New Modern Wrestling - A Picture is Worth How Many Words?

disclaimer: This is a fantasy diary, meaning it is fictional(not real). Therefore should not be confused with real life happenings and all that good stuff. On June 11 2005, Mike Tyson stunned the boxing world by quitting before the start of the seventh round in a close bout against journeyman Kevin McBride. After losing the third of his last four fights, Tyson said he would quit boxing because he hasn't "got the fighting guts or the heart anymore." Tyson has stayed in the limelight by promoting various websites and companies. In April 2005, he joined a group of strippers on the roof of a strip club in New York to promote skill gaming site FortuneFun.com. Tyson has also endorsed online gaming site Casino Fortune and previously lent his name to a popular Nintendo game, Mike Tyson's Punch Out!!. In June 2004, sportswriter Max Kellerman suggested that Tyson should move out of boxing and into product endorsement, as this had worked well for former boxer George Foreman. In the past Tyson had shunned endorsements, accusing other athletes of putting on a false front to obtain them. On the front page of USA Today on June 3, 2005, Tyson was quoted as saying: "My whole life has been a waste - I've been a failure." He continued: "I just want to escape. I'm really embarrassed with myself and my life. I want to be a missionary. I think I could do that while keeping my dignity without letting people know they chased me out of the country. I want to get this part of my life over as soon as possible. In this country nothing good is going to come of me.” Tyson felt confident that with everything he’s gone through previously, the rest of his life should be simple. He was wrong of course, as he noticed an ongoing gambling problem which he picked up on a few years ago. He couldn’t help it; pissing away money was addictive to him and he enjoyed it. While he would win the occasional thousand, it wasn’t making up for what he had lost. After a bit of advice through a gambling-help phone line, Tyson was able to stay away from the tables for the mean time. He figured that with all the cash he still had, he’d have enough to live happily for the rest of his life… “$100,021” stated the banker. Tyson was furious and sure there was a mistake, but there was no mistake. Gambling, bills, and child support had ruined him. Millions gone; just like that. Tyson fled back to his house and laid on his bed staring at the ceiling in disbelief. He thought about going back to boxing, but he’d just ruin himself even more. He thought about opening his own pigeon zoo, but came to the conclusion that not a lot of people are interested in his interests. He even thought about betting his entire salary on a game of Texas Hold’em or Blackjack, but felt that it was too risky. It was at this very moment that he looked up at the picture over his bed. He smiled at the thought; re-living the moment. It was a picture of March 29th, 1998; Wrestlemania 14. The photo was taken at the perfect moment of Tyson’s fist connecting with HBK’s jaw; Austin standing in the background. Tyson then got chills as he thought of the craziest idea ever. An idea that he had always wanted to do, but never had the time or balls to pull it off. Tyson smirked and nodded his head as he looked through his personal book of numbers. Without a whole lot to lose, he found the seven digits he was looking for along with the area code. Phone in hand, he dialed the number…

Friday, May 25, 2007 “What?” “I said I want to start my own promotion,” replied Tyson. “You’re ****ing crazy.” The voice on the other end of the phone was none other than the man he counted the three count for at WM14, Stone Cold Steve Austin. “Steve, please just hear me out. I know this sounds ridiculous but I’ve really thought it through.” “And just exactly how long have you been thinking about this?” “Around five minutes or so… But honestly, I have nothing to lose Steve, nothing at all. I’m just asking that you hear me out okay? … I’m a desperate man. I’ve lost so much within the past five years or so, I think that I’ve lost more than I’ve ever had. My criminal record won’t let me do anything with my life; even if I am Mike Tyson. Those moments that I’ve lived in a boxing ring were for me. They were for me to take my anger out that I’ve always had built up inside of me and pound people to the groung. I did that all for myself. But now, now it’s a lot different. You see, I’m sick and tired of always doing things for myself. I’m sick and tired of being a selfish, arrogant criminal who can’t even look at himself in the mirror anymore. I don’t know how to be happy anymore Steve and I think that I’ve come to live with the fact of knowing that. Steve, when you’re in the ring as the Texas Rattlesnake, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin… You’re there for one reason. You’re there for the millions and millions of wrestling fans around the world who want to see you in there. I know that you walk down that aisle everytime and you smile inside to see the thousands of fans throwing middle fingers in the air and to hear them going absolutely nuts when they see your bald head. Steve, I’m not asking for the fans to do that for me, I’m just asking that I could be part of a similar feeling. I want to know that wrestlers in my company, in my very own promotion got the same feeling that you got. I want to know that I was able to create something from nothing, and give wrestlers with a dream that you live everyday a chance to live it. Steve, there’s so much more that I can say, but do I really have to? I’m not asking for the world here, I’m just asking for a bit of help to get me going.” With that said, Austin felt obligated to help out a friend. Who wouldn’t? After some more talk, each hung up the phone and decided that they’d further with their talks in the morning. Tyson wasn’t exactly sure what to feel. He knew that he should be pretty thankful that Austin decided to help him out, but he felt more nervous than anything else. That feeling he thought, ‘I’ve had the feeling before…’ …The feeling that tickles your blood stream to the point where it feels like your chest is laughing. The feeling that he got as he walked through the curtain in his very first boxing match. The feeling that he got when he first became “Iron Mike”. With the night behind him and the day ahead of him, Tyson climbed into his double bed and stretched out as far as he could. “I wonder how much that phone call costed me.”

Friday, June 1, 2007 It took a week of hard work, but in the eyes of Mike Tyson, it was well worth it. Countless hours were spent as both Iron Mike and the Texas Rattlesnake prepared to start Tyson’s dream. The ingredients needed for the start up were just about all stired into the pot. Orders were made, numbers were dialed, and posters were posted as both Tyson and Austin decided that the debut show of ‘New Modern Wrestling’ would take place on Wednesday, June 13, 2007. “I really wish that I could be at the first show to help you out Mike, but there’s no chance in hell Vince would let me do that,” stated Austin. “I know that Steve and I appreciate the thought, but I think that I’ll be just fine especially considering some of the talent that we signed,” replied Tyson. “Oh hell yeah! Oh, and before I forget; the webmaster said that the New Modern Wrestling website would be up tomorrow.” “Let’s hope the site receives a lot of hits!”

Just a quick comment to give you props on the originality aspect. Mike Tyson as a promoter is a very novel take for a dynasty... although I expect more threats of ear or children-eating. ;) NMW Championship Quarter-Finals: Dixie vs. Javi-Air The Amazing Red vs. Eric Young Izzy vs. Phoenix Sun Johnny Devine vs. Super Dragon Bonus Questions: 1. Which quarter-finals match will receive the best (in-game) rating? The Amazing Red vs. Eric Young 2. What will be Stone Cold Steve Austin’s role for the night? Body Guard - Hard call, I can't see why he'd special guest referee in just one of the bouts (unless it's the secret main event), but he'd also make a decent authority... I'm just hoping Tyson has that role and rants a lot. 3. There is rumoured to be a main event which has yet to be announced. What will be the finish for that match? Disqualification - Hard to call again, depends on who's involved, but I suspect you'll want to keep the participants fairly strong without anyone going over clean yet.

From various sources: Wednesday, Week 2 June 2007 WWE releases; fans shocked Within the past two weeks, Vince McMahon and the WWE have released over thirty workers from their contracts, all effective immediately. If the numbers weren’t shocking enough, then some of the names should slap you right in the face. Superstars include Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mick Foley, Roddy Piper, Sgt. Slaughter, Lilian Garcia, Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole, Eric Bischoff, and Jonathan Coachman, just to name a few. The reason for these releases are still unclear, however check back soon for more information. -- Before The Show Mike Tyson was just sitting down to eat his meal when the doorbell rang. He answered it, revealing none other than Stone Cold Steve Austin standing in his doorway. “Let me guess Mike, you don’t have a computer?” asked Austin. “The damned thing’s broken; some trojan virus or something, why? What the hell are you doing here?” Austin walked in with a smile on his face as they continued their conversation. “Well if you would have been able to go to pretty much any wrestling site, you would have read that WWE decided to make a handful of realeases; me being one of them,” replied Austin. “You’re joking.” “Not joking. Seems that Vince is trying to show TNA that he doesn’t mind throwing away talent. To be honest with you, I think that Vince is an idiot, pure out.” “So he realeased the man that pretty much made WWE what it is today? ..you?” stated Tyson. “I guess so yeah… But let’s forget about that for now alright? We’ve got a show to prepare for.” “So what are you saying exactly?” asked Tyson. “I’m saying that I’m here in NMW for one night and one night only, so let’s make it one to remember.”

 • 3 weeks later...
Wednesday, Week 2, June 2007 All Star Sports Arena (Tri State) NYW Results After the playing of the national anthem, a lengthy video kicked off the debut show of New Modern Wrestling. The small yet rowdy crowd watched in anticipation as they saw the preview for tonight’s show. Without further ado, the music of NMW owner Mike Tyson hits and he walks out from the back to a standing ovation. Tyson then grabs the microphone and begins to speak. He talks about how he had a dream; and how it wasn’t to be the best boxer in the world, nor how it wasn’t to be titled the baddest man on the planet, but to stand in front of a crowd in a wrestling ring, the owner of a promotion. He then asks everyone to rise to their feet to have to save them from doing so in a few seconds, as he introduces the man that made it all happen for him; Stone Cold Steve Austin! The small, but noisy crowd blew up in excitement as the Texas rattlesnake made his way to the ring. Austin and Tyson pulled off a quick comedy act then Austin cut right down to the chase. He stated that he was here for one night only and that was to make an impact. Stone Cold promised that by the end of the night, someone was going to get a can of whoop-ass opened on them. Singles Match; Quarter Finals for the NMW Championship Eric Young V The Amazing Red First match of not only the show, but NMW history… Both men are determined to get the pinfall… Young tries to use his size advantage to outsmart Red… Red has been in this situation too many times to be outsmarted… Red is too quick for Young and tires him out easily… Young gets caught off-guard and is nailed with the Red Star Press! The Amazing Red advances to the semi-finals in a well fought battle. Winner via pinfall: The Amazing Red Backstage we see Azrieal barge into the office of Mike Tyson. Azrieal claims to have been cheated out of competing in the championship tournament and wants an opportunity to prove himself. Tyson, being a reasonable man, decides to make a triple threat match for later tonight, where the winner will compete in a fatal four way at the next show for the #1 contendership. Azrieal still seemed to be a bit upset, but before he could open his mouth, The Amazing Red walked into the scene coming back from his victory against Eric Young. Azrieal stood chest to chest with Red before walking out and closing the door behind him, leaving Red and Tyson in the office. Singles Match; Quarter Finals for the NMW Championship Dixie V Javi-Air Dixie is one-half of the team Special K with ‘Insane Dragon’ Izzy… Javi-Air is one-half of the team Aerial Assault with ‘Shooting Star’ Bobby Quance… Both use their speed to their advantage… Each are full of surprises… Dixie has the stamina of a lion… Javi-Air hits the mat hard after missing a springboard moonsault… Dixie takes advantage with a brutal looking Tekhen-Rana! Dixie advances to the semi-finals to compete against The Amazing Red. Winner via pinfall: Dixie All attention is focused on the video screen as we see Stone Cold Steve Austin sitting on a chair with dozens of empty beer cans around him. He cracks open another one, sinks it in record time, then tosses it behind him before walking out of the camera scene. Triple Threat Match; Winner advances to Fatal Four Way at the next show for the #1 contendership Azrieal V Nemesis V Rising Son Azrieal is booed loudly… Rising Son is the fan favorite… All three look to be in great shape… Each take advantage and nail a series of moves… Rising Son is knocked out of the ring with a bicycle kick by Nemesis… Nemesis’ back is turned… Azrieal grabs the tights! The referee counts the three and has no idea of the illegal activity! Azrieal celebrates his way to the fatal four way #1 contendership at the next show. Winner via pinfall: Azrieal Once the ring was cleared, Stone Cold came out for the second time tonight to about the same ovation as he had before. He grabbed the microphone and stated that he spilled his beer outback and got a bit upset. So upset that he’s begging for someone to come out right now so he can open the can of whoop-ass like he promised earlier. The crowd turned their attention to the curtain, but no one came out. Before dropping the microphone, Austin stated that he’ll be back out later tonight and he guarantees that someone will eventually answer him. Singles Match; Quarter Finals for the NMW Championship Johnny Devine V Super Dragon Devine has gone back to his old look of short blonde hair… This only gives the crowd another reason to insult him… The fans cheer Super Dragon on as he looks quite impressive throughout the match… Devine looks for every opportunity to weasel his way to a win… Dragon seems to be too smart and capitalizes with a series of lariats… Dropkick, Spinning Wheel Kick, Kawada Kick… Devine can barely feel his face anymore… Sick looking Psycho Driver! Super Dragon advances to the semi-finals against the winner of the next bout. Winner via pinfall: Super Dragon Singles Match; Quarter Finals for the NMW Championship Izzy V Phoenix Star Izzy is one-half of the team Special K with his partner Dixie… Phoenix Star is one-half of the team Los Luchas with his partner Nemesis… Each show a great display of skill with neither clearly getting the advantage… Izzy tries his hardest to keep Phoenix Star grounded, but it’s easier said than done… Spot after spot keep the crowd in anticipation… Phoenix Star nails a devastating back-cracker… He climbs to the top… Dixie runs from out back… He distracts Star long enough for Izzy to shake the ropes… Phoenix Star falls on the turnbuckle as Izzy takes control… Izzy hooks his opponents feet on the top rope before nailing a sick exclamation DDT! Izzy advances to the semi-finals to compete against Super Dragon. Winner via pinfall: Izzy After the match was over, Special K decided that they wanted to send a message by laying a beatdown on Phoenix Star. Only seconds passed before Star’s tag team partner Nemesis ran in and made the save. Special K fled to the back with their hands in the air. After the dust had settled, Stone Cold made his way back out; shirt drenched in beer and half stumbling to the ring. He grabbed the microphone and obviously drunk, began to stutter on his words. He admitted that he had a bit too much to drink but is pissed off because he wasted a lot of beer on his shirt and demands that someone come out and get an ass-whooping. At this point, Austin was attacked from behind and a brawl broke out. None other than Teddy Hart was the one to step up and was currently putting a beating on Austin. He stomped on Austin a few times before grabbing a microphone. Teddy ordered that a ref come down immediately because a match is about to start. Not even seconds later, a ref ran out from the back and the bell was sounded. Singles Match Teddy Hart V Stone Cold Steve Austin Teddy was on top before the bell sounded… He probably now wishes he hadn’t grabbed a microphone… Austin fights back with rights and lefts… Austin stomps a mud-hole in the gut of Teddy Hart… Teddy can’t seem to find a way back on top… The crowd is going nuts… Stone Cold Stunner!!! 1..2… The referee gets pulled out of the ring and kicked in the head! Eric Young and Johnny Devine jump in and begin a beatdown on Steve Austin… The bell sounds for the DQ but Austin is getting stomped on… Cheers sound as NMW owner Mike Tyson sprints down the aisle! Hart, Young and Devine are out of there quicker than bobcats as Tyson makes the save… Stone Cold’s music hits as he makes it back up to his feet, signaling for some beer… He shares a toast with Tyson, then… *you guessed it* …Stunner! Winner via DQ: Stone Cold Steve Austin --- Predictions: British Boy(EWB): 4 new era(EWB): 3 MaxxHexx(GDS): 3 sebsplex(GDS): 3

wow, Tyson? Your taking huge creative license with this, but your layout and the promise of "more beer than a texas rattlesnake with 4 stomachs can handle" got me back. Very intriguing. I'm sad Javi lost (I'm a huge mark for him) but the Main Event was cool. I'm just sad Teddy hart didn't get a bigger beatdown.

After the Show Mike Tyson had the duty of driving Steve Austin to the airport to catch his plane, therefore they left together. It wasn’t too long of a drive; about twenty minutes or so, yet they still had loads to talk about. They arrived at the airport only a few minutes before the departure of Austin’s plane, however before taking his bags out of the trunk, he and Tyson had some last words. “So you think you’ll be able to take it from here?” asked Austin. Tyson replied, “You showed me a lot Steve and I respect that so much; I really do feel confident about my position so I’m sure I’ll be fine.” Austin laughed, “I don’t believe you, so I called one of my good friends up to help you out. He lives in New York so it won’t be a hassle. As a matter of fact, he was sitting in the front row tonight. His name’s Brian, but we call him Jet. He’s a real smart guy who grew up the Dupree family; Emil, Jeff and Rene, before moving to New York. He’s young but knows what it’s like to travel with the business and make key decisions. I promised him a position on your booking team; I knew you wouldn’t mind, right?” “Wha.. I mean, yeah, yes, no problem at all Mr. Austin. I know you know what you’re doing,” Replied Tyson. “Listen, was the show spectacular or not tonight? Exactly, and I’m guessing you want the show’s to continue being a success? Exactly, that’s why this guy is right for the job… Mike, trust me.” At this time, Austin was ready to catch his plane. Tyson thanked him for everything and promised to keep in touch, but before he could leave, Austin mentioned one last thing; “Whenever you need me, I’m here… One phone call is all it takes.” With that said, they shook hands as Austin walked through the doors to catch his plane.

Mike Tyson as a promoter is a very novel take for a dynasty... although I expect more threats of ear or children-eating. ;)
sebsplex (GDS) Definitely agree that this is a story that could go anyway; a major reason why I picked it, basically no boundaries. As for the ear/children eating, well as of now it doesn't seem like we'll be seeing too much of that, but like I said, this is a diary with unlimited boundaries.
wow, Tyson? Check Wanting more? Check
Tomster (Corp-X) Haha thanks dude. I couldn't have asked for three better answers.
It's an interesting concept, i can't see Austin being there for one night only but it will be interesting to see your use, i found it difficult to use Austin in my TNA diary gave me a long think so will be interesting to see your direction. I'm interested to see what other talent you sign, by keeping Austin it maybe gives the chance of signing talent from the WWE with a feel of realism about it. But if as you say it's one night only so the roster maybe filled with indy talent in that case? Who knows? I'll be reading.
new era (EWB) Well I'll be straight up with you guys; Austin just costs way too much dough to keep him around, especially with me being a local promotion. Wednesday, Week 1, July 2007 Amherst Pepsi Center (Tri-State) NMW Results The attendance looked a lot better tonight compared to the debut show; hopefully it’s a sign for things to come. After everyone had taken their seats following the national anthem, the crowd watched a quick video to remind them of the happening’s from last show, as well as the preview for tonight. Suddenly, the music of NMW owner Mike Tyson hits and he walks out from the back to a standing ovation. He gave the crowd the casual thank you for coming speech before confirming this evening’s six matches. Tyson also stated that tonight will be a ‘night of champions’, as both the NMW heavyweight and tag titles will be up for grabs. Singles Match Teddy Hart V Rising Son This is a great opening bout… Teddy Hart looks to become a big-time player here in NMW… Rising Son looks for the same and a victory here would definitely help… Both performers put on one hell of an opening match… Each fly from side to side… Rising Son gets the advantage… Team Canada inch down to ringside… Teddy still looks to be in trouble… Eric Young hops on the ring apron… The referee tries to persuade him off… Johnny Devine throws Teddy a hockey stick… Wha-Bam! Winner via pinfall: Teddy Hart Backstage we see Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Nemesis); Star with a microphone in hand and Nemesis standing to his right. Star immediately cuts down to the chase and threatens the team of Special K (Izzy & Dixie) that they will seek revenge for the beatdown which occurred at the last show. Singles Match; semi-finals for the NMW championship The Amazing Red V Dixie Talk about a spot-fest match… It’s exactly what the crowd expected too… Back and forth, back and forth… Tons of high flying action… Whoever makes it to the finals might be a bit sore and tired… The loyal crowd gives two ‘holy ****’ chants throughout the bout… The pace picks back up as momentum swings back and forth… A random hand reaches in from underneath the ring and grabs the ankle of Dixie… Dixie loses his focus and is nailed with a sick looking Tiger Suplex! The Amazing Red advances to the finals to compete against either Super Dragon or Izzy. Winner via pinfall: The Amazing Red Dixie slowly gets to his feet in rage before looking for the man who costed him the victory. Phoenix Star appears from the back laughing before Nemesis slides out from underneath the ring. Suddenly, Izzy comes running down the aisle and jumps Phoenix from behind. A four-man brawl breaks out and Los Luchas look to be in trouble. Dixie is in control of Nemesis, smashing his head into the steel post of the ring, while Izzy has Phoenix Star near the entrance way. Suddenly, Izzy sets up Star against the hockey boards in the arena and connects with a devastating Kawada kick. Los Luchas look to be left unconscious while Dixie makes his way to the back; Izzy making his way in the ring for his semi-finals match. Singles Match; semi-finals for the NMW championship Super Dragon V Izzy Izzy seems too ****y… Dragon seems too calm… Both go at each other in a stiff manner… The crowd is heavily behind Super Dragon… They seem to really enjoy his unique style… Izzy doesn’t have to worry about Los Luchas interfering in this one… Super Dragon ducks a Kawada kick… Lucky for him… Izzy gets nailed with a Psycho Driver! Super Dragon advances to the finals to compete against The Amazing Red. Winner via pinfall: Super Dragon We go backstage to see the faction of Team Canada (Teddy Hart, Eric Young & Johnny Devine) in a huddle. They eventually all turn toward the camera and Teddy Hart, hockey stick in hand, states that what everyone sees is the beginning of a never-ending world of Canadian domination. Teddy then finished up by letting everyone know that his ‘boys’ are bringing home the gold tonight. We go to the ring where the crowd hears an unfamiliar theme song. Suddenly, a debut is upon us as an unknown man in an expensive looking suit makes his way to the ring with mixed reactions. He grabs the microphone and instantly turns the mixed reactions into boos as he introduces himself as the ‘Ultimate Submission Machine’ Andy Sumner. Sumner finishes by issuing an open challenge to anyone who dares to step into the ring with him at the next show. Fatal Four Way; winner gets a shot at the NMW championship at the next show American Kickboxer V Battalion V Little Mac Empress V Azrieal Kickboxer is tall… Battalion is wide… Empress is solid… Azrieal is small… Each try to use their differences to their advantage… Azrieal has a hard time as he gets overpowered on more than one occasion… The other three battle it out in a Puroresu style… Azrieal tries to stay out of the stiff battles… Kickboxer looks for some combinations… Battalion isn’t mounting up too much offense… Empress looks to mix it up… Azrieal with a hurricanrana to Kickboxer, causing him to fly to the outside… Battalion launches Azrieal to the outside on Kickboxer… Empress is stalking Battalion… Piledriver! Little Mac Empress earns a title shot against either The Amazing Red or Super Dragon at the next show. Winner via pinfall: Little Mac Empress We go backstage for an interview with The Amazing Red. He talked about how his dream was always to be the champion of a promotion, and now that he’s made it this far, there’s no way he’s turning back. Suddenly, Azrieal connects shoulders with Red on his way back from the match. Azrieal stops and stares at Red before telling him to watch where he was going, despite the fact that Red was standing still. Ignoring Azrieal, Red left the scene to prepare for his match. Tag Team Match; NMW tag titles Team Canada (Eric Young & Johnny Devine) V Arieal Assault (Javi-Air & Bobby Quance) Both teams hungry for gold… A win here would make them the top team in NMW… The crowd is disrespectful toward Team Canada… All cheers for Arieal Assault… Javi and Quance look good together… Canada tries their hardest to keep this young team grounded… But they have difficulties as Quance signals for a shooting star… He hits it perfectly and goes for the cover on Young… Devine breaks up the count! All four men are in the ring, Young still recuperating… Devine ducks as Bobby Quance flies over him and to the outside… Javi-Air sneaks up on Devine and tosses him over the ropes… Javi spins around… Superkick! Team Canada is the first ever New Modern Wrestling tag team champions! Winners via pinfall: Team Canada Eric Young and Johnny Devine celebrate with their newly won titles before heading to the back with their belts in the air. A quick video is played to hype the finals for the New Modern Wrestling championship. Singles Match; NMW Championship The Amazing Red V Super Dragon Who will be the best? Who will come up short? The crowd can’t decide who they want to cheer for… Red is the favorable underdog… Dragon is unique and jaw-dropping… ‘Let’s go Red, let’s go Dragon, let’s go Red, let’s go Dragon…’ Dragon is control for most of the match… Red keeps fighting back with lightning quick moves… Dragon floors Red inside-out with a running clothesline… That turned the tables quite quickly… Azrieal appears at the entrance way… He laughs at Red as he lay on the canvas… Red fights back… He’s got momentum… Signals for the Code Red… He notices Azrieal… Red taunts him to walk down… His back is turned… Dragon hoists Red up… Reverse Death Valley Driver! That was sick… Super Dragon is the first ever New Modern Wrestling champion! Winner via pinfall: Super Dragon --- Predictions: British Boy (EWB): 5 Now That's Cool (Corp-X): 4 Overal Rankings: British Boy (EWB): 9 Now That's Cool (Corp-X): 4 new era(EWB): 3 MaxxHexx(GDS): 3 sebsplex(GDS): 3 (Looks like British Boy from EWB is running away with this one, but there's still one more show left until all the scores are final; look for the next card to be up soon!)

After the Show “They’re a pretty good group,” said Jet. Just down the street from the arena in a cheap restaurant sat NMW owner Mike Tyson along with his new head booker. This has been the first time that the two have sat down together to discuss the future of the company. “Oh for sure,” replied Tyson. “They’re all easy to work with and I never hear complaints. I couldn’t ask for a better roster.” Jet responded, “Well I’ve been checking out the message boards lately and it seems that a few people expect to see more classic brawlers and big men as opposed to cruiserweights and super juniors.” “I can see why they think that, but to be honest with you, these boys are cheap and know how to get the job done. They know how to attract the audience without costing me too much cash; just look at the boost in attendance from tonight’s show compared to our first! We nearly doubled it!” “Indeed we did, and Mike, as your personal head booker, you know that I plan on making New Modern Wrestling the most successful promotion on this planet. I have a lot of respect for you Mike and I feel golden that you would even give me the opportunity to work for you.” Tyson spoke up, “See Jet, that’s where you’ve made the mistake. New Modern Wrestling is currently nothing more than a local promotion… Well, maybe a bit more than that. But the fact of the matter is; all we’re trying to do here is make money. That’s our very first obligation. Without money, we’re nothing; which is why we need to keep our roster to a minimum and conserve our cash. After we start to see some green roll in, then we can worry about making it big. Get it? “I do now, and I’m glad we’re talking about this,” replied Jet. Thursday, Week 1, July 2007 --- To The Message Boards...
Good diary so far, I hope Amazing Red wins NMW Championship, but that might just be wishful thinking idk but still good stuff.
Now That's Cool (Corp-X) Thanks for the reply, even little comments like these make me happy. As for Red, well sorry he came up a bit short, however he is still a major player in NMW, and will be for a while.
I love your write-ups. Makes it easier to read and makes me more interested because most diaries I just skim down to see who the winner is but the way you have your write ups I can actually read the whole match without getting bored. Also, love that you have Team Canada reunited.
Tomster (Corp-X) Thanks Tomster! I find this method a lot easier for myself as well, as it takes less time and IMO seems to make it a bit more interesting. As for Team Canada, well I absolutely loved them in TNA and feel that they make the perfect three man faction.
Impressive. That is all I can say. I will definately keep reading!
GhostRdya316 (Corp-X) Thanks Ghost, I put a lot of hard work into my diaries and I've really took the time to be organized for this one. I know that my graphics are horibble, but seeing as paint is the only program I have, I put hard work ahead of great work.
What's the point of posting replies to people on other message boards? Anyways, it was an okay first show. I think you definitely overused Austin, but that was to be expected when your relying on guys like Javi-Air and Devine to carry your show. Honestly, that roster is jut flat out wrong. I know you're playing within the confines of the game. But this is Mike Tyson, the baddest man on the planet, the guy that bit someone's ear off. Do you think he'd fill his fed with fliptards like Red and Azriael? It's good that you have them cause they can put on good matches. But I just dont think they fit the image of what Mike Tyson's wrestlers would be. I'd think bigger guys, more hard-hitting. Guys like BLKOUT, Whitmer, Klein, Rotten, Younger, etc.
dragonfyre513 (EWB) I post replies on other boards as well so that others can see what they are saying about my diary, and if perhaps another person was thinking one of the questions asked, then there's the answer. I don't really have a straight up answer for you to be 100% honest, but I find it cool to show others what others are saying and thinking. As for Tyson being the baddest man on the planet, well, that he was... I tried to show through out the backstories, etc that Tyson was broke and realized that it was because of the way he was acting and living his life, therefore noticing that he needed to change in order for his life to not get any worst. Also, its only two shows into the diary, with Tyson as the owner, anything can happen. As for bigger guys vs. smaller guys, well like in the 'after the show' post, it's mostly because these workers are cheap and know how to work. I'm having a hard time signing anyone over $200 per appearance because if I do that, NMW is gonna go under and the diary is basically over. I realllly dont want that to happen, so I'm taking every precaution there is. I understand that Tyson probably wouldnt sign flip-tards like Red & Azrieal, but that's his only option for now. I appreciate the criticism and use it as a motivator, so thanks for the comments and I hope that you enjoy the diary, if you're still reading.
Alright, first thing first, you did overuse Austin in your first card. The idea is there as he clearly has to be you vocal point, just less of him and more on your other roster. The roster is lacking in some areas. Tyson is very unpredictable so id like to see more of a hardcore, or just more brawling basis as your roster is made up of high flyers. Overall the show was great. Keep up the great work, ill be reading.
British_Boy (EWB) I'll be the first to admit that I overused Austin and I know that I shouldn't have focused so much on him, however I looked at it this way: I'm a local fed trying to gain money and popularity.. Any fed for that matter who could get their hands on Austin for one night would have probably did the same thing. Maybe not, but most likely. Also, since his in-game stats are pretty good, I figured that more good ratings would equal to a better overal rating, gaining me more popularity than normal. I appreciate the fact however that you both pointed that out, as I'll try to stay away from doing so if a situation such as this occurs again. And like I said above, it's only two shows in, so you never know what to expect, but I can guarantee that things are about to heat up. Thanks for the replies!

I feel that I need to make a long un-scheduled, but necessary post here. I'd first off like to thank everyone who has been reading and responding to this diary, as it enlightens me to know that my hard work pays off when I see that someone has left a reply in my thread. And I especially want to thank everyone who leaves constructive criticism. Vitamin E, I'd just like to say thank you for replying to my diary and letting me know how you truly feel about it. It's people like yourself that inspire diary writer's like me to make their diaries better. To everyone else, you've all of course inspired me by leaving positive feedback and keeping a smile on my face everytime that I see a new person has predicted or commented on my show. I'd just like to clarify a few things however:
Not sure what to think about Tyson starting a wrestling promotion... I dont know if its impossible, but I think itd be highly unlikely...One thing I recomend is not doing the whole backstage bit just because of the lack of knowledge of what these people are like in their normal lives and everything. I notice the WWE released some people that I couldnt see them releasing with no reason, so hopefully you dont pick any of them, mostly people like Bischoff, up and just go with what you have. The format you use for matches is like The Ego's at GDS, and I dont really care for the format he uses. It's hard to tell with yours because you dont give match times. Most of the match write ups arent really about the match and when they are they are short one lined things. I dont really care for that format. A quick recap would be better and wouldnt be too different and would give a lot more to the match rather than a few lines of what happened and then the rest being about the wrestlers or what the crowd is doing/chanting/thinking. Like in one match you say the crowd let out two "holy ****" chants, but dont tell why they were chanting it. I think a different match format would let you give more information about the match than you currently give. Not much else to say as not much has been posted as of yet.
Now normally if I were to see this in someone's diary, they'd either ignore it or say something like "If you don't like my diary then leave", or something along the lines of that. I however, again have to thank Vitamin E. He's not attacking, he's being helpful. He clearly stated that he feels that a different match format would give more information rather than my current format. Here's a few things that I'd like to point out firstly; The only reason I post things like 'before the show' and 'after the show' is so I can incorporate an in-game detail into my diary. I find it much more amusing and interesting to have a story for why something happened or is happening. An example would be my last post of 'after the show' .. the only reason I posted that was so that the readers of this diary can read what my goals are as head booker. I find this way much more interesting then randomly posting 'head booker goals' and then listing the four goals and clicking post. That would make the diary seem more like a game than a realistic read. However, I do 100% agree that going too in-depth is wrong, as like Vitamin E stated, I don't personally know the characters therefore my lack of knowledge of how these people actually live their lives can make the diary unrealistic. Meaning that thanks to Vitamin E and constructive criticism, I'm going to attempt to change the method of how I incorporate in-game details into my diary, by trying to get away from using 'before and after the show'. Secondly, yes the WWE has made a lot of releases. Will I pick any of them up? Definitely Not. Being as small as my promotion is, and my owner goals involving money; not promotion popularity, I couldn't care less who is on my roster as long as they're cheap and can keep me in the plus side financially. Again, the only reason I wrote that story was to make it aware to the readers that a worker (Austin) who was going to be at one of my shows was released, therefore making it realistic to have him at my show. And thirdly, yes The Ego and I have similar match write-ups. We both agree that to-the-point matches are more important than a match that tells you which way a wrestlers arm is being twisted when he's put in an armbar. I still feel that my match-write ups are different than his because (no disrespect to Ego, and I'm sure none taken) Ego includes the actual moves into his write-up, making a twenty minute match only feel like it was four or five. My strategy is to give facts which creates an image in the readers mind of how the match was, without giving them the in-game rating of the match (whether it be D+ or something like that). The better the match rating, the better I'm going to try to boast the match. What I mean by that is if the match ended up as a C, then I'm going to try and give facts about the match which would make the match seem like a 'C' match. If it's an A, then the reader will be able to tell by the information which I present that the match was in that region. I feel that this is realistic in the sense that fans don't go to a wrestling event and say "That match was a B-". The fans generally know if it was a good match or not. --and just to note, if it's been hard for the readers to tell if the matches were really good or not, it'll be way easier when my next show is posted as I'll be putting more effort into them from now on. Another thing which I am going to start including is the length of the match, which is somthing that I should have been including since the very start. And the last thing that I'm going to modify is what I post in this diary. I've decided that I'm going to try and stay away from what's going on outside of my promotion, meaning I'm probably not going to be posting things such as "Kurt Angle was released from TNA". This way, my diary will focus only on what it needs to be focused on, such as the growth and development of New Modern Wrestling, my goals as head booker, storylines, etc. Finally, I'd like to say that my next post will be a detailed list of NMW's roster. This should have been one of the first posts in this thread, but it's better late than never. The post will include the wrestler, picture, details, previous titles, etc. This way here, everyone is aware of who is wrestling and who they are, including a bit of their hostory. The reason for this is so that the reader's dont feel isolated into thinking that they only know four out of the ten wrestlers in a show, which could possibly turn them away from reading. So once again, thank you everyone for everything, and thank you Vitamin E as your constructive criticims has already began to make my diary better. If anyone has anything they'd like to say, please say it. good, bad, long, short, I dont care. Every post that is posted in this thread I have taken into consideration. Even posts like "Impressive. That is all I can say. I will definately keep reading!" give me a lot to think about. So all and all, I know this was a long post, but I hope that whoever read this also learned something from it. Roster will be up soon! Thanks everyone!
