Long Story Short The McMahon family, after the huge fallout from the Benoit tragedy and congressional intervention, felt that they needed to help re-invent the wrestling industry... They decided on a brand extension that they would secretly fund, that could bring back an oldschool mentality to the world of professional wrestling...The idea wa to create a territory where they could send some of the non-pushed/developemental stars to create names for themselves in a small little corner of the country... Eventually they hoped that their new concept would rival TNA and with the growth of ROH and a rededicated WWE the wrestling industry in the states would flourish again... Jim Ross was put in charge of this project...he and Vince McMahon had a series of meetings to discuss McMahon selling some of the contracts of his underused talent and some developemental guys to help get this territory off the ground... Jim Ross contacted an old buddy from Oklahoma, a man who hadn't sold his wrestling library to Vince and that buddy decided to put his promotions history, title lineage, video library behind Jim Ross... That man was Bill Watts... This move infuriated McMahon and to top things off, Ross used his name, Watts library, Mcmahon's talent and a silent partner who works at a television network (Thats where my character comes into play) to sign a national television deal on the Versus Network... The new wrestling territory will begin its ascent into the wrestling mainstream promoting shows in Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi... Watts will serve as the inagural commisioner... The talent is ready, the wrestling world has eagerly awaited, the time has come for an Old School Wrestling Territory to get back in business....as..... Meanwhile Wyatt Young dominates the early part of the match with an array of Body Slams, hip tosses and dropkicks...Kofi turns heel and yells at Hager and then at Wyatt...and both Hager and Young shake hands and take it to Kofi Kingston, when suddenly from the back emerges a man in a turban and robe that looks very familiar.. Akbar grabs the mic and states...You think you can recreate the glory days of Mid South Wrestling with new talent, well I'm here to tell you that I'm almost 70 years old but I'm as nasty, as calculating, as manipulitive as sadistic as I've ever been and Devastation Incorporated never died..It just waited for the right moment and the right moment is now...This man (pointing to giant Bernard) is 6 foot 6 360lbs of the nastiest, hariest, beast in professional wrestling and Kamala was a savage, still is a savage and is still close 400 pounds of sadistic violence... As long as I live and I think it will be along time, because the devil thinks I will takeover down there and wants no part of me, Devastation Incorporated will be here to rule Mid South Wrestling. Charlie Haas started the match and looked great throwing Trevor Murdoch around the ring...Murdoch frustrated and tagged in Kasey James and he got a bit of the same culminating in a press slam which James sold like he was shot and the pro Oklahoman crowd popped..James tagged back in Murdoch and he and Haas went into some mat wrestling that even Ross was impressed that he didn't think these 2 big hosses were capable of... Haas came out on top again and went to tag in Kasey James, but James dropped to the floor and avoided...This made Murdoch and haas both upset as Haas shouted words out Kasey James....Brent Albright then slapped Haas on the back tagging himself in and went right after Murdoch...Albright hit his array of tosses and Suplexes and went for his crowbar...Which Murdoch reversed into one of his own, when James tagged himself in by slapping Murdoch on the head...James came in kickin and Stompin and went for a german suplex which Albright reversed into a set of 3 germans...Albright refused to tag out instead continuing to pummel James until he hot tagged Murdoch...Murdoch came in with a series of elbows knocking Albright into Haas who tagged in himself..Haas and Murdoch exchanged blows...Albright was mad, then Haas tagged himself in and they began to push and shove each other...Murdoch Knocked their heads together and Albright fell out of the ring...Muroch went for a suplex which he held Haas up for 20 seconds but Haas reversed this into his own... Albright tried to come back in the ring but referee Billy Dlaton ushered him out...While his back was turned Kasey James blasted Charlie Haas in the face with with a chain wrapped around his fist and Murdoch crumbled on top of Charlie haas for the 1..2....3... Murdoch become upset and shoved Kasey James....Kasey backed away and offered his hand to Murdoch apologizing and Murdoch shook hi hand and then Kasey blasted Murdoch from behind with the chain...Kasey James brother Cassidy James ran out and the two double teame Trevor Murdoch by stomping a mudhole into him, until CHarlie Haas came around and saved Trevor Murdoch from the 2 on 1 attack by swinging a steel chair at both the James Boys... Haas grabbed the mic and said, "I don't know who I can trust around here, and I dont know if I can trust you, but these North American Tag Titles that are looking to wrap around someone's waste, so why don't that someone be me & you..Texas/Oklahoma rivalry aside...lets go after those titles...Murdoch holding his head reaches out with his hand and the two shake hands ATTACK: RATED: D Haas & Murdoch form tandom: RATED: B-
A highlight music video to the tune of "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns-N-Roses plays showing Highlights of "The Alpha Male" Marcus Cor Von, coming to MSW plays: RATED: C Ross and Watts talk up Cor Von being "The Alpha Male" and his NFL experience and that he has been dominate in TNA and ECW and now wants to make his presence known without limitations in MSW....They go into announcing that tonights main event should be a scientific masterpiece as Mr. Olympia II takes on "The Wrestling Machine" Doug Basham is next
MATCH #3 vs "The Wrestling Machine" Doug Basham v Mr. Olympia II Ross and Watts talk about how the original Mr. Olympia was one of the most underated wrestlers in the original Mid South...This Mr. Olympia #2 comes in weighing about 225lbs and standing about 6 feet tall... He is a bit pasty in appearance and has some muscle definition, but may be a little out of shape...Basham looks in phenominal shape and goes right at Olympia II but Olympia II shows he is in great wrestling shape having a counter ot every Basham counter to one of his holds and Basham bails from The ring going into stall mode...Again as they get in the ring and try some mat based work...Olympia escapes and counters every Basham flurry of moves...Basham finally resorts to a finger through the mask hole..to take advantage...Much like how Olympia II dominated the first half of the match, Basham dominates the second half as he removed a turnbuckle and slammed Mr. Olympia II's head into the steel under the turnbuckle padding resulting in some blood leaking through the mask...However Mr. Olympia II shows how resillient he can be... Fighting back despite blood loss and kicking out at 2 after each and every Basham pin attempt... Basham began weakening the knee of Olympia II as Ross mentions how Basham has been perfecting the figure four leglock...Basham finally applies figure four with just 1 minute remaining in television time remaining main event...Olympia is stuck right in the middle of the ring and Basham continues to jerk back on the ankle, while applying pressure...Olympia II's shoulders hit mat but he kicks out at 2 7/8th each time...Finally Olympia II Just starts screaming in pain as the countdown from 20 seconds left in the match is announced to the crowd...The crowd cheers as timekeeper rings the bell as They are excited that Mr. Olympia didn't give up and the contest is ruled a draw... Observer notes by Dave Meltzer MSW: The new Mid South territorial promotion made their much anticipated National television debut on Versus...The promotion which spawned from an idea by Vince McMahon and Jim Ross saw several WWE talents that were not going to be given a push as well as some developemental prospects to get going has turned into it's own independant wrestling promotion as McMahon has severed any affiliation after Ross brought on Bill Watts and Jim Cornette as partners... Watts role is as color commentator and commisioner, while Cornette is working behind the scenes with Steve Williams and Ted Dibiase... Their first program saw Watts come out to a large ovation as the TV taping was held at the Tulsa COnvention Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma...MSW seems to be drawing on local ties of several wrestlers from in and around the Oklahoma/Texas area... Charlie Haas, Brent Albright, Jake Hager are all from Oklahoma...While Trevor Murdoch is from Texas... Hager wrestled Wyatt Young and Kofi Kingston (3 former WWE developemental talents) in a 3 way that was interupted by 73 year old Skandor Akbar's intrusion of Devastation Incorporated (Giant Bernard and Kamala..yes the original Kamala-James Harris)... In the semi-main event Trevor Murdoch teamed with kasey James to take on Brent Albright and Charlie Haas in matchup of 4 former underused WWE talents.. The outcome saw both James turning on Murdoch and Albright turning on Haas...Kasey James brother Cassidy James hit the ring to double team Murdoch, when Charlie haas made the save...Haas and Murdoch formed an alliance that looks like they may be leading contender's for newly established North American tag Titles.... In the Main Event... Mr. Olympia II and Doug Basham wrestled to a 15 minute draw... MSW has been very hush on the identitiy of Mr. Olympia II...The original Mr. Olympia was a very underated grappler back inthe original Mid South days and this version of Olympia II has some of the same scientific qualities as the original...Basham is playing a heel and looked very impressive in a Ted Dibiase...Heel but can out wrestle you type character...In dark matches several other former WWE developemental talents saw action including Ted Dibiase's 2 sons Ted Jr. and Mike and Terry Gordy's son Ray Gordy going by the name Terry ray Gordy... The initial reaction was very positive, but one will have to wonder how long Versus will deal with the .03 rating that Power Pro Wrestling recieved in its Wednesday Night time slot.. OTHER NEWS: WWE cleaned house and then built themselves up again, releaseing many backstage workers such as Pat Patterson, Michael Hayes, Sgt. Slaughter, Ricky Steamboat, Arn Anderson, Ron Simmons and signing Chris Jericho, Bob Sapp, Matt Anoai (Rosey), John Heidenreich, Scott hall, Chris Kanyon and Ron Killings... The E also moved Dave Batista from Smackdown to ECW brand and most recent RAw saw John Cena defend his World title against Mr. Kennedy and Umaga defend his Intercontinental title versus Bobby Lashley... OVW: Saw Sylvan Grenier defeat Mike Kruel for the OVW heavyweight championship... Aaron Idol and Johnny Jeter defeated Robbie Dawber and Daniel Rodimer for OVW Tag titles... In TNA: the most recent impact saw Kurt Angle defeat Rhino and Samoa Joe defend his X division title vs AJ Styles... Thats all for this week check back next week, for all the latest news in the world of professional wrestling

JR's Blog By Gawd, we finally got it together and got this show on the road....It was real nice to put on a wrestling show in one of my old stomping grounds of Tulsa, Oklahoma and in fact, we will be returning there each week throughout the month of August for our Power Pro Wrestling TV taping... Word is Mid South, will get on the road in about a month's time with a weekly house show event each and every Friday Night... Power Pro Wrestling will hopefully become the vehicle that drives everyone to our big Friday Night show...Currently we are in negotiations with promoters in New Orleans, LA...Shreveport, LA...Houston, TX and Oklahoma City, OK...All of the cities are former stronghold areas of the old Mid South Wrestling... On to our debut show...I cant tell you how excited I was to here about the teaming of Charlie Haas and Brent Albright...I had visions of Steve Williams and Ted Dibiase dancing in my head, but unfortunately I cant tell how dissapointed I was to see that pairing not work...I got a feeling if and when these 2 square off one-on-one we might have a chance to see something special... I've got to hand it to the big ole Cowboy himself; Bill Watts for pulling double duty as commish and as color commentator...Bill's first order of business is that he wants to bring back prestige and honor to what has become a lost art and thats tag team Wrestling...Hopeully being the first title that Watts has put up for grabs will really bring back a tag team mentality here in Mid South...I just dont know how long he'll be able to pull double duty and because of the demands of the commisionership, a search is on to find me a new sidekick for Power Pro broadcasts.. I'll tell you another thing I saw last Wednesday that I cant believe and that was Skandor Akbar, all 73 years of him, come in and seem more sadistic then ever before...and with Giant Bernard behind him, not to mention the ageless Kamala...I guess he has some real heavy hitters to back up his talking... Our main event of Doug Basham v Mr. Olympia II was a classic scientific throwback match... There is certainly some mystery behind Mr. Olympia II, but he can certainly get it done in the ring and in particular on the mat, while Basham shows he's more than just a tag team wrestler...I'm sure we'll see these 2 square off again in the near future... Be sure to tune in this Wednesday for another episode of Power Pro Wrestling and check back here, each and every week for my rant on whats going on in Mid South Wrestling... JR

Onto the match...Bull & Bradley look to be physically the most imposing slamming each and every team as they tried to lock up with them...Doane tags himself in and so does Jake Hager...These two lock horns amateur style which Hager dominates, frustrating Doane, who resorts to an eye rake to take advantage...Gordy comes in with a thumb off the top rope to the kneck of Hager for a pin attempt, but other 5 wrestlers run in to break it up......Dibiase's fall into a 2 on 2 with Hager & Young as the other 4 make their way out of the ring.... Bradley goes for a chair out side, takes vicious swing that Gordy ducks and he knocks out his own partner in Jack Bull.... midsouthwrestling.com midsouthwrestling.com Last week, we saw a pull apart argument between two Mid South Wrestling legends "Dr. Death" Steve Williams and Ted Dibiase...Our sorces have told us, that Doc, has been just looking for an explanantion of why Ted had to interject himself in last weeks 4 team survival tag team match...Dibiase's only response has been if Doc has problem with me, we can settle it in the ring.... Matchmakers have been quick to sign two wrestling legends to appear in the ring this week on Power Pro Wrestling as Steve Williams will team with Jake Hager and Wyatt Young to take on Ted Dibiase and his two sons Ted Jr. and Mike Dibiase also signed for Power Pro Wrestling this week "The Gunner" Brent Albright vs Mr. Olympia II vs "The Wrestling Machine" Doug Basham....Olympia II and Basham fought to a time limit draw on the very first episode of Power pro Wrestling and Albright has made it known that he is out for himself and himself only as he walked out on Charlie Haas in a recent tag team matchup.. Skandor Akbar is also set to debut his "Nightmare" on Mid South this week as well... All this and more MSW's Power Pro Wrestling on Versus

Doc became infuriated but tagged in Jake Hager as Ted Sr. tagged in Junior...Jake and Tedy took to some amateur wrestling, which Jake took control of and gutwrenched suplexed Teddy acroos the ring...The Dibiase's huddled up and Mike tagged in as did Wyatt Young...Wyatt counted Mike's holds...hold for hold..But Mike grabbbed a side headlock, leading to a tag in in which Mike, who was thrown into the ropes, bounced back sliding threw Wyatts leags and Teddy hit a vicious clotheline...Ted then hit a couple of fist drops, before tagging his father in, who applied the Million dollar dream....Wyatt dropped out of it and rolled over to tag in Dr. Death...Who came in with alot of steam, as Ted Sr. backed away and out of the ring...Williams chased him out and back in, but Dibiase met him with several knees to the head....Ted Sr. kicked and taunted Doc while Doc tried to tag in Hager...The Dibiase's used a few double team moves and eventually Doc ducked a clotheline and hit a running shoulder tackle on Mike and was able to hot tag in Hager slammed all the Dibiase's and was a house of fire...Ted Sr. fell out of the ring and when hager tagged in Wyatt Young...Young climbed the ropes and was pushed off by Ted Sr...from the outside...Mike Dibiase rolled up Young for the 1...2...3.... JR's blog Well were just three weeks in and alot starting to take shape here in Mid South Wrestling.... So this week I decided to compile a list of what I think is the talk of the water cooler thus far. 5. North American tag Team Championship: This title is going to be decided in the forthcoming weeks....Commisioner Bill Watts has been reviewing the applications of teams wanting into the big tournament...thus far, you can see that many of our younger grapplers are forming alliances to try to get into this event...We've seen Terry Ray Gordy & Kenny Doane, Wyatt Young & Jake Hager, Jack Bull & Jay Bradley, Mike & Ted Dibiase all have successful outings and have to be considered... Also more established teams such as The James Boys, Trevor Murdoch & Charlie Haas have forged an alliance could add some veteran stability to this tournament... 4. Dr. Death and Ted Dibiase: This tag team dominated the Mid South Scene in the 80's and for some reason Ted Dibiase has been very stand offish with his former friend and ally...Even Dibiase's sons dont seem to understand what has gotten into their father...Meanwhile Dr. Death isn't backing down...This cancer survivor is determined to leave the business on his own accord and not be forced out by some devastating disease...Doc has been seen working out with fellow Oklahoma U. alumnus Jake Hager...And he with out a doubt could provide an complete understanding to this former Big 12 champion on how to make the transition to the professional rings 3. Michael Hayes: Boy, I'll tell you I love working with the Big Cowboy Bill Watts on Power Pro Wrestling, but he has more important things to take care of in his role as commisioner...I worked with Michael hayes back in the days of the old UWF and then many years in WWE...There is no question that the former leader of The Freebirds will have something to say each and every week on Power Pro Wrestling... 2. Devastation Incorporated: First off Skandor Akbar is 74 years old and secondly, he seems as sick, twisted and demented as ever....Giant Bernard is 6-6 360lbs and physicaly one of the most imposing wrestlers on the planet...Kamala is still big, still a savage and I got to tell you, he's actually kind of fun to watch in this day and age...Now Akbar has added a mysterious masked man to his stable known as The Nightmare....Not to be confused with the early 80's version of The Nightmare in mid south, this man is athletic as he is big....350lbs of aggression is what I see out of Akbar's latest protege...I would have said your crazy, if you told me Devastation Incorporated would be a dominant stable in the year 2007....Well I'm thinking I would have been wrong with that statement 1. Quality wrestlers: Young tag teams, stars from the 80's, Devastation Inc Reunion aside, there is strong talent level in Mid South Wrestling, that can put on quality wrestling matches each and every night..."The Wrestling Machine" Doug Basham, Charlie Haas, Trevor Murdoch, Joey Matthews, Mr.Olympia, "Gunner" Brent Albright, Marcus Cor Von has made his debut...and now word I'm hearing is more and more wrestlers may be on their way...As Mid South Wrestling has begun to find our niche in the world of professional wrestling Until Next time, its been good chattin with you JR

Well in Freebird form...Purely Sexy is the party crasher....I've left a trail of bodies laying in these parts, who better than me is there to talk about it....Not to mention I hear Steve Williams, Skandor Akbar, Bill Watts, Ted Dibiase have been showing up from time to time...Well, if you want legends I'm the biggest name their is daddy....And Versus network get ready to see the ratings take off as Michael Hayes is here to stay... Ross commented on how these two tangled in the debut of Power Pro Wrestling and went to a 15 minute draw and both were apart of a 3 way match last week with Brent Albright....Basham and Olympia gave a scientific battele early.... After every Olympia II counter of Basham, "The Wrestling Machine" would back off to the ropes going into an analytical thought process... Olympia had a counter for every Basham move....JR pointed out that there was certainly something familiar about the style of Olympia II, and he even suggested that Basham is noticing something familiar about him...Basham growing frustrated tried to bring a chair into the ring...Throwing it at Olympia II, who just caught it, opened it up and sat down....Basham started becoming aggressive with the referee...And when the ref, tried to pull Basham off Olympia while they were tied up in the corner...Basham tossed referee Billy Dalton from the ring causing a DQ...Olympia II turned to see if Dalton was alright, when Basham grabbed the chair and blasted Mr. Olympia II several times over the head with a chair....Basham then went after the mask unlacing the strings on the back before Dalton along with a few other referees pulled Basham off.... "Basham left the ring yelling "Who are you?????" "Who are you??" I dont want it ended by cancer.... I'm not looking to make a huge comeback, I just want to be able to put some closure on a career that I couldn't do because of the throat cancer...And with the Mid South revitilization, what better place... JR: You actually look like your in great shape, what do you want to accomplish... Doc: I just want to prove to myself that I can still do it....be a mentor to some of the younger boys in the locker room and maybe just maybe have that one big last match before I hang up the boots for good JR: You talk about being a mentor...Why is that important to you.. Doc: I just want to give back something to the sport that has been great to me... I know I learned alot from guys like Bill Watts and yourself back in the old mid south days...I think I can do the same for some of the young guys JR: We've seen you alot with a few of the young guys Doc: Well Jake Hager is big ol' Sooner himself...He was a big 12 champion in wrestling and having familiar backgrounds, well I guess you can see the connection....Wyatt Young is another throwback type wrestler that reminds me alot of myself..Kenny Doane has a world of talent, so do both The Dibiase kids... JR: Speaking of Dibiase, what is going on with your old tag team partner Ted Dibiase? Doc: JR, I wish I knew... I love his kids, I've known them since they were knee high...They've been great..But Ted just doesn't seem the same...And he hasn't said a word...He just has this look of hatred, of aggression when we've come to face to face...I'd love to know whats bothering him, but if he'd rather just fight, well I can fight with the best of them...Maybe you should 've done this kind of interview with him...and if you do, could you let me know, whats up his @ss, before I end up knocking his head off... JR: Well Doc, its been great chatting with you, good luck to you in your Mid South Wrestling Career.. They use an arsenal of press slams, body slams, clothelines, kicks to the face and bearhugs to wear down the James Boys, who only took the upper hand by cheap means..(Pulling the ropes down, so Bradley would fall over the top or eye raking out of bear hugs or tripping Bull from the apron...The end occurred when Bradley had Cassidy pinned with a lariat, but a good old fashioned Ref knock down, couldn't make the pin...Bradley got up to help the ref and Kasey who was fighting with Bull on the floor rolled in and played possum...When Bradley returned Kasey had a chain wrapped around his fist and knocked Bradley out....Referee Ray Ramsey was still groggy and counted 3 with Kasey being the illegal man for the pinfall...
