1. My only worry is that he can't keep the pace for five rounds, and Davis is a much, much, much better wrestler than he is. Davis doesn't exactly have Nick Diaz-level cardio, but if this descends into a sloppy takedown-fest, I could see Mr Wonderful nicking three rounds.

Collegiate yes, but there's not much evidence to suggest that Davis' MMA wrestling is better than, or even as good as Rashad's. Davis was an outstanding college wrestler, infact there's very few guys in the UFC that can match his credentials as a wrestler, but in MMA, with the addition of strikes, that collegiate standard doesn't always crossover. Example being Johny Hendricks, one of the best college wrestlers of all time & the most decorated wrestler in the UFC, was outwrestled by Rick Story.

The lil' Nog fight really sticks out to me as a fight that showcased Davis' flaws in his MMA wrestling. He's very explosive, but Rashad has done an excellent job at mixing his strikes with his takedowns, which is the main reason why he's considered the best wrestler in the division, alongside Jones.

I expect the vast majority of this fight to stay standing, with Rashad's power strikes being the difference.

  2. Something that seems weird is despite saying it's a 10 minute first round (of course correct for Pride), the footage showed a minute less remaining of fight time every 30 'real' seconds. I don't know whether this was because it was an early build of the game or some other reason.

The round's aren't done in "real time", never have been in any of the 2 previous Undisputed games. EA Sports MMA had real time rounds but not Undisputed.

  3. Sonnen vs. Bisping

The question i would have is just how much has Bisping worked on his takedown defense during his training camp for Maia, because i reckon not a great deal. Certainly not to the level that he would if he knew he was fighting Sonnen 10 weeks ago. The majority of Bisping's defensive work, i would imagine would've been from the clinch where Maia is excellent at getting takedowns.. I don't think Bisping would've been to worried about Maia shooting from distance like Sonnen will look to do.

Ideally, i don't think this is a fight that Bisping would welcome at such short notice tbh, but i guess you can't pass this sort of an opportunity up.

  4. Hope you guys are getting ufc undisputed 3, as it was just announced that the pride gp, in tournament & career mode, will feature multiple fights in one night and the damage continues on between fights (ex small cuts become swells, that open up with first punch to that part of body.)

I will be getting it for sure, but the striking still looks very robotic.

  5. Did anyone else notice there's only two fights booked for the tuf finale? Assuming its at least a 10 fight card you're looking at 8 more fights, almost surely coming from guys in the house. That works out to everyone in the house getting a shot at the finale! They're really going to bulkup those divisions.

Yeah i think thats the way it's going to go this time, Roland Delorme (who was eliminated by Dillashaw in the first round) was on Mauro Ranallo's podcast earlier this week & he pretty much confirmed that he would be fighting at the finale.

I doubt he'll tear Mayhem to bits though, don't think he's ever came close to doing that too anyone relevant.

Will be interesting to see where Bisping goes after this fight. It's pretty obvious that the UFC are trying to manufacture a title shot for him & whilst i wouldn't be against him fighting for the title, i'd like to see him actually beat someone inside the top 5/8 before he gets his title shot. Wouldn't be surprised if he got that rematch with Wanderlei next though

  7. Too bad this had to happen, but pretty silly to fire him from the fight. There are several ways to 'promote' fights, when creative enough. Dana just didn't handle it well. Too bad for his business.

He sat in Dana's office and told him he would "play the game" and do all the media stuff then backtracked & no-showed not one but two press conferences! Diaz is a great fighter and it would be a shame if his UFC/Zuffa career ended because of this, but he has nobody to blame but himself.

  8. Nick Diaz

Needs some adjustments in my opinion.

Ran a few fights using the quick fight feature & it always seem's like Diaz starts to get tired midway through the 2nd round, so i checked his stats out & surprisingly his conditioning is only at 72, which, in normal circumstances is a decent number but Diaz's conditioning should be one of the best, if not thee best in the game).

Also his stun recovery (64), Heart (77) & in particullar his chin strength (74) need to be increased because Diaz can take some heavy shots.

  9. Thiago Silva/Brandon Vera fight needs to be changed to a no contest (as well as there records amended).

Chad Mendes needs to be ranked alot higher, as does Mighty Mouse.

Also hopefully you'll look at Dominick Cruz (if you haven't already). Not to say his stats are bad, because there not, but still imo he should be a little bit better in certain areas, ie. footwork/feints/speed.

Have you heard about their financial situation lately? Beyond that, it's a good update, adding BAMMA is just a colossal waste of time.

To be fair people have been saying this since BAMMA 1.

  11. The contract with Showtime lasts for two years as he said. They'll see that contract out and then probably merge the two, in the mean time giving people like Daley, Barnett, Fedor, Shamrock and whatnot the chance to run down their SF contracts.

The Shamrock / Diaz card was the first event in Strikeforce's 3 year deal with Showtime & that was in April 2009 so i reckon there deal has little over a year left.

  12. Huge stuff. I mean I'm not surprised UFC isn't absorbing SF off the bat (although I see it eventually happening), but it's a smart move as they prepare to make a worldwide push. It's going to be interesting definetly for a few guys (Fedor, Daley, Hendo, Barnett and a few others). Does a guy like Barnett or Shamrock opt to bail cause of this deal? We shall see. At the same time, does a guy like Overeem or Diaz ask for a release so they can move over to the UFC? I do fully expect a few SF guys to almost immediately opt to go to the UFC and vice versa.

    But amazing stuff.

Why would Diaz ask for a release when he just signed a new contract with Strikeforce? He could've left to go to the UFC then but he chose not too.

Josh Gross has said that the promotions will stay seperate only because Strikeforce still have a contract with Showtime. Once it's up, they will prob merge.

  13. Chael Sonnen

Not sure if this has been discussed on here but the California State Athletic Commission have revealed that Chael Sonnen tested positive for Performance Enhancing Drugs during post-fight screening at UFC 117.

Considering the amount of talking he did & has done since this seems almost impossible to be true but hell he's in big trouble, looking at a 1 year suspension.

  14. I'm the very first guy to say Sonnen's going to beat Anderson (WRESTLE CHAEL WRESTLE) but to say he's never been knocked out as proof Anderson won't jack him up standing is an invalid argument for two reasons.

    1) He hasn't exactly fought any KO artists. Who's the best striker he's fought, an Okami who doesn't start fighting until the third? Nate "Street Fighter Striking" Marquardt?

    2) Chins sort of become irrelevant once Anderson enters the picture. He completely demolished Hendo and Leben on the feet and I'm pretty sure Chael doesn't have the chin of either of those guys. Unless Anderson stepped in there with the 2001 version of Mark Hunt then his ridiculous ability to find a guy's chin means he's gonna knock them out if he lands.

When did i say Anderson Silva wouldn't be able to knock Chael Sonnen out?

Chael cannot stand with Anderson nor give him distance to work with, the key to this fight for him is to constantly pressure Silva BUT the point i was making is that Chael Sonnen is a legit opponent for anyone & going 35 fights & never been knocked out is very relevant when you consider that 80% of the time he prob has a disadvantage on the feet in his fights, Does that mean Anderson or anyone else won't be able to be the first? Of course not but it's still a very legit fact in an anything-can-happen sport.

  15. Okay, allow me to correct myself then... I'm not disregarding Sonnen as a wrestler, or even a fighter worthy of being in the UFC... But I am disregarding him as a potential Middleweight crownbearer. The dude is no threat to Silva whatsoever. I said Dan Henderson had the best chance of a middleweight as a wrestler in beating Silva, and I meant it...

Sonnen has nothing to back his wrestling up, which means Silva isn't going to be concerned and can just focus on avoiding the takedowns and punching Sonnen in the grill.

Henderson on the other hand has proven heavy hands, and some decent boxing. He clips people, and that's all it takes. So Silva had that to worry about, and to Henderson's credit he did land a few on Anderson.

So yeah, I am disregarding Sonnen as a challenger to the belt. The guy's a decent fighter for what he has, but what he has isn't nearly enough.

Being a world class wrestler and getting judo thrown to the ground and tapped by a mounted triangle is pretty juvenile jiu jitsu for a high level fighter, am I wrong? :)

Sonnen is very strong where Silva is weakest & Sonnen has never been knocked out in 35 professional fights so yeah i'd say he is a very real threat to Anderson Silva.
