  1. Thanks! It does feel good to have a company and product that I like. WWE just got so stale and boring. And I lost interest in ROH when WWE came calling and took (almost) every single talent they ever had. Gotta give credit to the Briscoes for not selling out. And I think Cody would do better in politics than the Jon Moxley in my save. Especially after he JUST got out of rehab. BTW, nice to meet you buddy. I've been lurking these boards for years but never started posting until recently.

Full disclosure I don't spend much time here, I haven't bought TEW2020, but it's nice to meet you too. I hope you continue to enjoy wrestling and good luck with the game.

  2. Fill me in. I haven't watched wrestling in real life for many years. Although once I found out CM Punk returned to AEW, along with them signing many big names I've been trying to catch up since All Out. I am super impressed with AEW and feel the itch being scratched like when I first discovered Ring of Honor years ago.

I'm glad to hear it! Welcome back! I've been watching them since day one and I also feel like I have wrestling back in my life the way I want it to be after years in the wilderness.

Cody at one time discussed in an interview his ambition to try politics at some point.

  4. Just wanted to ask this again because it got caught in the dreaded "last post on a page" spot from which nothing returns:

Is there any way to get road agents & referees off of the dropdown box when booking a match? I can go into the screen where you edit their name/photo and uncheck the "Road Agent" box, but they still appear as an option when I'm booking.

Nothing you can do about it, hopefully it gets patched in.

If it helps people 'see' their roster, rock on.</div></blockquote><p> Honestly its just terminology that makes a great deal of sense to feature in the game. Its both insider terminology that makes sense in the game's context and also very familiar to wrestling fans so immediately understood.</p>
  6. Thanks.

Clash is set to a throwaway because I was trying to get the AI to use it and control the attendance. I'm only using Normal event for big events like WrestleMania, Starrcade, or others that have extra attendance. So, normal is a bit too high for me as it was more of a TV special than an event. I'll bump it up to Lesser. Hog/Road Wild is staying Throwaway though. Be glad I can't set ticket pricing for them or they'd be free too. ;)

I'd love a seasonal show that triggers 4 times a year. That would make it much easier to simulate Clash of the Champions and Saturday Night's Main Event.

Got you so things are set up for simming purposes. So something I noticed that confused me, The Enforcers having 25 tag experience when the team hadn't formed yet, is so that when the AI books WCW to try to get them to use the team. So a player may want to sort of look out for things to double-check and make sure they're accurate for the time so as to not be accidentally gamey and use tag experience that wasn't really there..a small mental adjustment I can make, just seeing if I understand how it works.

  7. If their only marketable attribute is in-ring action, then the best way to put them over is with in-ring action. Talking angles are going to be an uphill battle to get them over, as they should be. The best you can do is to rate them on the highest thing for that person (so maybe even a guy with relatively low menace can go on menace as long as it's higher than his pop and SQ and whatnot). Once the pop gets close to being the highest, switch to Overness.

But mostly I'd recommend a different approach. If you want to use angles and their fighting works, have them attack/brawl with people backstage. You can even set it up to still have the manager cut a promo while they are laying the boots to a well known wrestler on camera.

Thanks so much! I think I'll look to have them do brawls with other teams so I can rate them on fighting and they can work with other teams who have better charisma. Hopefully Armstrong picks up at least a little something.

  8. <p>I hope this is what helping looks like. </p><p> </p><p>

-Should Terri Runnels have the Runnels name?</p><p>

-Looking at the Handbook, I'm not sure Clash of the Champions should have Intent set to Throwaway. Throwaway is for charity shows or other one-offs that can be outside of continuity and have no expectations, so the Clash should probably be Normal intent.</p><p> </p><p>

I think you've done a great job with the mod because I love the way you did the stats, everything feels good. Thanks again for all the work.</p>

  9. Aaaaaah... thank you! =)

I searched for very long. Maybe it also should be in "Contracts". ;-)

Glad you got it, I should have been more clear in my response to you.

When you say "won't score well no matter what", what do you mean exactly?

If they have super low popularity, entertainment skills, star quality, sex appeal AND menace, then you should probably rate them on overness, just because with low skills in everything else, that's likely to give them the best rating.

If you want to be extremely gamey, you could rate them on Fighting or Selling (unless their brawling/puro/hardcore AND selling are also all really low... although at this point I'd start to question why you hired him :p).

If it's a storyline you're worried about advancing, then off-screen (or on screen but not rated) isn't a problem, the storyline will still advance.

I'm not sure if a worker needs to actually be rated on something in order to gain anything from an angle, to be honest. I always assumed they did, but "not rated" might be fine.

Yes I think that's the crux of it. I want a manager cutting a decent promo to put over good ring workers with none of those skills you listed (Brad Armstrong and Tim Horner, The Lightning Express). I'm sure winning matches will help but thought I could supplement the pop (and momentum?) gains with manager promos.

Rating on fighting does seem too gamey so maybe I'll do some testing. Thanks for the response.

Where it says "Popularity" clicking either the left arrow or the right arrow brings up contract details. </p><p> </p><p> Just a thought and maybe I'm overlooking something, I feel like next to popularity in yellow, it should say "Contract Details" in grey to show the option is there, then when you toggle over to contract details, "Contract Details" switches to yellow and "Popularity" switches to grey, just to show you toggling back and forth. That way from the start it wouldn't be hidden. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Might anyone have a thought on how to do a manager promo for a worker who won't score well no matter what I rate them on? Even though they're just standing around while the manager is talking I think I still need to have them on-screen and rated in order for the segment to affect them.</p>
  11. I hope it lives up to your expectations. It would be great if this iteration could see a host of new players get to experience the game world. :)

I'm here for it, London. I'd quite like to play a non-RW database but not feeling this iteration of the CV at all! I think I'll give the L-Verse a spin.

  12. Bret returned to TV in August and announced he was staying with WWE, he was given $125,000 a month for 3 years and would then recieve a garenteed 7 more years as a Road Agent on a lower amount. He only left because vince did a u turn on the deal and pulled the screw job. You'd have to screw him or fire him to get him off the books or keep in around on the big wage.

If your playing as WCW i would just alter his contract length in the in game editor

If I'm playing as WCW, what length should I give his contract?

  13. Oh man, there are so many to choose from. I was 12 during the attitude era and there were a lot of great moments that still give me nostalgia shivers thinking back on them, but I think my favorite wrestling moment was more modern. It was when Shinsuke Nakamura won the Royal Rumble.

This was the first and only time I ever cried over pro wrestling.

I know, sounds super lame, and I was totally embarrassed at the time, but it was really a combination of things. Before Shinsuke came to NXT, my only exposure to him was during me and my husbands annual Wrestle Kingdom viewing. I was very skeptical of all non-WWE wrestling all those years ago, and my husband was a big indy nerd (though he'll deny it, lol) and he always wanted me to watch more wrestling with him. I can't remember how he got me to agree to watch WK, but he did, and the only thing I remember from that first WK (I think it was 9) was my husband telling me that I was going to love Shinsuke. I was skeptical, because my husband has a very bad track record of recommending things to me (he tends to assume I'll like everything he likes if I just give it a chance), but the second he came out and did his entrance I was hooked. It sticks in my memory for two reasons, one because I couldn't believe how cool Shinsuke was, and two because I felt really close to my husband because he knew enough about me to know that I'd be totally into Shinsuke. It still makes me smile thinking about it.

Fast forward to 2018. At this point I'd been watching WWE again (I stopped as a kid in 2002) since about 2006 or so pretty regularly with some short two or three week breaks in between. I got to see so many highs and even more lows, and by this point I was nearly totally done with WWE. It seemed like every time they had a sure thing, they did everything possible to screw it up. They'd take my favorite wrestlers and either give them nothing or build them up only to constantly lose the big match, then do nothing with them for months until they decided to try again. I went into this RR expecting to hate it. Roman was winning, of course. He had to. It was the worst move they could make and Vince always, always makes the worst move. But then Shinsuke made it to the final 4.

It was him, Cena, Roman, and Finn Balor. Two people I hated at the time (Cena and Roman) and two people I really liked. When Cena eliminated Balor and Shinsuke eliminated Cena, I knew it was over for Shinsuke. He'd just gotten his bug rub. He threw out John Cena. That was the consolation prize for his eventual loss. I can't really express how emotionally invested in this match I was. It's so stupid, because it's freaking wrestling, FFS, but to me it felt like this was going to be a night of Vince personally telling me that he didn't want me watching this product that had been a part of my life, in one way or another, since I was a little kid. It was yet another form of entertainment media that changed from something I loved into something that seemed to actively despise its long term fanbase. I was dreading seeing Roman win. It was going to be a final middle finger from this product that was honestly exhausting to watch and follow, and it was going to do it by once again shoving my favorite wrestler into the garbage for the sake of my least favorite.

    And then Shinsuke won.

I was sitting next to my husband, who had introduced me to Shunsuke, expecting the worst possible thing that could happen in this product to happen...and Shinsuke won. You hear it in fiction all the time, when the POV character says something like "I didn't even know how tense I was until I felt it bleeding away", and that's exactly how I felt. It was this huge emotional dam breaking inside of me, and I couldn't help crying. I tried to hide it from my husband, because that's what I always do when I cry over a fictional show (which happens way more often than I'd like to admit...), but eventually I just gave up and told him. And instead of teasing me or being weird, he hugged me and just let me cry over this dumb wrestling show.

And then Shinsuke said he was going after AJ at WrestleMania, and for one night I fell in love with WWE (which at the time was still mostly synonymous with pro wrestling as a whole for me, though not anymore, thank god for AEW) all over again. My favorite New Japan match was going to be done over again at Wrestle-freaking-Mania.

For that one moment, WWE could do no wrong.

Of course that didn't last, but even with all the crap that followed that finally led to me giving up WWE forever, this still stands out as my favorite wrestling moment.

So yeah, that's my way too long post. Sorry for taking up so much space, but I've never talked about this anywhere before, and it was nice to finally write it all out and organize my thoughts.

Awesome post! Thanks for sharing all of this.

I fell in love with Shinsuke when he came to NXT and went live to see him beat Samoa Joe for the NXT Title in Brooklyn. I couldn't believe it when he won the Rumble but I also felt the disappointment afterward when his match with Styles was just boring. It was the combination of Styles/Shinsuke being boring when it should have been good, and at the same time Daniel Bryan came back and it took them a few weeks to make him feel like just another guy...those two things got me off of WWE. I just thought "what am I even hoping for?"

But my love for Nakamura and his NXT run got me into New Japan, and as you say, thank God for AEW!

I cry for a lot of movies and TV too lol

  14. No idea why you're getting so much hate. I kind of feel the same way.

I will 100% buy the game and am eagerly waiting for it to come out so I can lose my life to it. The hype has died down massively for myself and I'm just not that excited for it until its like a week away. There being a release date now is nice, however, and helps quite a bit.

I think obviously a lot of the blame for the way you and I (and probably others) feel is due to us. TEW 2020 was going to develop the way it was going to develop and its no ones fault (pretty sure you understand that).

We just want the product here and now because that's just the way things are anymore. But I'm confident when we get teh final product it will already be polished and ready to go. I'm excited - but I've had to dull it down because there's no reason to get excited for something that is still miles away.

So I understand where you're coming from - I do think its your (and my) own fault.

What's the release date? I can't find it in the dev journal.

  15. I shall update the previous post!

Thanks, I just did one. I had Undertaker and Jeff Hardy re-creating their famous match in the 2nd round. Undertaker loses to Triple H, who goes to the final and is upset by Jericho for the win!

Then in the final of the loser bracket, Chris Benoit avenges a loss to Edge in the original tourney and Jericho has to face his partner.

Interesting you have Raven as a face, I wonder what that character is like.

  16. Just made a bracket for my KOTR 2001 tournament on Challonge and noticed there is a possibility to open up for predictions!

There is both a winner's and loser's bracket, so a pretty huge tournament for the 16 men involved. The winner will recieve a world championship oppurtunity.

So if yall want then predict away!

Could you tell us who is face and who is heel?
