  1. But when he left WWE, he did *not* go by his real name in an attempt to disconnect himself from wrestling... on the contrary, he kept using "The Rock" as his name in movie credits when he first started out in Hollywood. The change to "Dwayne Johnson" came later.
  2. I don't get it. The Rock has said numerous times that he won't ever wrestle again. It's not even 2 weeks since the last interview I read with him where he said that. So untill The Rock vs. John Cena is actually properly announced as a real match (and not some stupid face off in words), I won't hold my breath. But even if they do wrestle, I fear a bit that The Rock will put John Cena over as a sort of "passing of the torch"... and I really really don't want to see Cena beat The Rock. At any rate, this should make sure they'll get a ****load of sales for Wrestlemania - with or without Sting. Though Sting being my all-time favourite wrestler, I'd still love to see that.
  3. An armbar may not be the most spectacular finisher, but at least it's a lot more credible than most WWE finishers. Like Rey's 619, for example, which may look good but makes little sense and looks like it only tickles the nose of the opponent.
  4. After having watched the Royal Rumble last night, I decided to youtube a couple of Alberto Del Rio matches (as I had seen him in pictures only prior to the Rumble). While he didn't really impress me hugely wrestling-wise in the few select matches I saw, I'd say his awesome facial expressions alone makes him deserve to headline Wrestlemania. To make it really interesting, though, they'd probably have to let Rey win the belt from Edge first.
  5. I loved the part when Vince called Bruno Sammartino on hating him because he fired his son. Not that I'm taking Vince's side here, but Bruno wasn't exactly the most objective choice to bring in as an expert...
  6. Sure, that Christmas Monster thing was a horrible gimmick... but in Lawler's defense, I've seen both WWF and WCW do worse (like the Mantaur and the Yeti).
  7. He probably just had it in his luggage which is not uncommon for an airline to misplace from time to time. Sure, Jeff is a drughead - but do we know this was actually his fault?
  8. Had this happened during the 90's, they would have done this. But these days, there doesn't seem to be any patience in wrestling... it all has to happen with an insane pace. The fact that the Nexus storyline has even been around this long is a huge shocker to me. I would have expected Barrett to have both won and lost the title again months ago.
  9. Did it ever get revealed who the "secret evil GM" was...? I thought it was supposed to be Triple H, but if he's coming back to feud with a heel Sheamus...
  10. Lack of success? He's a 4 times WCW World Heavyweight Champion and a 2 times WWF World Heavyweight Champion. And he won both World War 3 and King of The Ring during his career as well. I'd say he was pretty successfull, though I agree that he was a little too often given backseat roles to make way for far less impressive performers.
  11. I think a mouthpiece like Heyman could do wonders for Joe. It's a shame they don't really use him, I really like him. I've always been fond of big men who could actually wrestle, like Vader and Bam Bam.
  12. Well, I couldn't find it anywhere but their official webpage...
  13. Ordering such stuff from USA would be a bitch for me. But I can easily imagine those two being funny together (never actually saw anything they've done).
  14. Hilarious stuff, especially the second one. I had no idea the guy was that funny.
  15. Joe Hennig needs to go by the name 'Joe Hennig'. I really don't get what's up with WWE and lots of stupid, stupid names these days. Especially not when we're dealing with a third generation wrestler who's real name has a lot of name value.
  16. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Self" data-cite="Self" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="25169" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I dug it. I try not to get involved with 'who is a good wrestler' or 'who has good psychology' debates, because so much of it is subjective and down to taste.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> This is true. I'm not saying that Orton has great wrestling skills or anything (though I personally don't see the huge fuss about his supposed lack of skills, but nevermind that), I'm just saying that I'm always entertained by him. I've actually liked him ever since I first saw him (which was back when he just turned babyface for the first time and feuded with Evolution), and I think he has constantly gotten better ever since. Especially during the last year or so.</p><p> </p><p> Granted, I don't watch a lot of wrestling these days - I just catch a bit here and there.</p>
  17. Am I the only one who is high on Orton both inside and outside of the ring...?
  18. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="MasterJ" data-cite="MasterJ" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="25169" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Cena turns on his team joing nxtus thats why he picked up the arm band at the end of MITB. I'm calling it:)</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> But why not just have him join them at last RAW? It really makes no storyline sense to have him bother gathering a team to betray first. I really can't see in any way how it would fit Cena's character to do so, either.</p><p> </p><p> Besides, the storyline needs to have revealed some kind of mastermind behind it all. And that cannot logically be Cena, since he kept being a target of theirs.</p>
  19. They'll probably to do a "Bash of the Beach 1996" with Triple H instead of Hogan.
  20. Although not in an actual title match, Mr. Kennedy lost his briefcase after winning it.
  21. I agree with you in principle, but Miz and Jericho kayfabe being unable to go to Smackdown and mess with Big Show is the whole reason for them teaming up. Miz said directly "but Big Show is on Smackdown and we're both on RAW, so there's nothing we can do about it" to which Jericho replied that he "had a plan" or something like that - so, to me at least, it's pretty clear that the plan is for them to become unified tag champs so they can go on both brands as they please. Also, the Batista thing can be kayfabe explained by him being Vince McMahon's henchman and thus allowed greater freedom than most (though it of course does not explain why people like Undertaker and Shawn Michaels also did it).
  22. Jericho and Miz needs the belts as a way to go to Smackdown so they can mess with Big Show, that's the whole purpose of their alliance. I see no way for the Hart Dynasty to retain.
  23. I just watched the last episode of RAW, it was surprisingly good. Jericho and Miz together as unified tag team champions so they can get to Smackdown and beat on Big Show can only be good, based on the involved people. Orton vs. Edge came off to a good start. Ted DiBiase looks promising as a singles star. Cena will obviously choose a career vs. title match as stipulation against Batista, after which he'll feud with Sheamus again. Can't care much about that, but I expect Sheamus to take the belt after which Triple H comes back and feuds with him for it. John Morrison looks like someone who could make it big time, preferably without R-Truth. With such an exciting and stacked lineup at RAW, they just need to get rid of the dreadful guest host concept. But even with that, it's probably a very wise move of TNA to go thursdays again...
