1. My last point on this, because it's just a circular debate of subjective opinions about a wrestling management simulator, is that much fewer people would pay to go to a football match to watch pele talk at half time, than would pay to watch Ronaldo, Messi, or Gareth Bale play for 90 minutes.

    You cannot equate the elite to those footballers though..if wwe was the Premier league then the elite would be like a Wycombe or Shrewsbury and pele would outdraw them

  2. The Elite guys aren't really niche at all anymore, considering that in the space of 2 years ROH have gone from over 6,000 fans attending an event headlined by Omega vs Cody to pulling three figures on a good day proves how much they can draw, and now they're on national television, with a proper push Omega especially could easily outdraw anything WWE throws at them.

    And on the NXT point, AEW routinely trounces NXT in viewership unless NXT promotes a Takeover level card on free television or they bring in Stars from Raw and Smackdown. They have entirely different audiences, AEW have over twice as much viewership in that key 18-35 male demographic while NXT only really thrives in the over 50s market.

    There's a reason The Elite can sell out 11,000 seat arenas and the likes of Hogan and Sting are languishing in the occasional RAW or Smackdown gig.

    Like I've said, the WWE brand is more popular than any full-time worker there, and the only real needle movers in terms of live attendance which is what I would consider a draw, are the likes of Cena, Rousey, and Lesnar.

    With your Elite example you are still talking very low numbers though and I'm not sure what you mean by omega could out draw anything..aew barely beat nxt and their fans just bang on about demos...in tew every viewer is voice equal so that argument cannot be used.

    Aew doesn't move huge ppv numbers for example and tbh if wwe brought back del rio or somebody the pop would be bigger from the casuals..i think some people overestimate the popularity of the elite to the casual fan.

    Edit: a hogan or sting q and a could sell out 11,000 seats.. you only have to look at the amount of people go to their public appearance etc

  3. To give my personal thoughts i would say outside of jericho and the other people in aew that have worked wwe I would have nobody higher than 50.. hearing someone say peter avalon is a 40 shocked me as I'd have him 25 at best...at the top end the special case of aew the elite i would have kenny at 60..cody at about 60-65.. bucks 55 as they are still very much niche.

    There is a reason aew compete with the 3rd brand neck and neck and not with the raw or smackdown.. they are not over enough

    As already mentioned though popularity is subjective to a person although these days wwe has no competition in USA and are way ahead popularity wise and their stars should reflect this.

    On the topic of older guys they do move the needle for me evidence is goldberg recently etc

  4. Enjoyed my first gameplay with this mod. My favorite thing about it are the stats, for sure. I feel they're very accurate and not overblown, or underrated for that matter. Also, I always appreciate when storylines are already started at the beginning of the mod. You weren't lying when you said this mod is fully playable.

    A few minor things I've noticed so far with WWF roster is I'd probably add Highly Moral to Bret Hart's personality as he was known to openly criticize the product headed in a riskier direction, but this is easily fixable in the in-game editor. J.C. Ice and Wolfie D don't have assigned roles in the company even though they have "wrestler" checked in their profile/editor screen, not sure what that's about. I'll keep an eye out for anything more.

    Thanks for the feedback. glad you are enjoying it.

    - I will take a look at adding that to Bret.

    - PG-13 is like that by design as at the time they never wrestled for teh company, they specifically were just "hangers on" to the NOD.

    Just a word on where we are and what is planned(work has slowed somewhat due to real life work):

    -Got PWI500 ranking for 1996 in for workers already in, there are some people not enough info to add on but a number of indy guys that are in there that are on my list to add now.

    - Possibility of adding/activating further promotions based on research of the time period(PWX,NCW,CWF (Canada),IPWA,World Class REvival, ECCW all under consideration)

    - Further on I have a list of every future worker that needs adding to basically make everyone who appeared on major PPV from WWF,ECW,WCW to this day.

    - Open to suggestions on future workers in regards to elsewhere in the world.

He is unemployed

  6. Thanks for all the feedback so far it means a lot..omega is not active for the reason already mentioned as it would tie up matt Hardy as an owner.

    Air Paris debuted in 1996 under the name kid ego before taking a hiatus so maybe I could put him on hiatus but he certainly debuted in 96 not 99.

    The hardys were both regular jobbers for wwf around that time with Jeff working 7 tapings in 1997 and matt 8. With both working some in 96 too. With such a thin roster they are there also to be jobbers on the likes or superstars where taling numerous shows is tiring.

    Great to hear about peoples struggles with wwf at the time as they have a great under card that has not yet really broken out so the early part will be a challenge against the wcw juggernaut

  7.
I contemplated adding the European title as it launched in February..it would not be the end of the world if the ai made the first champ a month early.

    Nobody will ever truly know whether owen would have left the business at that time.. main reason I have given n him witb was selfishly due to his real life untimely death i want him in my game for as long as possible right the way down to being an agent or colour guy etc

  8. V0.3 of the data added to the main post or below:

    https://www.mediafire.com/file/wbqvrehynhflnqq/1997_v0.3.zip/file

    - This includes changes suggested and errors found in both this thread and also I found myself.

    - 219 new mask and hair histories from real life lucha de apuestas records.

    - First 150 people of 1996 power 500 (Hoping to do the full 500 adding people if needed for 1996, possibly go back other years and fill in too)

    Also updates mod stat numbers on main post

  9. Thanks for the mod. I am currently doing an ECW save and noticed a couple of small things

    -Terry & Dory Funk are missing their blood relationship

    -I believe that Beulah and Tommy Dreamer were dating at this point

    -IIRC, ECW was taping 4 episodes of Hardcore TV at a time

    Thanks for the feedback will add the relationships in.

    As for the taping I have checked around it seems anywhere from 2,3 or sometimes 4 could be done, most commonly they taped 2 at a time so will go with that.

  10. TNT should be a commercial cable network.

    Dusty Rhodes should be a retired wrestler.

    Hollywood Hogan had been WCW's figurehead since July 1994, I would say.

    I will make those amendments for next release..as I am from the UK I have to rely on information on the Internet in regards to TV networks etc so any other usa or indeed anywhere else in the world you feel need changing in style then feel free to let me know

    Got a decent amount of mask and hair Histories done now not many left to add from my list. Then ill likely release another beta by the weekend

    From there I am wanting to work on a few things including looking at doing something in terms of move sets..a couple new promotions I am considering and a deep dive on future worker additions too..so plenty to be thinking about going forward

  11. Just something product related I was thinking about is differentiating between tv and event as with ecw in 1997 I am expected every show to have

    Wild brawl

    Hard-core

    Mayhem/car crash

    On a one hour TV show this does not really leave much scope for much else.

    I would like to see that rule used for events which are longer but for tv maybe like only ask for 1 of the three each episode or something

  12. Played a few weeks as the WWF and i'm loving the mod so far. Just something I noticed... Yokozuna hadn't appeared for the WWF since Survivor Series 96 and actually never appeared for them again. He was having huge issues with his weight at this time and didn't wrestle at all for 2 years.

    Sorry totally missed this yesterday. Yoko was technically still employed until early 97. What I will do is add an injury at the start of the database to signify he cannot work and also lower his physical.

    Have today fixed the cruiserweights issue, sorted a couple of other bits too including I found Perry Saturn accidentally only had one appearance left on ECW.

    This will all be in the next beta along with other tweaks including mask and hair Histories which I'm working on got 106 so far after going through the aaa roster and a couple of cmll

  13. Thanks for the feedback.. the explosive thing i had down to fix previously..

    The rock star quality has not been nerfed for a gimmick..it is less because with the goofy haircut etc and the way he carried himself when he first came in he does not deserve more..star quality on this game unlike others can increase over time..the rock in my tests grew in star quality based around potential and other attributes

  14. There are two types of loyalty in the game.. loyalty and Japanese true born

    From the hand book

    Loyalty

    If a worker has loyalty to a company (not to be confused with having a Loyalty relationship with the owner or booker) then they will not accept contract offers that would cause them to leave the company that they are loyal to, they are far more likely to be hired and far less likely to get fired by the company (when Al controlled), and they will never choose to move on from an ongoing deal. Loyalty can either be Normal or True Born depending on the settings of the company they are loyal to. The difference is that True Born is designed to simulate the Japanese system whereby young workers who came through the system have intense loyalty to their employer. Mechanically, it does everything that regular loyalty does but, as it's more public, the worker can gain popularity more quickly in that company because the fans are more invested.

    Loyalty can be preset via the editor. During gameplay, loyalty is created when a company uses its 'first refusal' to sign a graduate from one of its training facilities.

    Loyalty can be lost when the company closes or if the worker is released (other types of departure, such as contract expiry, do not affect it) and also in situations where a worker is particularly unhappy. Later in their career, a worker may choose to abandon their loyalty in order to seek out new challenges (although this is rare).

  15.
Looks like some great work gaz just a couple notes

    When you listed the wcw roster you had Jericho as heel.. pretty sure at the time he was face as he came in and worked Benoit who was heel.

    The other thing I noticed from the screenshots is that there seem to be mercenaries.. bullies and professionals..i am guessing attrbutes have not been sorted yet since conversion...if they have im not sure I would personally have taz down as a Bully.

    Said it before but love the new pictures

  16.
Main post has been updated with beta release V0.2.

    - Updated with suggestions and thoughts from the thread

    - WCW changes brought up have been made

    - Other changes brought up have been made

    - TV Network expectations altered to lower levels to avoid not being able to meet their demands.

    - 368 new worker pictures (varying in quality as beggars cannot be choosers in the time period on indies)

    For those too lazy to go main post:

He was done in the ring by end of January and officially retired by August;

- VK Wallstreet was wrestling under the Michael Wallstreet moniker at the time;

- Mark Madden was already working with WCW at the time, not really sure about Scott Hudson;

- A bunch of people that should in WCW's roster: Psychosis, Ciclope, Damien (who was also wrestling under such as Galaxy and Space Cadet) and Vilano IV;

- Maybe change WCW Power Plant to a performance center? There were a couple of wrestlers who were sent there for training, plus according to the handbook, football players are more probable to come for PCs and WCW had Bill Goldberg, Steve McMichael and one could also consider Kevin Greene;

- Billy Silverman should be at WWF.

I will maybe lower anderson physical condition a little more.. i am reluctant to put anything that makes him definitely retire because otherwise the user never has any control on him if that makes sense?

Will alter wallstreets name.. another thing I thought I had done tbh and add the people you mentioned to the roster.

On the topic of the power plant that could be a great shout changing it to a performance centre

Broadcasters are something still being worked on as they changed a lot from 2016 in the conversion ill have a look at raw specifically for next beta as that's high

Jc ice and wolfie d are no roles for a reason as they just hung around the nation and did not wrestle at the time

  18.

So I see that most companies do not have women's wrestling enabled. Have you simmed many years out to see if they eventually add women's wrestling? As WWF did not have a women's division and WCW had a women's champion but no womens division to speak of (i tried giving them one but they hire like 12 women) its a strange situation.

Just a note:

I discovered when messing around some broadcasters standards are too high and WCW and WWF production are probablies a bit low so they will be altered for next beta.

Also despite me remembering to change it goldust should be face but for some reason he is heel, again something changed for next beta,
