Certainly a night of surprises and it made a mockery of everyone's predicting skills, this is certainly not the predictable fed it was a year (game time) ago. Couldn't help noticing in the who's hot/not section that Yasuhiko Taira won the BHOTWG World Title. Yippee Burning Hammer fans can look forward to some exciting 3 minute Title matches
OOC... In terms of predicting, yep that was a tougher show than it used to be. It wasn't particularly by design. The injury to Matt Gauge threw my booking plans regarding the tag titles - High and Low getting them at this stage was some recognition for their hard work over the past couple of years, but wasn't the original plan. I feel Stoat has had his title shots (for now) and he was a good candidate with his persona to overlook Jones to help build up the newcomer's momentum a little. I have some contract issues with Burning EXILE, which speeded up him losing the Talisman belt. Also, in terms of predicting, I've got a larger roster now in an effort to get more UK wrestlers' skills up quicker. That also means it'll be a bit more competitive and there are more wrestlers on similar levels than there were before. I want to be at the point where any of Dragon, O'Curle, JD Morgan, Walter Morgan and Stones could foreseeably beat each other at the top end of the card, with Stoat as an added spanner in the works. I've got to work on the midcard and tag divisions a little to get a similar open feel to those. There aren't enough viable Talisman and tag title contenders right now. Yasuhiko Taira...yes, I thought you'd notice and enjoy that one! :D

ROF Talisman Title Billy Robinson © vs Don Henderson Lightning doesn't strike twice so to speak as Robinson (haircut ! haircut !) actually manages to make a succesful defence this time against his former tag partner turned bitter rival ROF Tag Team Titles High and Low © vs Warriors of Honour High and Low's out of no-where title reign is short lived as the Warriors win their belts back. I still see the long term plan as G-Force going over the Warriors to win the tag straps, then going on a strong run themselves. JD Morgan vs Walter Morgan Both are good technicians, but Walter has alot more years left in him, where as JD is at that age where he could suddenly decide to hang up the boots any day soon. JD had his unstoppable run when he first came into ROF leading up to his title reign. But once he lost that title he lost that aura he had, and is no longer the unbeatable force when he came in. Walter has now elevated himself into the main event and after a couple of tough title match losses, this would re cement his newly earned place in the main event scene. Kevin Jones vs Stevie Stoat The over confident Stoat makes the same mistake twice and takes the new-comer from MOSC too lightly. Stoat then throws a hissy fit after the match. Number One Contender match Merle O’Curle vs Rolling Johnny Stones Simply because we've had O'Curle-Dragon before and Stones-Dragon would be the fresher title match up. ROF Championship UK Dragon © vs Burning EXILE The Talisman belt was hot-shotted off EXILE due to contract issues, so naturally I don't think he will win the main belt. But this should be a very good match, in what possibly might be EXILE's final match in an ROF ring.

At last week's Short Fuse event in London, High and Low (Johnny Highspot and Jonni Lowlife) made their first defence of their newly won tag team titles. Their opponents were supposed to be G-Force, but Matt Gauge's injury kept him out of action. Greg Gauge's partner was Burning EXILE, and the swiftly put together team shocked High and Low by winning the match and the belts. With Burning EXILE already involved in the ROF Championship match at Great Balls of Fire, it means the tag straps will not be defended at the event and the High and Low vs Warriors of Honour match will now be a non-title encounter, with the winner obviously placing themselves well for the next title shot. A few ROF fans have already made predictions on our forums - they should feel free to change any of their predictions in the light of this news.

ROF Talisman Title Billy Robinson © vs Don Henderson I hate this man, but you seem to like the strap on him. ROF Tag Team Titles High and Low vs Warriors of Honour They need a rematch, and I think winning this will help them get it. JD Morgan vs Walter Morgan Boo JD. I picked Walter last time to win the title, and I'm picking him again. Kevin Jones vs Stevie Stoat HA. I totally picked this one last time, and he is going to do it again. Number One Contender match Merle O’Curle vs Rolling Johnny Stones It is Merles time now. ROF Championship UK Dragon © vs Burning EXILE It is only Merles time AFTER Taka****a has held all three championship.s

His opponent is new to ROF – Razor Valentine is a very dangerous martial arts specialist, very experienced and well known to UK wrestling fans. Given O’Curle’s success over the past couple of years in ROF, he has to be hot favourite to win this and gain back some momentum. But does Valentine have a surprise in store? ROF Tag Team Titles – 4-team Ladder match Future X vs G-Force vs High and Low vs Warriors of Honour With only days to the event, Burning EXILE is nowhere to be found. Therefore ROF management have made the decision to strip EXILE and Greg Gauge of the tag titles and have set up this groundbreaking match – the first ever ladder match in ROF history – to crown new champions. The smart money is on G-Force or the Warriors of Honour, but the ladder match might just even the odds for specialist high-flyers like Future X and High and Low. Whatever happens, Inferno will see new tag champions crowned. ROF Talisman Title Billy Robinson © vs Stevie Stoat Stevie Stoat’s victory in the 4-way last month has landed him the Talisman title shot at Billy Robinson here at Inferno. Stoat has been a perennial challenger for the ROF Championship, and has held gold in 21CW as well, so will fancy his chances of winning a first Talisman title here. Robinson, having seen off the challenge of Don Henderson, has a tough task but is steadily improving as a worker. Perhaps the biggest question mark here is which of the egos (surely the two biggest in ROF) will survive this battle? Don Henderson vs Kevin Jones These two men have suffered defeats on both the last two ROF special events and are looking to get back to winning ways here. Henderson was briefly the Talisman champion in the early part of 2009 and is a very skilled technical worker, whilst Jones is an all-rounder who has shown some very good skills in ROF so far. Henderson badly needs a win to give his career some direction and stability, whilst Jones will want to build towards a title match soon. Walter Morgan & Nigel Svensson vs JD Morgan & ??? Walter and JD Morgan have built up a strong rivalry in the past couple of months, each scoring a submission victory over the other. Meanwhile, Nigel Svensson has joined the ROF ranks from the same wrestling school as Walter and the pair have joined forces on Short Fuse with success. Now they have laid down a challenge to JD – find a partner and take them on at Inferno. No word yet on who JD will have to partner him. He’ll certainly need someone good. ROF Championship UK Dragon © vs Rolling Johnny Stones UK Dragon laid out Rolling Johnny Stones with a Dragon Drop in last month’s title triple threat match, but chose to pin Merle O’Curle instead. Stones claims he’d have kicked out of Dragon’s pin attempt. Now he gets the chance to prove it, as at Inferno the two men will battle 1 on 1 for the first time in over 3 years (since Stones’ first run with the company). Can Dragon continue his massively impressive streak as champion, or will Stones add the ROF title to his impressive resume? ______________________________
Justin Blackham is back (we’d like to say by popular demand) with his website interview slot this month. And his focus is the tag match that has been set for Inferno involving Walter and JD Morgan. JB spoke to JD about the match, and to try and find out who his partner would be. JB: Long time no see, JD. JD: I thought you must have probably got the sack by now, kid. What exactly is your job around here anyway? JB: I do the announcing for the website and have my column in the newsletter. Anyway, we’re not here to talk about me, we’re here to talk about you. JD: You’re right, that would be far more interesting. JB: Over the past couple of months you’ve had quite the burgeoning rivalry with the other Morgan in ROF - Walter. Is there a reason behind this sudden animosity towards one another? JD: I think you’re misunderstanding, kid. There is no real animosity. That’s not what this rivalry is about. Walter is a great technical wrestler. I’m a great technical wrestler. We’re both at the top of our game. I came to ROF for some competition, and Walter is one of the few men here who can offer that. He represents a challenge to me. There’s nothing personal in this and I have absolutely nothing against him. But it doesn’t mean I don’t want to beat his ass into the mat. JB: So you weren’t embarrassed when he beat you at Great Balls of Fire? JD: Embarrassed isn’t the word, Blackham. Don’t forget he’d already beaten me at Combustion as well earlier in the year. JD Morgan doesn’t get embarrassed, but he does get even. That’s 2 losses I’ve taken to Walter, and I can take losses. But to me that’s now 2 losses I owe to him. I got one back at Holocaust. Now it’s time for me to strike back for the second time at Inferno. JB: Hang on a minute, though. At Holocaust some people say the deck was stacked in your favour by the match being made a submission match. JD: By ‘some people’, do you actually mean there are people saying that, or is it just your way of trying to wind me up? JB: No, you have to admit that submissions are your speciality, so it gave you an advantage. JD: Don’t under-estimate Walter’s submission skills. Sure, submission matches are right up my street. But on that day I’d have beaten him in any kind of match. Hell, I’d have even beaten him in a bra and panties match. JB: Give me a moment to get that image out of my head. Jeez… JD: Anyway, this month at Inferno, I’m going to get my second win back against Walter. JB: Ah yes, this time you’re booked in a tag match. Walter has already chosen his partner, picking Nigel Svensson, who although talented is nothing more than a rookie. Yet you are keeping your cards close to your chest. Is that because you’re trying to seek the advantage again, or because you can’t find anyone to team up with? JD: Blackham, you are seriously pushing my patience. It’s neither of those things. I have a partner and I’m choosing to keep their identity under wraps. Walter could have done the same but chose not to. There’s nothing sinister at work here, Blackham. You’re like a bad lawyer, trying to dig for things that just aren’t there. JB: You’ve brought Frankie Perez into ROF as a favour in the past. Is it him? JD: Kid, if I wanted people to know who it was, I would have announced it already. I certainly wouldn’t give you the satisfaction and the career lift by letting you get it out of me. JB: Not even one clue? JD: All I will say is that the fans will be happy and he’s raring to go. JB: Ah-ha. So it’s definitely a he? JD: Of course. I don’t do girls, Blackham. Erm…I mean… JB: After the bra and panties, I don’t think the wrestling world can cope with any more revelations, JD! JD: Shut up, Blackham. This interview is over. You can speak to me again after I win at Inferno.
ROF Inferno – August 2009 Merle O’Curle vs Razor Valentine ROF Tag Team Titles – 4-team Ladder match Future X vs G-Force vs High and Low vs Warriors of Honour ROF Talisman Title Billy Robinson © vs Stevie Stoat Don Henderson vs Kevin Jones Walter Morgan & Nigel Svensson vs JD Morgan & ??? But I don't think Morgan would have been allied with Ota in 2009, so I can promise you it's not him!
ROF Talisman Title Billy Robinson © vs Stevie Stoat Stoat deserves nothing.
:D Poor Stevie still not getting any love eh Apu. He did get the best match rating in ROF history a while back. Ok, it was with UK Dragon...but still a B+ for the Stoatmeister. You'll have to wait and see whether or not you'll be happy after this event then. :p
