  1. WWF PPVs weren't on Sky Box Office in the UK at this point; they were still on Sky Sports. (Other than the UK events.) The switch to Sky Box Office didn't come about until after 2000/01, and even then it was initially just some of the shows.
  2. I've been enjoying reading this diary over the last few months, and just thought I'd comment to let you know. You've managed to keep the general feel of WCW in this time period, even while doing things quite differently at times. Rooting for Scott Steiner at Starrcade. He was one of my favourites in WCW, and his main event push came far too late - even taking his injury issues in 1999 into account - and I like him as a main event babyface.
  3. As a fan of both Impact back to the weekly PPV days and Lucha Underground, this is intriguing. I like how it's started off.
  4. This is one of my favourite diaries to read on here. I like that you're booking things in a fashion that seem like it could actually have happened in WCW at the time, rather than the "Christopher Daniels pushed to the main event within three months" style. It's more challenging to try to play the game this way, but I personally find it more rewarding. Unless someone gets injured or fails a drug test....
  5. I like the idea of Savage working with Booker. Mach could still go at this point, and Booker was ready to progress up the card. Assuming they don't have terrible in-game chemistry and this could really establish Booker T.
  6. In reality this is around the time WCW's main events began to look aged compared to the WWF's, who had fresh faces headlining their shows. So, just out of curiosity, who are the headliners for the Fed just now? Piper couldn't really go by this time in reality but I like how you've booked his turn here. Funnily enough, Piper wanted to work with Raven around late 98/99 as he was an early mentor of his. Was willing to go so far as letting Raven bring up his prior drug abuse and his trouble childhood. Just throwing that out there....
  7. <p>Glad Savage wasn't kicked out. He could still go in the ring at this point until getting injured then coming back far too roided up; can still be of value. Bagwell has potential but doesn't need to be in the nWo and they don't need him.</p><p> </p><p> Interesting that you ditched the Dudley name. I'm sure Bully Ray has said Heyman promised them the trademarks and he didn't know until leaving WWE that they'd been sold to Vince in 2001. Not sure they'd even have been trademarked in '98.</p>
  8. When I read Savage submitted I expected there to be a handshake between The Hitman and Macho Man. With Hogan seemingly quitting, Bischoff being kicked out and now Savage, Hennig, Bagwell and Norton out, the nWo has essentially been cut in half. Hoping this isn't leading to nWo Wolfpac vs. nWo Hollywood...
  9. Main Event: Steel Cage Match Curt Hennig vs Nature Boy Ric Flair - I could see Hennig remaining in the nWo due to his legitimate friendships with Nash, Hogan and Syxx, but logically Flair should get his revenge here. Bret “Hitman” Hart vs Macho Man Randy Savage - I don't think Bret necessarily loses clean here, but I don't think he's hurt by a loss so long as there's some skulduggery, and there's surely money in a feud between the two rather than just one match. The Giant vs Kevin Nash - If this match was happening a few months later I could see Nash losing, getting kicked out of the nWo and turning babyface. He was the second biggest babyface behind Goldberg for WCW in 1998. But this is too soon, and the comment from Hall just seems to be adding intrigue. Scott Hall vs Larry Zbyszko - Hall should win this one, especially when he's next up for Sting. Raven’s Rules Match for the WCW United States Championship Saturn vs Diamond Dallas Page - It's far too soon to move Saturn away from Raven, but this should still give him a chance to showcase himself against a top star. WCW Cruiserweight Championship Chavo Guerrero, Jr. vs WCW Cruiserweight Champion Eddie Guerrero WCW World Tag Team Championship Vicious & Delicious vs WCW World Tag Team Champions The Steiner Brothers - I think losing Hennig, Bagwell and Norton in one night would be too much, and Bagwell still had potential back then. Don't expect Scott to turn just yet, but can see a miscommunication costing them the match. Or Scott getting them disqualified. Raven’s Rules Grudge Tag Team Match Riggs & Sick Boy of Raven’s Nest vs Chris Benoit & Steve “Mongo” McMichael - Should be a victory for the former Horsemen, but I'm interested in seeing whether Riggs and Sick Boy have any chemistry as a team.
  10. <p>I like the name Kings of Wrestling - though it always reminds me of the TNA faction with Jarrett and Hall & Nash.</p><p> </p><p> WCW United States Heavyweight Championship</p><p> <strong>Stunning Steve Austin</strong> vs. “Guardian Angel” Bubba Rogers w/Dusty Rhodes</p><p> Comments: I can see a DQ victory for Austin here, perhaps with Pillman coming to his aid post-match.</p><p> </p><p> WCW World Tag Team Championship</p><p> <strong>The Road Warriors</strong> w/Dusty Rhodes vs. The Rock ‘n Roll Express</p><p> Comments: This would be a fun match; Road Warriors being the relentless bad-ass heels, and Morton being the ultimate babyface. I'd love to see a RnR win, but Warriors have stronger foes in the Steiners and Heat to contend with.</p><p> </p><p> Hakushi w/Sonny Onoo vs. <strong>Cactus Jack</strong></p><p> Comments: Big fan of Shinzaki, but I'm predicting a win for Cactus here.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>“Total Package” Lex Luger</strong> vs. Shanghai Pierce</p><p> Comments: Should be a squash; Luger is coming off a bit of a bomb of a run in the WWF, and some squash victories would help to re-establish him...</p><p> </p><p> <strong>The Armstrong Brothers</strong> w/Col. Robert Parker vs. Scott and Steve Armstrong</p><p> Comments: Victory for the brothers Armstrong either way here.....</p><p> </p><p> Stars ‘n Stripes, “Das Wunderkind” Alex Wright & Johnny B. Badd w/Teddy Long and Belle Libritis vs. <strong>The Heavenly Bodies & The Shooters w/Larry Zbyszko</strong></p><p> Comments: I've got to be honest, I'm not too keen on the tag team name of "The Shooters"; Storm never, ever struck me as someone that you could apply that tag to; a good wrestler, sure, and I don't doubt that he could handle himself, but I can remember plenty of matches where his offence looked too light. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> I've been following this diary from the start, along with a few other real life diaries; usually read on my phone and I'm never logged into the forums - my PC has my password stored! - but you've been doing a good job here. It's similar to the real life nWo 'invasion' - without The Outsiders, obviously - but the babyfaces haven't been as completely buried as they were in reality. </p><p> </p><p> Plus the possibilities with Austin and Pillman.....</p>
