1.
Has anybody ever come up with a good way to emulate a Lumberjack match?

I'm thinking of simply renaming a cloned regular 1 vs 1 and filling the match with as many distraction and/or interference notes as I can fit (up to 8 spots after choosing a victor and match aim, I believe). This is mostly to give my roster more spots on the card without resorting to battle royals, 2v2v2v2 tags and such. Are there any drawbacks I'm not seeing?

Your only real options are to wait for the current owner retire/die/get fired (if they're a CEO) or take over via Add New Player/Leave Game shenanigans.

In the latter case, your avatar would technically still be employed by the company the whole time, but it would wipe all your stats, storylines, notes, ect. Functionally, it'd be just like you left the company either way.

 3. I got the number because when you create an alliance you can set the limit from 3 to 10. I forgot there was a default setting for no limit. My bad. I don't think there's any good way of going about this without leaving the booker position first. I suppose you could try editing the current owner to be 75 or older, set his birthday for the next month and just hope he retires. Even then there's no guarantee you'll get the ownership spot over another AI controlled character.

I'd recommend it. I don't think you'd get any issues with them not working shows.

Cool. I can't do anything about the decline penalties, but maybe I can avoid rustiness.

He's been working for me as an authority figure for a while, but his "never involve in-ring work" contract ends next month so I'll finally be able to pull the trigger on this. I'm going to run an injury storyline, send him away for however long it takes, then bring him back to get stomped in his revenge match. Hopefully it all works out.

 5. Juhaninski is it right, it's probably due to the announcer lacking in popularity. You know how workers are given individual ratings in the match results window to give you an idea of how each guy contributed? If one guy's rating is significantly higher or lower than everybody else's it'll say things like "So-and-so carried the match" or "Such-and-such struggled to keep up". This is the equivalent for angles -- "Manager A looked dreadful", "Wrestler C looked like a star out there", ect. Each alliance has its limit set at creation, but the hard cap appears to be 10 since that the highest it goes in the editor. I suspect that shooter dojos tend to produce higher Submission and Toughness whereas technical schools are focused more on Chain and Mat Wrestling. Just my guess. I'm not certain, but I don't think there's any way to control what you get through randomly generated workers. I do have an idea on how to get more workers of specific backgrounds: if you've got regeneration turned on, you could keep an eye out news about guys who are retiring soon and edit their nationality and race (and maybe set them to debut without a picture). The yet-to-debut regen that's produced when they finally retire would then keep those settings. You could then re-edit the original worker back once the new guy has been generated. It'd take a year for them to finally debut somewhere (which unfortunately means they could immediately end up signed to someone's developmental since I don't know a way to control what dojo they graduate from), but it's the best way I can think of to generate specific traits. Granted, you could also just go into the editor and change the name and race of any yet-to-debut worker manually, but this way feels a little more... pure, I guess. ...thinking about it, I might do this myself to add to the game's Indian population (a whopping 4 currently), but I'll have to import some appropriate names first since their aren't any in the default database. --- My own question: would sending a Semi-active wrestler down to developmental with a focus on Remove Ring Rust actually be effective? I'm eyeballing somebody for a couple of Once in a Lifetime matches, but they haven't worked in ages. If I sent them to my developmental, they'd be unlikely to work any actual shows because of their status, but I get the feeling that wouldn't matter. Has anybody got experience with this?

Just look for guys who excel in at least one of the three technical skills (mat, chain and submission) and have high performance skills. It doesn't matter if they're techincally an Entertainer, or a Psycho or whatever.

What is the use for lift the crowd and how does it differ from work the crowd?

I only use calm the crowd in a circumstance where I want to set up a technical masterclass/specticle/epic/once in a lifetime. So at what point do I need to lift or work the crowd?

Sometimes I used work the crowd as an opener but it doesn't seem to add any benefit.

Work the crowd is more of a way to keep a crowd steady so you don't burn them out if you're running a string big matches in a row. For an opening match, you'd want to lift the crowd instead, since it's specifically get the crowd hotter.

Personally, I don't really use either of them unless circumstances force it. I prefer to control the crowd by, for example, running a mid-carder match I know won't do as well to cool the crowd a bit before my bigger matches. Good old piss break matches.

 7.

Does the Mayhem match aim always get "The crowd didn't like the overbooked nature of the match" note or is it because my product settings? I know it says it limits the match quality, is the road agent note the visual example of that?

You're getting that note because Mayhem automatically adds the Overbook note to matches. Overbooking won't go over well with any product that's not highly entertainment oriented, so yes, it's your product settings.

 8. It's pin or submission only, so they can move about freely. It's really more of a gauntlet match (new workers come in whenever somebody gets eliminated) with four guys at once than a traditional over-the-top battle royal. Good. That's sensible. You can alter user characters just like any other worker in the editor. You can even search for them in particular via the filter.
 9.
I hold a big Halloween-themed event every October, traditionally headlined by a special battle royal with a tournament title as the prize. It finally hit Historic importance last year, which begs the question: if I main event with this match would all 20 participants suddenly gain 10% towards Hall of Immortals due to headlining a historic event? If that's the case, I'll have to consider placing it somewhere else on the card because that seems kind of wonky.

This is the match if anyone's curious. It got an upgrade from 10-man to 20 when I hit National.

 10.

I've never really used match aims, as I've never been able to use them proberly.
But what would be the best for a Street Fight? Car Crash, Mayhem, Wild Brawl? Something else completely?

I wouldn't suggest Mayhem because it's got a cap on how high your match rating can be. It's best suited for covering poor workers who probably wouldn't hit the rating cap anyway.

Wild Brawl is okay, but it has to be short (it's a stamina hog and it gets penalized if it's 16 minutes or more). It also might bite you if put in the wrong spot because it needs an already hot crowd.

Personally, I'd go with Car Crash. It's simpler to place on the card for someone not used to match aims because it can easily be used as your opening match since it specifically gets the crowd hot and buzzing like good opener should. You do need good psychology though. (In my case, it'd also satisfy a product requirement, which is nice.)

 11. I'd simply clone a scaffold match and add a steel cage to the set-up. Maybe change it to car park/backstage if the crane isn't supposed to be suspended over the ring. You'll want to change the match prestige to very high, because the AI books high prestige matches more rarely.
 12.

If I have a long term injured wrestler, can he be used as a colour commentator?

You can, but only if they have one of the types of injury that still allows them appear in angles.

I am not sure if giving a personality push to an injured wrestler will create any kind of negative impact on their morale for being assigned a "wrong" push.

Nah, workers don't seem to care about their push at all if they're injured.

 13. Alright, cool. Now I just need to decide if I want to modify the belt to Midcard or not -- I don't really book it like one, but it's definitely not my main title either. I don't think you can do it directly via the filter in the Workers section, but there is a way to specifically find workers suited to any given gimmick. Go to your roster and click on anybody's gimmick, doesn't matter who, to bring up the Gimmick Change window. Pick the gimmick you want from the list, then click Casting Call. Hit the All Workers button and you'll get a list of every worker in the game capable of pulling off the gimmick. The window even has a convenient Filter button to refine your search.

You technically are losing pop and momentum each month, but you can completely negate it with great shows. As long you don't have several promotions ahead of you, it's not much of an issue.

How do you up the prestige of a TV Show and a PPV?

TV prestige is based on how long it's been on the air. It's really not very important anyway - the only real benefit a prestigious show gets a little more leeway from networks before it gets canceled for poor ratings.

Events rise based on their show ratings relative to their current prestige. There's no good way to farm it. Just put on quality shows and it'll eventually hit legendary years from now.

---

I've got a question of my own: do floating titles count as main event titles in regards to the Hall of Immortals?

I ask as I've noticed that California Love Machine now has 10% towards the hall. He's never headlined a show, he has no 100-rated matches, he's never been wrestler of the year, nor a national icon. Process of elimination points towards floating title he currently has.

I was under impression that belts need to be Main Event level to count as a major championship, but I guess not. Maybe it depends on the prestige of the title when it was won? Can anyone confirm?

 15.
I was looking through some of the other promotions for the first time in ages and I noticed that BHOTWG wasn't doing so great. They're currently sitting at a 65% average popularity in Japan, but haven't been in any battles recently, so I was looking into why they were dropping.

This is their most recent show. Am I crazy or is that show rating too low?

http://i.imgur.com/nOF0tHm.jpg

Since BHOTWG don't use angles, their show rating should calculated as 70% from the main event (77 in this case), 20% from the second best match (78), and 10% for the average of the rest (68.6). ...it's been so long since I've been in school that I've forgotten how to actually figure that up (derp), but I see how it could be lower than the mid 70s.

Their other recent shows that I looked at follow this same trend. What am I overlooking? A penalty for poor AI booking skill, maybe?

Is the deaths setting an absolute "none" or more like "minimal but realistic"? I'm not criticising either way, just trying to understand it.

That just prevents anyone from randomly dying young. Natural death (old age and drugs) still occurs.

 17.

She's only "good" in ring, not great or excellent, so I assumed this was due to her popularity. So far since the brand split she's only averaging 85 so it's been a noticeable drop off, as there has been with quite a lot of people (and I don't think it's because I've split the roster, most matches I do even if they are people I've used together before are disappointing me with the ratings).

Well, I mean, popularity is an important factor in match ratings even in performance>pop promotions -- it still accounts for something like 25-30% of the formula.

How did the split effect her level of competition? Was she being carried by more skilled opponents that she no longer has access to? Like when WWE split their roster, it means the 4 Horsewomen have to wrestle the Nia Jax's of the world more often instead of each other.

 18.

Thanks for that, I'm yet to try and Development fed, but it's one of the things I want to do soon.

I'm still a bit stumped as to how this has happened, and more so, why I can't change it. It doesn't seem right that as the owner I can't set the product to whatever I want. Sure there could be a warning like "Our fans aren't used to this and it may hurt our popularity" or whatever, but barring me from doing it at all seems strange. I even thought it might be something to do with particular Broadcasters, but it doesn't seem to be that either.

Guess I may just have to adapt to it, but it'll probably completely change who I push etc.

I'm not sure why it happened, but the reason you can't change your product settings is because they're already at their maximum level (every company has a hidden minimum and max level).

You can get around this by going into the in-game editor and raising the max level. I wouldn't even consider this particularly gamey if you're concerned about playing pure -- the settings seem to be there mostly to keep the AI from changing promotions too drastically over the course of the game.

 19.

This has completely baffled me. Shuji Inukai has a 10/10 scouting rating and a 83/B+ psychology rating. Eisaku Kunomasu also has a 10/10 scouting rating and a 83/B+ psychology rating.

The reason I choose an epic match was because the dirt sheet told me Shuji Inukai has good psychology for the epic type match.

I don't know if this still holds true since Adam has been fiddling around with Match Aims recently, but it used to be that Epic and Spectacle needed to be done in front a calm crowd. You would've probably gotten better results if the previous match had used Calm the Crowd instead of Regular - it'd have hurt that match's rating a bit, but the main event is much more important since it accounts for 70% of your overall show rating.

That psychology penalty is a separate issue from Call In Ring (they're both more than good enough to qualify). According to the handbook, if the worker with the highest psychology involved in the match has less than an 85% and it's less than 90% of the match grade (before modifiers are applied, I'd assume), it creates a penalty that gets worse the longer the match is. That said, their psychology is high enough that I wouldn't think the penalty in this scenario would be noteworthy enough to actually appear in the report window... maybe since Epic has such high requirements, it amplifies the penalty. I got a penalty for lack of selling in the last Epic match I ran - the guys involved were rated 85 and 82 respectively.

 20.

When booking an angle, does the degree of success/failure have an impact on a worker's popularity/momentum, or is it just a factor in their performance within their current storyline?

I can't tell if it effects popularity gains, but success in angles definitely effects momentum.

For instance, if I've signed a worker away from the competition and have to wait weeks for their contract to expire, I'll give them a personality push (since they don't care what their push is until they actually join the roster) and put them in vignettes to hype them up (just a freestyle angle where they're offscreen and rated as a major success). Depending on how many shows you have to go until they debut, they'll be starting with at least Minor Positive momentum, if not Positive. Gives them a nice boost to start from.

 21.

Is there any way, editor or otherwise, to force a company to leave its alliance?

Basically I want to force NJPW and SHINE, which I bought and turned into child companies, to leave their alliances and join my alliance with the rest of my child companies.

What a coincidence. This is exactly the question I logged in to ask myself.

I couldn't figure out a simple way of doing it, but I found a work around. I resorted to reverting the game to a week prior to buying out the company, then I took control of the other promotion via "Add Player" and manually made them quit the alliance before I bought them out.

There's got a to be a easier way that we're missing. Maybe it's just an oversight.

 22. I've got a quick question about matches. I know Match Style will give a bonus if both workers are skilled at that style, and Prestige seems to simply be an setting to dissuade the AI from booking gimmick matches every show, but what about the other settings? Do Injury and Content Risk play into match ratings at all? If not, it seems a bit pointless to book risky matches like 'Hell in the Cell', short of fulfilling a product requirement.
 23. What exactly is the "lower popularity mechanic" referred to in the 1.48 patch notes? Given the context, I'm guessing it's either a modifier for popularity gains from appearing in segments with more over workers, or the mechanic that quickly bumps an unpopular worker up to a minimum usable level for your promotion's size. I could be way off base though. Edit: Nevermind. I saw a thread about this in the suggestions section - it's the latter of the two.
