Personally, I'm a fan of the more illustrated style you're going for. I'm using a similar style, albeit made with StableDiffusion running locally, not DALL-E. I've found that illustrated pictures mesh better, even when the styles are different. The different 3D-rendered styles used in the CVerse clash too much for my liking. Here's a sample of some I've cut out for a custom universe I've been playing as examples. The different styles are noticeable if you look closely, but to me at least, the differences don't jump out like they do with renders.
As a bonus from both an artistic and practical standpoint, you can abandon the classic blue background, leaving the AI-generated background, adding character to the picture while also saving yourself the effort of cutting out the person and pasting them on the blue, although I realize many people on this board are married to that background.
