  2. EDIT: Nevermind, found it. The title changed somehow; I think it was a thread merge or something.
  3. I've always said Remy Skye was Jeff Hardy without the popularity that let him have second and third chances. I'm a little surprised that, for having an integrated product, the women on the roster are either rookies or non-wrestlers. You'd think they'd've brought in someone to replace J-Ro and Miss Mexico as 'popular veteran female' to help out. Which means I know what I'm going to do... Also, a moment of silence (well, regret) for Fox Mask. Poor guy never got to Japan or made it big like he deserved, and is going to be forced out of the head booker role by anyone playing CZCW. Guy just can't catch a break.
  4. ... best. Bio addition. Ever. "Nowadays Williams lives in rural Idaho, so apparently he's either forgiven the entire state or is working to punish it from the inside."
  5. <p>Fox Mask... *sniffle*</p><p> </p><p> At least he didn't get Nemesis-ed.</p>
  6. Ah, Coastal Zone Combat Wrestling. Or is it Championship? It depends on how old you are, I guess. Even 'the old guard' call it Championship now. So, what exactly is CZCW? CZCW has been called many things. Upstart. Modern. Overhyped. Destined for greatness. Destined for failure. When the world was enjoying Big Men Hitting Each Other, they pioneered 'Normal Men Flipping Around'. Unfortunately, when it started getting popular, others took the idea and did it better. They've done multiple groundbreaking things -- 'importing' lucha and Japanese talent to the US, treating inter-gender matches as no different than any other -- but every time something becomes 'the next big idea', other companies grab it and make it their own. CZCW is part of the Confederation Of The Territories (COTT), alongside Mid-Atlantic Wrestling (MAW), New York City Wrestling (NYCW), Invincible Pro Wrestling (ICW), and Original Lucha Libre Is Eternal (OLLIE). They have earned the nickname 'The Eternal Indy' by never falling so far they need to fight to survive, but never thriving enough to really be something bigger. CZCW is where young wrestlers go to make names for themselves, and older wrestlers go to show they still have what it takes. --------------------------------------- And now, a lot of work that might be for nothing. Why? I'll tell you later. The Staff Cliff Anderson, owner and announcer, is one of the few 'genuine good people' in the wrestling business. He founded the company, and his personality is why so many have trusted the Zone to do something for their career. Fox Mask, former star of CZCW who -- despite trying -- never made it big anywhere else. Currently head booker, occasional color commentator, occasional road agent. Pee-Wee Germaine, senior referee and merchandise maven. Everyone loves him. The Guru, color commentator. Former wrestler, former big-league manager, former CZCW booker. Dylan Sidle, former wrestler who became CZCW's road agent thirteen years ago after a bad concussion. Quincy Jargon, wrestling fan and rookie referee. The Stars Frankie 'P-Dawg' Perez, innovator of stiff striking; feels old with all these damn kids around. Current CZCW Champion. Masked Cougar, the living personification of the Zone's blend of American, Lucha, and Puro. "The Priest of Pain" Pablo Rodriguez, lucha vet and former head booker of SOTBPW before new ownership forced him out. Current COTT Champion. The American Cobras (Marvel Malloy and Storm Spillane), one of the busiest tag teams on the indy scene. Best friends since childhood, current COTT World Tag Champs. "Mr. Submission" Al Coleman, a former midcarder, he made it to the main event by outlasting all the other options -- and then made the most of it. American Flash, a smallish luchadore who overcame the odds to become a champion The Others The Well-Known: Notorious (Carlos Barerra & Miguel Riviara), CZCW Tag Champs and brawlers. The Wildcats (El Jaguar & Tigre Salvaje Jr), lucha tag team that also works for CILL. Frankie-Boy Fernandez, the home-grown CZCW-For-Life talent ready for the next phase of his career. "Birdman" Matt Sparrow, first wrestler to start blogging, never really connected with the fans, is now probably too old to ever hit the big time. Brittney Hollywood, manager for the American Cobras, and dating one of them. The Recognizable: Inner City Express (Jay Becker & Malik Cash), a dominant tag team in Canada that can be somewhat sloppy. "CLM" California Love Machine, another home-grown talent and former/sometimes partner of Frankie-Boy. "Californian" Chet Chavez, another home-grown talent who isn't as good as he wants to be. "Chairman" Simon Waves, see note for Chet Chavez, also his new tag team partner. Willow, their manager and company seamstress. Heartbreaker, a luchador looking for his last shot at fame. "Dirty Dog" Jonnie Perez, P-Dawg's little brother who tries way, way too hard sometimes. Waylon Walls, a decent brawler who doesn't stand out. The Unimportant (... ouch!) : Bullseye, charismatic but sloppy, and Walls' new partner. Air Raid Syren, graceful rookie. "Sinner" Amy St. James, technical rookie. Ellie DeGrazia, suplexing rookie. Eureka LaBella, technical flying rookie (and also, unlike the last three, male -- the name fooled me at first too). "Dread Pirate" Hugh deAske, Canadian all-arounder who works for pretty much everyone and current CZCW Xtreme Champion. Juliet Balconi, up-and-coming actress. Kira Lee, devastating striking rookie. Onslaught, zone-trained luchadore. Skye Hermosa, gifted technical-flier ready to grow. Swipe Romero, luchadore who paid his dues and is ready for more. Tony deWonderful, young throwback wrestler with no personality. "Magic Monkey" Zel Quinn, flying rookie with unlimited potential. --------------------------------------------- In conclusion, CZCW is right where it does best: A few old hands and a lot of youngsters looking to make names for themselves. In the right hands, yet another generation of stars will be able to say they came from the Zone. ... in the right hands... Of course, all this could change. Why? Because who wants to live through the first few months of 2020 -again-? It was bad enough the first time! We're starting in January of 2021! ... which means the only post between now and the game actually going on sale will be a quick recap of what's happened in January and February, and quite possibly some of those people I typed out summaries for won't be there anymore, but hey, that's the price you pay for such an innovative dynasty technique like simming an entire year before taking over as booker...
  7. They say this business takes a toll on you. Not just your body -- lord knows I never got in the ring myself -- but mentally. The planning, the curveballs, the straight-up crisis after constant crisis... I had had enough. I had moved across the country, had a kid, gotten married, gone bankrupt, changed jobs so many times, gotten separated, then divorced... I had passed my breaking point, lapped it, and passed it again. Life demanded too much time and attention and something had to give. So I left. And never looked back. Until that one fateful day he knocked on my door. I hadn't expected him, of all people -- although the green hair, white facepaint, and purple suit were a nice homage, I felt -- and I certainly wasn't expecting him to hold out a simple scrap of scribbled-on paper. "I think you and I are destined to do this forever," he said, somehow adding a bit of childish sing-songing to the quote that made it feel almost threatening. Against my better judgement, I took the offered paper and read the scribbles. I'm pleased to officially announce that my next game with Grey Dog Software will be Total Extreme Wrestling 2020, it read. "Ryland, you son of a bitch. I'm in." Welcome to the Coastal Zone.
  8. <p>The same thing we do every game, Pinky...</p><p> </p><p> ...</p><p> </p><p> Welcome...</p>
  9. Also, let's not forget these guys are working together in there -- having a smaller 'moveset' means the guys you work with don't have to know how to sell everything under the sun, or the correct position to be in to start or end twenty-five different transitional moves, or how to escape a dozen submission without making it look bad. If you get told, "Hey, plans changed, we need you to job to Cena tonight," well, you know what you're in for and what moves to remember you need to help with what you need to sell. Get told "You're facing Spot Monkey tonight" and you've got no idea what crazy **** he's going to try to work into the match...
  10. You forgot 'punch'. And Cena does have a mean dropkick when he decides to bust it out. So, I don't give the writers enough credit to try this, but what if they tried to make this into a "Which era was better" thing? During the match, Rocky starts busting out Stunners, Pedigrees, and a Mandible Claw... Cena uses a Skull-Crushing Finale, Del Rio's armbar, and the Go2Sleep. ... okay, maybe that wouldn't be as cool as it sounded before I started typing it...
  11. Y'know, after all these years, I'd love to see someone completely random win the Rumble. Just because someone needs to 'Billy Gunn' the Rumble.
  12. Yeah, definately did not see that coming. Giving A&8s a 'voice' is going to go a long way towards making them a serious threat.
  13. And now, InfinityWPI Does More Fantasy Booking! WWE Royal Rumble: Using underhanded methods, Punk cheats to defeat The Rock. Possibly with SHIELD interference. It's a huge shock. The SHIELD are in the Royal Rumble match as well. All three are in the ring, working together, as number 29 is drawn... and it's John Cena. Cena tries to rally the troops, but the SHIELD's teamwork lets them pick people off easily. Number 30 hits... and it's Rocky. Rock and Cena combined take out The Shield, and then have a staredown, a five-ten minute match, with Rocky winning. The next night on Raw, Rocky declares that at Wrestlemania, it'll be him and Punk, for the title... but to keep the SHIELD out, it'll be a cage match. I don't know if I like it better than my "SHIELD vs Ryback/Rock/Punk Elimination Chamber" idea... but this one lets Punk get a win over Rock, hold the title for a few more months, and lets Rocky be the first person (I think) to be in a World Title match at the Rumble and then go on to win The Rumble itself.
  14. I swear, I'll mark so hard if the title match at Royal Rumble ends with The Shield taking them both out and stealing the title. The Shield vs Rock/Punk/Ryback at Elimination Chamber would be hella fun. Bonus points if Ziggler wins the Rumble and says, "You know what, I've already got Money in the Bank. For the main event of Wrestlemania, I'm winning a title you can only win once... I'm going to break The Streak." And then before Ziggler vs Undertaker, he cashes in Money in the Bank to take the title off Del Rio and wears it to the ring against Undertaker. ... but then, I'm not a booker for a reason.
  15. I think they -think- they're doing "Nobody can beat Cena... but look at Ziggler! He can go so damn close! Closer than anybody! That makes him good, een if he keeps losing! Right?" Whether or not they're succeeding is debatable.
  16. So, apparently, the back-of-the-box text for the Royal Rumble 2013 DVD got leaked out. I am a sad, sad Infinitywpi.
  17. Meh. Aries and Roode were already semi-feuding/not on the best of terms to begin with; Gail lost the match the same way she beat Mickie, due to the ref not seeing a body part under the ropes; King and York were already "All but officially feuding" with King ragging on him backstage in promos; Anderson had already joined A&8s on Impact, all this was was spelling it out for people who couldn't see it already; and A&8s beat Joe Park but lost to Sting, which is pretty much what everyone expected. So, yeah, stuff -happened-, but nothing -changed-. And if nothing else, Daniels winning pretty much flat out said "Oh, and Hardy will retain". I find it interesting that they can book Impact so that I want to watch next week and see what happens, so that I want to watch a PPV to see what happens, and then have a PPV where... nothing really happens. A few more plot developments on PPV wouldn't hurt.
  18. From a match perspective, yeah, that was a fun PPV. But there was very little going on storyline-wise. How is Impact next week different from Impact last week? Well... nothing really changed here. No new champions. No plot points. We're getting Hardy / Daniels at some point. That's about it. Still, was a fun show, glad I watched it, but it was like a really action-packed movie that spent all their budget on stunts and not enough on a script. It could have been so much more.
  19. So... Park just needs one more character after this to qualify as 'The New Foley', right?
  20. So, by my count, this is 50 minutes in and we've had all of three matches and not much backstage bullcrap. WWE could learn some lessons.
  21. I gotta say, I'm enjoying the heck out of TNA recently. Even this Bully Ray / Brooke thing, which has train wreck written all over it, is working for me. Can the WWE steal some of their writers? And maybe Bully Ray, Roode, Joe, A-Dub, and Tessmacher?
  22. I liked my booking better. That said... if we get Barrett/Steamboat at Royal Rumble, I'll be happy. Or even on Raw. I mean, it's been a couple years since the last time he wrestled on TV, but he sure seems like he's stayed in shape. Better him than Flair. I also liked "See, he's got you chanting about ice cream just like I did last year!" Between Cena, Ziggler, Rock, and Punk, a lot of promos seemed to be focused on discussing the problems with how other characters are booked. I keep wondering on if the writers are revolting.
  23. The Shield is gonna do a run-in and steal the belt during TLC. And at Royal Rumble, we'll have the 'odd couple' team of Rock, Ryback, and Punk vs The Shield for custody of the title. The Shield retains when Rock, Punk, and Ryback all fail to work together. (This also gives a reason to keep Ryback out of the Rumble so he doesn't have to steamroller everyone or get eliminated.) Which brings us to Elimination Chamber, which is made a title match so The Shield has a chance to legitimately walk out with the title. The Shield starts with an early numbers game, but Mason Ryan being the last man in means every SHIELD member gets eliminated and Punk walks out with the belt -- and, since he was never beaten for the title, he gets to add another 60 or so days onto his title reign. Which takes us to Punk/Rock at Mania. ... At least, that's how I'd book it.
