As opposed to being like a painting, starting from zero and building with bonuses. The penalties in products are more about telling the player what the perfect main event in that promotion would be, than telling the player what to avoid.

In an ECW product, a great technical match in the midcard wouldn't be looked down upon... but it would be in the midcard. The fans expect violence in their main events. So Hardcore matches need a natural bonus in order to fit better on top... but TEW doesn't work in bonuses. So it gives penalties instead. That penalty doesn't represent the fans rejecting the techncians. They're simply less excited for them that the blood and guts. It's the same reason Attitude era WWE would penalise Hardcore matches. Those matches were a lot of fun in that time, but the ideal main event wasn't a hardcore match. So penalty.

More to your question about "oustanding" technical matches. I'd say WWE historically would penalise those, because their main events were brawls between big personalities. Or any big man territory which believed muscular or burly powerhouses were the best. WWE used to be the place that only cared about recognisable faces. If you weren't on TV no one cared about your armbars and drop kicks. Even 205 live these days. Talented technicians on there, but who cares? Not WWe fans.

That was a great answer. The whole penalty system finally made sense to me the way you described it.

I’ve had situations where my company outperformed my worker and thus my top stars were only well known and I was getting warnings after every show.

yes i have 3 major stars and 4 or 5 stars

  3. I'm running RIPW, I've gotten my Merchandise up to level 5. It says at this level i will sell individual merchandise for Major Stars and Stars. I've been at this level for a couple of months and it doesn't show that any of my wrestlers are selling merchandise. Do development companies not sell individual merchandise even if your running them? or is it something else, like my guys aren't popular enough to sell merchandise?
  4. i'm playing as RIPW i'm in August of year one, nobody has graduated from the Supreme University, there suppose to graduate in August. Is it the first of the month or just some time during the month? Also i've got my merchandise department up to level 5 it says we can now sell individual merchandise for major star and stars but nobody is popping up as selling merchandise, is it because they're just not popular enough?

So my first question has been answered. The Supreme Graduates popped up in the middle of the month. I guess i was just used to the old game when everything happened on the first of the month.

  6. i always have a backstage interviewer, i hire someone thats a non wrestler with decent mic skills, i don't worry to much about their overness because they will get over because i use them in 2-3 segemts a show mostly with highly over guys then eventually they can carry an interview with anybody. In a 91' WWF save i was doing after 7 months Mean Gene was 100 pop every but Puerto Rico which was 94, he could pull a low a mid 70's to low 80's segment with guys with no real entertainment skills and like only 30 in overness.
