  1. I'm doing much better in my second playthrough where I added feuds for Crippler vs ZWB, Gilmore vs Atom Smasher and Morgan vs Starr (and the Rat Pack). All of those are without storylines at the outset but are considered stars (or at worst well-known). Put your top guys in storylines and your angles and matches will get better.
  2. While I don't think this thread was directly in response to me, it does address a post of mine (http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2412313&postcount=82). I had an idea where I'd buy the DAVE Unified title and have it defended under 'hardcore' rules for workers that had a high hardcore rating. Then I scrapped it after I realized SWF audiences wouldn't like hardcore matches. I would probably put myself in the Power Gamer category - I'll not book a feud or match if it won't get me a good rating or will not fit my audience's preferences, which is why I don't want to do a hardcore division. However, my reasoning (in this instance) is that I don't want a belt defended on a regular basis using rules that my audience won't like. Besides, a wild, violent brawl can be just that without being a 'hardcore' match, and it opens the title/division up to many more workers. All that being said, D-Lyrium made some excellent points - ones I will take seriously.
  3. I never do these, but why not? I love Eisen-verse's diaries. Randy Unleashed vs ZWB James Prudence vs Lenny Brown Des Davids vs Oliver Kobb High Flyin' Hawiian vs Paul Huntingdon The Crippler vs Steven Parker Rocky Golden & Valiant vs Remo & Rogue
  4. What is everybody doing in terms of broadcasting/coverage? Makes sense to get on PPV in Mexico right away right? I'm not sure what to do about creating your own network. It looks much cheaper to do one this year than 2020, but in order to get into more areas (Japan, UK, Europe, etc...), you have to run at a loss for awhile. Any good strategies out there? I've noticed through a couple of playthroughs that putting TV shows on your network destroys your TV ratings, but CANN didn't seem to care since I got an 85.
  5. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="kieranforthewin" data-cite="kieranforthewin" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47503" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Imagine my surprise when I did a steel cell match between Rocky & Scythe in my first ever save and got that note aha. I enjoy that idea especially as I normally turn Parker heel(although maybe not this year since the roster is awfully heel-heavy)</div></blockquote><p> Wow - I guess the Steel Cell's high injury risk is why the audience didn't like it. Need to keep that in mind if/when I have that match. Need to reduce the injury risk on that one.</p>
  6. Man, I had an idea that I really liked that isn't going to work (at least not as I envisioned it). I was going to bring in Phil Vibert, purchase the DAVE Unified title and have it be defended under hardcore rules. Have my workers that have a high hardcore attribute vie for it, and use it to turn Steven Parker and give him a big push (Vibert was going to take Parker under his wing and make him more 'hardcore' and bloodthirsty). Until I was testing and realized that the SWF audience won't like hardcore matches. Oh well. I guess I could tweak it so it would be good for brawlers and have them fight 'wild brawl' matches.
  7. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Eisen-verse" data-cite="Eisen-verse" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47503" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>As it stands currently, 'Area Battle' preference is set to 'Stars' (meaning you are only looking at who has bigger stars in which to see who is winning the battle). That said, would it be more realistic to set it as 'combined' (focusing on stars AND show results for the month)? My thinking is, yes, it matters who your stars are but if you're booking them in crap then you're not really creating compelling TV (meaning that you're pulling your fans in). <p> </p><p> <em><strong>What does everyone think?</strong></em></p></div></blockquote><p> I'm changing it to combined because I believe it's more realistic as well. I completely agree with your reasoning.</p>
  8. I see your point, but I look at it from the perspective of my golden era of wrestling - the late 1980s - where payoffs would be the beatdown of the manager (Heenan) after the match or a weasel suit match, which is just an extended beat down anyway. The manager would just use that for fuel in his next feud.
  9. I haven't used it yet but I probably will. I prebooked a lot in 2016, mostly for organization and to get it out of the way in advance, but if there's a boost involved, I'll use it just to help myself succeed.
  10. I'm toying with the idea of having Scythe piss someone off in the build up (I put all PPVs at the end of the month so I have more time to build initially), have that person interfere in the match and start a new feud with Scythe from there. Scythe will win the feud and maybe loop back around for another title shot with Golden down the line.
  11. When I played TEW 2005, I included backstage interviewers in segments, and since there wasn't a minimum length of a segment for a worker to gain popularity, the interviewer would eventually gain enough pop so they wouldn't tank a segment. Now, if you're going to play realistically, where a backstage interview takes no more than 2 minutes, it doesn't make sense to me to include an interviewer. As such, I just have a worker (with any supplemental workers) rated on entertainment/microphone.
  12. I would think Remo vs Golden should be saved for Supreme Challenge. Maybe Golden fends off all of Eisen's challengers -- Rogue, Spade, Starr -- and as a last gasp, Eisen recruits Remo? A match between your two biggest stars needs to be saved for your biggest show.
  13. I do like that part. Establish a stable with the intention of taking Golden out, since Golden 'retired' Bruce. It would obviously work in the game, but in my head, having a legend like that come back as a heel is sketchy, because I don't think the crowd would let them be a heel. But as long as I push that nagging thought into the outer recesses of my mind...
  14. He would, but ~$113,000/month is a little steep for a manager! (Although now that I look at it, he'd be MUCH cheaper on a PPA contract.) But if I pulled the trigger, there's the decision of making him a heel stable manager, that probably wouldn't work well IRL due to his legend status (crowd wouldn't buy it), or making him a face manager to do battle with maybe commissioner/authority Eric Eisen? On another note WRT Bruce, I fell to medium size as I'm just messing around with the new game mechanics, and I'm not big enough to hire him!
  15. I'm looking for potential hires to be mouthpieces for stables. Canonically, would Sam Keith not accept a job from SWF, seeing that he owns MAW, which is in a friendly/developmental relationship with TCW? The good talkers with at least 50 pop in the USA: American Buffalo Jack Bruce Joanne Rodriguez Ricky Dale Johnson Ross Henry Sam Keith Skull DeBones Other than maybe Ross Henry, none of those really seem to fit what I'm looking for based off of their history/recent experience.
  16. Four minutes. I'm not saying I was expecting an 85, but based on my experience in 2016, Eisen (who is at 74 pop) with his entertainment skills should/would have gotten in the 70s. You could be right though. Maybe 2020 has a new grading system that I need to get used to?
  17. I haven't been putting my full effort into it, but my grades haven't been great either, and I fell to medium after the first PPV (I don't have enough good storylines going, but I shouldn't since I don't have Gilmore, Crippler or Starr doing anything). I had Eric Eisen come out and book a match between Davids and Brown (all 3 in angle) and it only got a 68, and with the new "there wasn't anything happening in the angle" penalty now, a postmatch staredown between Golden and #1 contender Joey Morgan got a 62. Anybody tried different combinations to simulate that without doing Entertainment or Fighting?
  18. Does the addition of the "Squash Master" attribute mean they are the only ones that get pop gains from matches where they "dominate" or just an added bonus? I did a squash with someone who had over 72 charisma and didn't see a bump.
  19. I had a legacy stable in 2016 with Starr, the Gauge/Keith brothers and Faith, with Starr as the anchor, that I loved. With Gauge/Keith off the market, I was bummed that I couldn't do that again. But I forgot about SoVen, Diaz and Dreadnaught. Now I'll have to find a way for Starr to drop Trescarde, Huntingdon and Sensitive without them turning face. Maybe an 8-man tag with a breakup stipulation?
  20. Looks really good! I appreciate the effort and work you've put into it.
  21. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="dalton0911" data-cite="dalton0911" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41411" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Most important of all, you don't HAVE to book a ton of tour shows. If you want to book 1 tour show a week, go ahead. You won't lose out on THAT much money. For HONOUR, UPJ, DIASPORA, etc. ticket sales come from the big shows. PPV money is no joke either. Tour shows are only there to build towards a big show, so if you want to keep the "canon" in your head or something and not actually book it, then hey do what you want, it is your game.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I've thought about this and will consider it heavily after my first tour. The main reason I did three house shows per week was because my rivals (UPJ & DIASPORA) do FOUR shows a week and I wanted to try to stay on a similar level, especially considering my prestige is so much lower than theirs (and that only goes up with every show, hence needing more shows per week).</p><p> </p><p> However, if it means I'll enjoy the game more, I don't need to try and 'win the game' -- just play the way I want.</p><p> </p><p> Right now my schedule is two three-month (Feb-Apr, Aug-Oct) tours, with two one-month (June, Dec) tournaments. I might need to change that up as well.</p><p> </p><p> I've also consulted cagematch for ideas - since HONOUR is supposedly modeled after NOAH, I've used them, as well as NJPW.</p>
  22. <p>@dalton0911 I tried to dip my toes in the puro waters for the first time by using HONOUR. However, I found booking three “house shows” a week (with few angles) incredibly repetitive and I got rather bored with it before I even got started (I book all of my shows three months in advance). </p><p> </p><p> Seeing your methodology might help ignite a spark again, but I’m not hopeful.</p>
  23. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Derek B" data-cite="Derek B" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41194" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Younger workers are more likely to be able to successfully change size (meaning positive stat gains/good body types) while also being more likely to simply improve naturally too. Older workers are less likely to succeed and are also more likely to become flabby or less muscular over time too. A worker on steroids is also more likely to put on muscle while workers who smoke/drink/do drugs etc are more likely to end up out of shape too. But as with anything, there is an element of chance an no guarantees of success or failure... though I wouldn't give you much chance of having a 50 year old becoming Ripped. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> That's good info to know, but I guess the crux of my question is, if I were to do the size increase again *within the same game*, will I get the same results? I made a copy of my save and tried the size increase thing just to see what would happen. If I took that same save and did those four workers again, would the same two fail and succeed or is it completely random each time?</p><p> </p><p> PS - All four workers were relatively young. The two it worked on were 32 and 30, and the ones it didn't were 27 and 25.</p>
  24. Do size increase requests work the same way every time for every worker? I did a test just to see what categories were affected, and two of the four workers ended up flabby or obese (it worked as intended for the other two). Will this happen each time with these workers or is it random how it ends up?
  25. As far as increasing charisma, I do it the way you do it and it works fine. I've seen people increase their star quality but it's rare (from what I've seen) and I don't know how to it, other than making them go up in size.
