  1. So the only way the Punk "rebel" persona would have worked for you was if he actually left the company? Not saying this to be a smartass I'm legitimately curious as to if this was your point.

CM Punk was never going to walk out of the company, but at least, they could have create the illusion of it. The illusion was never there for me, it felt just like any other storyline. Basically, I'd say that they, once again, rushed a potentiel good story. Worst for them : the short term pay off wasn't even that great! Punk came back too quickly, it didn't fit the persona, it was an too rapid evolution.

  2. Honestly, CM Punk rebel persona died for me the minute he came out on RAW the next after MitB. It was a flaw in the logic of his persona so big for me that it could never be recevored. So I kinda find it funny when people talk about Punk-the-rebel as I don't believe he's been in that role for months. He does have a set of beliefs and principles he follows every week, but being rebellous (sp?) is not one of them. Punk could have been bigger by now with different booking decisions, but I can't say he's being faded out either. He's still hanging with the key players, having valuable air time and an integrated part of the main storyline.

On to something else now. I still don't get the buzz around Mason Ryan. He still looks like a poor version of Batista to me, which is really not a good thing.

Quick question : wasn't the Big Show a RAW member before his injury ? They are confusing the hell out of me with the rosters...

  3. Daniel Bryan only has to start winning around January or even February. Everything before that moment is not relevent coming to the actual cash-in at Wrestlemania. He doesn't even have to win decisely by that time either, he could be lucky and/or barely beating people and it would still paint him as underdog which I think is they way they are going. If Bryan wins the title at WM, it's going to be the feel good story of an underdog, just like Mysterio's win a couple years ago.
  4. Well Legend,

The way I could see this going down, that Trips and Punk beat the ever living crap out of each other, only to have a "Dirty Finish" where Nash (or someone else) interferes, and then both Punk and Trips team up and possibly join up with John Cena (which I believe he WONT win the title at N.O.C.) further solidifying the mystery of who is the Shadowy "Corporation" and who is pulling the strings...

I STILL think its Vince. I mean he would have the most to gain and he will make all of his "enemies" suffer. He will make Punk suffer for taking the title in the first place, Cena for interfering with Vince and John Laurenitis and preventing him from screwing him over, and Triple H. I know y'all find this weird, but I wouldn't be surprised that Vince harbors a "secret hatred" for Trips, relieving him and taking over his job...Because Vince said it before, Vince (in his mind) is bigger than GOD!

    I might be wrong......but I DOUBT IT.

    GHOST

That's what I was thinking last weeek during my long walks back home. Even before this week RAW, I thought CM Punk vs HHH at Wrestlemania seemed too far down the road, but HHH vs Vince for the control of the company looks more probable. I don't believe John Laurianitis is acting on his own, he's just a puppet probably of Vince. Just with that, they can run the story for a good time. Add in Stephanie at some point to add some length, especially when it is revealed that Vince is behind all this. Build the match at WM around who's side Steph is going to take, hell even make it seems she has choosen her dad early in 2012 only to turn on him at Wrestlemania. HHH wins, Stephanie is with him, happy couple for the reminder of 2012.

That was all in my thinking about WM 2012 which even includes a feel good story about Daniel Bryan winning the World Title against all odds. I mean, if they are goint to put the strap on him, why not making him the ultimate underdog who finally triumph on the big stage ?

  5. ADR is not going to lose the belt soon. There's a tour in Mexico in October and they are dying to go back there with him as a champion. It would give him a 3-4 months reign which is really good for a first time.

As for Punk not being able to hit the GTS on Nash... Well, for me, the move has zero credibilty in the first place anyway. A lot of WWE wrestlers are bigger and/or taller than Punk, so he has trouble to a) lift them b) hitting them with his knee before their feet touch the ground. He really needs something for bigger opponents, but that's just my opinion.

  6. Coming off the PPV, my main is thought : Kevin... freaking... Nash... what the hell was that ? I mean, Del Rio cashing in on the winner of the main event had a good probability of occuring and I don't mind it, but what the hell was Nash doing there ? That was really out of nowhere and we can only hope we will have a good explanation, not just some random crap.

As for the rest of the night, it was average. Too much things I didn't care about to begin with. It was a two matchs event for me on paper (okay I'm lying, I was looking forward to Sheamus vs Henry too) and it still feels that way at this time. I was somewhat impressed with the Divas match though. It's was surprisingly a better match than the usual ones.

  7. 1. Who was the annonomus GM for the last year and a half? The podium is gone now, so I am assuming the gimmick is over...I don't care if Trip had simply said "one of the changes I'm making is that the GM is gone." but at least, you know, address why and how a major gimmick is simply gone with no warning.

*wave hand in a Jedi-like fashion* There never was a Annonymous GM for RAW.

  8. Well, that was a disapointing RAW for me since a) I don't like Jim Ross b) I don't like Rey c) where was the anynomous GM again ? d) they rushed the Punk storyline. On the plus side though, I have to agree that the matchs were pretty good and that seeing Zack Ryder made my day. That guy will never be a world champion, but if Santino can make a career by acting goofy, why not Ryder ?

I'm trying to keep an open mind for the Punk storyline, but it's getting harder. Maybe they can win me back with a strong reasoning as to why he's back so quick. They will probably need another surprising twist to keep this going for some time and that's the disapointing to me. It feels like they are rushing a 6 months feud into 2 or 3 months.

Oh and I don't remember who asked, but yeah, that will count as a title reign for Rey. That shouldn't in my opinion, but if they can call Dolph Ziggler a world champion when he hold the belt for like an hour.... Reminds me of the day of the 24/7 rule with the hardcore title which was fine for a midcard belt, but not for your main title.

  9. The next few steps in the storyline are crucial, it might be sink or swim. The ending segment of RAW kinda felt flat in my opinion. Vince made a good effort to light some importance on his decision, Cena had a good promo, but the HHH/board part felt anti-climatic. I absolutely didn't feel the emotion of the moment regardless of both them trying to cry, sorry. What's up with Vince crying anyway ? Doesn't that prove the board is right ? Where's the fighter in Vince ? Why didn't he start yelling they can't do that, that he is still the man in charge ? Just staying there crying made him look even weaker than what the board said. I don't buy Vince McMahon, the character, just accepting the decision and moving on. If he doesn't try anything to reverse the decision, it will be very disappointing.

HHH character as an authority figure needs development and I'm okay with giving them time to do so. He can't just be the HHH we know as it won't work. Authority figures need some kind of weakness to appear beatable, even if it's just their ego they make them take silly decision, and I don't remember the last time HHH appeared beatable or vulnerable. At the sime time, they don't have the luxury of time. The storyline commands that the new authority makes a strong point of proving that the former authority made bad decision. It's a tricky balance to achieve. If the Anonymous GM is still there (I didn't see the podium this week), that could be one way of slowing down the storyline and adding some room to establish the HHH authority figure character.

  10. Wow.

CM Punk leaving with the title was the less probable scenario for me and it happened. I'm pleasentely surprised. So much intriguing possible storylines from now that my brain hurts ! It was a really good match too with little side stories, lows and highs, drama and a surreal atmosphere. If anyone wonders why we like wrestling, we should point to tonight and this magic moment.

Overall show was good I'd say. The two MITB were different enough to keep the act interesting all night long. I believe every single of the 16 participant had their moment. Alberto Del Rio winning was a bit predictable, but they couldn't throw curveballs all night. Poor Daniel Bryan will be the first guy to cash in and lose. At least, he will have the chance to cash unlike Mr Kennedy.

Show/Henry met my expectation which were not very high like everyone else. I like the booking though, they have something going there. With the stipulation, Christian was likely to win, and he did, I'm just not sure about the sequence of events. I mean, he spat in his face, that's not something that bad imo. And why kicking Christian in the balls at the exact moment, after the referee already warned you and you have backed down ? There's some logic that escapes me there. This match was a bit too long for my liking, I thought it dragged somewhere in the middle.

Still, overall a really good night of wrasslin' and I can't wait to see what's next !

  11. <p>Everyone is talking about a CM Punk win followed by a briefcase cashin, but what about the Smackdown situation ? Could Christian win the title only to lose it mere minutes later when someone (well, Sheamus) cash the breifcase ? For a lot of people, Christian is just a big whiner and making him a super short champion once again would be in line with the character and their expectations. </p><p> </p><p>

Speaking of Smackdown MITB, am I the only one finding it thin on stars ? For all the love Rhodes, Sin Cara or Bryan get, they are really not main eventing right now. Barrett ? I guess he could be up the card again, but it feels like creative is less behind him. Kane ? Not again sorry. It fitted a purpose last year, but there's nothing going for him now. Which leaves us with Sheamus, the closest thing to a regular main eventer this match has. Sheamus really feels like the safe bet, with Barrett having an odd chance too. All the others would be a long work in progress to make them legitime threat to any world champion. Specially Heath Slater <img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

  12. Anything but Cena beating Punk cleanly will be a surprise for me. I've set my expectations pretty low on this one, sorry. It could be one the great stories of the last few years in wrestling, there's so many possibilities, so many things could branch off the main story, but the current creative team in WWE hasn't had a lot of homeruns, not even doubles for that matter, in their recent record.

If it was just a regular TV match, I'd say get everyone and their mother involved in the match (faces wanting to protect the WWE and its title, heels minding their own agenda, etc.). You know, organized chaos and mayhem. It's a been a while since we had a tv show ending in that fashion and I like them. For a PPV though, I don't like the formula, I prefer my PPVs to have a definite ending so the buyers leave the event with the feeling that they paid for something important.

  13. Has anyone else noticed that Christian is basically in a face role despite being a heel? He continually gets screwed in legitimate ways, and they want us to boo him? I'm not sure if it's because they wanted more heel challengers for Orton or were afraid to turn Orton, but it's just kind of...strange. And I don't think it's just that I'm a fan of Christian and an internet fan or whatever, I would have thought this was weird way back when I was a kid.

On the other hand, Orton has been face by default for a long time. I mean, he acts pretty much like he was when he was a heel, but since he's going against clear heel much of the time, he's considered a face.

  14. Finally got around the last Raw and I have to say that I'm impressed by the reaction Alex Riley got. Sure, he's going against one of the hottest heel, it guarantees a minimal face pop, but so far people really want him to hurt Miz. If they handle the feud correctly, I believe they could have a decently over Riley hoovering in the midcard for the foresable future. The hard part would obviously be the after-Miz part of that deal.

Decent way to get around Kong pregnancy storyline wise. It breaks kayfabe, some people are not going to like it, but if they make sure we don't forget her, they might have a moderately over face to work with in a year. Not to mention that meanwhile, they could use that whole thing to promote their corporate image (we treat our women well, we encourage them to have a family, etc.).

  15. <p>I'm not sure that main event was a good idea. I mean they did exactly what the Cena haters hate about him : getting his rear end handed for an extended period then it's the Superman syndrom. At least, they could have made Miz quit on something meaningfull. Anyway, I quit matches are generally a bad idea and this one was not an exception. Your options are way too limited and it rarely pays off the way you wanted. </p><p> </p><p>

I was surprised by other world title match. Not about the quality of the match, neither that I expected Christian to win the belt, but I thought Henry and/or Shaemus would be involved. That seemed the logical way to me to extend the Christian/Orton feud to Summerslam. I could have see a 4-Way at Capitol Punishment with quick eliminations at the end to make sure Christian/Orton are not the last two standing for an extended period and something to give a heel (Sheamus) something to complain about and get a one-on-one rematch at MITB. Then it would have been Christian vs Orton at Summerslam with a lenghty buildup.... and a high possibility of pissing off a lot more people by giving the title to Christian only to have him beat seconds later by a MITB winner. </p><p> </p><p>

Everything else was pretty forgettable. That was an average PPV on paper and it was an average delivery. Two other notes. Big Zeke is slowly getting good face pops, so they might have something there. Mason Ryan needs to learn to work as a heel, but he's so green that he shouldn't be there anyway.</p>
