  1. Bumping should actually fall mostly under the Basics skill, because taking bumps is one of the bases of wrestling. When you start training, the first things they teach you are the basic fundamentals, and that always starts with bumping.

Selling is more the ability to make a move or submission and the pain from it look believable and realistic, by using facial expressions, vocal sounds (like groans of pain), and the way you use your body (holding an arm at your side or limping). Bumping can factor into selling, but only a little bit, and really comes from being able to add that extra flair to your bumps, like Hennig or RVD.

  2. There is no way to do what the NWA or Impact does with tapings, is there? Tape multiple shows in one night.

You will be able to do this in TEW2020.

I copied and pasted this directly from the Developer's Journal. (Entry #31)

Previous entries have already covered how ratings / viewership will be very important in TEW2020, and one of the new features that gels with that is the ability for companies to 'block tape' TV shows. A company can now tape up to four episodes at once. The advantage of this is that it slashes the cost of producing the show (because everything is already in place so there's no need to transport of set-up multiple times), but the disadvantage is that the further ahead a show is taped, the more its ratings are going to get reduced, therefore the company will potentially be losing out on valuable broadcast revenue.

  3. I've suspected for a while that there will be a demo bout shortly after Christmas....

More out of hope rather than knowledge. I don't even know if previous releases have had demos.

This would be awesome, but I don't expect we will get out hands on even a demo of the game until at least a month before it's release. Waiting for release is tough, because the more information that kept coming out about TEW2020 has pretty much made TEW2016 less and less playable for me. I'd be overjoyed to even just get the editor for 2020 at this point.

  5. I always had big issues with momentum because I liked to bring in a couple workers for just a few appearances to fill out tournaments or just work a few shows (as the indies are known to do), but once the contracts were fulfilled and expired, my company momentum tanked because I had "lost" those workers, despite having put on great shows. It didn't seem to have to do with regional battles either, because the momentum dropped the same day the workers contracts expired.
  6. Very cool. Out of interest, where did you find the stats for this? When I made my post I attempted to find them, especially for the WWE title, but couldn't find anything.

I'm curious if lesser promotions will qualify. Just checking on Cagematch and looking at Matt Taven, his most recent ROH World Title run will qualify as an epic title run with 11 defences, but it's ROH, which is in the doldrums right now. In real life it wouldn't hold the same weight as, for example, Okada's 2 year reign with 12 defences. I'm curious if the game will weigh that up or if it will just be a standard "10 defences and you're in" type thing.

I used Cagematch.net to do the research, it's the most comprehensive database I've been able to find out there, so I use it for almost all my wrestling research.

Adam indicated that Epic Reigns would count towards each promotions Hall of Fames too, so lesser promotions will probably take them into account when qualifying for their HOF, while any Epic Reigns with major titles in larger promotions (i.e. in WWE, NJPW, etc) will count towards the Hall of Immortals. Just my guess anyway.

  7. 10 defenses is a very fair number for the Epic Reigns. I did some research (and excluded house show title defenses since those don't happen in TEW).

For the WWE Championship, 20 out of 136 reigns would qualify.

WWE World Heavyweight title, it was 2 out of 55.

WCW World title, it is 3 out of 64.

NWA World title (counting the TNA and WCW years), it is 45 out of 96, which is almost half.

ECW World title, it is 11 out of 33.

ROH World title has 14 out of 30 qualifying, so another where it's almost half.

IWGP Heavyweight title is 3 out of 69.

GHC Heavyweight title is 2 out of 32.

AJPW Triple Crown is only 1 out of 62.

AAA Mega title is 1 out of 17.

So for most companies, it really is a rare feat to have an "Epic Reign" and then there are a few outliers where it is a bit more common.

  10. Is there anyway to adjust how fast a worker's performance skills (basics, psychology, safety, consistency, and selling) will improve?

I noticed, for example, wrestlers who work in Japan for touring companies will work 100+ matches in a year and their performance skills will grow unrealistically fast, thus making them into the best workers in the world even when some of them realistically shouldn't be. It just seems unbalanced to me.

It seems like Potential doesn't affect Performance skills. I thought their Maturity age might be it, but even workers over 30 (close to 40) are skyrocketing in performance skills.
