogs. McGuire says they know McIntosh has formally ordered two tag titles made, and they demand to be awarded these belts. This prompts the man himself, John McIntosh, to show himself, a microphone in his hand. He tells the Dogs, and the crowd, that yes, he has ordered title belts. The Dogs will not be awarded these belts however, far from it, in fact, there is to be a tag team tournament to determine the first champions over the next four weeks, culminating at the next monthly event: ‘EPWA Big Time Catch II!’ The Dogs, McIntosh says, will not be competing in the tournament, however, as because they do have such an impressive win streak they are automatically included in the finals of the tournament, essentially making the tournament a way to find worthy challengers to the Dogs. McGuire and the Bulldog seem alright with that, and the crowd roars at the prospect of tag team champions in a month!</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="CVCijCy.jpg?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/CVCijCy.jpg?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="Wmb9PAU.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Wmb9PAU.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="2ZTt6RA.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/2ZTt6RA.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="8rSIBf9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8rSIBf9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="ofoviKx.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ofoviKx.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">As Ray Ryan makes his way to the ring for the next match, the crowd explode at the surprise appearance of double-champion Chino Achiu at the top of the ramp. Achiu says that he has bad news; his friend Cyclone Mackey was injured while wrestling Franz Wolff at ‘Weekly Catch VIII,’ so although he’ll be returning soon, he is unable to wrestle Ryan tonight. For once, Ray Ryan and the crowd agree, and boo at the news. Achiu looks apologetic, but then announces that he did manage to find a competitor for Ryan, although he had to pull a few strings. One of the perks of being TPA and EPWA champ. Unfortunately for Ryan, however, this man has no intention of fighting a ‘no-DQ’ match, whatever horrors that even entails, and so the stipulation had to be dropped. Ryan looks pissed, but his anger only grows as his competitor for the night shows himself behind Achiu...</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="Qsl992S.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Qsl992S.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> ...Paul Jones!</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> A Gulf Athletic Club, the biggest promotion in the TPA, main eventer, Jones held the TPA title for nearly a year in 1925, and held GAC’s Texas Heavyweight Title for a year and a half in 1932-33, making 10 defenses before losing it to Glen Wade. His fear was correctly placed, it seems, as when the two finally lock up Jones slams Ryan to the ground and viciously keeps him there for several minutes. Ryan gets fed up and attempts to escape the ring, but Jones catches him and drags him back in the center, applying a Toehold for another few minutes before he’s forced to give it up. Ryan manages to crawl out of the ring while Jones recovers, fumbling around underneath the ring for a minute before retrieving his signature metal pipe. He brings it back into the ring, but the referee sees it and while they argue Jones comes in to nail a vicious Back Body Drop on the distracted Ryan and then absolutely destroy him with a vicious Full Nelson Suplex, following up with a lightning quick Snap-German Suplex for the quick pinfall, winning his debut match in EPWA against a former title contender Ryan.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: Paul Jones via pinfall</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="NepfelE.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NepfelE.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="X4Po6l2.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/X4Po6l2.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">Charro Aguayo hits the ring in preparation for his next match, against an unknown opponent. Aguayo takes advantage of the situation, of course, and whips Londos into the corner, nailing him with a mean Corner Dropkick while the bell is still being rung.</span></p><p> <img alt="2LmoMRG.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/2LmoMRG.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="X4Po6l2.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/X4Po6l2.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong><span style="font-size:18px;">VS.</span></strong> <img alt="PVrFMli.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/PVrFMli.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Semi-Main Event:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> Charro Aguayo vs. Jim Londos</span></strong></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">Aguayo looks to press his advantage, nailing Londos with several more dropkicks and finally a standing kick to the back of the head, before setting up his Corner Dropkick once again and nailing the super star. Londos, who has been out of action for almost a month on a kayfabe vacation, seems to be rusty as all hell, with glazed over eyes as a screaming Charro Aguayo attempts an early pinfall following a brutal beat down. Londos kicks out at two and a half, however, and a visibly terrified Aguayo picks up Londos for more offense, only to have the slightly larger man dodge his next drop kick and with remarkable fluidity hit the mat, sinking in his devasting Arm Bar. Aguayo screams in pain for several minutes but it looks like Londos went for the move too early as Aguayo refuses to tap. Londos transitions into his crowd-pleasing Aeroplane Spin, launching Aguayo across the ring before dashing over and applying another brutal submission in the Boston Crab. Aguayo struggles for several minutes as Londos drags him back to the center of the ring several times. Finally, Londos pulls Aguayo through the crab and up into the air to deliver a powerbomb and earn an extremely close near fall. Aguayo lies on the mat convulsing while Londos recovers, and once the all-star has, he nails Aguayo with a trio of German Suplexes, a move Londos is not known to use but is an EPWA staple, to get another near fall. Londos decides to return to his submission plans, grinding Aguayo into the mat with another Boston Crab for another two or three minutes. At this point Aguayo is on the edge of unconsciousness, but to the roaring disapproval of the crowd refuses to tap, even after Londos delivers a vicious Body Slam and transitions back into the super-powerful Armbar, wrenching at Aguayo’s shoulder. Londos finally releases his opponent, leaving him in a heap on the floor and signaling to the crowd that his ultimate submission move, the Japanese sleeper, is coming. The crowd explodes with anticipation, but Aguayo notices and manages to flail himself out of the ring as Londos show boats. The crowd boos as Londos shakes his head at the downed Aguayo, who is gasping for air and struggling to pull himself up on the outside. Londos, rather than win by count out as the referee nears ten, slides out of the ring to punish Aguayo, to the fans’ approval. As Londos pulls Aguayo’s body up from the floor, the luchador shows his craftiness and manages to hit a desperate low blow out of the ref’s eyeshot. Londos momentarily falls to the floor, and Aguayo, stumbling around half-conscious, wastes no time in reaching under the ring for some rope. The crowd, Londos, and the ref, are too slow to realize immediately what Aguayo is doing as he ties Londos to the outside barricade, slaps him in the face, then slowly stumbles back into the ring as the ref’s count reaches ten and Jim Londos, appearing for the first time ever in EPWA, loses to Charro Aguayo to the crowd’s intense disapproval.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: Charro Aguayo via count out</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="NepfelE.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NepfelE.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="2ZTt6RA.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/2ZTt6RA.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="8rSIBf9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8rSIBf9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="ofoviKx.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ofoviKx.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>VS.</strong></span> <img alt="GksVKil.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/GksVKil.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Main Event: EPWA El Paso City Championship/TPA Southern Heavyweight Championship Bout:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> Chino Achiu © vs. Ed ‘The Strangler’ Lewis</span></strong></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">After the crowd has booed a shit-grinning but absolutely torn apart Charro Aguayo to the back and applauded as an uninjured Jim Londos is freed and walked stoically behind the curtain, they settle in for the main event: Chino Achiu’s 4th defense of the EPWA title, and 7th defense of the TPA strap. The crowd is behind the fan-favourite champ as always, but the added specter of Lewis taking both titles back to New York to be retired or waste away in the midcard bumps up the anticipation for this match for the future of EPWA. When both men have finally made their way to the ring, a hush falls over the crowd as both titles are removed from Achiu’s waste and held up, signifying the contest is for the championships, and the bell is rung. Lewis towers a full two feet above the champ, but as the two lock up to start the match Achiu shows his technical acumen by forcing Lewis to the ground and grinding into his midsection. The match stays at the slower pace for several minutes as Achiu rarely gives Lewis any time for offense, keeping him face first on the mat and finally looking for some serious damage or even an early submission with the Armbar. Lewis screams for about half a minute before he manages to struggle over to the ropes and free himself, finally, from Achiu’s grasp. After the two take a moment and recover, Lewis goes for the attack and speeds the pace up by managing to hit a nasty Body Slam that he follows up with a pair of suplexes, and finally his signature Full Body Press to earn a two count. Achiu rolls out of the pinfall and, getting his wits about him, dropkicks the kneeling Lewis from behind while he is shocked at the kick out. Achiu follows the offense up with a second attempt of the Armbar on the downed Lewis, wrenching on his right arm for a few more minutes before pulling Lewis to his feet and delivering a second Drop Kick. Rather than go for the pin, however, Achiu pulls Lewis up once again to hit the much larger man with an impressive German Suplex, immediately transitioning into the Headlock Sleeper, a move made famous in part by Lewis himself and used by several members of the EPWA roster, screaming as he tugs at Lewis’ neck, looking to pass him out or force a tap. Lewis refuses to tap, however, and crashes face first onto the mat as he slowly loses consciousness. Achiu, and the crowd, think that the match is his as the ref looks ready to call for the stoppage, but Lewis comes alive, not only powering out of the move but actually managing to stand up while Achiu is still applying the move and slam him on his back. As Achiu riles in pain, Lewis takes a minute to catch his breath, before grabbing ahold of the double-champion and Body Slamming him repeatedly. Lewis keeps the pressure on by crash-landing on top of Achiu with a brutal Standing Body Press, then picking his much smaller opponent up to deliver his Full Body Press a second and then third time for a near-fall. This time, however, Lewis doesn’t let his shock get the better of him and returns to Achiu to deliver more offense. The champ was still ready however, using Lewis’s momentum against him to send him crashing onto the mat into the waiting arms of Achiu, who slaps on the Armbar yet again for a few more minutes of yanking and stretching. Achiu releases the larger man, who clutches his visibly damaged arm while Achiu gears up for a Dropkick, which he hits. Another two Dropkicks later, and it seems Achiu is ready to attempt the pinfall. Achiu hits Lewis with a German suplex for good measure, but only earns a two-and-a-half count as the larger man kicks out to the crowd’s chagrin. Achiu fires up, and, muscles bursting, slowly lifts Lewis up for a second German Suplex, and then a third, with a perfectly executed bridge; but alas the big man still kicks out a hair before three. The crowd screaming for Achiu to win, he gasps for air and pumps himself up, as he once again reaches around Lewis and, trembling under the strain, delivers his finishing Release German Suplex. Achiu can barely crawl over to the twitching Lewis and lay his hand across his chest, but when does the referee counts to three and the crowd explodes as Lewis doesn’t move a muscle.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: Chino Achiu via pinfall. He requests a mic, and after minutes of deafening cheers, he keeps it short and sweet: he is the best in EPWA, nay, all of Texas, nay the whole world! He challenges any and all comers to go ahead and try him; he will defeat any man who stands in his way of either of these championships. Hollis shows his ring rust, however, and he is out-grappled minutes into the match and put through de la Torre’s lacking yet surprisingly effective submission game, which included mostly chin locks, arm bars, toe holds, and finally a sloppy Boston crab. Hollis struggles to get out of the move, but once he does, he takes the fight to de la Torre and delivers a vicious European uppercut, causing de la Torre to stumble back. Hollis follows up with a Body Slam, recovering and then pulling de la Torre onto his feet to receive a signature Palm Strike, seemingly stunning his opponent. Seizing his opportunity, Hollis pushes through his exhaustion and to the crowd’s boos hits his Northern Lights suplex finisher on the younger man. The crowd explodes, however, when de la Torre is just barely able to get his arm up before three, almost as shocked as Hollis himself. His arsenal exhausted, Hollis can’t do much once the two recover and de la Torre manages to nail his Back Body Drop, then with lightning speed climb in the corner to jump off and deliver his First-Rope Leaping Senton, a move no one in EPWA has kicked out of. And tonight, Hollis joins the likes of Gorilla Poggi in men who have fallen to the upset king, de la Torre.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: Luis de la Torre via pinfall</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="CVCijCy.jpg?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/CVCijCy.jpg?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="oD7imE0.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/oD7imE0.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="zcS39tn.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/zcS39tn.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>VS.</strong></span> <img alt="sMN8VCa.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sMN8VCa.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="AzItB9o.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/AzItB9o.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Second Bout:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> The Dogs vs. Walter Stratton & Dory Delton</span></strong></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">Everyone knows the Dogs are on an absolute tear, winning a tag team match at every EPWA show since ‘Catch IV,’ most recently beating Swede Larson & Dory Delton last week. Delton is back with a new partner, however, in Walter Stratton, and looks to finally put an end to the Dogs’ streak. Stratton begins with McGuire, who usually starts off these tag matches, and the two grapple for almost five minutes before, unlike almost a month ago at ‘The Beginning’ where the two wrestled to a virtual stalemate, McGuire is able to get the upperhand and lock Stratton in the Hammerlock Hold. Delton screams for his partner to reach the ropes, and after four minutes and being dragged three times back into the center of the ring, Stratton finally does, and an exhausted McGuire collapses to the ring while Stratton screams in pain and clutches his arm. Finally, both men make it to their partners, who start the match fresh. Once again, the Bulldog proves to be too powerful for Delton, who gets caught in a series of suplexes after a somewhat intense exchange, and finally takes the brutal Winglock Suplex to lose the match.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winners: The Dogs via pinfall on Dory Delton from The Bulldog</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="p0ngvUc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/p0ngvUc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="tLYZ6jz.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tLYZ6jz.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">W/ </span></strong><img alt="2ZTt6RA.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/2ZTt6RA.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="8rSIBf9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8rSIBf9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="ofoviKx.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ofoviKx.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong><span style="font-size:14px;"> VS. </span></strong><img alt="wTuyhhb.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/wTuyhhb.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong><span style="font-size:14px;"> W/ </span></strong><img alt="Wmb9PAU.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Wmb9PAU.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Third Bout:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> Cyclone Mackey w/ Chino Achiu vs. ‘Kommandant’ Franz Wolff w/ Ray Ryan</span></strong></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">This match is the first of two on the card set up by last week’s semi-main event tag match between all for competitors, a match that along with these two serves to set up a special match at ‘EPWA Big Time Catch I:’ Cyclone Mackey vs. Ray Ryan in a no-Disqualification match, the first of its kind in EPWA. Before he takes on Ryan on Saturday, however, Mackey faces the deplorable Wolff, a man who double-champion Chino Achiu attempted to oust from EPWA at ‘Weekly Catch V.’ Achiu accompanies Mackey to the ring, as does Ryan accompany Wolff. The four stare off in a replay of last week before Achiu and Ryan step down onto the floor, awaiting their match up next, and the bell is rung. Wolff attempts to take the match to the mat, but Mackey is too fired up to grapple and slaps the N*zi, initiating a striking contest that Mackey wins when he whips a stunned Wolff into the ropes and delivers a clothesline. Mackey presses his offense for a few minutes, dropping Wolff all around the ring, and when he finally takes a breather, the pain in his opponent’s eyes is obvious. Ryan proves why he was here by fishing under the ring and attempting to give Wolff a pair of brass knuckles. Achiu sees what’s going on, however, and so he alerts the ref. While Wolff argues, Mackey takes advantage and suplexes Wolff, attempting a pin. Wolff shows his resilience and kicks out, and while Mackey, Achiu, and the crowd react, Ryan successfully slides Wolff the brass knuckles. Standing back up, Ryan nails Mackey in the stomach with the knuckles, sliding them into his pocket. Achiu sees something is wrong, however, when Mackey crumples to the ground and so he physically interferes with the referee’s count, a move which earns him an earful from official Harry Savage. The distraction gives Mackey enough time to recover though, and he is able to roll up the infuriated Wolff and earn a pinfall as Achiu celebrates and Ryan protests on the outside.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: Cyclone Mackey via pinfall</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="p0ngvUc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/p0ngvUc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="2ZTt6RA.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/2ZTt6RA.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="8rSIBf9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8rSIBf9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="ofoviKx.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ofoviKx.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">W/ </span></strong><img alt="tLYZ6jz.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tLYZ6jz.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong><span style="font-size:14px;"> VS. </span></strong><img alt="Wmb9PAU.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Wmb9PAU.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong><span style="font-size:14px;"> W/ </span></strong><img alt="wTuyhhb.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/wTuyhhb.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Semi-Main Event: EPWA El Paso City Championship/TPA Southern Heavyweight Championship Bout:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> Chino Achiu © w/ Cyclone Mackey vs. Ray Ryan w/ ‘Kommandant’ Franz Wolff</span></strong></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">After the crowd settles down and Mackey’s hand raised, the Chino Achiu and Ray Ryan enter the ring for their match, a bout Achiu claims will be similar to his match with Wolff, that is, ‘a lesson to a cheatin’ son-of-a-gun.’ Ryan scored a pinfall over Achiu in a the tag match last week, and with the added drama of the previous match Ryan comes in red hot, while Achiu remains cool. The difference in temperament in shown as Achiu traps Ryan in several holds in the initial stages of the match, using Ryan’s anger and aggressiveness against him. After Achiu transitions his grappling advantage into a shockingly early Release-German suplex for a near fall, Wolff becomes visibly worried on the outside and begins fishing around under the ring. Achiu is picking up the weakened Ryan up for another move in the ring, and so doesn’t see Wolff brandish Ryan’s signature metal pipe, an instrument he used to knock three of Cyclone Mackey’s teeth out with at ‘The Beginning.’ Achiu lands the move, but Ryan is just cognizant enough to stash away the pipe Wolff slides to him as Achiu recovers. Achiu pulls Ryan up one more time, but as he does Wolff jumps up on the outside of the ring, feigning that he’s going to interfere and distracting the referee long enough for Ryan to whack Achiu upside the head with his pipe. The crowd chants angrily at Cyclone Mackey, who has not interfered, seemingly unaware of the shenanigans, as the ref returns, and Ryan covers Achiu. Mackey watches, utterly torn, as a victory for Ryan would make their match at ‘Big Time,’ already signed, for the titles, a welcoming prospect. After the two count, however, Mackey’s loyalty is too strong and he dives in to break up the fall, just as Achiu did for him. Although the ref yells at him, Mackey pushes past and jumps out of the ring to chase Wolff all the way to the back, throwing chairs at the man he just beat and leaving Achiu in the ring, alone. Ryan goes for another pin, but Achiu comes alive and kicks out. Achiu, wide-eyed, red in the face, and veins bursting from his neck, slaps Ryan so hard he falls to the ground before picking him up to deliver a vicious drop kick that sends him bouncing against the ropes and back into Achiu’s waiting arms, leading to a second Release-German and the victory for Achiu, who collapses in pain and exhaustion following his victory.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: Chino Achiu via pinfall. Mackey appears at the entrance however, sprinting to the ring. Ryan retreats momentarily, allowing Achiu to get back onto his feet, but Wolff wasn’t far behind Mackey and him and Ryan reenter the ring, leading to a brawl between all four men.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="2LmoMRG.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/2LmoMRG.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">As the brawl continues in the ring, a fifth man appears at the curtain, a man not seen in EPWA since ‘Weekly Catch V,’ losing to Otis Clingman...</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="X4Po6l2.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/X4Po6l2.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> ...Charro Aguayo!! Charro hits the ring and nails Wolff and Ryan, who had the upper hand in the ring, to the audience’s shock and confusion. After kicking the heels out of the ring, Achiu and Mackey cautiously approach Aguayo, who sticks out his hand. Achiu nervously takes it, and it turns out his mistrust was well placed as Charro whips him into the ropes and hits him with a Drop Kick, a move used heavily by both men. Aguayo then whips Mackey and Achiu into the corner and performs his Corner Drop Kick on both to send them into a daze outside the ring. Aguayo grabs the mic to explain his actions. He was given time off, he explains, following his loss to and subsequent beat down of Otis Clingman at ‘Catch V,’ but Aguayo challenges the crowd to look at his recent vintage: he has only lost Chino Achiu and Otis Clingman in the past two months. So, he has decided to really gain some momentum this Saturday at ‘Big Time Catch I;’ an open-challenge has been issued to fight Aguayo at the event, and any wrestler can talk to John McIntosh in the back to sign up. Otis Clingman looks determined as all hell as he walks to the ring, but Lewis makes the crowd wait several minutes before finally appearing and sarcastically waving at the crowd. Lewis stand a half foot taller than Clingman, and maybe 50 lbs. heavier, but Clingman takes control at the bell as he manages to put Lewis in the Toehold remarkably soon, wrenching at the larger man’s right foot before Lewis finally kicks Clingman off of him, sending him staggering into the ropes and bouncing back into Lewis, who delivers the Full Body Press upon Clingman’s return. Lewis keeps his offense rolling, but he seems to be considerably slowed down by his right foot. After a few suplexes and tackles, Lewis, sweating, picks Clingman up for another Full Body Press and attempts the pinfall. Clingman, to the crowd’s appreciation, kicks out at two and a half, writhing around to get away from a stunned Lewis. Lewis picks Clingman up to throw him bouncing off the ropes, but as Lewis attempts a shoulder tackle Clingman manages to dodge, and, slapping his head, returns to Lewis and hits him with a delayed suplex, perhaps accidentally as the exhausted Clingman is about to burst pulling off the move. The crowd is roaring for a Clingman comeback, and once Lewis is up, he delivers a vicious heel kick, a move he hasn’t been seen using before. Lewis doesn’t seem too damaged, but Clingman is able to dodge most of his offense for the next few minutes, delivering precise kicks and tripping Lewis when the time is right. Lewis gets frustrated at chasing the smaller man around, so he slides out of the ring, appearing to forfeit the match out of frustration. Clingman is furious, and so gives chase, but it was obviously a ruse and Lewis snatches Clingman to deliver another Full Body Press on the outside. Clingman screams as the crowd boos and Lewis drags him back to the ring, where he stumbles around, exhausted, before finally delivering a picture-perfect Body Slam, and pinning Otis Clingman to earn a titles shot at Chino Achiu on Saturday.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: Ed ‘The Strangler’ Lewis via pinfall. Despite all the ring hands attempting to remove him, Lewis grabs a microphone, and says that this a sneak preview of Saturday for Chino Achiu; Lewis is gonna take this stupid El Paso title and more importantly this stupid Texan title back to New York where they can be fought over in pre-show matches. Nothing that couldn’t be helped. Dempsey could feel their fortunes beginning to change, and he had a while to go before he would get too sheepish to keep pumping EPWA full of money. It was what was necessary, he thought, to enter the ‘big leagues.’ Right now, they were 44th in the world, and only the sixth promotion in the Texas Promoter’s Alliance, which only included nine companies.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> They were moving fast, however, and the addition of stars like Ed Lewis, while not full-time, would certainly boost their profile, something they could use ahead of ‘Big Time Catch.’ The problem was most of Dempsey’s stars were being used in promotion’s bigger than his; he needed to become the premier location for people to see workers like Hugh Nichols, Walter Achiu, Charro Aguayo, Otis Clingman, etc. Those wrestlers appearing next to national stars like Lewis would only raise the legitimacy of EPWA.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> So, for the foreseeable future, Dempsey planned to bank roll the company. </span></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46531" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="IywDXkS.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IywDXkS.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> <strong><span style="font-size:14px;">El Paso Wrestling Association presents:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></strong><strong><span style="font-size:18px;">EPWA Weekly Catch VIII</span></strong></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">Thursday, Week 2, February 1934</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> Sled Allen’s Auditorium</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Main Event: EPWA El Paso City Championship/TPA Southern Heavyweight Championship No1 Contendership Bout:</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> Otis Clingman vs. Ed ‘The Strangler’ Lewis</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Semi-Main Event: EPWA El Paso City Championship/TPA Southern Heavyweight Championship Bout:</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> Chino Achiu © vs. Ray Ryan</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Third Bout:</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> Cyclone Mackey vs. ‘Kommandant’ Franz Wolff</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong> Second Bout:</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> The Dogs vs. Walter Stratton & Dory Delton</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong> Opening Bout:</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> The returning Ken Hollis vs. Luis de la Torre</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Pre-show Bout:</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> Rey Malvado vs. Doug Marcel</span></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote>

Apparently, Curley was interested in a talent trade, of all things.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> As it turns out, Curley was most interested in two members of the roster: Walter Achiu, better known as Chino Achiu in the EPWA, and Frank Wolf, known as ‘Kommandant’ Franz Wolff in EPWA under a controversial N*zi gimmick. Curley thought Achiu had real promise as a babyface all-star, obviously shown by his double champion status, and he wanted a chance to get a closer look at Wolf, whose ability to get the disgusting gimmick over showed his acting skills and ability to draw crazy heat.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> Curley was willing to pay cash, and lots of it, but McIntosh wanted something different, and he knew Dempsey would be irate if he let Curley take two of their talents for just a monetary compensation. He says that one of the competitors in the main event for the No1 Contendership is yet to be determined, but he has an idea. Although both men in the next match have lost repeatedly since the start of the year, they both had victories at last week’s ‘Weekly Catch VI.’ So, McIntosh reasons, the winner of the next match will face his already determined competitor in the main event for a chance at the No1 Contendership next week. The match is extremely back-and-forth, with both men hitting multiple slams and takedowns after the initial lock-up. After several minutes, both men collapse to their corners, sweating and panting. The crowd goes wild as they struggle to their feet, and Joe attempts to force Harper into a Combination Bar and Toe hold, but Harper manages to reverse the attempt into his German suplex, an EPWA staple, and sink in the Headlock Sleeper, wrenching at Joe’s head for a solid minute before the referee decides Joe is in no state to continue. Dory Delton and Swede Larson are the newest team to go up against the undefeated Dogs; the last time either man faced their opponents it was Swede Larson and Walter Stratton losing at ‘The Beginning,’ in the first match to feature the ‘Dogs’ moniker. To begin the match Delton squares up against Mike McGuire, known to be a mat technician. Delton shows the crowd that his technical acumen is nothing to sneeze at, causing the attendees to fire up and really get behind the baby face before McGuire ends the grappling with a powerful Body Slam and wastes no time forcing Delton into the Full Nelson Hold. Although the match is only five or six minutes in, Delton seems close to tapping and so Larson runs into the ring to break up the submission attempt, but, alas, the Bulldog sees it coming and runs in to send Larson crashing to the mat with a clothesline. The Bulldog then shows off some incredible strength, throwing Larson over the top rope and sending him crashing to the floor. McGuire lets go of the hold and tags in the Bulldog, who runs in to hit Delton with three brutal German Suplexes in a row before dragging Delton’s lifeless body up from the mat and nailing the brutal Winglock Suplex for a pinfall, finishing the match before Larson could even legally get in the ring.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winners: The Dogs via pinfall on Dory Delton from the Bulldog.</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="p0ngvUc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/p0ngvUc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="2ZTt6RA.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/2ZTt6RA.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="8rSIBf9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8rSIBf9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="ofoviKx.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ofoviKx.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="tLYZ6jz.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tLYZ6jz.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">After EPWA El Paso City/TPA Southern Heavyweight Champion Chino Achiu and his tag partner for the night Cyclone Mackey have made their way to the ring for the next match, Achiu takes to the mic and after the crowd stops their cheering, taunts Ray Ryan, asking him who his partner is. Ryan appears at the top of the entrance ramp, with a microphone in his own hand. He laughs at Achiu, telling him that patience is a virtue: his partner is right behind him and raring to go! The crowd murmurs with anticipation as Ryan motions to behind the curtain and Achiu and Mackey squint their eyes to focus on the entrance. Suddenly, someone slides out from underneath the ring, sneaking up behind Achiu and Mackey and delivering a double low blow to the both of them. Wolff starts opposite him, a reflection of Achiu’s championships defense against Wolff two weeks ago at ‘Catch V.’ Wolff easily powers the damaged Achiu to the mat, throwing him in several holds before finally settling on his signature Abdominal Stretch. Achiu screams in pain as Wolff wrenches at his arm and grinds his elbow into the champ’s midsection. Achiu refuses to tap, even after several minutes, and finally a frustrated Wolff lets go to tag in Ryan. Achiu, in another tremendous show of fighting spirit, leaps towards Mackey’s outstretched hand to tag in his partner. Mackey, still a little slow from the low-blow he suffered, manages to get the upper hand initially on Ray Ryan, hitting the slightly larger man with several slams and drops before eventually hitting the EPWA staple the German Suplex and going for the pin. Ryan, as it turns out, was playing a little bit of possum after taking the German Suplex and when Mackey goes to cover him, he immediately uses Mackey’s momentum against him and rolls him into a schoolboy, which Mackey is barely able to escape before the three count. Shaken up, Mackey returns to Achiu and tags the champ in to face Mackey’s current rival. The two lock up, but soon the match becomes a slug fest as the two slap each other, kick each other, run the ropes to hit clotheslines, and both accomplish a few slams, but neither man goes for a pinfall. In the next exchange, Achiu manages to nail his dropkick, which he follows up with his own German Suplex. As Achiu goes in for the pin, Wolff realizes that him and Ryan may be about to lose and so slides closer to the action on the outside, spitting in Achiu’s eyes. The double champ staggers back, trying to clean his eyes out and cursing, and as the referee yells at Wolff, Ryan sees his opportunity and nails Achiu with another low blow. He then nails his rules-breaking ‘Right Hook,’ a punch right to Achiu’s jaw, and rolls up the champ for a shocking pinfall victory.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winners: Ray Ryan and ‘Kommandant’ Franz Wolff via pinfall on Chino Achiu from Ray Ryan following a low blow and a blatant punch.</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong> </strong></span><img alt="P1yEvBo.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/P1yEvBo.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="2ZTt6RA.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/2ZTt6RA.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="8rSIBf9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8rSIBf9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="ofoviKx.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ofoviKx.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="tLYZ6jz.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tLYZ6jz.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">As Mackey rushes into the ring to help Achiu, Wolff and Ryan scurry away to the crowd’s deafening boos, laughing. After the crowd chants for him for a few minutes, Achiu finally shows some life and grabs a mic. Pissed off, Achiu says that he no longer supports EPWA management’s position on the ‘no-DQ’ match, as those bastards need to pay. In fact, he says, he’ll go as far as to refuse to compete at ‘Big Time Catch I’ if Cyclone Mackey is not granted his ‘no-DQ’ match against Ray Ryan at that show! With the crowd roaring for the fiery champ, he throws the mic onto the floor and him and a defiant Cyclone Mackey walk out of the ring and to the back, leaving EPWA in an awkward position in regard to ‘Big Time Catch.’</span></p><p> <img alt="P1yEvBo.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/P1yEvBo.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="DZyaBmM.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/DZyaBmM.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">VS.</span></strong> <span style="font-size:36px;">???</span></p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Main Event:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> EPWA El Paso City Championship/TPA Southern Heavyweight Championship No1 Contendership Qualifying Bout:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> Paul Harper vs. To-be-determined</span></strong></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">Harper makes his way to the ring first, where he awaits his competition. Although his singles match record sits at 2-4, Harper is still pretty over with the crowd, especially after his victory over Yaqui Joe earlier in the night. Harper is stuck waiting in the ring for several minutes before the crowd starts chanting for his competitor to show himself. Finally, when it seems like Harper’s competitor will never show his face, the lights of the auditorium flicker and go dark for a few seconds, before turning back on and revealing a hulking man in a hooded robe standing in the center of the ring. The crowd is absolutely silent before the man sheds his robe and the crowd explodes in anger at the reveal of Harper’s opponent...</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="GksVKil.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/GksVKil.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> Ed ‘The Strangler’ Lewis! Lewis, a long-time main eventer in NWA New York City and the Midwest Wrestling Association, takes a few minutes to soak in the crowd’s hatred, laughing, before moving to his corner and awaiting the bell. As the match begins, Harper seems nervous in the face of the much larger Lewis, a bigger man than Gorilla Poggi, who Harper beat last week, and a man with far more experience and technical acumen than Poggi. After a minute of sizing each other up, the two men slowly approach each other for the initial lock up. After they finally make contact, the two men grapple for several minutes before Lewis gets the upper hand with a Full Body Press. Lewis presses his advantage with several minutes of offense before attempting the first pinfall of the match off a second Full Body Press and coming up short. As Lewis catches his breath, Harper manages to pull himself to his feet and dodge a charging Lewis before bouncing off the ropes and knocking the big man down with a powerful clothesline. The crowd roars for Harper as he pulls Lewis up for a second clothesline, then manipulates Lewis’ body into the Boston Crab, pulling Lewis into an incredibly high-angle and screaming as the sweat drips off his face. Lewis struggles for several minutes, dragging Harper closer and closer to the ropes before the former TPA champ turns it around by dragging Lewis back into the center, the veins practically popping out of his skin as he struggles to maintain the hold. Lewis tries a different approach, lifting himself off the ground and flexing his legs to try and power out. Harper slowly loses his grasp before Lewis finally powers out and sends Harper crashing to the ground, exhausted. Lewis takes another few minutes to recover as Harper lays completely still on the other side of the ring. Finally, Lewis stumbles over to Harper and lays in his brutal version of the Headlock Sleeper, the move that gave him his nickname, and the same move Harper used to beat Joe earlier in the night, almost completely enveloping Harper’s head in his meaty arms. Harper shows almost no fight, exhausted, and so for the second time in one night referee Joe ‘Bodyslam’ Boyd calls for the bell after determining Harper ‘unable to continue.’</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: Ed ‘The Strangler’ Lewis via referee stoppage</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="NepfelE.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NepfelE.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">After the match, Lewis once again soaks up the crowd’s boos, as they know he is only two victories away from becoming their new double-champion. Lewis looks unsatisfied with the crowd’s performance, so he puts the boots to a downed Harper before lifting him up for a devastating Body Slam. With the crowd’s boos now at an acceptable level, Lewis nods to himself and, smiling, struts out of the Auditorium.</span></p><p> <img alt="2LmoMRG.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/2LmoMRG.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Show Rating:</span></strong></p><p> <img alt="2LmoMRG.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/2LmoMRG.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p>

I'm also going to take inspiration from a few other people here and include 'news posts,' from the in-universe 'Territorial Editorial on Wrestling,' to provide a clearer picture of the game world.

Granted, neither was his in-and-out-of-ring rival Walter Achiu, but Aguayo suspected that the double-champion would find his way into the show one way or another.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> Aguayo had lost in last week’s main event, putting him at an utterly middling 2-2 record in singles bouts since Dempsey took over the book. Put against Hugh Nichols 4-1 or Achiu’s 3-2, or even Ray Ryan’s 2-1 or Frank Wolff’s 3-1, it was easy to see who EPWA, or more bluntly, Dempsey, were keen on. The wins and losses mattered to the crowd, who completely bought into the legitimacy of the ‘sport’, and Aguayo new he would take a back seat, especially since it fit storyline; think of Hugh Nichols, who has been gone two weeks after being the champ and main eventing or semi-main eventing five shows in a row. Charro hadn’t accomplished anything near that in the previous month.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> So, he had to sit alone, all those miles away from the action, and the money. Still, he had some. Enough. He was doing it more and more, but he was numb to it. He loved his wife, and he would one day move back to her where they would live out their days in Mexico, far away from the sins of El Paso City.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="IywDXkS.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IywDXkS.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> <strong><span style="font-size:14px;">El Paso Wrestling Association presents:</span></strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="font-size:18px;">EPWA Weekly Catch VI</span></strong></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">Thursday, Week 4, January 1934</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> Sled Allen’s Auditorium</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> 1,400 attendees (sold-out)</span></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="sM5vd7J.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sM5vd7J.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">VS.</span></strong> <img alt="BVyTqMv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/BVyTqMv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Pre-Show Bout:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> Eddie Brock vs. Doug Marcel</span></strong></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">While the crowd filled the Auditorium, rookie Eddie Brock, last seen being defeated by Luis de la Torre at ‘Weekly Catch III,’ locked up with 5 year vet Doug Marcel, who was a victim of ‘Kommandant’ Franz Wolff at ‘Weekly Catch I’ and was defeated last week by the Dogs while teaming with Stanley Rogers. The two have a short, simple match that Marcel, despite being the face, dominates, before quickly crushing a comeback and pinning Brock with a German suplex, an EPWA staple.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: Doug Marcel via pinfall</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="6YwUe9Y.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/6YwUe9Y.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p> <img alt="A8kNkB5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/A8kNkB5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="sM5vd7J.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sM5vd7J.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="5g2sGAN.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/5g2sGAN.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">When most of the sold-out crowd has filled the building, Jack Dempsey and Joseph G. ‘Biz’ Kenney hit the ring with EPWA owner John McIntosh! The radio announcing duo proceed to interview McIntosh, asking him about the state of the championship scene. Current double EPWA El Paso City and TPA Southern Heavyweight champion Chino Achiu is not scheduled to be on this show, taking the week off, but the question of his next challenger is the big one. McIntosh answers the question by first announcing the next monthly ‘big event’! It will be known as ‘EPWA Big Time Catch I,’ the first in a series of higher-profile monthly events EPWA is planning. Chino Achiu’s titles challenger for that event will be determined in the next few weeks, McIntosh says, in a four-man tournament. The winner of tonight’s main event, Otis Clingman and Joe Parelli, will face the winner of next week’s main event, to be determined, at ‘Weekly Catch VIII,’ and the winner of that match will face Achiu at ‘Big Time Catch.’ The crowd goes wild for the upcoming competition, and Dempsey and ‘Biz’ Kenney seem pleased with his answer.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="2LmoMRG.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/2LmoMRG.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p> <img alt="1THY2q9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/1THY2q9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">VS.</span></strong> <img alt="zFJ3RSo.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/zFJ3RSo.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Opening Bout:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> Yaqui Joe vs. ‘King’ George Gastrovich</span></strong></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">To start the show proper, Yaqui Joe, who lost in the semi-main event of ‘EPWA The Beginning’ to Charro Aguayo, goes up against ‘King’ George Gastrovich, a man not seen for several months in EPWA. Another shorter match, a seemingly unconfident Joe wrestles a defensive match, dodging and countering Gastrovich’s moveset, but failing to truly deliver any powerful offense of his own. Finally, Joe catches Gastrovich and sinks in his Combination Bar and Toe Hold, forcing his less experienced opponent to tap.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: Yaqui Joe via submission</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="CVCijCy.jpg?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/CVCijCy.jpg?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="oD7imE0.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/oD7imE0.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="zcS39tn.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/zcS39tn.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>VS.</strong></span> <img alt="dF4UOhu.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/dF4UOhu.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="bNMMKRs.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/bNMMKRs.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Second Bout:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> The Dogs vs. Luis de la Torre & Tiger Miller</span></strong></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">Tiger Miller, who lost to the Bulldog over a month ago, teams up to get revenge with Luis de la Torre, who has victories over Gorilla Poggi and Eddie Brock, against the Bulldog and his new “official tag team partner” Mike “Pit Bull” McGuire, who are on a tag team tear, winning three straight matches since ‘Weekly Catch IV.’ The Bulldog and de la Torre start the match, two younger masked competitors on the rise in the company. They have an instantly explosive ten-minute back-and-forth, riling up the crowd and leaving them both exhausted by the end, simultaneously deciding to tag in their fresh partners. Tiger Miller, in a naïve move, initiates a grappling contest with McGuire, who immediately outclasses Miller, despite their similar age and experience. After several near falls, de la Torre gets nervous and attempts to tag himself in, but the Bulldog cuts across the ring to force de la Torre onto the floor and keep him busy while McGuire takes advantage of the distracted ref to finally score a pinfall, of course with a hand full of tights.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: The Dogs via pinfall on Tiger Miller from Mike ‘Pit Bull’ McGuire</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="CVCijCy.jpg?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/CVCijCy.jpg?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="fHT9lWd.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/fHT9lWd.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">VS.</span></strong> <img alt="DZyaBmM.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/DZyaBmM.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Third Bout:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> Gorilla Poggi vs. Paul Harper</span></strong></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">An interesting match-up here, with both sides of the ring desperate to prove themselves; Gorilla Poggi scored a shocking victory over would-be champion Chino Achiu at ‘Weekly Catch I,’ but went on to be eliminated via submission by Achiu in the battle royal Achiu won at ‘Catch III,’ and become the victim of an upset himself, being pinned by Luis de la Torre at ‘The Beginning.’ Harper, on the other hand, may have had a harder fall; you see, only just over a month ago he was TPA champion: he was defeated by Hugh Nichols at ‘Weekly Catch I.’ After his championship loss, he went on to lose to Charro Aguayo at ‘Catch III,’ then suffer devasting back-to-back losses to ‘Kommandant’ Franz Wolff at ‘Catch IV,’ and ‘The Beginning.’ Needless to say, both men are desperate for a victory, and it shows in the bout. The beginning strikes and grappling throws seem to have an extra edge, and when Poggi manages to nail a Body Slam, he slams Harper to the ground with all 265 lbs. and an extra oomph, immediately going for the pin for an incredibly close near fall. Poggi capitalizes on his momentum, throwing Harper around the ring for several minutes, but the resilient Harper refuses to submit. Slowing down from having to lift Harper over and over again, Poggi finally slips up and Harper strikes, transitioning a Body Slam attempt into a standard German suplex. Harper follows it up by applying his brutal Headlock Sleeper, and the already exhausted and dazed Poggi has no choice but to submit.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: Paul Harper via submission</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="CVCijCy.jpg?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/CVCijCy.jpg?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="Wmb9PAU.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Wmb9PAU.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">VS.</span></strong> <img alt="tLYZ6jz.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tLYZ6jz.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Semi-Main Event:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> Ray Ryan vs. Cyclone Mackey</span></strong></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">A rematch from ‘EPWA The Beginning,’ this match may not be ‘no-DQ’ like Cyclone Mackey wanted, but at least Mackey got Ryan alone again. The two lock up again, but Mackey doesn’t play any games with the larger man, whipping him into the ropes to deliver a powerful clothesline and knock him to the ground. Mackey keeps the momentum going, suplexing Ryan several times before tiring out and going for a pinfall. Ryan kicks out however, and when Mackey goes to try more offense, he gets caught with a sneaky low-blow out of the referee’s vision. Ryan goes straight for the pin, but Mackey shows some resiliency and kicks out at 2 and a half, shocking Ryan. The known cheater isn’t too phased however, and he drags Mackey out of the ring in an attempt to replicate their match at ‘The Beginning’ and do some nasty things to Mackey out of the ref’s vision. Although Mackey sees the foul play coming, he’s in no position to stop it and is only limp as he gets Power Bombed into the ring steps, then Irish whipped into the ring post, then finally rolled back into the ring and pinned.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: Ray Ryan via pinfall following illegal use of outside objects</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="p0ngvUc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/p0ngvUc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="Wmb9PAU.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Wmb9PAU.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="tLYZ6jz.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tLYZ6jz.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">After the match, Ryan decides that Mackey didn’t suffer enough, and goes back under the ring to grab the metal pipe he knocked Mackey’s teeth out with at ‘The Beginning.’ He returns to the ring to start beating the downed Mackey with the pipe, to a cacophony of boos. Ryan returns to underneath the ring, looking for more weapons.</span></p><p> <img alt="2LmoMRG.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/2LmoMRG.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="2ZTt6RA.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/2ZTt6RA.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="8rSIBf9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8rSIBf9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="ofoviKx.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ofoviKx.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">While Ryan scrounges under the ring, and Mackey lays dead in the middle, the crowd absolutely erupts as they see current double-champion Chino Achiu sprinting to the ring. Last week, Achiu vowed to put an end to all the cheating in EPWA, and even granted ‘Kommandant’ Franz Wolff a title shot, so as to teach him, and hopefully the entire cheating locker room, that the champ meant business. Achiu completely runs through a tired and distracted Ryan, dragging him back into the ring and hitting him with four consecutive, brutal German suplexes before nailing him with Achiu’s own release German, a move usually reserved for finishing off tough title contenders. By now, Cyclone Mackey has gotten to his feet, a little dazed, and its now Ryan who lays in a heap in the ring. Achiu takes to the ring, fired up. The crowd go wild as he yells at Ryan before asking Mackey if he feels satisfied with that match-up. Mackey and the crowd shake their heads and scream ‘no!’ Achiu laughs, and says that although he agrees with EPWA management on the issue of ‘no-DQ’ matches, (earning the champ some extremely rare boos from the crowd, but the champ plays it off) he wants to teach Ryan a lesson just like he did Wolff. Achiu doesn’t want to steal Mackey’s thunder, however, so he tells Ryan to find himself a tag team partner for next week, as it’ll be Cyclone Mackey teaming up with Chino Achiu against Ray Ryan and a yet-undisclosed partner. This time, Achiu says, he’ll be not only able to keep an eye on the match, he’ll be able to directly participate and prevent Ryan and his partner from turning the match in their favour by cheating. The crowd goes wild, anticipating next week’s tag team match, where they may finally see Ryan get some comeuppance in the center of the ring.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="NepfelE.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NepfelE.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="E2faBt4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/E2faBt4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">VS.</span></strong> <img alt="Qitlkxc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Qitlkxc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Main Event:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"> Otis Clingman vs. Joe Parelli</span></strong></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">The main event this week sees Otis Clingman, a man who has taken the backseat in EPWA for a few months but is known to be an incredibly gifted wrestler, and is the current ‘Pacific Coast Middleweight’ champion in Pacific Northwest Wrestling, go up against Joe Parelli, a man who has likewise taken more of a back seat in the recent past, but could easily string some victories together into an argument for a title shot, especially in this mini-tournament. Both men are eager to prove themselves as ‘true main-eventers,’ and the crowd recognizes their drive and gets pretty invested in the match. After locking up for several minutes in a virtual stalemate, the match becomes a strike-based battle before Parelli is finally able to knock Clingman to the ground with a Clothesline and sink in his Nelson Hold, cranking at Clingman’s neck. Clingman struggles for several minutes as the crowd chants for him, before finally managing a rope break. Although Parelli attempts to press his advantage, Clingman fires up and reverses an Irish Whip to send Parelli flying into the ropes and allow Clingman to hit his own clothesline. Pulling Parelli up, Clingman hits a standard Vertical Suplex, and the match enter the final stretch as both men, exhausted exchange power moves in an attempt to score the victory. Finally, Parelli gets impatient and goes for a low-blow, but the ring general Clingman dodges the move and uses Parelli’s momentum against him to sink in his signature Boston Crab submission. Parelli struggles for nearly four and a half minutes before Clingman, losing his strength and ability to maintain the hold, masterfully transitions into his devasting finishing submission the One-Legged Crabhold, which after only another half-minute earns him the submission victory.</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Winner: Otis Clingman via submission</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="dO2SmCQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/dO2SmCQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="E2faBt4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/E2faBt4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">After the match is over and his hand raised, Clingman takes to the mic. This is his second main event victory in EPWA in a row, he says, and he plans on going all the way to take Chino Achiu’s championships at ‘Big Time Catch I’ by defeating the winner of next weeks main event at ‘Weekly Catch VIII.’ Watch out Achiu, he says, there’s a new star on the rise. The crowd cheers for Clingman, and more importantly the prospect of seeing him across the ring from Chino Achiu at ‘Big Time Catch.’</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="NepfelE.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NepfelE.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Show Rating:</span></strong></p><p> <img alt="dO2SmCQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/dO2SmCQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p>
