  1. But this is exactly why TNA doesn't really build new stars, in my opinion. You bring in Nigel McGuiness and put him right into a feud with Kurt Angle. That's big. Then what are they going to follow it up with? He gets less TV time than the Nasty Boys here. That can't be a good sign. After they did the same thing with both Morgan and Hernandez. You push workers in a position to elevate them and don't....

Exactly. From what I've seen, the Nigel/Angle feud was great, and despite not coming out on the winning end, Nigel was still put in a position to be a big contributor going forward. And now, he seems to be a complete afterthought. That's a huge waste.

  2. Hogan as a heel leading "his boys" against the young TNA stars would be the natural angle. Not sure why they're going the Hogan as the savior route (i mean TNA fans cheer everyone anyway, so Hogan will still get pops)

They already did something similar with the Main Event Mafia, and it did nothing to elevate the young guys at all.

  3. That was phenomenally stupid.

Wolfe has already proved that the fans love him and he can work with virtually everyone in the main event scene.

He just had two MOTY candidate performances with Angle, and would probably do the same with Daniels, AJ, and Joe...having him lose to Pope on this show... ouch

Yes, that was INCREDIBLY stupid. The Knockouts tag match aside, this show has been pretty bad from what I've seen (didn't see much of the Hogan promo because I switched over to see Bret.)

  4. I'm actually going to defend this comment a bit. We smarks (term used with love) tend to watch wrestling from the back-seat-booker armchair, we look for 'strong builds' we worry about 'drawing' and 'star quality' and all sorts of stuff that never even enters the mind of a mark (term used with love).

To a mark, I'm sure Sheamus makes a lot of sense. He's a surprise, sure. He's a guy who has shown up and, through logical means, become champion. Maybe in the back of their subconscious something doesn't feel 'right', but I'm sure they don't dwell on it. To a smark, the Sheamus thing sticks out because we wouldn't have booked it this way. It's not the 'normal' way to do things, so it's 'wrong'.

RAW is very much easier to watch without your smark lenses on. Most wrestling is. If you watch with your heart and not your head, it's always easier to get emotionally invested in the action.

Does anyone actually think about stuff like 'drawing' and 'star quality' while watching the show? Seems like it would suck all the fun out of watching in the first place. I might sit back and think about stuff like that after the fact, but while I'm watching, I just want to be entertained.

That's because i have nothing negative to say about the WWE. Status Quo Yo.

    /nod

Nothing wrong with not having anything negative to say. If you're enjoying it, great. But that doesn't automatically make someone who feels differently a smark.

  5. Judging by their matches against each other in WCW, I'd say there's a pretty noticeable size difference between Ultimo and Rey. But I guess it wouldn't be quite as noticeable with just Rey out there, without the real Ultimo to compare/contrast. I give you points for cleverness and figuring out a way to salvage your storyline...and also for not re-doing the show to avoid the injury in the first place. As the Briscoes would say, way to Man Up :).
