  1. <p>I think personality plays a part... likely popularity as well (as I'm betting Mephisto was still a grade lower than Flores when I tried). I believe momentum plays a role too. If I remember correctly, workers won't drop their mask unless the feud is hot.</p><p> </p><p>

Still, it would be good to know well in advance if a worker would drop their mask, rather than build a feud leading to a Lucha del Apuesta and finding out the day of the match that they aren't willing to drop it.</p>

  3. <p>I struggle with the same problem. I wanted Flores to drop his hair to Hijo del Mephisto... in fact, I built both wrestlers up to have insane momentum just to pull it off and had them deliver promos, etc. ...and then Flores flat out refused to lose his hair.</p><p> </p><p>

I can't seem to get anyone to agree to it, and I'll be honest... it's deflating my enthusiasm for this save. What's the point of playing a lucha promotion if you can't do Lucha del Apuesta matches?</p><p> </p><p>

In other news, I finally gave in and got a TV Show. If everything goes well, tonight I will book the first episode of OLLIE Titanes de la Lucha Libre.</p><p> </p><p>

Also in exciting news, SOTBPW released Eduardo Prieto. Since he cost the same amount as Rafael Ruiz but represents a MASSIVE upgrade on Color Commentary, I signed him in a heartbeat. The bad news... I forgot he still had 2 weeks to go with SOTBPW and canned Ruiz right away. Now I need to fill the Color spot for the first two weeks of my new TV show. Thinking of using El Critico in the short term, as he actually has chemistry with Humberto Tortega.</p>

  4. <p>I haven't tried a TV show yet. I currently run 5 shows a month... one a week, plus my big monthly show. </p><p> </p><p>

I'm almost at $2 million, but the Economy is now turning in the other direction (mind you, it is still at A+ right now).</p><p> </p><p>

My bigger problem is building overness for my top stars. All my main eventers have insane momentum, but in 6 months none of them has moved up even a single grade.</p><p> </p><p>

What strategies has everyone else found effective at getting talent over, given the 90 percent match ratio?</p>

  5. So it finally happened... SOTBPW swooped in and stole Gino in July 2016. Mephisto just accepted a contract from them as well which means I need to move the title fast. Marcos is the obvious choice, but he is 4, pushing 5, years into Time Decline and it is starting to affect his performance. I may have to go with someone other than the storyline choice.

At the same time, PGHW just signed Mr. Lucha III to a touring contract, and BCG scooped Extraordinario Jr. to tour. Good news if they develop, bad news if they get too good for me to hold onto before I hit Cult. And my efforts to get there aren't going so hot. I continue to crank out B- shows, which means it's a slow crawl to Cult. It's going to be harder without two of my hottest talents, especially Gino the ratings machine.

The good news is the Hijo Espada Roja is improving quickly, plus he muscled up, raising his Star Quality to B-. And while Amo del Gato hasn't exactly improved his Star Quality, his top row and performance skills are rising faster than anyone on the roster.

In what I am hoping will be a good turn of events, Jungle Jack is about to become available. I've floated him a contract offer to see if he is interested. I'm a bit concerned about how deep he may be into Time Decline, but he's more popular than either of the two guys I lost and his Star Quality would instantly be among the best in the company. I've also floated a contract to Guerrero Muerte, who is tops on my Hidden Gems list.

For now, I guess I'm going to have to rely on Silver Tiger and Nicholas Lopez to carry me. The good news is that Silver Tiger is pulling some of my best ratings, so I have hope. But I expect sooner or later that SOTBPW is going to scoop him too, so I continue to look for other options. I still have El Mitico Jr. and Soda de la Uva Jr., but I don't want to rush them up the card. I think I could have a pretty solid main event one day with Mr. Lucha, Extraordinario, Soda and Mitico, enough to hold me at National, if I just take my time to develop them.

  6. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Poet Justice" data-cite="Poet Justice" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41191" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><img alt="iuAzpHs.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/iuAzpHs.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> Oh man, this is going to be awkward.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> There really is something more awkward than a Grade 8 dance! </p><p> </p><p> This might be my favourite ownership change in CVerse history. I'm curious how dramatically he is going to change things in your save. If I recall correctly, he likes to run things on the cheap.</p>
  7. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="D16NJD16" data-cite="D16NJD16" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41194" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Does anyone know how does a angle being rated on overness work for a Local company with E+ grade overness workers? Is it totally deflating the rating, or is it scaled out?</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> It'll grade according to the worker's popularity as described in the Player's Handbook... depending on if the workers particularly excel in whatever category they are being graded on (Menace, Microphone, Sex Appeal). If it is purely an Overness angle, then yeah, expect an angle grade of about E+ for workers with E+ popularity.</p><p> </p><p> The difference is that, because you are a Local company, you won't need to score high ratings to benefit from angles because your company's popularity will already be so low. Ditto your match ratings.</p>
  8. <p>So stunned, I had to share...</p><p> </p><p>

In my OLLIE save, closing in on the end of June 2016, Champagne Lover has left SOTBPW to go shoot a movie. He should get a good pop out of that, but I started to wonder how that was going to affect SOTBPW's ability to stave off USPW.</p><p> </p><p>

I wonder no more. SOTBPW just signed Nicky Champion. When Champagne Lover gets back, this company is going to be unstoppable. </p><p> </p><p>

On another note, right after he announced he was leaving to film, Lover also decided to spread the love and split with Jennifer Heat.</p>

  9. Finally wrapped my first OLLIE storyline...

When I started getting notice that Gino Montero was getting stale, I prepared to turn him. He was still in the default feud with El Critico, so the feud became about Critico taunting him into giving into his darker urges. After Gran Torneo de Parejas (The Great Pairs Tournament), Gino got fed up with losing to Critico and gave in, ambushing him after the his match to viciously beat him down.

This led to my next weekly show, where Golden Silver congratulated him on finally giving in, and asked him to join them in a new trios, El Trio Inmortal. I'm now beginning a new storyline where, for the next several months, I have plans to have them ride roughshod over the roster with Hijo Espada Roja leading the resistance.

In my other feuds, Marcos Flores is continuing to do his job to put Hijo del Mephisto over before I start moving Flores back down the card. His Time Decline is starting to kick in, and I need him to start passing those skills on to the younger talent.

And the newly rested and returned Nichola Lopez is building momentum in his feud with Silver Tiger. Ultimately, Lopez will go over, and then go on to win the Universal title back from Mephisto.

  10. I think the big risk with OLLIE (and there are a few other companies with the same problem) is that it's almost too easy to hit Cult status, and you'll be up there before you're ready.

Nah! I turned on the Regional cap for now, just until I can build up enough money and get myself solidly into Cult.

My bigger problem right now seems to be picking up popularity for my Main Eventers. I'm 20 shows in, and not a single one of them has budged a grade. Hoping to get Hijo del Mephisto up at least another grade, as I need Flores to stop complaining about a potential loss. Either that, or I'll have to eat the morale hit (which might be okay, given my Backstage is awesome right now!)

  11. <p>I'm having a ball with OLLIE right now. I'm near the end of April 2016, and no one has been stolen yet.</p><p> </p><p>

In fact, I have an overabundance of future superstars. Gino, Mr. Lucha III, Extraordinario Jr. and Electric Dreamer were all on the NBT list. And then I signed El Mitico Jr. and Soda De La Uva Jr., and they too cracked the list too. And it looks like El Mitico may have the highest ceiling of all! Beyond them, Silver Tiger is already putting on the best ratings of anyone on my roster.</p><p> </p><p>

I expect Gino will be gone soon (SOTBPW appear likely to release Jagged, so I expect they'll be looking to find someone new.) Still, I'm feeling good about reaching Cult with at least some of my NBTs.</p><p> </p><p>

And I agree about the 100 Tag Team experience thing... I brought the Luna Twins and the Asesinos in for one night stints for my tag team tournament, and they nearly botched the flow of my show with unexpectedly high ratings!</p>

  12. <p>Started a new save with my favourite company of all, OLLIE. Despite my love of the promotion, I've never had a long save with the company because I usually talk myself into "getting better at the game before I start an OLLIE save." This time, I just decided to go for it. </p><p> </p><p>

I'm running weekly shows in West Central Mexico to start, to build up to my first big show... Aniversario 61 (Seemed appropriate given that OLLIE has been open for 61 years, the longest of any promotion in the game.)</p><p> </p><p>

So I run my first weekly show, and put tremendous care into crafting it considering it was a one-off weekly, and was rewarded for my efforts: a C+ show rating. Even better was the exciting main event of Nicholas Lopez vs. La Sombra Jr., which netted me a B- score. I was thrilled with that match score. One of the best I've ever had in this game (I never play promotions above Regional.) And I immediately started imaging all the success I was going to enjoy in the coming weeks. Then a message flashed on the screen: Nicholas Lopez has sustained a back injury.</p><p> </p><p>

Now I've lost my best worker for the next two months and my first big show. Strangely, I'm more excited than ever about this save now.</p>

A six man tag, two out of three falls: The Cornell Coalition (Edward Cornell, Hugh Ancrie and Gram Gorman) defeating Hands of Stone (Johnny Bloodstone, David Stone, Jared Johnson). Hard to believe it took me this long but I've never really branched out to bigger companies, so this feels like quite the achievement for me!</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Nice! 17. Just finished watching NJPW Dontaku 2013 (I know, I know... I'm a few months behind.) And I must say, that Nakamura vs. Shelton Benjamin match was a fantastic match and I was right on the edge of my seat... and then they botched the finish. And all I could think about was Mickey James vs. Trish Stratus at Wrestlemania 22. It always sucks when a good match gets ruined by a botched finish.

I was also a bit disappointed in the main event. I had been really excited about Okada vs. Suzuki, but it seemed the match was telling the exact same story from Okada vs. Tanahashi at the last PPV... Okada overcoming the constant assault on his arm and pulling off the Rainmaker.

Regardless of this, I know people are always talking about how awesome the Junior Heavyweights are in NJPW, but I have to say, I enjoy the Heavyweight division way more!
