Dale Christian's Leaving Shindig Wednesday Week 3 June 1975 I had tried for weeks on end to get Dale to sign another contract with AICW but the guy wasn't having any of it. He kept saying that it was his time, and he was on to bigger things. And i really couldn't blame him to be honest. After spending a few months working with Walter Crowe, i was ready to jump ship as well. But every interview i had gone for, had come back unsuccessful. I could blame Gene Plumelli for that i reckoned. It had been almost two weeks since Nathen Crosby had broken my arm, and the doctors reckoned that in a few weeks the cast could come off. The pain had mostly subsided but that could have been due to the copious amounts of alchohol i drank. Dale Christian: "...so i guess in closing, i just wanted to thank all of you for coming tonight and for letting me work with you at AICW, and maybe i will see some of you again when you rise to the big leagues" The night past far too quickly. The older workers kept to themselves in one corner, telling stories from their youth, while the youth themselves where trying to get drinks from the bar.. But Tommy Handell, Kurt Longfellow, Stuart Storm, and even our announcer Tommy London were all denied drinks and were stuck drinking Cratorades and watching the local sports team on the TV. Crowe: "Well look what we have hear" Walter Crowe waltzed into the bar looking like he already had a few inside him with the AICW Championship over his shoulder. Crowe: "So just why are having this big send off for a nobody" Christian: "Im guessing its because people like me.. I doubt you know what thats like" Crowe: "Well people should like me. I pay their wages" Christian: "You know what.. People dont like you.. Nobody likes you." Crowe: "I DONT CARE WHAT YOU THINK! You think your such a big shot now that your off to Chicago. Your not.. Your just gonna be a road agent. Big whoop. Im the owner of AICW and the UNDEFEATED Champion. Im so much more than you will ever be. Hows it feel to have had your chance to beat me, and failed" Christian: "I wont lose any sleep over it" Crowe: "AND WHAT OF THE REST OF YOU!! None of you are even in the same caliber as me." ????: "I am" It was like one of those moments on TV. The crowd looked over at the next person, who looked at the next, and so on down the line. Past Red Falcon, past Biff Ingram and everyones eyes focused upon Tito Bumfhole. Tito: "I will fight you" Crowe: "Im sorry but who the &^%$ are you" Tito: "My name is Tito Bumfhole" Crowe: "Bumhole.. Your name is bumhole?" Crowe laughed and Tito looked on angrily. Tito: "Its Bumfhole. With an F" Crowe: "So then little mexican.. You think you can beat me" Tito: "Yeah.. I do" Crowe walked right up to Tito and the bartender grabbed the phone, getting ready to call 911 Crowe: "So you want to face me on Tuesday.. well that is an interesting proposition.. In one corner.. we have me... WALTER CROWE... AICW Champion and in the other.. we have the little mexican.. little bumhole boy." Tito: "Dont have to wait till tuesday. we can settle this right now" Crowe: "But there is a slight problem with that. I dont remember having a little mexican on the payroll" Tito: "And what do you call me then" Crowe: "Oh thats easy. I call you fired" The bar erupted with angry voices, all aimed at Walter Crowe. Everyone wondering just why he could fire someone that put on such good matches for such a small price. Crowe: "Let that be a lesson to all of you. None of you are indespensible" Crowe turned and looked at Nathen Crosby who had a huge smile on his face. He had obviously loved every moment of what had just transpired. Crowe motioned with his head to the door but was stopped from leaving by a tap on his shoulder. He turned around to see Dale Christian. Christian: "*&^% you" Christian swung his feet hard connected with Crowes jaw, and sending him to the ground. The crowd gathered cheered for Christian as Crosby hoisted Crowe out of the bar. Crowe: "This isn't over.. Not by a long shot. I own all of you." When Crowe had gone, the party started up again. The bartender told Christian that he had wanted to see someone do that for years and shook his hand. He even gave a free drink to all AICW workers, even the ones underaged. * * * * * 3am and the party had just about fizzled out. The younger workers had gone out to a club and the older ones had retired for the evening. It was just Dale Christian and i left. Dale: "God that felt good though, although i think i might have made your job worse" I held up my broken arm to him, and he shrugged. Dale: "Ok point taken. I doubt he could make it much worse on you" Me: "The job isn't so bad sometimes." Dale: "Just the parts that involve Crowe" Me: "Yeah.. Not really the highlight of my week" Dale: "But when im gone, i hope your strong enough to carry on." Me: "I dont know about that" Dale: "I think you can. I think you need to step between the ropes. Learn how to wrestle and then eventually kick Crowe's arse" Me: "Oooh i like that idea" Dale: "You want some advice. Start small.. Fight some little jobbers so people dont think your on a power trip. Then when you can, you beat Crosby and you beat him hard. Humiliate him so badly that he wont even think of coming after you. And when your done with Crosby, you go after Crowe"
So its been about a few months in game now, and im wondering what people think. Is this too heavy backstage. Too light show wise.. Opinions and comments are what im after.. Let me know what you think
I really like all the backstage stuff. I think you might need to add a little something to your shows just to make sure Morton is different from Tito for example. Basicaly, I need a reason to cheer for some guys, so far they're all the same for me... except for those present in your backstage gigs.

I've been reading and keeping up with the diary, and so far I'm liking the booking and the writing - but I will also admit that except for the backstage segments most of the characters are pretty unknown even to me. Maybe some worker pictures in the write-ups would help? Either way, I'll keep reading :D

Walter Crowe Walter Crowe was a collegiate mat standout at Iowa who was one of pro wrestling's bigger draws in the formulative years of the early 60's. He hit a lull in his career after being released from CWB in 1964 but in 1972, his father passed away & Crowe used the inheritance to create an official Independent Circuit for the United States, AICW. The promotion has been good for the business so far, but not especially great for itself as money is growing tighter with each tour. AICW Offices July 1975 It had been a week since Dale Christian had left and Tito Bumfhole was fired and luckily i had managed to avoid Walter Crowe. However i had stumbled on a new article in the local paper that made claims that our roster was too small and looked amataurish. I was about to change that. After looking through some betamax tapes, i had asked four workers to come in for a one on one interview with me. They were confused about having to talk to me to get a job, but i explained that getting to know them helped me figure out just how to book them. First up was James Cason: Me: "Thanks for coming James. Lets start off with your previous experience. Says here you worked in Canada for a while. " James: "Yeah. I did some work for Canadian Wrestling Federation" Me: "Why did you leave" James: "I spent two years working for them, and during that time i was barely used. Spent more time sitting in the locker room, or training than i did in front of an audience" Me: "Ok.. And what would you say your strengths are?" James: "Im athletic, and i know the basics pretty well. Im also not bad on a microphone" Me: "I doubt you will see a mike much here. We're more about wrestling than acting" He seemed like a nice guy, so i offered him a contract for the rest of the tour. Next up was Sherman Quarles. Me: "So then.. Where have you worked?" Sherman: "To be honest. I have only ever worked one show. It was an independant event and i was against Norm Smith. I think it went pretty well" Me: "So why should i employ someone as unproven as you?" Sherman: "Because im willing to work.. Willing to do anything to prove myself, and im good.. " Me: "Ok.. Show me what you have at the next show and maybe i will keep you on" The third interviewee was Spike Wallace. He had apparently worked for AICW before but was arrested after a barfight whilst on tour and was fired. Me: "Im taking a massive chance here with you" Spike: "Are you.. Are you really" Me: "Yes. I am. Hows your fitness" Spike: "Better than ever.. Why" Me: "Because the previous bookers notes say you cant last longer than five minutes" Spike: "Thats just a lie. The guy hated me.. Let me tell you something...." Spike went on to explain about what happened that night on tour with AICW. He told me that the previous booker had brought his daughter out with him one night and that Spike and her 'connected' and things got intimate between them. The previous booker finally found out and confronted Spike one night in a bar after a show. Spike was drunk and the pair of them wound up getting into a fight. Spike, being stronger managed to throw the booker through the front window as some cops were passing by. The old booker claimed that Spike had started the whole thing and Spike was arrested. Spike: "...and thats what happened. Say... You dont have a daughter do you?" The final interviewee was Trent Peak Me: "So why do you want to wrestle" Trent: "Honestly.. I saw one of those.. you know.. Psychics. I asked her what the future saw for me and my family, and she claimed she saw the name Peak in lights. We were gonna be famous" Me: "Yeah but why wrestling?" Trent: "Where else. Wrestling is big right now, what with the Lambert scandel a few months back, and i wrestled when i was in college. I know this is my calling and something my kids can get behind" Me: "You have children?" Trent: "Not yet, but i want some.. Well two boys to be precise. My wife and i already have the names picked out. Edward & Douglas, after my father and hers." I signed all four of them to touring contracts, and told them when the next show was. Then after they left i headed over to the hospital. It was time to get my cast removed.

"AND WHAT OF THE REST OF YOU!! None of you are even in the same caliber as me." Crowe's words still rang in my head almost two weeks after he had said them. My original plan upon taking over the book here was to build up Dale Christian and then have him re-challenge for the AICW Championship. But with Dale gone, who could i get to challenge Crowe. There was no way i could just put one of my new signings straight into ring without annoying the rest of the roster. But the challenger had to seem legitimate in the eyes of the fans AND Crowe. And just like that, i had the answer. A league table. Every show the roster would be given points for wins, and points deducted for a loss. And whoever was at the top of the board at the start of the show would face the champ. And if the top space was shared, then the champ would face both of them. That would stick it to Crowe. However whoever lost the championship match would lose ALL their points, that way i would have a steady stream of challengers. I looked through the rosters records and came up with the leaderboard: AICW Leaderboard: #1 Red Falcon & Handsome Tommy Handell (3 Points) #3 Biff Ingram & Dee Ray Morton (1 Point) #5 Duke Powell, Kurt Longfellow & The Storm Brothers (0 Points) #9 Action Jackson (-1 Points) #10 Brad Kelly, Bulletprood & Kid Karma (-2 Points) #13 Quincy LeMieux (-4 Points) Coming up: Deadlock Breakers Handsome Tommy Handell VS Red Falcon VS Walter Crowe for the AICW Championship Biff Ingram VS Dee Ray Morton Duke Powell VS Kurt Longfellow VS Seth Storm VS Stu Storm Brad Kelly VS Bulletproof VS Kid Karma

Edit: Speaking of Crowe, that new pic of him was supposed to be confidential... I think we have a mole in our department :D
Actually I finished up most of those yesterday, and the only guy in this diary that was on my list was Walter Crowe - so if y'all want to make these official, I've got no problems with it! :D Since he's writing the diary, he should have em as soon as he can... me, my next job is doing the entire SWF roster, then moving down through the promotions according to size... so who knows when I'd get to some of these dudes? Edit: Speaking of Crowe, that new pic of him was supposed to be confidential... I think we have a mole in our department :D
But then who leaked the Viper and Cobra pics??? I suspect we have TWO moles! :D :D BTW, really enjoy the new league table- I think next time Red Falcon gets to the top, Crowe's in trouble!

AICW Bookers Office (I say office, but we all know its a cupboard) I was fuming.. I had booked what i thought was a pretty solid main event match. Falcon, Handell & Crowe for the title. Except Handell no showed and forced me to change the match. But while Biff Ingram no showed the same event, he had at least called and let us know due to travel issues. Handell however had given no excuse, and not even called in. So i called HIM in.. Into my office/cupboard. Me: "So what happened then. How come you couldn't make it" Handell: "It slipped my mind" Me: "You have a chance of main eventing, you have a title shot and it slips your mind to attend" Handell: "Yeah.." Me: "And nothing to do with the fact that if you had lost, like Falcon did then you would be out of a title shot opportunity for a while.. See it occurs to me that you had a 1 in 3 chance of winning. Thats without any variables. 33%. Not brilliant is it" Handell: "Yeah" Me: "But by not turning up, you remain top of the league even if i counted that as a loss, meaning you would face the champ at the next show" Handell: "Aint i lucky then" Me: "So.. What do i do.. I cant have people thinking they can skip matches and get an easy title shot, but i cant really ruin a league system due to useless workers, so what would you suggest" Handell: "A telling off. I wont do it again..I promise" Me: "No.. I know what im gonna do. Im fining you as stated in your contract for your no show. And im changing your title match on the next show" Handell: "You cant. I earned that!" Me: "Oh dont worry. You will still have it.. But im changing it a little. While you are gonna face Walter Crowe for the AICW Championship, your not gonna do it in a standards singles match. Oh No! Your gonna compete in a LADDER MATCH!!!" At the next AICW Show: Handsome Tommy Handell VS Walter Crowe in a Ladder Match for the AICW Championship Biff Ingram VS Stu Storm Kurt Longfellow VS Red Falcon James Cason VS Sherman Quarles Spike Wallace VS Trent Peak Quincy LeMieux VS Seth Storm

AICW Bookers Office/Storage Cupboard If i was to carry on having meetings like these, i would really need to get rid of some of these brooms. As it turns out i was sitting on top of upturned bucket, all the while trying to pretend i had some importance here at AICW. And today was really the first time i got to show my importance. Today was my first dismissal. I had spent the last two nights with two stacks of paper in front of me. The first were the AICW leaderboards since there inception, and the seconds was the rosters match reports for the tour so far. I started the only place i could when thinking about dismissals. The guy at the bottom. Quincy LeMieux. With -5 points on the leaderboard, there was no way that he would ever be challenging for the AICW Championship this tour, and his dud of a match on the last show pretty much sealed the deal. We talked for a while about where we wanted things to go and he was pretty chipper about the whole thing. I shook his hand and let him leave. However Bulletproof didn't take the news as well. I explained to him that i hadn't seen a decent match from him and that some of the fans had started coming with signs saying 'Im here to see Bulletproof lose", and tried explaining how i wanted AICW to grow but all i got was abuse. In the end i just told him to get out my cupboard, as i had some calls to make. His replacement. He kicked the bucket out from under me and stormed out.
