  1. <p>It really depends on one's personal perception of success.</p><p> There is an argument to be had that it ended Neutral for Savage and was a minor positive for Hogan. That argument being if you're on TV and not being humiliated you're better off for it, which offsets the fact that Savage ended the encounter on the losing end.</p>
  2. <p>Previously I had heard that your product definition "re-aligns" every six months so you can drastically alter your product by degrees without alienating your core audience.</p><p> </p><p> It's been a year since I last messed with the product definition and I still can't up the TV match/angle ratio from 60-70% without alienating my audience. This is after upping the dial on realism and moving my company from Pop>>Per to Pop>Per back in May. (It is presently April of the next year).</p><p> </p><p> What precisely is going wrong here? Do I have any hope of eventually making the product Pop=Per without alienating my audience?</p><p> </p><p> Edit: Um, nevermind. I apparently just succeeded by upping my 'realism' from low to medium and nothing else. Still can't move the ratio dial though. I'll try again in October.</p>

HHH had a hand in it, but that was mostly Shawn's influence. It's so bad I'm going to have to let Shawn go to WCW, completely hamstringing me in the National Battles.</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i68.tinypic.com/242eb8z.jpg</span></p><p> <span>http://i63.tinypic.com/2iw8ui0.jpg</span></p>

Between WCW sniping Piper out from under me and Shawn's antics I've found myself a little starved for star power. </p><p> </p><p> So in reality I only have 3 stars.</p>
  5. Went back to "The War Begins" May 96. Just booked Wrestlemania XIII. Unfortunately the show suffered some because I had a long running, high heat angle involving the World Champion Vader vs. Bret Hart, then the Undertaker, then Bret again. I needed Taker to play a major role in another storyline so I went to take him out, but absentmindedly ended the storyline instead. I won't lie: I backed out of the game and restarted the show with a new angle in place. In what was supposed to be the biggest match in my company to date I pulled off a 89, which was a little disappointing. Wrestlemania was an 87 overall, where I was really hoping for a 90+. But alas, didn't hurt anything. Beyond that I am, unlike in my '13 game, well into National looking at going international but trying to figure out how I'm going to break into a 3rd foreign market when none of the broadcasters in those regions will negotiate with me. But there is a problem. Unlike in my TEW '13 game: WCW has also recovered from a slow start and is now national again. Here's what the National Battle for April looked like: WWF: The Undertaker (862), Bret Hart (815), Shawn Micheals (785), Vader (722), Owen Hart (639) - Total: 3,823 WCW: Hulk Hogan (886), Sting (804), Randy Savage (796), Kevin Nash (795) and Ric Flair (778) Total: 4,059 Despite putting on shows that average roughly a letter grade above them, WCW has a definite advantage in the National Battles, and that's not the worst part. Over the course of a month, Shawn Micheals somehow succeeded in turning 2/3rds of the locker room against Bret Hart. My backstage situation has stabilized, but that's partially because I busted Shawn in a drug test and sent him to rehab for 9 months. His contract comes up in 4 months. There's no way I can tolerate his insanity. So in 4 months, WCW gets Shawn with a bow on him. I may have to get my hands dirty and bury him on the way out, as much as I would have been fine having him never work another match in the company. There's going to be a tiny window of opportunity for him to further agitate the locker room as I'm busying spoon feeding his popularity to my "almost there" heels; Steve Austin and Scott Steiner. Also: I realize that my love of Mick Foley might be costing me the National Battle. Foley is currently my #3 face...but his Star Quality is so low he'll never be a factor in National battles.
  6. I just used the tool. I've used the mod a lot and there are only two real problems I have with it. A) Really low entertainment scores across the board. B) The two biggest companies in the game wind up falling to cult almost immediately. In '13 I thought I had a good enough grip to keep WWF above the waterline, but with the National Battle system it becomes basically impossible to prevent getting knocked down a month in. WCW might be more doable, I don't know. I don't have any urge to try. I heard that Montreal Aftermath is getting a proper overhaul. I wonder if they'll make concessions to playability and make WCW's backstage less of a hopeless cesspool (even though that is completely realistic).
  7. WWF May 1996. Now at the end of August. ~I lost the first National Battle with WCW knocking me down to Cult. After this Sting and Ric Flair both had their contracts come up. I couldn't negotiate with them because I was "too small." Then WCW fell to cult after locking them up uncontested. Then Bret, Bulldog, Piper and Undertaker had all their contracts come up, which WCW was more than happy to make me pay out of the nose for. (I actually lost the bidding war with Piper. He was my world champion too). ~Bret came back and that opened the floodgates for the clique nonsense to start. Shawn has turned half the locker room against Bret in the course of 2 weeks. My locker room morale has plummeted, my attempts to reconcile the two failed horribly. Even if I were to just toss Shawn out on his ear (provided I even had enough money to pay off his contract) the damage is done at this point and I have no clue what to do about it. I'm at 42% even with 10 locker room leaders and 80% of my locker room being positive influences due to this nonsense. ~That having been said, the stage has been set for the WWF's youth movement. The old guys brought in for the sake of their star power against WCW (Piper, Warrior, Sid, Jake) are all getting phased out for younger talent with better upside and far fewer hangups. (Owen, Goldust, Mankind, Austin and HHH have all seen significant popularity gains as well as a bumper crop of developmental and young lower card talent). Things are looking good. Unless I can't get a grip on the locker room and Bret winds up getting driven out of the company. Then I fire Shawn out of pure rage and give the keys to the company to the Undertaker until my young guys are prepared to main event.
  8. 3 Months into WCW '91 game I royally messed up. Not fully understanding how broadcaster coverage works and wanting to expand my exposure to Canada I cut a deal with the only broadcaster who would deal with me and has coverage in Canada, WGN. Problem is: WGN also has coverage through the US which meant I wasn't able to renew my deal with TBS. So now instead of having 'big' coverage in the US, I have 'tiny' coverage and I am stuck in this deal for the next year. I tried getting Nitro on the air, but broadcasters don't think I can manage 3 shows at my level. I tried elevating Main Event to an 'A' show since it's still on TBS but I can't change the type of an active show. Ric Flair and Sting are both at a popularity rung where they won't negotiate with me and both their contracts come up in 3-4 months. I am in DEEP trouble. In other news: ~Due to shenanigans in a Ric Flair/Sting world title match The WCW World Title has been vacant for a month while I resolve a 30 person tournament (Ric Flair and Sting both had byes). The tournament has seen the arrival and cameos by many names in the wrestling world, like Nikita Koloff, Paul Orndorf, Terry Funk, Ricky Steamboat and Rick Rude, who shocked the world by beating Sting in the second round. ~Sid Vicious has been ejected from the Four Horsemen by Arn Anderson, who then went on to beat Sid in a series of matches. Sid has now left WCW altogether. (Thankfully no scissors were involved). ~After (finally) beating Stan Hansen in a grudge match after 2 failed starts, Big Van Vader has set his sights on the US title held by Lex Luger. ~Due to Jimmy Garvin being a drunken mess, he has been replaced in the Fabulous Freebirds by a returning Terry Gordy. Gordy however, has had misgivings about Micheal Hayes' affiliation with manager Diamond Dallas Page. Especially now that The Diamond Stud Scott Hall has come to WCW and united with "The Diamond Dude" Kevin Nash. Page insists that Stud has left the nest but Gordy remains unconvinced. ~One Man Gang seems to have been all but unstoppable, destroying everybody in his path including his mentor Kevin Sullivan. But Sullivan has returned and dealt Gang his first singles loss in months in the WCW World Title Tournament. Gang is currently TV champion but can he keep it from Sullivan? ~Backstage Dusty Rhodes' clique increases, including protegee Cactus Jack and Magnum TA in addition to Ric Flair and Dustin Rhodes. This cabal has succeeded in driving Tom Zenk from WCW. (Which I really don't mind). ~Stan Hansen's future in WCW is cloudy, as his obligations and loyalty to AJPW prevent him from being present at most major WCW shows. ~The feud between Paul E. Dangerously and Missy Hyatt has ended with Heyman in a dress. As if that wasn't embarassing enough he's drawn the affections of Norman the Lunatic. The next year is going to be rough. If I lose Sting and Flair and WWF signs them I can pretty much kiss National goodbye for the forseeable future.
  9. It's 29 and under for both. Minor note: The text has changed slightly in 2016. "Very Good" has been replaced with "Pretty Good". Don't worry about ever seeing "phenomenal." Generally the only workers who get that tag are workers who start at that level (1996 Chris Benoit is the only one I've ever seen). In one of my 96' games, Mabel wound up as Huge Star/Pretty Good. That's amazingly irritating.
  10. http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=527061 It's the January 91 mod. The mod I'm presently using. So far after month 1 playing as WCW. ~3 cliques have formed backstage: Flair/Dusty/Dustin, DDP/Nash/Sid (Sid's contract comes up in a month, so this clique will be short lived) and Sting/Luger/Lance Russell(?!?) ~Jimmy Garvin has shown up drunk once and has been visibly drunk every single time I've tried to use him since. His contract comes up in 2 months. Looks like Hayes will be flying solo. ~Tommy Rich is never not stoned out of his gourd. He is utterly useless. I can't even send him to rehab because he's on a PPA. He can ride the pine for a month. I'll test him again, he fails, he's out. ~Stan Hansen injured Ron Simmons during a 6 man match. Ron then went and turned a chunk of the locker room against Stan. Which meant I didn't have a world tag match at CotC. ~Stan also priorities his engagements with AJPW. CotC is on a Wednesday, which meant I was surprised to realize I couldn't have my Vader/Stan grudge much at CotC either. ~Dusty turned a chunk of the locker room against Tom Zenk. Now I really do not care about Zenk at all but I can't very well fire him just because Dusty's a rabble rouser. I'll probably send him on a good long vacation. ~Vader has endorsed Dustin. Sting has endorsed Brad Armstrong. Flair has slammed Brad Armstrong and praised Brian Armstrong. Dusty has slammed Zenk (duh). ~Both Sting and Lance Russell debuted new catchphrases. And here is Clash of the Champions. Historically not a PPV but it was here. (Pre-Match) Tommy Rich defeated Lance Storm. 50 (Wasn't going to do this match, but I borrowed Lance from development with the intent of putting him against Buddy Landell before I realized both were heels. Decided to see if Rich could wrestle even 1 match without being visibly impaired. He can't) The Lightning Express (Brad Armstrong/Tim Horner) defeated York Enterprises (Micheal Wallstreet/Terrence Taylor) 64 ANGLE: York Industries promo with Gordon Solie54 Scott Steiner defeated Butch Reed 72 Buddy Landell beats Shane Helms by DQ49 (Shane was way too green to be called up). Cactus Jack and Norman the Lunatic beat down Buddy 56 (Foley's debut) Missy Hyatt reveals her team to fight Paul E's team. Dustin Rhodes and Owen Hart: The Young Lions 63 The Dangerous Duo (Zbyzko/Eaton) beat The Young Lions (Rhodes/Owen) due to Steve Austin's interference 72 (Austin's debut) Paul E introduces Austin, taunts Missy 75 Dan Spivey promo61 Dan Spivey defeats JYD65 Backstage with the Horsemen82 Brian Pillman defeats Sid Vicious74 Lex Luger defeated Arn Anderson to retain the US title80 Sting Promo87 Sting defeats Ric Flair by DQ96!!! (Flair's individual performance came in at '-*'. He broke the scale).
