1. Joe was in TNA before his match with Kobashi. That match actually happened close to the same time as the unbreakable 3 way. Aries was in TNA around the same time as well in 05 just after his first ROH title run ended. And as great as his trilogy with Punk was it still doesn't compare to the attention being on ppv and TV with an arguably national company. I said in my original post Joe and Aries to an extent are homegrown yes a minority of fans may have known of them prior but they became more recognizable as TNA wrestlers.
  2. But TNA did have homegrown talent AJ styles Christopher Daniels Montey Brown Abyss America's Most Wanted even to an extent guys like Joe and Aries who should have been utilized better. Sure AJ was a multiple time champion and grand slam champion but he was also booked terribly for long stretches of time during his run. There is nothing wrong with bringing in a guy like Angle or the Dudley's they were still crazy over and talented guys who should have been pushed. But Booker T Hall Nash RVD Pope Tomko Matt Hardy Jeff the second time Flair Foley Golddust never shouldn't even been signed. I'll fully admit some guys have been signed from WWE and worked out well but they've wasted so much real talent by focusing on former WWE guys. Also the reason nobody says anything about Jay Lethal in ROH is because he was in ROH before TNA.
  3. Kingster I think you're over thinking this the fact that he is an amateur means nothing he has a name. Punk is a character whether you like or him or not that people are going to pay to see. His actual fighting ability doesn't matter for this fight it's the fact that he is a name that will draw buys which honestly the UFC needs. They've gotten so big but have maybe 3 fighters that are true stars a casual person will have heard of who fight maybe twice a year. Punk won't change that but he will definitely get more eyes on the sport and for those eyes to hopefully latch on to another fighter.

Kevin Nash wasn't all that old when he started becoming injury-prone and Bryan Danielson is only 34, but had to quit wrestling.

The guys previously listed, if they aren't too unlucky, could all easily go for another 10 years.

but being older means your more likely to get injured and be out longer with injuries. when Batista started in WWE he was 35 IIRC and had 3 or 4 injury gaps of around 6 months. Also its hard to build a star when they get injured look at Wade Barrett he almost always gets injured when he starts getting momentum behind a push. No Barrett is not that old but injuries have killed his big opportunities to rebuild his career. I'm not saying that guys like Aries Joe or Nakamura can't be built up into the stars they should be but that being older is a big issue in the WWE and has other affects that are going to probably make them gun shy of them so to speak

Also I don't care how depleted the Roster is there is no way I or most any fans will take Bo Dallas, Heath Slater or Zach Ryder seriously they're so damaged

  6.

I'd be shocked if they'd put him in a co-main event spot or even a main event spot on a PPV. Sure he's got some name value and that's why he was hired in the first place despite his complete lack of mma experience.
But they're not going to put an 0-0 fighter in a pay-per-view main event spot, nor should they. I can see him being on the undercard or headlining the prelims, though.

And Brock Lesnar was in the semi main for his first UFC PPV a 1-0 fighter. Dana isn't stupid a lot of people are going to pay to see Punks first fight the wrestling fans who want to see how he does and all the stuck up haters who want to see him get his ass kicked. Putting him on the undercard or prelims is like throwing money way.

  7. Lana wasn't a wrestler when she debuted, she was a manager. And she also knew how to cut a promo.

And there wasn't the push back on Sable because most of those fans hadn't seen anything better at that point. How would they know that there was actual very good women's wrestling? I mean she refused to take most bumps. In a world where Bayley and Sasha Banks main evented pay per views this would not fly.

Apparently you either don't remember or are to young but Sable was a manager first for her husband Marc Mero and while she didn't cut promos like Lana OT wasn't Lana's promos that got her so over with the crowd it was how hot she is.

  8. I don't doubt the first part of what you said, but I feel like not letting Bryan wrestle elsewhere has more to do with the WWE "protecting their asset." Basically if he can't work for them, he can't work for anyone else. Which is as childish as it is impractical.

Of course this is all speculation.

if by protecting their asset you mean trying to keep him out of a wheel chair or god forbid another Benoit. If the the word about the tests he took is indeed true and he does try wrestling after his contract is up I will lose all respect for him, though it would be hard to imagine another company taking the risk on him.

  9. Whoever thinks that Bryan vs Lesnar is a good idea should probably think long and hard about how much they really care about Daniel Bryan. I love the guy but unless he changes how he wrestles he's just going to get hurt again, and a match with Brock at potentially WM he would go all out like usual and almost certainly get seriously hurt. I don't want to see that god bless Daniel Bryan for wanting to put on amazing matches for us but I don't want to see him crippled because of it.
