  1. I don't think that has ever been a thing in wrestling. In the Monday Night Wars era, McMahon still was working on the handshake agreement essentially, nothing was given you had to earn it, no base pay like today, just an agreed amount of time you where going to work for him and that was it essentially. Bischoff started offering guys written deals that had a minimum amount of money they would make while under contract, which is the system in place today with WWE and most other companies who offer written deals.

WCW definitely offered guaranteed money. Hence why several stayed home getting paid after the company folded. If it was any other deal, Time-Warner could simply have fired them and paid them a few months instead of having to pay the reminder of their contracts.

  2. I really enjoyed the new spring cleaning system and the fact that we now only need to pay 6 months when releasing a worker, as it is realistic and perfectly replicates today's contracts for most companies. However, the option to give out guaranteed deals should still also be available in a way that would also allow for the new game to help replicate historical eras, like the Monday Night Wars, or as an option to lure a worker even in more recent and/or different eras, as an incentive for the worker that, despite receiving less he would have the assurance of a guaranteed deal.

Given that after searching on the journal I did not see any mention to that part of contracts still being possible, (if there was and I missed it, apologies for the mistake) I would suggest, in case it is in fact not possible in the current upcoming release, for it to be patched or at least added to any future iterations.

  3. Lol yes. I remember seeing Tyler Black (Seth Rollins) vs. Daniel Bryan (Danielson) in front of 200 people 10 years ago thinking "it's a shame these guys will never enter the biggest of stages" and now they both did. Used to book them and 20 other indi-talents that were in their 20s or early 30s as World champions numerous times. It's crazy to think that probably 60%, 70% of them all ended up having somewhat decent runs in mainstream promotions by 2020. Weird feeling.

Yeah, i am on that boat as well. All the indie "darlings" i booked 10, 15 years ago ended up having decent or even great runs in mainstream companies. I remember when the thought of that happening was considered delusion and would only happen on dynasties. Since then, WWE and 1 or 2 more companies have since poached everyone and the indie scene lacks that huge amount of talent it used to have. A shame.

  4. Interesting what your predictions will be about India? In theory, there is nothing in the game to give us a clue (because India was not in the game and there is no workers from there).

What is also interesting about India is what type or promotions will function there? Mainstream? I know very little about the Indian scene in real life (maybe because it does not exist?)

I actually tried to find out something about Indian Wrestling, but besides some vague details about a WWE style promotion called Continental Wrestling Entertainment (which i am not sure even has a website), and a few workers who passed through WWE (such as the Khali who sucked), i am not sure India actually has a real wrestling scene TEW can go by, so i guess it will be interesting.

I am predicting a few smaller companies and the scene will be something similar to what we have in Europe.

Original Australia wasteland seems to be the consensus for predictions. I'd say it would fit.

  5. I still think this comes mainly to product and presentation. If hyped correctly, any 2 great stars could have a good match regardless of disposition. This being related to the new product features seems great, imo. Obviously one is not gonna get A* in every same-disposition combo, especially with the lower card, but as far as big start and certain moments, yeah I think it is far more about the presentation and booking skills, so I think these new features might reflect it better.
  6. Has two figureheads ever really been the case, though? Back in the days of John Cena and Batista, John Cena was clearly the figurehead. Batista was the 1A - super popular, big star. Head of SmackDown. But not the figurehead. And isn't Roman Reigns still the face of the company for the most part? Or are they now making Drew into that? I feel like there can only ever be one, regardless of the amount of brands. The figurehead is simply the Face of the Company; THE star that you send to talk shows and whatnot. It would be cheating to be able to have multiple since the figurehead clearly offers advantages. There can now be four brands per company, and if multiple brands would offer the ability to have multiple figureheads, of course everyone would create four brands for maximum benefit.

Reigns is still the figurehead. Drew just became champ. What they will do with him, I have no idea. But the whole figurehead being only one concept is indeed realistic and how it works irl. And you are spot on about the Batista/Cena thing. Cena was clearly THE guy, Batista was heading a brand, but definitely not the company.

  7. If that's the creator's call, then that's how it is, but I do respectfully disagree since I see value in being able to play a Wholesome gimmick. Not everyone can do it, honestly. A Bret Hart and a John Cena can. A Seth Rollins or a Roman Reigns can't. I've stopped watching modern wrestling, but the last time I paid attention to it, they were trying it with Roman Reigns, and it's just not his fit, so the character bombed. It's actually a specific trait to be able to play that wholesome hero.

But that's just me. This is nothing game-breaking, or anything.

While not necessarily agreeing with all of your points, i always thought the whole gimmick things needed to be simplified, but also made more relevant at the same time. Assigning a gimmick sometimes feels like a chore, when you really want to have several people with distinctive different gimmicks. I thought the addition of attributes would change this, but it just seems, at least from what has been said so far, that it was simply made with more condensation. And I don't see this making our life easier, while providing for some fun, distinctive and relevant use of them.

  8. Are Wholesome gimmicks not a thing anymore? Just noticed when going through the list of Attributes. With the gimmicks now being:

    Dominant

    Comedy

    Swagger

    Gimmicky/Cartoonish

    Bad Ass

    Legitimate

    Weasely/Underdog

    Realistic

    Mysterious/Occult

I struggle to think what gimmick I would give to a Hulk Hogan. Or a Bret Hart. Or a John Cena. I always used Wholesome with them. I guess Realistic is the only way to go. Also, Weasel and Underdog being lumped together seems odd. A Weasel is a Bobby Heenan, whereas an Underdog is a Daniel Bryan.

    Oh well.

Now look at Bryan's heel work and see how he actually fits that criteria well. Though I do agree, there should be a bit more variety on gimmicks, especially to take advantage of some of the new stuff. This condensation makes it feel a bit more robotic, imo.

  9. I think the MMA Hall of Fame needs to be redone for this mod.

    1) Can I ask why Brock Lesnar is inducted into the MMA HOF in this mod? Is 5-3 with 1 NO contest really a HOF career?

    2) GSP, a guy I and many others consider the GOAT is not in the HOF or listed as a future inductee in this mod.

    3) Stephan Bonnar is not an mma HOF guy either.

    4) Anderson Silva is not listed as a future inductee either. Another guy in some people's GOAT contention.

    5) Jose Aldo also deserves future inductee.

    6) BJ Penn probably deserves future inductee status as well.

    7) If Sakuraba and Rampage are in, Wanderlei has to be as well.

Other inclusions and exclusions are debatable, but those 7 I found pretty egregious

I agree with 6 of those 7. Heck, GSP should even be inducted already, and BJ should already be inducted for sure. I respectfully disagree about Lesnar. While his career was not long, it was meaningful. He will eventually be inducted by UFC and will likely make other lists as well. I see no reason for him not to already be in one in the mod. I think you are spot on about the rest.

  10. If you mean "edit from" as in "remove them from the game", you can't, the editor doesn't offer you that option in a live game.

If you mean just edit them as in give them a new name, then yes, you can do that.

The editor wouldn't cause a crash regardless; it'd be a bit silly to include it in the game if it caused crashes when you used it.

I don't know if this would be possible with a patch, but it sure would help a lot if we could edit ongoing saves, as it would facilitate the removal of duplicates from some dbs.

  11. Perphaps... I switched to another mod, where UFC has announced two TV-shows in two weeks (only four weeks into the save). No events yet. In that mod, they are set to TV-driven.

My bad, just reviewed the situation to be sure. They are set as TV Driven in the mod I am playing. Upon a closer look I noticed they do like 5 ppvs followed by 5 tv shows average. Not exactly a true to life setup, but still they do make TV and PPV, so it will be a matter of finding the right settings. Here is their current settings in the save in question:

  12. They still won't do TV-shows in my save... It's kinda weird. They're holding PPV's once a week, sometimes only every two weeks.

I checked my most recent save to see how the trend continues. They put 2 or 3 ppvs a month and occasionally follow that with a few tv shows. Obviously they are ppv driven, so that still makes more sense than what you have experienced. So the fact they are not doing any at all in your save might be their settings not being right.

  13. So... What's the biggest upset you've seen in the game?

For me, it has to be Ryan Bader (-1050) getting KO'ed in the second round by Mirko Cro Cop (+750). I was not expecting that, and since it was part of a tournament, it kinda sent my plans into a whirlwind. But it all worked out.

CM Punk beating Dan Severn by split decision. Yeah, that happened. Also, Severn later becoming SHW champ at 61.

  14. What sub-ten minute Lesnar match do you think *should* get more than 80/100? The one where he does the same move over and over, and then maybe his opponent does the same? Or the one where he does one move and then it's over?

The one where Goldberg did a couple of moves and it was over. :D

Lesnar getting squashed by Goldberg was actually a great match. Quick, to the point, avoided weaknesses to rear their ugly heads, shock value for casual fans...pretty entertaining. Squash matches well executed like that in a ME are a good example and the shock value leads them to score well in reviews as well, if well executed. On the other hand, several matches nowadays are fast sprints (now going beyond Goldberg or Lesnar) full of spots, action and speed, that end quickly but are still entertaining.

I think the booking would have to matter to turn it into a good match, as well as some other factors, which could probably be covered by bonuses and penalties rather than caps, as to avoid abuse, but still make a great short match be possible. Capping it seems to simply remove the option of occasionally nailing the way to book an epic main event moment, or a great short midcard match.
