  1. Sounds interesting! I've been using TheWho's updates recently, and while I'm super impressed at the depth of the people included (quite a few that I've trained with that surprised me, with the exception of Jamie Hayter which didn't :p) I can't help but notice that large bulks of the wrestlers seem to have identical stats, which hurts my immersion a bit and makes it hard to decide who to pick up (I'm still not sure exactly how the growth works).

I tried The Who once but didn't like the stats. There is more people to choose from though. I do struggle to find good announcers and managers sometimes in my save, but now I am international level, I still get very high grades with weak or poor announcing.

  2.

I might have to do some comparison though, as I want to play as a UK company and try and sign only talent from the British Isles to begin with.

This is all I ever do. I'm 12 years into a save starting in April 2017. I used that RW mod from Fleisch. I can't comment on other mods, but hiring only British isles workers does have it challenges at first. I have an added challenge of only hiring middleweight or above wrestlers. I relax that rule sometimes but don't tend to push lightweights into the title picture.

  3. I'm actually already planning my shows for my first 'main' save. I'll be doing my usual British Wrestling save but this time round it probably won't be a local to global and I'll probably set my company to regional, or whatever the nearest equivalent is. For the first time I plan on posting my shows too, but It's likely to be a 'lite' version of a dynasty rather than posting every promo and every match commentary.
  4.

Someone like Brock Lesnar has no popularity at the start, he is virtually unknown when he first pops up on TV. There's no real way to make his debut segment good in terms of the grade it gets. Or someone like Kane.

But take Kane's debut. Awesome segment. Memorable, we still play it on YouTube to this day, everyone remembers it. Very impactful debut.

Re-produce that in TEW, and you'll just get a mediocre grade, leaving you feel like you did a bad job. Because Kane, at the time of the debut of the character, doesn't have the popularity to pull it off.

I still love the game, though.

I made a similar post recently regarding this. Totally agree.

  5. Although I partly understand/agree to some extent with your post, I just "got used to it". I understood that as a local company, I wouldn't get As or B's. I only ever played local to global saves and my current save is the longest I've ever played (11 years in), and when I reached national and got my first A match, I was elated, I realised I had achieved something I never had before. I have yet to produce my first 100 match, but when I do, again, I'll be so pleased. If I was getting A's all the way through from Local to Cult, I wouldn't have had that same feeling of satisfation once I finally achieved it after years of trying.
  6. I'm just wondering how many tag teams people have compared to their roster size. As an international size company I have about 60 wrestlers and usually try to have 10 to 12 regular tag teams.

I torn between thinking this is too much or too little. I'll explain.

If I have only 5 or 6 teams I don't feel there are enough "challengers" or competitors for the tag team titles. But with 10 to 12 teams, it seems a lot and I struggle getting then all good, equal-ish TV time.

I've even thought about scrapping my tag team division but teams are always a good way to help youngters improve.

  7. OK, not all New Gens are exactly the same, but I'm 11 years into my save and I'm finding that a good 85% of my new gens seem to have very similar stats, particularly where Gimmicks are concerned.

I only hire workers from the British Isles, so not sure if that has anything to do with it, but a large portion of new workers being generated have high "Crazy" or "Weird" stats, and little else. It's getting a little boring having the same old gimmicks being recycled and it would be nice to have some decent workers who can play "Brute" or "Cool" gimmicks.

I guess there's no way this can be influenced in-game? Am I currently playing through a hidden "Era", where these kinds of gimmicks are just popular among new wrestlers or some other reason? Is it just "Pot Luck"?

  8. <p>I appreciate all of the comments here, I'm inspired to play a historical mod but setting myself certain rules.</p><p> </p><p>

I'm thinking about WCW in 1994, but with these main rules:</p><p> </p><p>

I will not be allowed to sign a WWF Main Eventer or Upper Midcarder. I need to create my own stars UNLESS, I feel, in my oppinion, they were not booked well or I felt they deserved better. (I can only really think of Tatanka (Wouldn't have turned him heel) and Bam Bam Bigalow (would have given him some sort of gold, Tag or IC, maybe even a World Title run).</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Unfrtunately, this rule means I can't sign my favorite of all time - Randy Savage</strong></p><p> </p><p>

I will not be able to sign anyone who I know in real life, will go on to become a WWF Star, so no signing John Cena, people like that. Again, unless I feel they were not booked well or deserved better.</p><p> </p><p>

If anyone in these categories become free agents, then I am able to sign them. (In the case of people like John Cena, I will have to wait until they are signed and then released until I can consider signing them.</p><p> </p><p>

Anyone who is currently on my roster (at whichever point I decide to start) I will be able to do all I can to keep them (Steve Austin, etc.)</p>

  10. I'm interested in hearing from people who play historical mods.

What do you see as the challenge? can see playing them from a fantasy booking point of view (I want to book 96-2000 different, etc.), but what about you guys who like a challenge?

    I'll explain what I mean...

I've tried historical mods, usually 1991-1995, but I know who to hire, I know who to push. I know Steve Austin will be a star, I know The Rock will a star, I know who has potential, it kind of ruins it for me because I don't have that element of the unknown, can I get this guy into the main event? Will his star quality improve?

When I play mods with new gens or created "verses", I have no idea, and sometimes it's a case of "Suck it and see", "Let's see if this works".

Just wondering how you all treat histrorical mods......

  11. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="d12345" data-cite="d12345" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47266" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>People just need to remember that only your main event, 1 other match and top 3 angles need to hit to have a good show.<p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Really? I thought all segments had an impact in some way or another, with ME and next highest rated match having a bigger say on how the show rating goes.</p>
  12. Listened to episode 119 of Jim Cornette's Drive Thru and he made some comments I thought were interesting relating to this thread.

He was talking about Batista in OVW. He said that with his look and size, there's no way he could have been in preliminary matches, he had to be in the main event picture somehow. So they gave him a monster gimmick and pushed him. That's the kind of thing I've been talking about.

  13.

I think every single (non job-guy) person who lost to Yokozuna when he was picking up steam lost morale in doing so. Even those who saw the booking logic.

Even Hogan agreed to lose to Yoko, but wouldn't drop the belt to a (arguably) much popular, talented and experienced Bret Hart.

I think you've made a good case overall with that post, however, putting it into context of a "real life", I can see that sometime's, you just have to upset some people. However, wrestling is just a show, and in other shows I don't think you get the same mentality. I doubt actors in soap operas get upset when they are asked to get beaten up by a new character.

  14.

TEW'20 does sound like a big improvement. I've grown to hate the Auto-Push feature and how people misuse it/give it too much importance.

I'm probably guilty of using auto push too much, but even placing a "lower midcard" guy into the main event manually doesn't stop people complaining about losing to them. Yokozuna, straight into the main event because it was believable that he could beat most if not ALL of the roster. You get the same in TEW, a super heavyweight, a real unbeatable monster can't be classed as main event by "the rest of the roster", because he's not popular enough. Imagine telling Andre the giant that when he first came onto the scene. "I know you'd smash this lightweight in a real fight Andre, but he's more popular than you."

  15. In the UK

Big football matches - FA Cup Final, two big teams, final day of the season.

News events - Royal births, deaths, marriages

Worldwide news events - disasters (think 911 level)

Climax to massive soap story lines

End of a show - the final episode of a beloved TV institution (Only fools and horses 1996) (Turn out not to be the final episode but this wasn't expected at the time).

  16. How do replicate the real life cases of workers like The Undertaker or Razor Ramon? In that, I mean they come into the WWF and almost immediately they are in the main event / top upper midcard. In TEW, there's no way a "newbie" would come in and almost immediately start beating main eventers (without upsetting them, of course)

I have a worker in my game who has "it" but his pop is only setting him at mid card, and I'd like him to reach the top quite quickly.

  17. I don't know anything about the CVerse, I am hoping to change that in TEW2020, but I'd be someone who plods along, loves to sell to the stars but I'm not a jobber, perhaps a lifelong midcarder who may have a small run with a midcard title. I'd probably have a comedy gimmick but could also play a brute. Face or Heel but probably slightly better suited to heel..........Who do YOU think I'd be from the CVerse?
