  1. That's how this works anyway. We have a set of rules that we agree but there's no point playing the challenge if it's not fun. I looked into this a bit more and these are the maximum values for each stat for each setting: I'm going to add Spot Monkey and Hardcore Brawler to the usable list but I think everything above High Flier is OP.
  2. It's up for discussion. With skills set to average the quick skills tool gives between 20-50 points to primary skills. The top middle column determines which of these skills get points: Brawler is brawling, puro, hardcore Brawler-Wrestler is the above plus technical Hardcore brawler gives 40-50 hardcore but lower brawling and puro Technician gives technical High Flyer gives aerial and flashiness Technician-Flyer gives 40-50 technical plus between 20-50 aerial and flashiness Luchador gives 40-50 for aerial and flashiness and 20-50 for technical Flashy Striker gives 40-50 for brawling, puro and flashiness plus a decent amount of technical and aerial Spot Monkey gives 40-50 for flashiness and aerial and 20-30 for hardcore All Rounder gives 20-50 for everything As you can see these settings are not equal and some are far too OP for a RTG. That's why I suggested just allowing Brawler, Technician and High Flier. I think Hardcore Brawler and Spot Monkey are probably ok too though. If you wanted to create a more all round character you would need to use the first method and spread the 750 points.
  3. I was just testing the heel/babyface thing and 8 people (!) turned up to my first show. I think this is because the wrestling industry is at 15 and my product states that attendance is strongly affected by the wrestling industry.
  4. Yes. It's automatic if you use the quick skills tool but i'll add it to the first option too.
  5. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="awesomenessofme1" data-cite="awesomenessofme1" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47775" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>100% and Better As... are mutually exclusive, so I'd think 100% would also have to give bonuses if you're the correct disposition, right? Otherwise it's strictly worse than just not having an attribute at all.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Some attributes are just negative though. I think it's to simulate people like Ricky Steamboat who could just never play heel.</p><p> </p><p> I'll add these attributes to some workers tonight see what shows up on the dirt sheet.</p>
  6. I think 100% gives penalties. Better as.. seems to give a bonus to segments if you are the correct disposition.
  7. They'll be extra rolls this year for achievements. I think letting people choose amazing heel or babyface from the start might be OP as these directly impact segment performance. I think weekly shows from the start are going to be necessary until popularity and sponsorship picks up.
  8. <p>Any final thoughts on skills? I'm proposing the following rules for character creation:</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47775" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">CHARACTER STATS</span></strong><p> </p><p> Age: 18 (If playing the default Cornellverse your birthday should fall between January 2001 and December 2001)</p><p> </p><p> Reputation: Lowest</p><p> Potential: Excellent in all categories or random if you wish.</p><p> </p><p> You can allocate your skills one of two ways:</p><p> </p><p> <strong>1. Allocate 750 skill points</strong></p><p> </p><p> Skills: Your character starts with Resilience 100, Reputation 50, Experience 0 and Respect 0.</p><p> You have 750 Points to spend on other skills. (No skill may exceed 75 to begin with)</p><p> </p><p> <strong>2. Using the Quick Skill Creation tool </strong></p><p> </p><p> Use the following settings:</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Top Row Left</strong> - Set to 'trainee'</p><p> <strong>Top Row Middle</strong> - Pick from Brawler, Technician, High Flier, Spot Monkey or Hardcore Brawler</p><p> <strong>Top Row Right</strong> - Set to 'Whose skills are average'</p><p> <strong>Bottom Row Left</strong> - Set to 'of average athleticism'</p><p> <strong>Bottom Row Middle</strong> - Set to 'Somewhat entertaining'</p><p> <strong>Bottom Row Right</strong> - Set to 'Who looks like a star'</p><p> </p><p> Then click 'create'. Just should just click this once, if you are unhappy with your stats after the first click then you can create your character using method 1.</p><p> </p><p> Then make the following changes:</p><p> </p><p> - No skill should be higher than 75 (except resilience). If any stat is above 75 then change it to 75</p><p> - Set Resilience to 100</p><p> - Set Reputation to 50</p><p> - Set Respect to 0</p><p> - Move points between Sex Appeal and Menace if you wish</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Attributes:</strong></p><p> </p><p> Don't set any attributes, these will be added via mystery boxes as the game progresses.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Popularity</strong>: </p><p> </p><p> Set to 0 everywhere, you are starting from the bottom here.</p><p> </p></div></blockquote>
  9. That style idea was to rip off FM. I get why people don't like the UI but it doesn't bother me. When I play TEW all of the actual clicking is done on auto pilot and I got used to this version within a few shows. The one thing I dearly miss is the the view workers button on the angle screen.
  10. I imagine it's easier to make mock ups than design a UI for a game. Also, if Adam ripped off Football Manager so blatently by producing something that looked like your screenshot then that would not be good. I'm really looking forward to the game being released. I've played the demo a fair bit and really enjoyed the experience.
  11. I love the change but not using Heartbreak would involve a re-write of my plans. I think i'll just absorb the extra $100 though.
  12. I had accidentally included the road agent cost. I tested again and it was $130 which is correct from Europe to Britain
  13. Huge change from the latest patch: This is a gamechanger for our 0/0/0/1000 promotions. Bret Heartbreak now costs $498 instead of $30
  14. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="jameschaos" data-cite="jameschaos" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47775" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>was more referring to character creation.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> OK, I understand. The plan at the moment is for no attributes to be added at the start and see where the mystery box takes our characters.</p>
  15. Two days to go!! I added in the temporary attributes, they are going to work really well as a mystery box item. Are you referring to #42? I'm not sure if "Better as a heel" adds a penalty to playing a babyface but even if it does not all of the these rolls are meant to be positive. Sometime you are going to get one that sucks.
  16. Great spot with the technical skills. Also with #11, I checked the handbook and it makes no difference to match performance. I'd really like something interesting for numbers 22 to 30, I always hated getting a boost to brawling if I was a high flier. One idea I had was to add the option of adding a small number of points to the primary skill of your choice: 23. "Fists of Fury" You have devoted your holiday season to training in the ring +5 to your Brawling skill or +2 to any other primary skill.
  17. I didn't assume that but I couldn't decide what to do with #19. I think a 50/50 chance is fair with this one.
  18. <p>My attempt at editing the mystery box picks:</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47775" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>1. 19. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Jaded" data-cite="Jaded" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47775" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>But a) it goes off average popularity across Europe and b) the wages compared to that average popularity are stupidly low.<p> </p><p> His pop is: 16/16/11/11/44/12/7, making it a total across Europe of 117 and an average of just below 17. Wrestlers with 13, 14, 15, or 16 average pop in their home country/continent want $50 a show. For some reason it doesn't take into consideration respect (as TEW 16 did) OR the fact that he's incredibly over in Central Europe where they're actually running shows. (I tested this by editing Penfold Perdition to 99 in Hawaii - he was more popular than Jack Bruce and still only wanted $40 a show!!)</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Re-adding respect into the calculation seems like the best solution. Perhaps if they have been unemployed for a while high respect adds less to the wage demands.</p>
  20. That has to be a bug, he has 44 overness in the area that VWA are based in and is their figurehead!
  21. hmm, If this doesn't get patched then maybe we need a rule about it.
  22. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Jaded" data-cite="Jaded" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47775" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I mean people like Nelson Callum, Bradley Blaze, Bradford Peverell, and a ton of other staggeringly talented wrestlers with sky-high overness in certain areas compared to the size of an RTG fed working for 60 or 40 dollars a night. Self-owned PPVs being too effective are also going to ruin RTG but not as immediately.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> This is true. Ian Vincible and Landon Mallory are available for $30 a show in the UK.</p>

You mean the ridiculous 2016 system where nobodies who in real life would probably work for free demanded $200 a show? There are issues with the wage system (exclusive written PPA being too cheap being the biggest one I know of), but they don't really come into play until you've reached a decent size. The more relevant financial issue for RtG is self-owned PPV broadcasters being too effective.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I think this new way is better. The challenge of RTG was never surviving the first year, the challenge was sticking through the grinds from regional to cult and cult to national to get your UC to the top. </p><p> </p><p> 2016 was annoying because everyone had to start over constantly until they found a way of staying in business. Every patch that Adam issued changed the finances too.</p>
