However this month he has the small matter of a submissions match against JD Morgan to talk about. JB: Hello again, Merle. Long time no see. Oā€™C: I saw you backstage last week. JB: I meant in a website intervā€¦.never mind. Youā€™ve got a pretty important week coming up with your submissions match against JD Morgan. Despite ROF being a company based on pure wrestling, this special type of match doesnā€™t come around very often. Your thoughts? Oā€™C: Submissions suit me. Iā€™m an expert at them. JB: But then the same could be said about your opponent JD Morgan. Often called The Dean of Submissions over in the US, heā€™s got that Cross Atlantic Stretch. Oā€™C: Heā€™s dangerous, no doubt. But Iā€™m better. JB: He has quite the experience advantage though. Do you see him as your biggest threat so far? After all, youā€™ve been a dominant champion for over a year now and faced numerous challengers ā€“ but probably none have tested you quite like JD did in your title match last month? Oā€™C: He had momentum on his side then. Now he doesnā€™t. JB: One of your recent challengers was Billy Robinson, following your backstage spat. Can you tell us what went on there? Oā€™C: No. JB: Not just a little bit of information for the ROF fans? Oā€™C: I just said something typically charismatic to him. He flipped. JB: Charismatic? Youā€™re joking, right? Oā€™C: I donā€™t joke. JB: Getting back to businessā€¦youā€™ve probably been the most dominant ROF champion in the companyā€™s history. Youā€™ve beaten many top guys like Dragon, Stoat, Walter and JD Morgan, Samurai and others. Because of your progress you even got into the Pro Wrestling Hits top 100 wrestlers in the world. How did that make you feel? Oā€™C: You sound like I should have been surprised. JB: Well, it was an achievement for a UK based wrestler to make the list. You must have been proud of that. Oā€™C: What some American journalist thinks is not important. Theyā€™re only second in ignorance to British journalists like you. The ROF Championship is whatā€™s important. Who cares if someone is 5 in the world, 50 in the world, 500 in the world? It doesnā€™t matter. JB: Thanks for talking Merle. I think Morgan is more than worthy to be champion and it is about time for a title change. But you may be going for O'Curle to be old school dominant and that usually means being champion for a couple of years at least. I say Morgan just for some new main event combinations while O'Curle trains up your midcard regaining momentum.

Can he return to his glory days and make Morganā€™s hard-earned title disappear straight away? Also for fans in attendanceā€¦ Par Excellence vs Warriors of Honour Keith Adams vs Kā€™Lee Hawkins ______________________________
This month sees a return to the olden days of UK wrestling with the title match between new champion JD Morgan and Donny Damage. Justin Blackham spent some time talking with Donny Damage before his biggest match in some time. JB: Well, Donny, your title shot is around the corner. What happened to make this opportunity come about? DD: I think it was Samurai and Wez Blooze that put two and two together when they realised that both JD and I were on the roster. Samurai was a young guy making his way in MOSC when I was headlining shows up there back in the day, even though JD was gone by then, and I know that Wez is a long-time student of the UK scene. They approached me and asked if Iā€™d be willing to step in the ring again. This was actually a few months ago, nearer to when JD joined. I turned down the chance, because I didnā€™t want to step in the ring again and make a mockery of our past rivalry with some half-assed effort. JB: But something made you change your mind? DD: Yeah, I made me change my mind. As I thought about it, I got that urge to step in the ring again, especially with someone as talented as JD with whom I had all that history. So I got into some serious training over the past few months and Iā€™d say that Iā€™m in as good shape now as Iā€™ve ever been. Itā€™s just the ring rust I might have to worry about. JB: Itā€™s pure coincidence then that youā€™re ready physically at the precise moment JD becomes champion? DD: Youā€™re not as thick as you look, Blackham. Obviously itā€™s an ideal time to face him. It adds an extra spark to proceedings. Iā€™d love to end his title reign as soon as it has begun. JB: Just for anyone not in the know, can you quickly run through your past history together? DD: When MOSC started up in 1988, both JD and I joined up with the company. We soon became 2 of the top 3 guys in the company, alongside Highland Warrior. Greg [McPeterson ā€“ Highland Warrior] became the inaugural champion, but JD soon won it off him. I beat JD for the belt in 1989 but he won it back off me a few months later. History repeated itself in 1991, when I beat Morgan only for him to again with the belt back about 6 months later. We had a great rivalry, but he then left for the States while I stuck around in MOSC and won the title another couple of times. JB: Pretty much everyone I speak to is writing off your chances in this match. They say that youā€™re a retired wrestler, that youā€™ve had your day in the sun and some even said you should have had to earn your title opportunity. What could you say to change their minds? DD: JD and I are very similar. Weā€™re a similar age and physically weā€™re nearly identical. The difference is that he has match sharpness right now. But if you look at our head-to-head record, youā€™ll find that I actually beat him more times than he beat me, and our matches were very close each time. Plus, now Iā€™m in good shape, itā€™s not as though Iā€™d necessarily stay retired if I were to win that belt. You know, there are certain things that can bring a man out of retirement, Blackham. JB: Be that as it may, youā€™ve carved a good career for yourself as road agent with ROF. Do you enjoy that role? DD: Yes, itā€™s quite fulfilling to be a mentor and help put together matches for the younger guys. JB: How much input do you have into the final in-ring product? DD: It depends on the guys involved. Some guys like Oā€™Curle, Dragon, JD donā€™t really need me telling them what they should and shouldnā€™t be doing and some guys like to feel the flow of the match. But a few of the youngsters still need to be taught a thing or two about in-ring psychology. Itā€™s really important that you can tell a story inside that ring, particularly in a promotion like ROF, where pretty much every story stems from what happens in that ring rather than out of it. JB: Do you have any regrets about your career, Donny? Many people said you should have wrestled more in Japan, something British guys like UK Dragon and Barry Griffin have done more of in recent years. DD: I donā€™t regret not working Japan more regularly. By the time the chance arose, I was already comfortable and well established in the UK and I didnā€™t really see the need to fly all that way just to wrestle. I had the odd tour and bout out there, but I like being home and didnā€™t want to swap that. Maybe if the chance had come around when I was in my mid-20s, but I was already mid-30s and married and settled when I was offered more dates out there. JB: Finally, where do you see your chances in the title match? Somewhere between slim and none? DD: Iā€™m glad you think youā€™re funny, Blackham, because nobody else does. Iā€™ve a much better chance than people think in this match. Iā€™ve been watching JD these past months and I know his game. He hasnā€™t seen me wrestle in a long while, so despite our past matches, Iā€™m more of an unknown quantity to him. Heā€™s also had some tough bouts with Oā€™Curle lately and will have just wrestled a DAVE show a couple of days earlier and flown in at pretty short notice for the event. You might just be surprised. Donny Damage is fit and raring to go and might just have one more main event run in him yet.
Predictions ROF Tag Team Titles The Shooters Ā© vs The Wigan Bulldogs Keith Adams vs Merle Oā€™Curle 6-man Tag Team Dragon vs Team Stoat ROF Championship JD Morgan Ā© vs Donny Damage
