  1. Welcome to the community (and game), cthn429. It's always good to see people new to Wrestling Spirit. Files sent.

Just to let the newer people know: I believe someone recently mentioned that move commentary sound files were not included in the latest retail versions of Wrestling Spirit. I'm not positive that is true, as my retail version is older - but if it so happens to be the case, go to Ryland's CornellVerse Site - the Sound Files are in the Downloads section.

Once you snag them, you'll want to throw the wave files into the Program Files/GDS/Wrestling Spirit/Data/Default/Sound directory, as well as the /Wrestling Spirit/Data/Territories/Sound folder.

If you already have the sound files, ignore this rambling. :)

  2. I appreciate the compliments, gents.

I did try to soup up the AI, Ransik (nice to see you, btw - I remember you from the .400 forums), as I felt that it should be a challenge to fight a match - especially against quality opponents. One of the things I'm most proud of in this data (besides the taunts and such) is that the end game is much more dangerous. If you are not on your toes - and using every bit of Fighting Spirit you have, the AI will pull off some impressive wins.

Anyway - thanks for the interest! :)

  3. I set many of the bigger name wrestlers as static heel or faces in v3.4 (doing more for the next update), but a lot of them can go either way. To be honest, though, I'm not sure there's much that can be done about bottom of the card booking.

The best example I can give is of the current World Class set up. If you pay attention to the booking, you'll notice that the top of the cards (Main Event down to the midcard) is fine - but the opening matches often feature some odd combinations of Von Erichs v. Freebirds. You'll see Kerry and Gordy v. Kevin and Hayes - or Hayes and Roberts v. Kevin and Gordy matches - or even Kerry v. Kevin!

Now... if you look at how each wrestler is set up, you'll see that they shouldn't be getting booked as such - yet do. Kerry is a Good face / Weak heel - same with Kevin; Hayes, Gordy, and Roberts are the exact opposite: Weak face / Good heel. So why do they get booked in odd mismatches? Who knows, heh. All I know is that I sure as heck can not wait for the revamped booking engine in the next Wrestling Spirit. ;)

Until then, I try to blink it away as some crazed mirror universe. Either that, or really drunk bookers.

And it's funny you mention a 70s. :) I'm putzing about in converting DOTT to a DOTT: Legends data set. I really wasn't sure if anyone was interested, but I've been wanting to throw the starting date to 1970 (or something), add in a ton of legends, rearrange the birth dates of younger guys from the 80s so that they would be playable (Road Warriors, Jake Roberts, etc.), add in a bunch of old-time promotions (Detroit, Shire's Big Time out of San Francisco, Dick the Bruiser's WWA, etc.), then scale everything to pre-cable days where only a handful of superstars have 75-80 Overness.

Might make for an interesting set. Seeing a primed Bruno Sammartino v. a heeled out Hulk Hogan might be a heck of a lot of fun. Or a more active Buddy Rogers v. Ric Flair in a Battle of Nature Boys. :)

Again, I wasn't sure of the interest - so I was going to do it for myself. If you want to check it out when I get it shaped up, keep in touch and I'll share it with you.

I want to get DOTT v3.5 done first, but after that I'd like to move on to something else. This Legends set might be a lot of fun.

  4. Just to let anyone interested know:

I am currently at work on the latest update (v3.5). With it, I decided to set the starting date of the scenario to Feb. 1984. I have several reasons for doing this, but the main one would be the Birth of Hulkamania.

While the WWF would often sign Hogan from the AWA, it just never seemed right without Piper, Dr. D., Mean Gene, etc; therefore, I am picking up right after Hogan wins the WWF Heavyweight title.

    Thanks for the continued interest.

  5. Files sent, theaddicane & dscatx. Hope you enjoy it!

And thanks, Dwight. I had to tweak out Sabu's set, heh; I knew you had a diary going with him and aimed to get him more in-line. Heck, you were one of the first people to dig this scenario - one of your favorite wrestlers deserved to be as close as I could get them (well, everyone's favorites deserve the same respect - but not many favorites are Farhat's nephew ;) ).

  6. Files sent, LBJ23 & sttfrk.

As spam bots are known to infiltrate message boards, I strongly suggest to anyone interested enough to jot down their email address that they somehow mask the address, much like sttfrk and bplotkin did.

Just throw in a bakerNOSPAM@blahcrappo.com - or something along those lines. It might take me an extra second or two to shave the 'NOSPAM' off - but it will help protect you from the bots.

I've also begun work on v3.5. Update progress will be logged in the first post of this thread - for those interested.

    Take care.

  7. Just an update for anyone interested:

I've answered all requests for the scenario this evening (whew!), sending out the data to everyone that PM'ed me - or left their email in this thread.

With the recent reopening of the Kayfabe Memories Forum (as well as having just received some excellent World Class & Memphis DVDs), I have been able to pick back up in my research of this scenario. I fully expect a DOTT v3.5 as a result.

The bad thing is... I'll have to wait until I resend my heatsink impaired machine back into Gateway, and then they return the darned thing (for the second time!). Until then, I'll be back out of commission for another two weeks - at least as far as sending out the data to those interested.

Thanks for the interest, apologies for the delay, and never buy a Gateway computer! ;)

  8. Just to let anyone interested know, I am currently awaiting the return of my computer from Gateway's service center. As I am using a 7 year old backup machine without a working CD drive (heh), I am unable to send out the DOTT data to those wanting it.

I am hoping to have my computer returned within the next few days - or whenever Gateway gets around to it. :) Once it does get here, though, I will send out the data to all that requested it.

Thanks - and apologies for the hassle.

  9. The only thing I can think is that the DOTT folder is 'within a folder'.

If you open up your /GDS/Wrestling Spirit/Data directory, you should see 2 folders: Default and DOTT (or Territories). Open up the DOTT one... as soon as you open it, do you see the 11 .fis files, 2 text docs, and Belts/Logos/etc folders? Or do you find another DOTT folder?

If you found another DOTT folder, that's the problem.

Let me know if that works for you.

  10. Drop me a PM with your email address, toojerm. I'll send all the scenario pictures out to you.

As I have mentioned in the first post of this thread, I'm still in the process of deciding if I want to fork out a hundred bucks for webspace (after the bad experience with the last provider). Until then, I have to use the 'old fashioned' way. :)
