  1.

So Noelle Foley is like Jenna Marbles for wrestling? Not entirely sure how I feel about that. The main reason I posted this was because she takes a nice dig at Al Snow towards the end that actually made me laugh. While talking about what she got for Cyber week she says, "and a signed Al Snow figure....that I paid them NOT to send me. But I got it anyway."

Ahh, Foley's vs Snow will never get old. Also, I guess she is now training to be a wrestler which means I wouldn't be shocked if she wound up training down at NXT before long.

  2. This post stands a good chance to get lost in all this CM Punk talk, but here it goes.

I had read that Nikki Bella actually cut a good promo on Smackdown. I found it and watched it, but it seems like it was weirdly cut and edited. The parts they kept seemed decent enough but it felt...incomplete? If that's the case then it's a shame, as I think Nikki has definitely grown leaps and bounds in the ring and on the microphone over the past year.

  3. I thought it was a great listen. I used YouTube and went through bits and pieces of the Rumble to see if I could see what Punk was talking about, and it all seemed to check out. I didn't realize quite how banged up and rough he looked in that Rumble match, even at the start. Within 10 mins in to the match he is grimacing really hard. Reminded me of watching HBK and Stone Cold's WM match.

I know it's one mans side to a story, but I definitely didn't think he really said anything too terrible about anyone other than the doctors. Sure, some things he said seemed a bit bitter, but think about how you talk about some of your past jobs. I know that while I did enjoy a lot of my last job, there were definitely things I could vent that would seem harsh.

  4. This isn't a meant to be a slight against Ziggler, or Rollins for that matter, but I think part of the reason Ziggler probably got the nod at the end of the match was due to

1.Big Show's turn angle works better by hitting the perceived strongest member on the team

    2. Ziggler plays a scrapy underdog better, which was played up by the number advantage

    3. Sting is the mega star face coming out, no need to have Cena in there distracting from that.

I think Sting would have looked less like a star with the biggest face, Cena, in the WWE in the ring also. Ziggler is getting a push, sure, but he isn't going to possibly steal the spotlight from Sting. If Cena were there, I think you'd have been expecting some kind of reaction from Cena getting up and actually rubbing shoulders with Sting and diminishing Sting's overall impact.

Just my thoughts though. I did definitely enjoy how it all played out.

  5. I can definitely agree with you there despite my statement. However, AC Unity isn't even a stable 30 haha. Check out this video from IGN of a clip of awful framerate: http://www.ign.com/videos/2014/11/12/assassins-creed-unity-low-framerate-gameplay-clip

That part is fair, if you say you're going to 30 to lock there for a smooth game experience and fail, then you just look silly.

I don't care about specs, I just like what I like and I think i'm gonna like WWE 2k15 come Tuesday. Look at that transition there! I know there is a WWE 2k15 thread, but I think this more than falls as being okay to post here where more eyes will catch it. This is a clip of Reigns vs Orton from a recent interview for almost 2 minutes with not a ton of clips and cuts.

This is a completely different game than the PS3/360 versions and that is more than welcome for me. I'll point out some key things that I really love about this video.

7 Seconds- See the new chain wrestling mini game. Maybe not the deepest concept, but I'm okay with this new route. Better than doing QTE's in my book.

20 seconds-Very subtle and it's kind of hard to notice since this clip comes so fast, but as Reigns goes to punch Orton, look at him left hand. The character model just places it on the kneeling Orton. Great immersion piece.

37 seconds- Orton stumbles backwards taking punches from Reigns and falls very organically in to the ropes.

1 min 20 seconds- Reigns only climbs to the middle rope. I hope this is tied to some stat for wrestlers. Maybe if a speed or agility or something is too low your wrestler only goes to the middle rope? I think this will directly effect jumping distance, as you see probably the roughest looking collision in the video when he does the splash. Also, bonus points for the ref telling him to get down.

1 min 28 seconds- Ropes react much more realistically to weight being applied to them now. This you can see pretty much the whole video, but this is a great example of it. In old games a regular body slam would cause all the ropes to shake in the ring which always drove me crazy.

1 min 50 seconds-Crowd pops nice as Reigns gets his taunt off.

Throughout the whole video you can also see the game is a lot slower paced. I'm completely on board with that change as well. I think it looks nicer, more impactful and actually allows for more selling. Game will be a day 1 pick up for me on PS4 (as will GTA) so if anyone else is getting it on PS4, feel free to add me!

  6. For what it is worth, I would easily take a steady 30FPS over a 60FPS game that will stutter.

I've played very few games at 60FPS, but never when playing any games under that have I ever thought, "This game is good, but the framerate is ruining the fun." Maybe I just have poor eyes, but to me as long as it looks good and it looks smooth, it is perfectly fine by me.

  7. I think it's hilarious that they absolutely ignore Flair with a passion for this entire documentary because he singlehandedly would disprove the notion that all of their stars were gifted from WWF.

They didnt even talk about the first Hogan/Flair match. Hell they haven't even talked about the terrible usage and treatment of Flair in the NWO era. They've completely ignored one of the biggest stars of all time

The series isn't over yet, is it? That's not me being sarcastic, but a serious question.

Hopefully next week's episode isn't a episode dedicated to Ric Flair :p

  8. The Monday Night Wars series has worn on me as much as the whole Attitude Era has at this point. We've seen it re-hashed sooo many times over the years. The Attitude Era is just too played out for me at this point. I wish they could find that kind of focus for original content on other eras. I personally didn't watch a ton during Ruthless Aggression, so it'd be nice to see some of that brought back up.

On another note, anyone else bothered by Uso's using twin magic tactics on RAW to pick up a win? That is a heel move!

  9. My thoughts on Hell In A Cell-

Ziggler vs Cesaro- Good match, the clean sweep was a nice surprise, and it really makes Ziggler look that much better.

Nikki vs Brie- I've actually turned in to a big Nikki fan lately. She is far better in the ring than she ever used to be, and she is out growing Brie in the acting department too at a quick rate. I was actually kind of upset that she didn't get to be with The Authority more post SS, because I think working with Steph and HHH, Nikki could have really benefited from being around those two. I do think Nikki can carve out a spot in the WWE as the power move diva for a while. I think her finisher looks great just has a terrible name. On a final note, I can't stand Brie...she seems to have nothing of her own, and even riding the coat tails of Bryan's chant and finisher, she just doesn't look like she connects much with the crowd. They do the chant because they miss Bryan, not because they like her.

Gold and Stardust vs Usos- A really nice match. I didn't mind it. Seeing the amazing work Goldust is doing, it's upsetting to think about all the years he lost battling his own issues.

Cena vs Orton- I'm enjoying Orton a bit more, but I wish instead of the super serious Viper they would just let him be an arrogant d-bag. Let him just be himself. I like his Twitter personality a lot more than the viper. Not excited Cena won, but the AA in to RKO spot was really well done.

Shamus vs Miz- Fun to watch...have to wonder how things are going to play out with Sandow stealing all these segments. WWE is definitely getting the camera on Sandow a lot more than they did initially when he was doing his stunt work.

Rusev vs Big Show- Someone needs to find a new reason to fight Rusev other than America vs Russia. I'm not tired of Rusev, I'm tired of the same thing being ran month after month with him. I was actually hoping Mark Henry would have sided with the Russians and turned on Big Show during the match. Could you imagine how awesome that would be?! I do enjoy Michael Cole claiming Big Show was our last hope for defeating Rusev because it was so absurd...it was as if Cole forgot about a lot of big name guys such as Cena, Lesnar, Ambrose, HHH, Daniel Bryan, Orton and so on. I know some of those would take a lot of work to make sense in a story, but I don't think Michael Cole should be THAT worried.

AJ vs Paige- Match was okay, ended on a really weird note. Thanks to Alicia for throwing her beat up friend in the ring so AJ could pick up the scraps? I know it stopped a potential count out, but she could have distracted the ref or something. So maybe the worst part about this is that Alicia Fox is just a terrible manager? I'm okay with that, she doesn't have a ton of experience managing so I guess it makes sense.

Ambrose vs Rollins- While the last match ended in a really weird way, this one started really weird. Rollins has been a chicken and pretty much only sneak attacked Ambrose for months now, why on earth did Ambrose expect Rollins to be eager to climb a cell and battle him, as Ambrose had a weapon even?! By all that, Rollins should have just entered the ring and waited for the idiot to get down and then Rollins would be in the advantageous spot as Ambrose had to enter the ring. Really weird booking. I think the roles should have be flipped. I could have easily understood Rollins being the first wrestler to go to the ring and go to the top of the cell trying to hide from Ambrose, and I could have easily accepted Ambrose being so hellbent on revenge that he would have climbed up there anyway. After all that though, the match was pretty good. I was a bit let down by the spot-y nature of it though, because I think just having a quality clean wrestling match between the two would be absolutely fantastic, but that didn't ruin the match too much for me. The ending was a nice change of pace, and hopefully Ambrose's wild and fast style can get Bray to raise his game a little bit in the ring.

Good show overall, with the ending really pushing the younger, newer characters as really out future of the company...should be interesting to see where things go on to from here.

  10. Anyone here playing Wasteland 2? Is it the game I want it to be? ¬_¬

I've made a rule that I'm not going to buy a game if I'm currently playing a game similar to it, so Wasteland 2 will have to wait until I'm done with Shadowrun: Dragonfall (which is MUCH better than SR:Returns), but it's got me all excited because Brian Fargo <3.

But it is a full price release... But the Digital Deluxe Edition comes with a free copy of The Bard's Tale, one of the best games of all time. God I miss that game...

To clarify to anyone ready, Shadowrun: Dragonfall is Shadowrun: Returns, as it is DLC to SR:R's, but it is a full length campaign. And I agree that is is leaps and bounds over SR:R's initial campaign, The Dead Mans Switch. I finished Dragonfall, never got very far in to The Dead Man's Switch.

And I'm playing Wasteland 2! It's a flawed game, but I love it. It can be very difficult and there are parts about it that can seem frustrating and a bit buggy. A case in point is during one mission very early in the game, I was supposed to help somebody having a crisis and then go about the mission I was already going there to do. After having doing most everything, I asked about my original mission and the NPC got mad at me. The game doesn't have a morality system, but it still seemed kinda weird.

I've also had to go through a couple interactions more than once because I didn't follow up with the right question, I would just switch the subject, which meant the character didn't advance their quest. No huge problems in the game. If you can live with how Shadowrun is a bit rough around the edges, you should be just fine in Wasteland 2. Even with my complaints, I'm trying to speed through this response to get back to it. If you have any specific questions about things you might have heard that were good or bad, feel free to ask and I'll try to answer them!

I love it. What if a wrestler could get the crowd to troll every pinfall? Instead of counting 1-2-3 with the ref it would be hilarious to watch a crowd just start count 2-3 while the ref is only doing 1-2.</p>
  12. Sarcasm Mode ON

    Could anybody explain these?

    Sarcasm Mode Off

Who produces this ....? It's almost unwatchable.

If Cameron ever once could somehow get the ref to count while an opponent is on their stomach by making the ref second guess themselves for just a moment, it would be a career win and make using the tactic valid.

Not that it really counts, but in the backyard group I had been with (we had a real ring, just no real training) I put on a boston crab and released it 5 second later throwing my arms up in victory and saying "He quit! He quit! I heard it!" The ref didn't believe me, but if a ref would ever award me a victory like that, then the tactic completely pays off.

I love how I can rationalize some of the stupidest moments in wrestling sometimes.

  13. As the gimmick settles down, I decided I don't really like Swagger (anymore?) in this role. He doesn't play it well. I'd like to see him more as a 'silent' heel (or not as a heel at all).

And Paige vs AJ just doesn't add up. Paige isn't bad playing the gimmick and she's supposed to look 'weird' but ironically looks weird doing so. The title being AJ's "baby", she "lost her kingdom", playing "mindgames" while it's Paige who's doing the 'imitation' yet is baffled when AJ just does her usual strut thing. It makes the watcher believe she somehow identifies with AJ so much she believes she... is AJ? There is some historic ground to assume this urge: She "loved her" when she had her Punk-style run as anti-diva, while she was the anti-diva herself. So AJ becomes crazy again so Paige's image of AJ is no longer internally consistent and she weirds out and gets disrupted? And there's a whole lot that doesn't make sense from a psychological perspective. I just can't make sense of it. And the gimmick can't be THAT deep and complex (I mean: it's the WWE ffs). In summation: it's a crappy storyline.

The Cena storyline is also a dubious thing. He's sticking to his values yet this narrative is far from consistent with his behaviour in the ring, attacking Lesnar from behind or before he enters the ring. I know it lacks realism in the ring, and that's ok, but they could've spend a little more energy writing logically consistent storylines. But let's just explain it by saying he was a 'little' too eager.

And Jericho's promo from SD! wasn't all that either. Thank god there's NXT, where - for some reason - almost all material is gold. But like we said before: NXT is WWE's answer to sooth the few pure wrestling fans. It's been made pretty clear by the signing of KENTA, and I'm happy he's going to feud with the Ascention, who just dropped the titles. Awesome booking.

I strongly dislike Swagger (and to an extent, his manager Zeb) forgetting the best way to win with a ankle lock is to step over the leg and drop to the mat. When Kurt Angle used to do that, you knew the opponent was in real trouble. I got to the point where watching Swagger feud with Rusev I would be pulling my hair out when he wouldn't. You can't pretend that nobody remembers how to really sink in that move. Frustrating.

I'll agree completely about John Cena. Let's not forget the terrible "I'm going to headlock kidnap you" that happened last night. Ric Flair talked about it in his book when somebody did that to David Flair. There is suspending disbelief, and then there is going to ridiculous measures. The #1 good guy in the company is threatening to sue and kidnapping people with headlocks. This is what we've seen within the past month.

I'm not going to attack NXT too much, because I think it's generally good. I know I've heard a lot of praise for Takeover 2 and I liked it, but I still enjoyed AirRival the most out of their showings this year.

  14. Smackdown Review:

Opening segment - Standard Cena promo. Kane and Rollins interrupted him and Cena retorted with jokes. Cue Reigns to challenge Kane and Rollins. Kane brought out the Wyatts so out came Jericho, Show & Henry to shift the odds. Cue Triple H doing a terrible but funny Teddy Long impression to set up a 5v5 tag match. Just like Raw the opening segment went on too long.

Ziggler vs Cesaro - Good match. Cesaro dominated 2/3 of the match before Ziggler fought back and got a lucky pin. Cesaro beat down Ziggler and Sheamus Brogue Kicked him.

Jimmy Uso vs Slater - Solid match won by Jimmy.

Rusev, Lana & Henry - The usual Lana promo before Henry challenged Rusev again. Henry called Lana an escort. A tough babyface like Henry doesn't need to resort to non-PG insults.

Brie vs Paige - I like Brie's new entrance music. Solid match. AJ & Nikki were on commentary. AJ was good, Nikki wisely kept silent. Brie was taking charge of the match when AJ attacked Nikki. Brie instinctively defended her. Paige delivered the RamPaige on Brie to win. Given my distaste of merging the 2 feuds this was a decent segment.

Dallas vs Ryder - Squash match. Bo needs to start using an exposed turnbuckle to win like he did on NXT and he needs a better finisher. Bo took the mickey out of Swagger and the two fought with Swagger standing strong. Best line of the show from Bo: "Since you all live in Nebraska, something terrible has obviously happened to you in your life."

Cena, Reigns, Jericho, Show & Henry vs Kane, Rollins & The Wyatt Family - Good match. Nothing spectacular but it lasted for about 20 minutes before ending with a brawl and the babyfaces all hitting their finishers.

Verdict: An improvement on recent shows but Smackdown is nowhere near as good as it was last year.

I was at Smackdown, and the Bo Dallas line was amazing...as was Lana's line about if America had a heart it would be made in China. Both of those lines actually drew some cheers from the crowd.

Anyone else notice Lana looks like she about to crack up when the insults start flying?

  15. Finally got around to giving Watch Dogs a shot. I'm pretty underwhelmed so far. Combat is sort of bad and driving is just...not even remotely fun. Movement isn't fluid and seems kind of clunky. Hacking is fun, but not fun enough for me to get passed the other stuff so far. I have it for a week, so I'm still going get more into it to give it a real go, but so far I'm just not seeing what all the hype was about.

I also got Wolfenstein: The New Order, but have yet to check it out.

Most the hype was BEFORE the game came out. I think it's a good game still on its own, but it had worn out its welcome by the time I finished. I also lost all interest in doing any extra side things because I did one set of side missions and the final part of it was basically a regular criminal profile...not a good pay off for running all around the map.

  16. It's not about realism. It's about not being lazy in your writing.

It's like a horror movie where a group of hunters in the wilderness get attacked by a werewolf, and despite it being established that none of them had any clue that there were even legends of a werewolf in the area, one of the hunters just happens to find a silver bullet in his box of ammo. Sure, it's a surprise, you wouldn't expect it, but it makes zero sense and they make no attempt to rationalize it.

The difference is just that guys like Triple H are so genius they are ready for anything. Every time WWE runs a show, after the ring is set up, Triple H takes a sledgehammer to ringside and hides it...just in case.

I mean, sure, that's kinda silly...but it works enough for me.

Edit-I know you guys say Rollins and Ambrose didn't have a planned match, but who is to say Triple H didn't have a match planned for them? All three stipulations he was allowing the universe allowed him to execute the plan to eliminate Ambrose.

  17. While I like the idea of Adam Rose's character, I am not enjoying his debut feud. Swagger was still getting hot. There is no reason Rose couldn't have debuted against a geel who was red hot like Bad News Barrett. He wouldn't have had to take the title off him even to make him look good. They could have had Rose crash a BNB promo, give them a match next with without any titles where Rose wins, then come PPV for the title BNB wins by cheating. Puts Rose up there as at least a legitimate wrestler as well as a fun character. Right now I have a hard time thinking the character will keep any momentum.
