  1. Serious question here... how on EARTH do you guys book shows in a couple of minutes in either TEW2020 OR TEW2016?

Usually takes me twenty minutes to half an hour to book a show in any version of the game, which is why I really struggle with any promotion that has two shows a week (either a Raw/Smackdown or an A-Show/B-Show type setup).

I’m really going to need to hit some of you guys up for tips. I’d love to pump out shows in under ten minutes.

Pre-booking, lots of it. I can have the major matches for the whole year and first 6 months of TV planned out in an hour. Then I just throw angles in. With 16 that was simple. 20 not so much.

  2. Are you having sex with the video game?

    HAHAHHAHAHAHAH

    That got me good.

My dude, you're saying this like TEW 2020 reinvented the wheel or something. It's really not close to as big a departure from what people are used to as you're making it sound. Booking a show is nearly exactly the same process with certain QOL conveniences being removed. I can't be the only one who thinks this, right?

    Wholeheartedly agree Quest

  3. I think there are a lot of UI issues, but I believe a large part of why it doesn't feel fun is that everything is so spreadsheety and small that nothing feels like an achievement. It feels like you're playing with SUM calculations in Excel.

You get a 100 rated match:

    In '16

    100

    (GRADE: A)

    In '20

    100

Nothing pops. Nothing stands out. There's nothing to hide the fact that you're essentially playing with a spreadsheet.

Yeah this was a problem for me. To spend all this time working towards something and to get that as your reward is not rewarding lol. And not to mention it's barely legible and still gives me a headache. Less game more sheet basically.

  4. "My experience is X" doesn't disprove "lots of people's experience is Y".

It's a criticism I have encountered for years of TEW, and was a key reason why the "EWR-like" options were introduced in TEW 2016.

These games have a learning curve. I can book a show in 2020 in pretty much the same time it would have taken me in 2016 now, if not quicker. I couldn't at first, because I was learning my way around the new system. The same as making the jump between any two iterations in the series - perhaps slightly moreso, as there have been some more significant changes here in terms of the Push system, etc..

I think a lot - not all - complaints in that regard have come from people who wanted TEW 2016 with a new lick of paint, rather than a brand new game.

Why do you feel the need to be so dismissive? I replied with a super dumb take to try and point out how flawed your viewpoint is but you don't look past it. It's getting annoying. Anyway I don't want this thread to become derailed with petty arguments and I know you have some books from the 1930's to read so I'm done with this.

It took 20 minutes to book a show from TEW16 to TEW2020. So your example here is wrong and doesn't prove anything.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I like your snark, but I think you're missing the point here. Skummy made a blanket statement that he used to dismiss the criticism. I used that statement to prove his statement false. And with you bringing in new perspective actually proves my point of different experiences. So thank you for proving my point Roccy.</p>

I know plenty of people who never gave up on EWR because they found their first experience of TEW 2016 was that it took them half an hour or more to book a show. Because they were <em>doing it for the first time</em>. So it's amusing to me now to see people pointing to TEW 2016 as an example of a streamlined, quick booking experience. It <em>is </em>that, because you've had years of experience of playing it, and TEW 2020 is a new game. <p> </p><p> I do get the impression that <em>some </em>people were expecting "TEW 2016 1.5", and aren't prepared to allow for the slight learning curve of a brand new game.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Otherwise - I don't think people speculating about what the "testing team" did or didn't do is helpful in any way.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Took me 10 minutes to book my first show on TEW16 jumping from EWR, 45 minutes to book my first show on TEW20 as opposed to 16. So your example here is wrong and doesn't prove anything.</p>

  8. VCW: THE RISE OF KEITH

    Card:

    * Jay Silver w/ Allison Addison Vs. Jerry Pepper w/ Mya Catalan

The announcers love Mya and it seems like Keith has a thing for the Eastern women, so Jerry goes over here.

    * Jules Night Vs. Wild Red Stallion

Yeah, Stallion is big, and he wins.

    * Sgt. Bubba Lee West Vs. Texas Hangman

Keith doesn't have the balls to tell either of them that they will lose. So Hangman takes liberties and shoots a win.

    * Tsuki Kawamata Vs. Candy Floss (Title Vs. Career Bout)

Candy has scared Keith, Candy will leave and Keith keeps courting Tsuki.

    * Prime Time Dread Vs. The Winning Team

PTD, Winning Team? More like losing team (gottteeeeem)

    * Keith Vegas will FINALLY make an Announcement!

    Keith Vegas is killed again.

You can spot the differences within 30 seconds of taking a cursory glance at the rosters.<p> </p><p> "Let see, GSW has a bunch of rappers, makes sense given that their logo looks like a music album label, and IPW has... cultists, evil clowns, and a cowboy."</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Okay, but then again booking the shows are the exact same, because the product is the exact same. And that was the point. The shows are the same, just small changes because again you can't tell the difference, because of lack of product variance. The 2020 CV is very lackluster as opposed to say the CV18 mod, which is spectacular with so much creativity and thought put into it.</p>
  10. And? OLLIE and CILL have the same product, and those companies don't feel the same either.

It comes down to storylines and roster.

IPW? Play up the cartoonish of the roster, especially the supernatural guys like Blackfriar, Deacon, or Coulrophobia.

GSW? Glitzy. Like "Empire" but with steel chairs.

PSW? Closest to classic ECW. For the most part, classic pro-wrestling style gimmicks, with more cussing and violence.

But that has nothing to do with the products. You have to go out of your way to pick this up and that would require a vast knowledge of the characters. But the thing most people would do is look at the products. Products that are the exact same with different rosters. I think your post misses the plot a bit.

  11. So lets break this down for a second. Ronda signs telling them that she wants to have a baby, works Mania-Mania like a grown up, and then puts over Becky and leaves. Gets absolutely roasted.

Becky canoodles with Seth until she gets surprise preggo and then HHH's the belt to Asuka, kills the business on the way out, and basically retires? She's revered like a patron saint...

    ???

I mean, happy for them. But this is a 30+ year old couple. Surely they've figured out how sex functions. Either she didn't want to do a job out the door, or she didn't give a crap about the WWE, and the state of the company, which put her over and signed her to a deal worth a ton of money. The least she could do is put Asuka over and then do the babymaking. Either way, Seth is really on fire. He may very well burn that whole company down at this rate.

    Holy ragefire Batman!

Either way, congratulations to Seth and Becky.

  12. lol you clealy didnt play 2020. The booking is the same. No idea what you are doing wrong but its 1000% you doing something wrong if you cant book right. Booking is perfect.

Yes clearly I'm a moron for having a different opinion. Literally booking the shows isn't fun for me in 2020. In 2016 it was fine, but something about inputting the shows and putting in segments feels like a drag in 20. I don't care about grades, I play mainly for a relaxing time. But 20 makes it feel like a chore. But I guess I'm wrong.

  13. For $35 at this point I'm not buying. Seeing all the baffling changes made, the awful UI, the terrible way a lot of features were implemented the way the AI is both better but not great, products etc. I can go on, but the main problem is it's a chore to book a show. The main reason to play TEW and I can't do it. I could probably overlook a lot if the booking wasn't as bad as it is now. And in a world when indie games come out for less than TEW and have amazing depth and provide a great experience, I can't justify the price right now.
  14. The thing is "caps" and "penalties" are illogical and sacrifice realism for gameplay mechanics. There's a lot of nuance that results in match grades, not just length. Psychology and abilities in the ring and the differing spots can make a 30 minute hardcore match work, especially for an audience that want that style of wrestling. Generally hardcore matches can have a lack of psychology, but hardcore fans typically don't want psychology, they want violence. The longer the violence the more they are pleased. And hardocore matches with psychology can be considered all time classics. Hell, Omega/Mox went nearly an hour and people loved that. It seems like nuance is replaced with gamey-ness. And it's very uninspired and disappointing imo.
  15. Bradley Blaze © vs Cheetah Boy (Mid Atlantic Championship)

    Blaze's reign just started.

Jaylon Martin © vs Copperhead (Mid Atlantic American)

Never saw anything in Copperhead, Jaylon I don't know anything about since I haven't touched the 2020 CV, but he's probably better than Copperhead.

Joey Fili vs Davis Wayne Newton

DWN is a new signing and you're low on main event heels.

    Josh Jacobs vs Miller Fforde

Miller needs this win to maintain legitimacy.

The Heartbreak Express vs The Scheme (#1 Contender's for Tag Team Championship)

I'm a mark for the HBE

The Latino Kings vs The Wolf Pack

Building up new challengers for DeMarcus and Gray

    Tyrone Gray vs The Historian

Probably a DQ win here, starts a fued.

Great first show, also damn you Pablo for robbing me of my perfect score. DAMN YOU.

  16. As I've mentioned twice before, the purpose of a dojo in TEW 2020 is to put new workers out into the world. If a mod maker doesn't want these dojos to exist, the best solution is to not include them in their particular database. I take issue not with the idea that someone has a complaint about the game, but with the idea that their complaint is that an existing game feature is working as intended. Or - as has already been suggested - a mod maker has the ability to remove these new generations by excluding free pictures from the game. If anything, the suggestion that should be made here is to make it clearer in the documentation that a free picture will be used to generate a future worker, but if you don't want randomly generated workers in your database then why did you include free pictures in the first place?

I'm sorry for triggering your gag reflex.

Something working as intended does not mean it's working correctly though. Attendances for television were working as intended at first too, didn't make it correct. The option to turn it off is just what my initial complaint was though and having to go through hoops and ladders for it to work properly is what triggered my complaint in the first place.
