1. Very likely I'll get to see Silva/Sonnen II in person. Pretty pumped
2. I kind of thought Silva seemed a little uninterested in his most recent fights, but I'm not sure if he's lost his fire or not. His camp is claiming that a rib injury was responsible for his somewhat underwhelming performance in rounds 1-4. At the post fight press conference, Chael seemed to believe him and Lindland didn't doubt him during an interview on the next day. Who knows though? Kind of think he's just not been exposed to a strong wrestler before. Henderson, by credentials, is obviously good, but he's clearly more interested in trying to land big bombs on folks. In R1 against Silva though, he did manage a good takedown and some control. Aside from Hendo and Chael, I can't think of any top quality wrestlers he's fought.
3. I'm pumped about Silva/Sonnen. I'm not even sure who I want to win or if I even care, but I have to give it to Chael... he's made me interested in Silva again. And the rest of the card is pretty compelling too. August looks to be a good month for MMA
4.
Didn't sound like Rampage wanted the fight.

Wouldn't be surprised if he phones it in and gives a poor showing, tbh.

5. Same for me. Which, strangely, is enough to keep me excited about the card. Doubt I'd pay for it (think it's on Spike in the US, right?) or buy a ticket though.
6. Now now, I'd call McCorkle's recent opponents flabby, not him. For his size and body shape (he's broad and tall... like 6'6 or so?) , he's in decent (albeit, I wouldn't say "good" or "great" shape). Don't think he's ever been at 265 though, so this will be a serious weight cut for him. If he does it well, I wouldn't be surprised to see him beat Hunt with ground control and ground and pound. If he does the weight cut poorly, Hunt'll knock his socks off. That's if he can even make the weight. Actually, no idea if Hunt can make that weight these days?
7. Keep hearing that the UFC owed Hunt fights from the Pride takeover: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/mma/post/2010/07/mark-hunt-plans-for-ufc-debut-in-september/1
8. I like to quantify it directly. My statements, for example, carry about twice as much weight as GM's And when DJ talks... he's just right. No reason to even discuss the issue
9. For me, as someone with both a 360 and PS3, I generally see little difference in performance (that is, gameplay or graphics quality). A year ago, I'd probably have given both to the 360, but the PS3 games do look a bit better now (though I still feel that most games feel more "natural" on the 360... but even that is a negligible difference). Frankly, for me, it has and always will come down to the player base. My family and closest friends are overwhelmingly 360 players. Probably due to the fact that the 360 has been out longer (but also maybe due to the price difference). So, I have a choice between buying something like Red Dead Redemption for the PS3, where I know literally no one, or the same game for the 360 (where I know at least 3 or 4 people that want to play with me)... Well then, the choice is clear FFIV and FFVI are great games. When I was younger, I was also big on FFI (can't seem to get into that now). Never been able to get hooked on FFVII or later though.
10. Hmm. My current list by amount of time played on: 360 > PC > DS > PS3 > PS2 > Wii. My nephews love their 360 and I tend to play online with them. PC is alone time. The others are "sigh, I'm bored"... except the Wii. That's the "oh, my wife likes to play video games once per month".
11. It pains me to see professional wrestlers referred to as professional fighters. Aren't the catchphrases "WWE superstars" and "sports entertainment" these days? And for the most part, they don't seem to refer to themselves as "fighters", they think of themselves as "wrestlers", yes? Some might say that this is a meaningless distinction (but those people would be wrong). This is why the typical Cena-esque promo that says "[current feuding partner] Oh, this isn't going to be a wrestling match and I'm not going to try to pin you or win by count out, this is going to be a fight and I'm going to beat you until I'm good and satisfied!" is supposedly meaningful. A fight, in the context of kayfabe professional wrestling, is more violent, more serious, and generally uglier than a wrestling match. Not to discredit your response though. I think all of what you said holds true and is pretty much how I see things. WWE superstar A shows up, performs, leaves. NXT folks trash the set, choke people with ties, etc. WWE superstar A would potentially like to help, but is too busy talking to a cute redhead at the bar down the street.
12. /remembers that there is a poster named Slim Jim here. Did you eat him?
13. Would like to watch the WEC show, but will pass on it. While I have the disposable income to buy probably three or four ppv's per month if I want (especially given that I split the UFC events with my brother-in-law), it's just a matter of principle at this point. I mean, if we split an HD PPV each month (which is conservative, given that there are sometimes 2 per month), that's already $330 per year, plus splitting the food (which is easily $50, so another $300). If the WEC starts showing up twice a year, that's another $110 (as I doubt I can get anyone to split that with me). Frankly, it costs me more per year to be a MMA fan than it does to be a fan of any other sports, despite the fact that I typically get to go to one NFL and MLB game a year. If Zuffa or Comcast or whoever is in charge of such things would offer a discounted bundle package (like, $5 off per ppv if I buy 6, $10 if I buy 12?), I'd be all over it. As it stands now, I'm toying with the idea of giving up on UFC PPV's altogether.
14. Heard a rumor on a Caprica fan board that Caprica might make the move to Tuesday night for the upcoming season. Didn't bother to check the source, so take it for what is worth.
15. Regarding the two main events: IMO, Fighters should work towards finishing fights. Not every fight or every fighter is always going to be finishable, but every fighter should also try to finish in every fight. I'd like to see the pay scales revamped to reflect this. Something like: 10k to fight, 10k to win, 10k to finish.
16. Fixed Seriously though - GSP isn't the most exciting fighter in the world, but he tried to finish the fight last night. I'm guessing like 9 out of 10 fighters would have tapped to one of the two armlocks. Fitch on the other hand ... that guy has got to realize, at some point, that the UFC is a business. The fans want to see people try to finish fights. When they don't buy that you're even trying, they'll boo. And, to make a wrestling comparison, it's not like the boos that Lesnar gets (where people want to see him lose because they think he's a jerk). It's more like X-Pac heat, where they don't even want to see him fight. Or, in my concrete terms: I have split just about every UFC over the last 4 years with my brother-in-law, best friend, and oldest nephew. I don't know that I could convince them to pitch in money for a Fitch-headed card, regardless of his opponent.
17. I like the way you think and agree with pretty much everything in this post
18. While I realize I'm a sample of one, this definitely applies to me. I decide whether or not to DVR based on the guest host. The more interesting, to me, the guest host, the more likely I am to DVR the show.
19. /nod Of course, it has quickly become apparent that SaySo has nothing of quality to add to any discussion related to the WWE. His contributions are typically limited to "blah blah blah smark"... as if there was something wrong with being critical and vocal about an entertainment product that a consumer once enjoyed.
20. Read: You aren't worth talking to when it comes to Cena. Good to know, I guess.

22. Glad you saw it. Removed it to avoid provoking board drama, as these boards are generally better than that. Just going to make it a point to ignore certain folks here, until they can present their opinions in a more civilized (read: less condescending/arrogant/demeaning) manner.
23. /nod I don't really follow the whole "smark" discussion line, as, at this point in my lfie, I only watch wrestling sporadically (that is, I watch wrestling when my fiance runes late from work - otherwise, we watch House & and then a DVR'ed Heroes)... so, I've seen maybe 3 raws in the last 2 months. Having said that, I've seen Sheamus only a few times now (last night being one of them). Frankly, he's boring (to me). And totally unimpressive (to me). Personally, I'd rather see them push Swagger. But, to each his own.
