  1. <p>OMG, they got Yuka Sakazaki on the show! Now I absolutely have to watch it. Her and Jericho on the same show is 100% effective bait for my money, even if the rest of the show turns out crap.</p><p> </p><p> I really should be happy that she's getting exposure on what's likely to be a major US event, but now I'm getting paranoid that she might get poached from TJPW. :/</p>
  2. Late to the party as usual, but I've just read through the journal and just wants to express my love for the on-the-fly booking feature. That's something I felt should have been in the game since several generations back. That's really the most realistic feature that reflects RL booking. Any person who's ever run/managed any sort of event (wrestling, entertainment or otherwise) will know that 90+% of the time events don't happen according to plan and last-minute (re)arrangements often need to be made to minimize potential damage (or in some cases make the show even better than planned). On-the-fly booking is IMO the one thing that really separates real bookers from fantasy armchair bookers. If implemented well it should be most immersive feature of all.
  3. Amazing return and showcase for Tyler Breeze on NXT. It's almost sad to watch and reflect how far he's been underutilized on the main roster and how NXT used to have a wealth of colourful and non-generic characters to complement the good wrestling in the good ol' days.
  4. <p>Making the Mixed Match challenge a round-robin tournament this year is beyond pointless when 2 teams with terrible win-loss records end up in the Finals anyway. WTF?</p><p> </p><p> And the stipulation of making the winners No.30 in the Rumble match is wasted too. There ought to be <em>at least 1</em> favourite in those teams that can actually be a credible potential winner in the Rumble for the stipulation to matter.</p>
  5. Love the way the crowd was actually agreeing with Miz when he demanded that Bryan should apologize to him and admit to that he was right the whole time. I bet no one could have predicted that reaction 1 year ago.
  6. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="milamber" data-cite="milamber" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="25169" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Outside of WWE I mostly watch Stardom and Tokyo Joshi Pro (I'm really into joshi wrestling and wish I had time to watch more like Sendai Girls, Wrestle-1 and Ice Ribbon). Also Lucha Underground. I watch New Japan and DDT casually and the occasional indy event but they don't interest me enough to watch regularly.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Heh, your watching habits are really close to mine. I still follow WWE out of mostly habit (well, that and easy accessibility) even though they're no longer my favourite shows. LU and TJPW are by far my favourite promotions at the moment, and I've also been following Stardom as much as I can (although I have to admit not enough to get really up to date due to how often they put up new shows even while I'm still digging through the old ones, but that's more due of lack of time than of interest), and I'm a casual watcher of DDT.</p><p> </p><p> The major difference is that I can't stand stand New Japan, personally. In fact, NJPW was what put me <em>off</em> Japanese wrestling for so many years. When I started looking for japanese matches many years back, NJPW was (comparatively) more accessible so naturally I started with that......and was so bored that it gave me an overall bad impression of what Puro is.</p><p> </p><p> I'm so glad that I decided to give myself another shot at Japanese wrestling over a year ago, because when I tried out Stardom and DDT I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed them. Dragon Gate's product wasn't exactly my cup of tea either so i don't follow them (not that i have the means to anyway), but from what little I saw I still liked them better than New Japan. Turns out that my mistake was choosing to the wrong promotion to start watching. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
  7. Don't think Starrcade was ever meant to be more than a glorified house show. I don't recall them promoting it at all until last week......and since I usually watch RAW and Smackdown one week later, the show was already over before i even found out about it. It's less relevant than the old Tribute to the Troops shows.
  8. Hopefully, having Lesnar get the better of Strowman on RAW means that the latter should finally get that win over Lesnar that he's been due for so long at Crown Jewel. It's more than a year late, but in this case better late than never.
  9. I find it a rather worrying sign that they kept the arena lighting much darker than their usual events. I'm hoping it's not a way to hide low audience attendance......
  10. <p>BOO at them removing the NXT UK Women's Title match from Evolution. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> I wonder if it was by deliberate design that out of the 3 Japanese competitors in the MYC, 2 were both eliminated by Toni Storm and the last one is facing her in the Finals.....</p>
  11. <p>Roman's departure is definitely the most impactful event that'll have a lasting effect on WWE's booking within the past 3 years at least.</p><p> </p><p> While not a fan of his forced run as top face, I do look forward to his eventual return as a performer.</p><p> </p><p> The Women's matches on NXT UK were apparently taped as part of a tournament to determine their Women's Champion, but there was zero mention of that during the airing. I'm guessing it's because it started airing way later than they planned, and they couldn't finish airing the tournament matches before Evolution. Wonder if they'll mention the tournament at all during Evolution itself. They haven't even named No. 1 contender yet and the event is this weekend.</p><p> </p><p> They went with the worst and most predictable solution to the Aleister Black storyline just as I was starting to get interested. :/ It's like it's become mandatory to give every character the same tired old "dark side" or "mean streak" or "bitter face turns heel" story even when they don't need them. Johnny Gargano was perfectly fine as a straight babyface and they just had to do an unnecessary heel turn. I'm actually surprised Bayley and Ember Moon managed to escape that fate before they were promoted.</p>
  12. How many times does Strowman have to run into the turnbuckles shoulder-first before he learns to not do so? I know it's a common spot in wrestling, but he does it every single match now. It's almost becoming a trademark move for him. He does that more than he does his finisher these days.
  13. Man that was the most interesting thing Aleister Black ever done for me. For the first time I actually care about what happened to him. If only they'd booked him like this during his title reign.
  14. Enjoyed the NXT 3-way, and I like Ricochet......but hated the way they jobbed the UK Champion to a secondary champion. The Face of Brand shouldn't be losing to a second-tier champ from another brand. Especially with the new brand just starting their own shows. They should have let Adam Cole take the pin.
  15. <p>Elias has been criminally under-pushed. Push him to the title scene while the iron is hot!</p><p> </p><p> There have been lots of talk about NXT guys being misused after they've been brought to the main roster. Elias is one of the rare examples of the extreme opposite. NXT never unlocked that tremendous potential that he's been displaying since he's been on RAW. Not being a former indy darling or big star in Japan probably held him down there.</p>
  16. I think by "face to face" he simply meant that he'll give advance warning and let everyone know he'll be cashing in after the match. That was what happened at Summerslam. Whomever he was going to cash it in would probably have already had a gruelling match too. He told Finn face-to-face on RAW. He didn't do it with Reigns, but that can be explained as him having already given advanced warning to Reigns at Summerslam. I mean, Dean Ambrose remained as a face after he cashed in on Rollins even though he actually jumped the guy from behind (whereas Braun actually let Reigns see him coming) because he made it clear the week before that he intended to cash in the very same night he wins the briefcase. If Ambrose was still a face after that, I don't see Braun as having done anything that makes him a heel
  17. Can't wait for them to start airing their NXT UK shows. I've been waiting for the UK division to get their own show for more than a year. Can't believe it took this long. They've been consistently the best part of the NXT shows whenever they were were featured, including that spectacle on this week's show. Pete Dunn is hands down the best champion in the company right now, counting both main roster and NXT.
  18. Cross-dressing Tyler Breeze is genuinely prettier than all the Smackdown women not named Lana. All the Real World Mods have grossly underrated his Sex Appeal stat.
  19. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="James Casey" data-cite="James Casey" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41194" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>A small question of my own:<p> </p><p> When booking an angle, does the degree of success/failure have an impact on a worker's popularity/momentum, or is it just a factor in their performance within their current storyline?</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Not sure about Popularity (I suspect not), but it affects the worker's momentum directly. You can get a worker's momentum to Major Positive (with or w/o storyline) just by running beatdown angles with Major Success every show without him ever wrestling a match.</p>
  20. Title prestige definitely contributes to match ratings. The Dirt Sheet lists it clearly when there's a bonus.
  21. <p>If my Product has "Hardcore" set at "Low" and then I proceed to create a Brand split with Hardcore as the focus, how does it affect that brand's shows? </p><p> </p><p> Does Hardcore become the Key Feature for that brand's show? Does it get upgraded by one level (e.g. Low to Medium), or is the effect something else that I completely misunderstood?</p>
  22. Can anybody advise on what leads the various personality changes? I know (or can guess) a few of the obvious ones like - being overpushed can lead to one becoming more egotistical (and getting buried a lot has the opposite effect) - success of one's career affects how optimistic/pessimistic he becomes over time - backstage discipline can affect flakiness/dependability Anyway, the question for me arose when recently my Road Agent stopped being the Locker room leader. Double-checking with the default database, she was originally: humble, generous, optimistic, naïve and dependable. Now she's only humble and optimistic....and also became liberal (I thought old people tend to get more conservative as they get older?). This happened in the short span of 4 months. The only thing that's happened to her over the 4 months (and happens quite frequently) is that she held a lot of Wrestlers' Court. I never knew that event changes the Locker room leader's personality (the punished, yes, the player is told about the changes, but the Leader?). Does it? Since she's a Road Agent and never appears onscreen, her push doesn't come into the picture so....what causes someone to become less generous and dependable (or naïve)? The liberal thing also interests me......I suspect it may be due to most of my roster being liberal (it's a risque product), but does having a locker room full of a certain type of personality really cause others to gravitate towards their style? So, does that mean that if I put Giant Redwood in a locker room full of nice guys, he can actually become slightly less of a jerk after a few years?? I know he'd have less incident with a harmonious backstage crowd, but does his personality change for the better as a result?
  23. If we were to believe her brother's statement then this isn't the first time Paige has gravitated towards "men" (I use the term loosely since there're probably other more approriate terms to describe guys like Brad Maddox and Del Rio that would get me censored) who "abused her physically and mentally", so I don't see how WWE should be blamed for this. If the girl refuses to learn from her past mistakes and chooses to act like an immature she has only herself to blame.
  24. Since TNA/GFW tape their shows in advance, does that mean they're stuck with him as World Champion (on TV) for at least several weeks?
  25. <p>While this topic's title has been outdated for some time now (the company is no longer named TNA), it's a good thing nobody bothered to change it, because apparently the company' may be getting another name change:</p><p> </p><p> <a href="http://www.pwinsider.com/article/110649/impact-wrestling-is-no-more-global-force-wrestling-to-replace-it.html?p=1" rel="external nofollow">http://www.pwinsider.com/article/110649/impact-wrestling-is-no-more-global-force-wrestling-to-replace-it.html?p=1</a></p><p> </p><p> Turns out that Anthem is investing in those gold bars after all!</p><p> </p><p> Was there ever a GFW thread? Could be time for a merger.</p>
