Ross asks him how he feels and Magnum says he feels great and at the Cup, Rick Rude will…. Suddenly Rude flies into the scene and attacks Magnum from behind. He tries to whip Magnum into the ringpost but Magnum reverses it and Rude flies up into the air, striking the post. He gets up out of instinct and Magnum launches some right hands into his head. Rude stumbles back and takes off up the aisle. He begins by asking Heenan if they’re worried about what Dusty Rhodes said last week. Heenan laughs it off and tells Tony to read between the lines, or in this case the bruises. Yes they beat up Dusty Rhodes but if you look between his bruises you see there is more work to do! Tully interjects and agrees with Heenan. He says he didn’t complete the job two weeks ago but after the Crockett Cup he will not only leave as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, but he’ll finish what he started and Dusty Rhodes will be so black and blue he could go undercover in Harlem. Ole and Arn get in some parting thoughts promising to add to their hardwear. Arn says they are the best and it starts soon with the Guererros. Horner is beat down for several minutes before Savage ends it with a big flying elbow off the top. Savage asks Ross if he saw what he just did and cuts him off before the answer saying simply ‘pure domination’. Savage says he’s not just the greatest United States Champion of all time he’s the greatest champion of any type of all time. And there is not a man who can touch him. Woman’s attention is drawn off camera for a minute and then we see why. Bruiser Brody walks up to the group, looking down at Savage’s belt causing the Champion to hand it to Woman and looking like he’s ready to fight the New Mexico wildman. Joe Malenko is in trouble and Hart climbs onto the apron to argue with referee David Manning. This allows Dean Malenko to run around the ring and strike Tommy Rogers with Hart’s megaphone. Dean then slips into the ring and blasts Bobby Fulton in the back of the head with it. He puts his brother on top and rolls out and instantly Hart stops arguing. Manning turns and sees the cover and makes the three count. Magnum is sporting a protective neck brace and sits gently after shaking their hands. Magnum apologizes for missing last week’s show when he had been advertised for it, but he had a small situation which needed his full attention. Before he can say much more Rick Rude walks out on the set looking very swarmy. Rude tells Magnum that he thought he’d seen the last of him when they were loading him onto a stretcher but maybe he needs to finish the job. Magnum says that’s why he’s here. He slides a legal folder across the table to Rude. Rude looks a little confused and reads it before asking if Magnum is joking. Magnum says he’s not. He’s signed that contract for an unsanctioned match to be held at the Crockett Cup….inside a steel cage. Rude can barely contain his amusement. He asks Solie if Magnum has been checked for brain damage to want Rude in a cage match in his condition. Magnum says if Rude has the guts he’ll sign. Rude smirks and motions for Colt to hand him a pen and he signs it. As he’s walking away Magnum calls him back and says he has one other thing to tell Rude. He stands and removes the neck brace. Staring at Rude with pure intensity he tells him that at the Crockett Cup, in the cage, he’s going to kick his ass! Suddenly Magnum bolts from where he stands and tackles Rude and the fight is on! Magnum definitely gets the better of the situation and Rude runs off. Magnum picks up the contract and shows it to the camera while mouthing ‘You’re mine!’ <div style="color:rgb(16, 90, 186);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:3px solid rgb(255, 184, 43);"></div> <b>THE ROAD WARRIOrS W/PAUL ELLERING VS RON BASS AND DUTCH MANTELL W/JAMES J. DILLON</b> Bass and Mantell are usually able to bully and overpower their opponents but to no one’s surprise they failed at that in this one. Try as they might, neither Animal or Hawk is phased much by their attacks and when the tide turns it never goes back. The Road Warriors show their opponents just what it’s like to be pushed around. At one point Dillon climbs onto the apron but Ellering runs around the ring and yanks him down which nearly leads to a fight. Finally Animal gets Mantell up on his shoulders and Hawk hits the Doomsday Device for the win. Everyone has seen the brackets for the Crockett Cup and in a few short days he and Duggan will get their hands on Ivan and Nikita and when it’s over they’ll be going back to Moscow with their tails between their legs. He specifically targets Houston’s left knee but when he goes for a figure four, Houston kicks him off into the corner. When Landell stumbles back, Houston rolls him up for a quick three count. WINNER BY PINFALL: SAM HOUSTON After the commercial break Schiavone and Ross are joined by the NWA World Heavyweight Champion Dusty Rhodes. Rhodes makes a point to shake their hands and welcome Ross to Jim Crockett Promotions. He then turns his attention to Tully Blanchard. He talks about the beating he took last week defending that young man. He goes into detail of the pain each hit of the chair did to his body. He pulls off his t-shirt and turns his back to the camera where the bruises are still evident. Rhodes says that every swing of the chair, ever beating, every slap in the face will be worth it because in three weeks he gets his hands on Blanchard again and there will be no turning of the cheek and there will be no forgiveness. Blanchard’s expression changes to a vengeful smile as he begins beating Rhodes with the chair instead. He finally backs up and drops the chair before leaving with Heenan. Tully says it’s going to take more than pig slop and hay bales to beat him in a month. It’s going to take more than Dusty has and that means Tully will be the next NWA champion. Dusty begins to retort when Tully slaps him across the face. Before Dusty can hit him back Blanchard quickly reminds us that the terms of the contract say Dusty can’t touch him or he is stripped of the title. Dusty bites his anger down, clenching a fist but holding back. Tully knows he has him and smirks wider, taunting Dusty inches from his face before slapping him again. Dusty takes a half step forward but again stops himself. Tully calls him a coward, collects his glasses and walks away with Heenan. As his muscle stands on the outside the veteran and former world champion punishes Mulkey until he ends the match with a grounded bear hug. Ivan does all the talking and says they’re entering the Crockett Cup and when they win it, they will take those United States Tag Team Championship belts to Moscow and will present them to Secretary-General Gorbechev so they can be displayed in the Kremlin as a show of victory over the United States. When his younger opponent is sufficiently weakened, Rose hits a gut wrench suplex for the win. After bad mouthing Brad all match long Piper slaps on the sleeper and the referee soon calls for the bell when Armstrong can’t respond or fight back. Piper backs off and charges but Bob ducks it and stuns him with another right hand, before whipping Piper into the ropes and hits the backdrop. Piper rolls out of the ring holding his back as Armstrong checks on his son.
