    Golden Six Series Gifu

Infront of 1,527 people at Gifu Arena Night two of the G6S there was again a couple of matches on the undercard, the stand out of which was Kyuichi Matsumoto again beating young lion competition in Wataru Kikumoto (***). Golden Six Series Hamamatsu

Night three drew a sell out crowd at Hoshi Hall of 1,455. Black Iron Corps teamed up on the undercard with a win over Tavon Blake Jr and Yuki Horogoshi, Horogoshi looking particularly rusty (***1/2). Onto the tournament matches and we saw Hiroyasu Gakusha pick up his first win of the G6S over Takayuki 2000 (***1/2) Azumamaro Shimizu carried on unbeaten going to another time limit draw, this time with Mabuchi Furusawa (****). 2. Golden Six Series Preview

    6series2.jpeg

We take a look at the six participants in the first ever G6S, who will come out on top come the end of July?

    TAKAYUKI 2000

    Takayuki 2000.jpg

(3x World Heavyweight Champion, 1x Openweight Champion, 1 x World Tag Team Champion)

Takayuki 2000 qualified for the tournament via the voting round on the strength of his title history. In his three matches (all multi man) since his return to GCG Takayuki is unbeaten and will be hoping he can ride that momentum into the tournament. A man with a rich past in GCG would have to make him a pick for a lot of people to come out ontop of the first ever G6S, also the fact that any possible ties in terms of points being decided on title history will play massively in Takayukis favour.

    First Match: Vs Munemitsu Senmatsu

    MUNEMITSU SENMATSU

    Munemitsu Senmatsu.jpg

Munemitsu Senmatsu qualified via the qualification round seeing off Kyuichi Matsumoto and Fujio Narahashi. Senmatsu has quickly established himself as a menacing force in GCG reforming his infamous Senmatsu-gun on the golden canvas. Undefeated in singles action since his return Senmatsu is also set to make an appearence for Mid Atlantic Wrestling before the GS6 starts. Senmatsu has arguably more reason than most to become the first ever GS6 winner, a man with a point to prove is a dangerous thing

    First Match vs Takayuki 2000

     MATTHEW KEITH

    Matthew Keith.jpg

    (Current World Heavyweight Champion)

Matthew Keith qualified via the voting round with the highest number of votes. Since sensationally signing for GCG Keith has been on fire, most recently coming out victorious in the first ever SAISHO x GCG Main Event. As the World Heavyweight Champion Keith will surely have a target on his back, his opponents knowing any victory over him would surely mean a title shot somewhere down the line.

    First Match vs Mabuchi Furusawa

    MABUCHI FURUSAWA

    Mabuchi Furusawa.jpg

(GCG CEO, 2x Openweight Champion, 1x World Tag Team Champion)

Mabuchi Furusawa qualified via the voting round on the strength of his title history. Carrying the weight of being CEO into active competition is a unique challenge that Mabuchi Furusawa will have to tackle, many eyes will be specifically on him during this first G6S. Fursawa is yet to pick up a victory since his GCG return.

    First Match vs Matthew Keith

    HIROYASU GAKUSHA

    Hiroyasu Gakusha.jpg

(4x World Heavyweight Champion, 1x Openweight Champion, 1x World Tag Team Champion)

Hiroyasu Gakusha qualified via the voting round. Like Takayuki 2000, Gakushas title history will give him the advantage should he finish tied for points with anyone. A glittering career with GCG could be perfectly topped off with winning the first ever G6S, Gakusha is also undefeated since his return to GCG and is another man who will be hoping to carry momentum into the tournament.

    First Match vs Azumamaro Shimizu

    AZUMAMARO SHIMIZU

    Azumamaro Shimizu.jpg

    (Current Openweight Champion)

Azumamaro Shimizu qualified via the voting round. On paper Shimizu would possibly be considered the biggest underdog here though he already shocked people by being automatically voted in, one of those votes being via the public voting. As Openweight Champion he has so far racked up four title defences and has openly spoken about raising the profile of the title. Now the focal point of The Golden Dawn, Shimizu will be looking to shock some people in the GS6.

The Golden Six Series will run across June and July with the top two placed wrestlers facing off in the final, at the other end the wrestler in last place will be unable to compete in 2022's tournament. The opening night comes from The Niigata Prefecture Athletic Centre and will air live on our new broadcast partner Shogun TV

    SAISHO x GCG: Syndicate Review

In front of 4,225 at Yamanashi Athletic Stadium SAISHO and GCG put on a joint show that was well received with the Main Event being a clear stand out.  The best two matches of the night were the Main Event in which Matthew Keith picked up a win over Masa Kurata (****1/2) in 23:01. In the Semi Final new SAISHO signing Ko Minamino teamed with Black Iron Cops (who work for both companies) in a winning effort over Senmatsu-gun (Senmatsu, Mochin & Amano) (****). The rest of the card featured solid match ups between both companies including the opener of GCGs Morimasa Kato defeating SAISHOs Billy Robinson (***1/2) and Hurricane 2000 (Takayuki 2000 and Harumi Okazawaya) teaming up once more as they defeated the cross promotional team of Masked Stranger and Shiba Mizoguchi (***1/4)

From a GCG point of view the feeling was good, particularly having Amano and Mochin in a match that stood out and got great reviews, especially in Amanos case at just 23 years old.

    MORE breaking news in May

In what had already been a busy month for the Japanese scene shortly after SAISHOs joint show with GCG their CEO Mito Miwa announced the formation of the Japanese Wrestling Federation, its founder members being SAISHO, 5SSW and EXODUS2010. Speculation immediately began as to whether we would see womens wrestling in SAISHO or EXODUS as a result of this announcement. Along with the formation of the alliance which was Miwas brainchild, three new championships were made -  JWF Championship, JWF Tag Team Championships and JWF Womens Championship.

May continued to create talking points and be loaded with announcements. In the ever shifting professional wrestling landscape sometimes you have to be ready in the right place at the right time to pick up talents whom are let go from "bigger" companies, much in the same fashion that GCG picked up Matthew Keith previously. With the previously mentioned in mind a double header of news broke on the eve of the SAISHO x GCG show when in rather low key fashion GCG broke the news of the signing of Steven Parker.

Parker, 36, had been released by American giants SWF a few weeks previous, very good in ring he seemed like a perfect fit for Japan though in the scheme of things almost totally unknown in the country which may have explained the no frills announcement. Alongside this in the double header it was also announced that GCG had entered into a working relationship with a company whom Parker had notably history - MAW. Mid Atlantic Wrestling had recently had their ties with TCW cut and were probably a bit more open to discussions with others than they previously would have been, it was understood that there was a talent trading agreement in place and the first bit of business between the two was Steven Parker been made available to return to his former employers MAW for a string of appearances. Parker was also working for FCW in America.

Shortly before SAISHO x GCG: Syndicate the Main Event was announced, a non title match between Matthew Keith and Masa Kurata.

Elsewhere in Japan, so called "MegaStar" Yuta Isono whom there was much hype behind was finally picked up by a "named" company as EXODUS2010 got his signature.

  5. May 2021

Golden Canvas Grappling was still in a bit of a transitional phase, many things going on behind the scenes and discussions between the shareholders and CEO as to the direction of the company. A regular calendar had still not been settled on though June & July was to be set aside for The Golden Six Series. Feeling around the G6S was good, there was much excitement about it as it was something very different to anything else on offer elsewhere in the wrestling world.

It was late on a midweek night when Mabuchi Furusawa had put the phone down for the last time and the following announcement had been penned to be released the following day.....

    -------------------

    SAISHO psx.jpggcgLOGO.jpeg

Pro Wrestling SAISHO x Golden Canvas Grappling

Joint Show To Take Place May 22nd

Pro Wrestling SAISHO and Golden Canvas Grappling are pleased to announce a joint show with the two promotions will be held on May 22nd as a continuation of the working relationship between the two. The show which is to be titled "SAISHO x GCG: Syndicate" will bring together both companies rosters and create some unique and memorable match ups

SAISHO CEO Mito Miwa had the following to say "I am pleased to continue the good relationship between SAISHO and GCG with this show, the two rosters already have some crossover so the SAISHO fans will be sure to see some familiar faces, I hope to give everyone a great night of wrestling"

GCG CEO Mabuchi Furusawa added "SAISHO have been a great ally to GCG since the companies rebirth and holding a joint show really feels like a natural step. Id like to personally thank Mr Miwa and all his colleagues" Interestingly Furusawa would also go on to say.... "GCG have hopes to hold many shows like this going forward and with more than just one partner so please look forward to this"

    -------------------

The feeling overall with Mabuchi and his peers was good about this show and the partnership with SAISHO, though the temptation to try and pluck away Narahashi and Kita particularly was certainly there for some, it would be a move that would not be well received with SAISHO and at this stage GCG didn't really want to be making enemies.

The Greg Gauge saga that had engulfed the dirt sheets for the past weeks had come to a head in somewhat surprising fashion, Gauge signed for EILL in Mexico.... oh how GCG would have liked to reunite him with his brother

Special Golden Six Series Preview Tag

Takayuki 2000 & Azumamaro Shimizu def. Matthew Keith & Mabuchi Furusawa ****1/4

A solid card all around started with a strong opener that saw Frankie Perez's last match in Japan, mostly working for WLW in the country he had penned a deal with SWF marking his first "major" contract, he was defeated by Azumamaro Kita. The two Golden Six Series Semi Finals followed with Fujio Narahashi and Munemitsu Senmatsu progressing through to the final that night, which would turn out to be one of the two matches of the night, though these things are always up for personal interpretations.

Hiroyasu Gakusha gained some measure of revenge over the young Shuga Amano, however Gakusha's days of watching his back appeared to be far from over as his celebrations were marred by a chair attack by Lenny Mochin, Mochin helped Amano to the back and it would appear that Mochin would be the third member of the new look Senmatsu-gun.

The Ring Generals whom had been released by BHOTWG during the companies talent shake up debuted with a championship win, picking up the vacant World Tag Team Championships, interestingly Waldorf was also working with BCG and PWR whereas Statler was only working with WLW - meaning GCG was the only place the two were tagging together.

Munemitsu Senmatsu stamped his ticket to the Golden Six Series with a hard fought win over Fujio Narahashi and rounding off the night Azumamaro Shimizu continued his electric momentum by getting a pinfall over Mabuchi Furusawa to close out the night.

    -----------------------------------

    TEW banner.png

TEW.com can report today that we have learned of an intense bidding war commencing for Greg Gague whos TCW contract is running up, at the time of writing no less than FIVE companies are battling it out for his signature, the "big 3" of America - SWF, TCW and USPW are in the running as well as EILL in Mexico and BHOTWG in Japan. Gague looks to be in for a big payday as the companies involved tweak their offers to try and table the best deal.

Elsewhere MAW have experienced a rise in stature, interestingly this also coincided with TCW ending their agreement with MAW to send developmental workers.

  7. Mabuchi had the finalised card for Parade of Champions in his hand, he was worried that all the focus on The Golden Six Series had taken away from this event and that they hadn't produced a good enough card....

    Frankie Perez vs Azumamaro Kita

    --------------------------

He had deliberated very much over what to make the Main Event, he had most likely over thought it, he didn't want to ask his fathers opinion, not out of malice or any ill feeling but the man was supposed to be taking leave of rest. Gakusha and the others had quite happily agreed to leave such decisions up to him as CEO so Mabuchi after much thought went for the preview tag, the World Champion had to be in the main event. Elsewhere the Tag Team Championships that had been vacated when Kikuchi jumped ship to PGHW would be won, with a surprise team in the match that the public knew nothing about. Gakusha would take on Amano whom attacked him at the previous event, Amano no longer a young lion now he had joined Senmatsu-gun.

Frankie Perez after signing for SWF had approached him asking for a final match in Japan and for it to be billed as so, after looking over the roster of guys who werent already working Mabuchi picked out Azumamaro Kita as a fitting opponent, a SAISHO guy but someone who was well liked amongst GCG.

  9. April 2021

The announcement of The Golden Six Series was a big talking point in the following days and weeks, behind the scenes much was in the pipeline at GCG but they also had a show to run before the G6S was to begin. The end of April would see Parade of Champions as the stand alone show for the month, no tour shows had been booked owing to various other things going on, namely roster management.

Despite new ownership, huge buzz and fresh financial backing GCG still weren't free of losing guys. Frankie Perez whom had only just come in for a few shows was offered a fantastic deal by SWF which was accepted, Lion Genji was tempted away by BHOTWG early in the month despite their being a counter offer, and a competitive one at that, on the table from GCG, it was after this loss that the shareholders took the decision to start tying down more guys now that the finances were in a healthier place, the trick was picking the right people who didn't also work for companies GCG wanted to keep onside (most notably BCG) after a fairly lengthy discussion at GCG HQ between Mabuchi Furusawa, Hiroyasu Gakusha and Takayuki 2000 (Senmatsu largely stayed out of the day to day goings on) Kyuichi Matsumoto was the first to be offered a written deal, though not exclusive it pretty much tied him down for a period of time even if one of the bigger companies came calling. Matsumoto was the first, the second was then Morimasa Kato - some parties involved were less than convinced he was worth the commitment though Mabuchi particularly pushed for this, Kato had been a constant since the GCG relaunch. British wrestler Lenny Mochin was handed a written deal still enabling him to compete at home for CWW but also giving him a solid regular income, it also transpired a few days later that this deal convinced Mochin to move to Japan, as his CWW bookings were generally only one a month he still intended to honour them - Mochin moved to Tokyo.

When looking at other obvious names like Fujio Narahashi and Azumamaro Kita they kept running into the point of stepping on SAISHOs toes, even with just written deals as opposed to exclusive ones there was a worry as to upsetting SAISHO whom had been very good to GCG thus far.

The final name to be offered a more cast iron deal was Tavon Blake Jr, TBJ was one of Pete Halls last signings when he was still in a position of power and he had impressed upon coming in, TBJ was working for one other company back home in the states (GSW) and it was thought that he would tie up things there.

    -----------------------------------------------

In the wider wrestling world Nigel "Honest Frank" Harriet had opened Rocky Mountain Wrestling in Wyoming. The Canadian Wrestling Alliance were said to be in a worrying financial state that had really gotten bad over the last couple of months, the big American companies particularly waiting in the wings to scoop up CWA's many talents.

  10. Furusawa & The Tiger a story that had started about Hanshiro Furusawa and his attempts to redeem himself and bring back a fallen giant of Professional Wrestling had now shifted, still a Furusawa but Hanshiro taking a step back and his son Mabuchi taking a step forward, once againa Furusawa at the helm trying to steer Golden Canvas Grappling in the right direction and back to glory.

    ---------------------------------------------------

Mabuchi fiddled with the buttons on his jacket, he glanced out towards the small room where the press conference was about to take place. A table had been laid out with three seats, His Father would be present, despite Hanshiro Furusawa taking a step back due to his age he would still have a presence, as this was taking place about 10 minutes from his home he wanted to attend. The second seat the other side of Mabuchi was for Hiroyasu Gakusha, Gakusha had been the face of this takeover really and the main driving publicity force, but now was the time for Mabuchi to grow into the CEO role. Gakusha gave him a nod as he passed him to take his place at the table, followed by Hanshiro... Mabuchi followed the two men out and took his seat at the middle of the table.

Mabuchi gave the press a nod of acknowledgement as he took his seat, people were looking to Gakusha to speak and seemed quite shocked when Mabuchi cleared his throat "Thank you to everyone for coming here today" He shuffled the papers in front of him and began ....

    Quote

Golden Canvas Grappling are pleased to announce the details of a new showpiece event in the GCG calendar, and what we hope will go onto become a key event in both the Japanese Professional Wrestling scene and by extension the worlds scene.

The Golden Six Series will be a league format tournament featuring six wrestlers, five of which will be voted in, the sixth place will go to the winner of a qualification round. Each wrestler will face each other twice making a total of 10 rounds and then a final contested between the top two positions in the league, the winner of that final crowned the Golden Six Series Champion for that year. Matches up to the final with have a 20 minute time limit, with 2 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. The final will have no time limit.

    1. First Finalist

    2. Second Finalist

    6. Unable To Compete In Next Years Series

The wrestler finishing in 6th place will be unable to compete in the following years tournament. The aim of this tournament is to elevate GCG talent, we are keeping the participant list purposefully short so it is the best of the best that we have to offer, in a tournament of which you will not see the like anywhere else in Japan.

Moving onto the voting process mentioned, the first five spots will be decided by a round of voting, the voting panel will be the four shareholders in the company (Hiroyasu Gakusha, Takayuki 2000, Munemitsu Senmatsu and Hanshiro Furusawa) the CEO will also participate in the voting and finally a fan vote will be involved. Each voter has two votes, the shareholders and CEO will NOT be able to vote for themselves, additionally it has been decided that Hanshiro Furusawa will not be able to vote for Mabuchi Furusawa. The sixth spot will be given to the winner of a qualification round, this round will mostly be made up of wrestlers who received votes but not enough to make the initial five. In the event of tied voting priority will go to wrestlers with any title history in GCG, be that World Heavyweight, Tag Team or Openweight.

The Golden Six Series is set to take place over two months, the months of June and July. We are currently working on building the GCG calendar of events of which more details will be made available shortly.

With The Golden Six Series being roughly two months away please look out for details of the fan vote which will be open in a few weeks.

There were a few camera clicks as the three men rose from the table, Gakusha stayed longer to pose for some photos, Mabuchi bit back the annoyance at his vanity and followed his father off the stage, The Golden Six Series was in truth Hanshiros brainchild, one of the many things he wanted to get done during his time as CEO, Mabuchi had high hopes for his Fathers creation.

  11. There had been a period of quiet in the immediate fallout after The Tigers Den, Golden Canvas Grappling official media had been silent as the wider wrestling media unpacked the events of the night. Arguably the main talking point was GCG's acquisition of Matthew Keith.

Keith's Burning Hammer Of The Wrestling Gods contract had ran up in March 2021, that same month Keith had worked a run of shows for new company Pro Wrestling Revolution as a favour to his friend and PWR owner Tatsuya Toshitara, once those shows were done he was unemployed. There was no news out of BHOTWG as to why he wasn't offered a new deal, they had seen a lot of new faces over the last months and clearly were okay with losing Keith. PGHW and potentially BCG would both likely be in a financially sound enough position to make an offer but nothing was forthcoming at which point GCG swooped in. It was understood that Keith's deal was definitely one that allowed other potential employers to come and make an offer though from what details had leaked out Keith was expected to be with GCG for at least a year.

At the start of April a short press release was put together informing everyone that a press conference was imminent, there were still many questions as to GCG's future under the new regime and some of that, in part, may be answered soon. The press conference was expected to revolve around a new tournament that was rumoured to be a focal point of the GCG calendar going forwards.

  12. (Final Part)

5th Match - Munemitsu Senmatsu, Takayuki 2000 & Hiroyasu Gakusha vs Masashi Urogataya, Ryobe Uno & Morimasa Kato

As set up earlier in the night a six man was about to start - first out were Senmatsu, Gakusha and Takayuki to great responses. Then followed Urogataya, Uno and Kato, the three men coming out with "The Golden Dawn" displayed on the tron apparently revealing the name that the men will be operating under.

Senmatsu. Takayuki & Gakusha def. Urogataya, Uno & Kato ****

The victorious three men had their hands raised after the match, a very good match that upon watching it most would consider it at the very least a contender for best match since GCG rebirth. Then in a very fluid movement Senmatsu backed off from his two partners, bounced off the ropes and ploughed through them both with lariats to the back of the head, the gymnasium erupted in a chorus of boos. Senmatsu threw Takayuki out of the ring and one of the attending young lions rushed to him to aid him to the back, Senmatsu then rounded on Gakusha stumbling to his feet, Senmatsu then hit him with a vicious running knee, more boos from the crowd, young lion Shuga Amano slid into the ring to attend to Gakusha seeing to his neck with an ice pack... Senmatsu called for a mic

"Heh..... I can hear you all now typing away, whispering to each other on the crowd .... ohhh why has Senmatsu turned on his business partners....Well its like Takayuki said, what goes on in the ring is a totally different matter"

More boos from the crowd as Senmatsu smirked, he moved away from Gakusha and spoke out to the crowd again

"This company dropped the ball with me back in 2005, maybe if they had have kept me around GCG wouldn't have gone under, instead they put their faith in bums like this....."

He gestured towards the floored Gakusha

"Munemitsu Senmatsu is back in Golden Canvas Grappling and I will dominate here like I've dominated everywhere else ...."

He dropped the mic and appeared to be about to leave the ring when he glanced back at Gakusha, still being attended to by the young lion, Senmatsu turned back to the mic and picked it up once more...

"Oh and one more thing, Senmatsu-gun is recruiting...... and for my first recruit I want to bring in someone young, someone to take under my wing that I can help mould .... my first recruit is ...... SHUGA AMANO"

Amano who was tending to Gakusha looked up to Senmatsu and his face immediately changed to display a sick smirk, he tossed the icepack and roughly bought Gakusha to his feet hit him with a fierce stomach kick and fed him to Senmatsu where he was hit with a powerbomb, the crowd booed even louder as Amano and Senmatsu fist bumped and left the ring

It was a while until more ring attendants managed to get Gakusha to the back, the crowd still abuzz with what just happened, the ring announcer entered the ring for what would turn out to be the last time....

"It is now time ....for your Main Event!.... and it is for the Golden Canvas Grappling World Heavyweight Championship!"

The crowd popped loud for this as nobody expected to see the vacant title up for grabs on the show, there was another excited ripple as the tron displayed that it was going to be a three way match, not very often seen in GCG or Japan in general

    Main Event: Three Way Match

The first man through the curtain was acting CEO Mabuchi Furusawa! his time at BHOTWG was largely spent as a bit part player, many of the more knowledgeable fans in attendance were noting that if Furusawa won here he would complete the GCG Grand Slam as he was a previous Openweight and Tag Team champion! Furusawa made his way to one corner and looked out to the crowd ..... his music ended and there was a pause before the next theme began ........

    Bunrakuken Torii.jpg

BUNRAKUKEN TORII! many people in the crowd were out of their seats at this point, as had been explained earlier in the night BCG and GCG had entered into a working partnership and it was assumed that this was part of that deal. He was carrying the Black Canvas Grappling World Championship with him and the chance to add the GCG title to that would make Torii one of the most powerful and sought after workers in Japan! Torii and Furusawa whom had history from BCG stared each other down briefly before Torii made his way over to his corner.

The crowd has just about calmed down when the third mans music began, nobody seemed to recognise the tune, the entrance video gave no clues as to the identity of the wrestler, the curtain burst open and the crowd really went wild this time .....

    Matthew Keith.jpg

MATTHEW KEITH! Keiths BHOTWG had recently expired and to the shock of the Japanese wrestling world they didn't extend it. Keith spent a bit of time to take in the crowd on his way down to the ring as the fans in attendance could scarcely believe what they were seeing!

Furusawa vs Torii vs Keith for the GCG World Heavyweight Championship, GCG really at this moment felt like it was back! people had questions about Keiths role, was he here to stay? but for the moment everyone in attendance drank in this moment and enjoyed the main event

    3rd Match - Singles Match

Veteran Hidekazu was the first of the competitors, at 51 years of age there was always some feeling amongst the crowd that they had to enjoy seeing him whilst he was still active in ring. His opponent was ..... Frankie Perez! Perez making his second appearence for GCG - also on his list of employers were American companies XWA and CZCW, many believed Perez could become a good overseas asset, somebody who's never really found a "big break"

    Frankie Perez def. Hidekazu ***

The lights dimmed again and attention was directed towards the tron once more, another announcement to be made .....

    GCGdojo2.jpg

Golden Canvas Grappling is delighted to announce the Golden Dojo will be reopening within the next month! The dojo will be re opening under the guidance of former CEO Hanshiro Furusawa and will also bare his name - reopening as "The Furusawa Golden Dojo" Open tryouts will be held very soon, please keep an eye on Golden Canvas Grappling socials for details......

There was a great applauds to the dojo news, Hanshiro Furusawa had pushed hard for the dojo to be reopened during his time as CEO and now it turns out that he has been honoured by having the dojo named after him, and he too would be taking a direct hand in training the next generation of GCG stars... The ring announcer entered the ring once more...

4th Match - Tag Team Match

The first man out was Lion Genji! making his second appearance since his return to GCG, Genji had just lost the SAISHO Destiny title and would be looking to make a good start to his second spell on the golden canvas. Heads turned to the curtain to see whom his partner would be .......

Returning to GCG JOJI! with him he carried the Invincible Pro Wrestling Tag Team Championship. The reaction to JOJI was mixed, not necessarily a bad one but certainly of shock as he left Japan in 2012 under a bit of a cloud to do with drug usage, it was well known Eagle Kawasawa was his mentor and many speculated that he managed to pull some strings with GCG's current owenership.

Music began playing that was immediately familiar to those whom watch Pro Wrestling SAISHO - teaming for the first time in GCG, Azumamaro Kita & Fujio Narahashi - Black Iron Corps! Kita had been GCG World Tag Team Champion with Danjuro Kikuchi before Kikuchi left the company and the belts were vacated.

The next match up was the one made at the start of the night - Uno, Urogataya & Kato vs Takayuki, Gakusha and Senmatsu.....

A small graphic plays to introduce the show, crowd members whom has been browsing merch or buying refreshments begin to scramble back to their seats. Once the graphic is finished the lights dim and the ring announcer steps forward.......

"Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome the newest owners of Golden Canvas Grappling!"

A murmer of anticipation ripples around the gymnasium and the first face to appear through the curtain is Takayuki 2000 whom is welcomed warmly by the crowd, a short way behind him comes Hiroyasu Gakusha who carries a satisfied look on his face, there is a palpable feeling of anticipation as people crane their necks, eyes fixed on the curtain for the appearance of the third investor, seconds seem to drag on forever until finally, strolling through the curtain is ....

    Munemitsu Senmatsu.jpg

MUNEMITSU SENMATSU! ... the crowd erupts and people exchanged excited conversations, Senmatsu many people forget was a GCG dojo graduate and it appeared that he was the man with the 5% share in the company. All three men in the ring Senmatsu somehow looked out of place, people still visibly a mixture of shocked and excited in the crowd, Hiroyasu Gakusha took the mic

    "Good Evening Niigata!"

loud cheers and applause break out through the gymnasium

"Gakusha, Takayuki and Senmatsu ... we answered the call and returned to Golden Canvas Grappling! tonight is the beginning of something that we all know will become special, todays surprise card will keep you on the edge of your seats!"

Another ripple of applause passed around the gymnasium, Gakusha handed the microphone over to Takayuki 2000 and the crowd broke out with calls of Takayuki

"It is good to be ho......"

Suddenly shouts could be heard from the crowd and two hooded men leapt over the barricade and blindsided Senmatsu, another two hooded men began attacking both Gakusha and Takayuki as the microphone made a loud thud as it hit the mat, booing began as the original two attackers drove Senmatsu into the barricade and then joined with their partners in ring to continue the beat down on Gakusha and Takayuki. One by one the hooded men revealed themselves as ...... RYOBE UNO, MORIMASA KATO, MASASHI UROGATAYA and AZUMAMARO SHIMIZU. Urogataya particularly seeming to revel in the moment, the crowd particularly shocked to see Shimizu involved in such acts. The young Ryobe Uno grabbed the mic, tapping it against his thigh to check it was working

"Did you expect the red carpet? what am I supposed to thank you guys? You old men ran this company into the ground just as I graduated and you nearly cost me my career!"

Uno proceeded to lay boots into Gakusha to loud boos, smirking at what was going on Masashi Urogataya took the mic

"We were the men who got this place off the ground again, we've given blood and sweat since last year, wrestling in dumps like Niigata whilst guys went off running to PGHW, and you .... you people....."

Urogataya pointed out to the crowd, he was greeted with more boos.

"You people will forget us this easily? for these washed up has beens? ..."

The crowd broke into cheers again as Munemitsu Senmatsu stormed back into the ring waving a chair around that made the four men scatter, unfortunately for him Ryobe Uno didn't move quick enough and caught a sick chair shot across the back, he managed to roll out of the ring before any damage could be done. Senmatsu briefly checked on Gakusha and Takayuki short of breath and grimacing yelled into the mic

"OI you punks, I know this was supposed to be a mystery card but later tonight, Us three against Uno, Kato and Urogataya ..... And Shimizu you can wipe that smirk off your face, a little bird tells me that you have a title defence..... RIGHT NOW!"

Cheers meet that announcement, Shimizu throws his arms up in protest and only made his way back to the ring once Gakusha and co. had left, a small graphic appears on the tron ...

The ring announcer returned, with a fresh card in his hand, it seemed like even he was finding out these match ups at the very last minute

2nd Match - Six Man Tag

Familiar music to the crowd began to play and the first team emerged lead by Harumi Okazawaya whom it had been rumoured was unhappy with the company, however he is known to be good friends with Takayuki 2000 and many now assumed this would mean he would be sticking around. Making up Okazawaya's team was Beetle Kimura and Fuyuhiko Wakabayashi

There was a short pause before their opponents began to appear, Kevin Yashere and Lenny Mochin strolled through the curtain, the two British wrestlers whom had both been enjoying prolonged spells in Japan were relatively well received by the crowd, they were alone though and it was a short while before their music faded off, their partner emerged shortly after, it took a short while before sections of the crowd and then the majority of the crowd broke out into loud reactions as their partner made his way down the ramp ....

The competitors left the ring after team Matsushita was victorious, the crowd still abuzz with the surprise appearance of the BCG man, it was then that any earlier questions about the relationship between BCG and GCG was answered when a short video package played that featured Yoshifusa Maeda (to a huge reaction) explaining that Black Canvas Grappling and Golden Canvas Grappling were entering into a working partnership!

    Golden Canvas Grappling Ownership Confirmed

As was announced earlier in the week, Hiroyasu Gakusha now has a 30% ownership stake in Golden Canvas Grappling, we can also confirm that Gakusha will be active in ring for GCG for the first time since 2017. We can now confirm that with a 15% share in the company and as with Gakusha returning to GCG and being active in ring will be Takayuki 2000. Takayuki had the following comments to make upon confirmation of his purchase into the company "This was the right thing to do at the right time, this is by no means the end of myself in ring, outside of the ring I would like to thank Gakusha and our partner for being a part of this, inside the ring I look forward to beating you and all of the GCG competitors"

The remaining investor with a 5% share has requested he retain his anonymity until "The Tigers Den" more details about the event are to follow.

As previously mentioned Mabuchi Furusawa will be assuming the role of acting CEO, taking up the day to day work of Hanshiro Furusawa.

    ----------------------------------------------------------

    gcg8.jpeg

The Tigers Den will be the first show held prior to the change in ownership. The match card will not be announced before hand and will be kept a surprise. Mabuchi Furusawa upon announcing The Tigers Den also added the following "The Tigers Den will feature a surprise match card which I am sure you will all enjoy, to start the night we will hear from the three new investors and this will of course include the reveal of the third man" moving onto talk about GCG going forward Furusawa was upbeat "Myself and the other part owners all have an exciting vision for the future, my Father will still have input into this as the majority shareholder though he is largely entrusting many decisions to us, there are announcements set to come over the next few days, please look forward to it"

Hiroyasu Gakusha signs contract to become part owner of Golden Canvas Grappling

On 22nd March 2021 Hiroyasu Gakusha bought what roughly equates to a 30% share in Golden Canvas Grappling. To be announced later in the week there will be two more new owners, one with a 15% share and one with a 5% share. Hanshiro Furusawa will retain his half of the company from the rebirth of 2020 though he will be taking a step back and handing over the reigns of day to day operations.

Mabuchi Furusawa has been voted as acting CEO by all shareholders, Mabuchi Furusawa will still remain active in ring. The company will also be announcing a new Head Booker in the coming days, Hanshiro Furusawa giving up that role due to his declining health.

Hiroyasu Gakusha offered a very short statement with more to come in due course

    Quote

It has been a rollercoaster few weeks but I am thrilled to be in this position today. Golden Canvas Grappling has been dear to me since I first graced the golden canvas in 1997 and I and my colleagues now face the challenge of steering the ship back on course after what has been a rough time.  I would like to thank the Aichi Prefectural Government for their official manner with which they conducted the sale of their shares, I would also like to thank Hanshiro Furusawa for his hard work to this point. Finally a word of thanks to Burning Hammer Of The Wrestling Gods whom have agreed a mutual termination of my contract with them.

Please look forward to more announcements

  17. TEW banner.png

Light has finally been shed on the finer details behind the parties vying for control of Golden Canvas Grappling and we at TEW.com can exclusively break that news here today.

First off the previous coalition of Pete Hall and Sadakuno Nishimuraya have seemingly withdrawn their interest in taking the reigns, it would seem the potential finances behind the two other groups involved have scared them off. Burning Hammer Of The Wrestling Gods have indeed made enquiries into purchasing the Aichi Prefectural Governments half of the company, this is probably a much easier task than going after Hanshiro Furusawas half as surely even he with his history wouldn't sell off the company to long historical rivals, though would anything in the wrestling world truly shock us anymore?

Secondly a consortium of workers headed by Hiroyasu Gakusha will be trying to gain control of GCG, what we do know is that there are four active BHOTWG wrestlers involved in this, two of which are hoping to remain anonymous whilst the outcome of their bid seems uncertain, all four men would surely be kissing goodbye to their BHOTWG careers if the bid was to fail. The only name of the four aside from Gakusha that we know is Mabuchi Furusawa, the son of Hanshiro, obvious personal ties there make this a very intriguing situation.
