It is time to prove that the National Wrestling Alliance has no competition as the top spot. It is time to prove that the NWA has the best wrestling, the best athletes, the best shows on the market. It's a lofty goal, one that might not sit well with the National Wrestling Alliance itself but it would be the only way to compete with Vince McMahon. Vince is going national soon or at least he is going to try. That means that someone has to be ready to compete with him at all costs. The 4 promotions that would seemingly be within the race for national. There is, of course, Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Federation, Jim Crockett Jr.'s Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, Jim Barnett's Georgia Championship Wrestling and Verne Gagne's American Wrestling Association. 2 out of 4 reside within the NWA boundaries. The AWA has not yet been declared war on by the National Wrestling Alliance but the WWF has. So the true race for power will be between Jim Crockett, Jr. and Jim Barnett. Crockett has the advantage because he has the NWA World Heavyweight Champion in his pocket.
