After a lengthy meeting with Ted Turner, Jim Herd (pictured above) has been sacked from his role as Executive Vice President of World Championship Wrestling. Turner was apparently less than impressed by the recent actions of Herd who appears out of touch with the wrestling world as a whole. Creating a lumberjack with dancing bears and suggesting a hunchbacked tag team (who couldn't be pinned) were just some of the list of hair brained ideas Herd concocted. Rumours are even circulating that he tried to pitch a team of bell wearing wrestlers called the Ding Dongs.

As bad as these ideas were it's his failure at managing the backstage area that really cost Herd. The Road Warriors and The Midnight Express (excluding Eaton) walked out of WCW because of him, and there are rumours that both Ric Flair and Stan Hansen wouldn't have been far behind them.

Turner needed someone the locker room respected who had knowledge of the wrestling world. Enter Harley Race.

A true legend of the NWA, he helped build the likes of Dusty Rhodes and Ric Flair. Not seen on WCW TV since October 1990, he injured his shoulder at a house show ending his in ring career. Can he find a new career as the booker of World Championship Wrestling?

I'll be using a modified version of the Rising Storms mod for this diary. I figured it'd be fun. I'll hopefully post the first instalment within the next couple of days, if there is an interest.
