  1. Candyman, i hope you realise that you are part of the IWC. You're a wrestling fan posting on an internet forum about wrestling. The IWC aren't one big monolithic group with Scott Keith or Dave Meltzer or whoever as king - they (we) all have different opinions on all sorts of things. You can't just broadly go "they think ____".

As for 'why can't we all just wait and see how it pans out?' - are you seriously expecting everyone only comment on things from at least a year ago so that we can all comment with hindsight? Is instantly analysis and reaction not allowed? We'll sit back and look at the big picture once the big picture has happened. We might change our opinion over time, we might not. We'll see when we get there.

  2. Biggz' persistence amuses me.

For what it's worth, i'm another who scored it for Edgar. Only barely though - First two rounds were Penn's, last 3 for Edgar. I can see logic in it going either way.

I think the problem here is that it was a close fight - and close fights that go to the judges will be controversial no matter what. If they're not controversial, it wasn't close enough.

  3. Wait... I've never seen nudity on TV.. what channels do you have?! (I'm not counting random ass shots, nor playboy channels)

We've got all the sex discussion shows at night on Virgin1 and all that, Five and Channel 4/More4 have the occasional documentaries about "the perfect penis" or "the woman with massive tits" or whatever, some dramas will chuck a few knockers in there for art's sake... Nudity is all over our TV - anything goes after 9 of course...

  4. I don't know what to say.

Basically if they don't do the striptease thing you end up with a 8.3-8.4 which is about where they were 2 weeks ago.

Not bad..but they can't seriously be planning on pushing more nudity as a long term solution to their ratings problems.

I've gotta say it again, how does this ratings stuff make any sense? How many people have precognition and go "wait, i can sense the Knockouts will do a striptease in a minute, better tune in!"? It was in the overrun - ie. people who had tuned in for the next show but not Impact, combined with the people that were still watching Impact. Surely overruns will always be the same if not higher?

Looking at ratings only makes sense if everyone clearly turns off at a certain point. If it's for turning on, how would they have known what exact segment they were turning on to?

  5. Doug Williams- If I'm pushing Rob Terry, I don't want two other british guys on the same show.

...What? Why don't you sack all the other Americans if you're pushing Angle too? You've still got Wolfe staying i see by the way.

Surely by now we're past "only Americans on an American show"? Especially as we're the 51st State and all.

In 1997, they were well ahead and Vince was struggling. Let's not neglect how significant that is.</p>

I didn't even had to use them on the mortgadge joke...cause it's obvious that Turner would never let things get to that point. But i understand what you mean, and i know your right. Sadly there is people who say stuff like that...in a serious way. But if you did not knew...now you know i'm not one of those guys.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> When i referenced the mortgage thing, i didn't think "Oh boy, this guy really thinks Turner would need a mortgage?", i just used the same metaphor for "running short of money" that you did. Obviously, Ted Turner's idea of running short of money is different to the average person's (where they <em>would</em> need to get a mortgage).</p><p> </p><p> If anything, you're the one who's misinterpreted what's been said <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
  8. I just looked it up and Turner has less money than i thought. Obviously he's got ****ing loads, but compared to other rich people, not so much.

I've always thought of him like Roman Abramovich, who has pumped over a billion quid (so, 2 billion dollars) into Chelsea FC with scant monetary reward. Obviously, compared to that, 100 million is bugger all.

But Abramovich is worth 8.5 billion dollars, and Turner 2.0 billion. Perhaps he wouldn't be so happy to deal with a 100 million loss. Maybe he would though.

Thing is, we can't change the past, so we really don't know.

Edit: Hold on, there are two ways of quantifying a billion. A thousand million, and a million million. And i've completely lost track of which the values i've listed apply to :(

  9. Yeah because we all want our wrestlers to be good looking and have the voice of an angel. In fact I hear that's a pre-requisite in many wrestling schools these days. Before you even enter the ring you gotta be able to walk past a mirror without it cracking and talk like Denzel Washington.

Different people look for different things in wrestling. We don't all have the same standards

  10. Dreamer & Sabu should NEVER be mentioned as people who Vince should have pushed heavily. They are not top talents. Certainly useful as pieces of the roster, but not someone that should be headlining WWE. And Benoit, well, never really liked him from a superstar standpoint (by that meaning the complete package). He was BORING on the mic, and pretty small. Not top belt material in WWE.

Benoit had intensity though, which more than made up for lack of size. Like Tazz, or even Angle.
