Georgia Championship Wrestling Saturday, Week 4, April 1983 James White Civic Coliseum Knoxville, Tennessee Attendance: 4,529 The show began with two seperate videos showcasing the main events of Firestorm. First, Paul Orndorff overcame some serious shoulder pains to nail Larry Zbyszko with a forearm clothesline and win the National Heavyweight Title only to be attacked after the match by Ivan Koloff! ------ The second video showcased the 6 man tag match that was won by the three masked men. The masks came off following the match to reveal them to be: Harley Race, Terry Funk and Greg Valentine and the Kings are born! ------ And then the focus turned to the arena and the podium where Paul Ellering is standing by with the Road Warriors. Paul Ellering Just in case everyone forgot, last night my Road Warriors did what they do best: they beat people up. Buzz Sawyer and Brett Wayne Sawyer can attest to that. Take a look at these two men: you have the brawn in Animal, you have the speed in Hawk and you have the brains in Precious Paul Ellering. And after all is said and done tonight you are going to see those National Tag Team Title belts around our waists. Sorry, Ole and Thunderbolt that we have to take them on your first defense but that's business and you don't mess with the business of the Legion of Doom. ------ vs. Jake Roberts vs. Joe Lightfoot This opening bout was meant as a showcase specifically for Jake Roberts and it worked out very well as Jake Roberts looked very good in his domination of the token Native American. After Jake toyed with him for several minutes, Lightfoot's lights were put out by the DDT of Jake. Winner: Jake Roberts Match Time: 7:53 Match Rating: C- ------ The focus turned down toward the podium where Arn Anderson was standing. Arn Anderson Last night was just part one of my revenge. Larry Zbyszko, you cost me a shot at winning the National Title so I came out to watch you and you got distracted by my presence and lost your shot at the title. But don't think that makes us even because it's far from it. I'm an Anderson and Anderson's don't just get even. They one up their opponents. If you send one of ours to a hospital, we send one of yours to a morgue. Zbyszko, prepare to be one-upped Anderson style. ------ vs. Harley Race vs. Mr. Wrestling II Another match that could main event anywhere in the country. Mr. Wrestling II volunteered for this match, showing that GCW spirit against the Invader. But Race is a wily veteran and a former NWA World Champion. These two had great chemistry in the ring which made for a very good bout that the fans really got into as they rooted against Race and for Wrestling II. But Race used a few cheap manuevers and got Wrestling II in position and dropped him with a Piledriver. Race made the cover and the three count was academic. Winner: Harley Race Match Time: 10:17 Match Rating: B ------ The focus returns to the podium. Gordon Solie Hello wrestling fans. Gordon Solie here for Georgia Championship Wrestling. I have received word that after the attack last evening by Ivan Koloff, Paul Orndorff has agreed to face him at our next big show. And right now we have the Russian Bear Ivan Koloff here. Ivan, you made a strong debut attacking Paul Orndorff last evening. Do you have anything to say for yourself? Ivan Koloff If puny American cannot take little beatdown last evening how does he expect to stay within the ring with the Russian Bear in a regular match? At the end of the month, I, Ivan Koloff, will be wearing that National Heavyweight Title and will turn it into Russian Heavyweight Title. I will be bringing it back to the premier of Russia in a huge victory celebration in my native country, proving once again that Russian athletes are superior to American athletes. Gordon Solie, you stand there and you doubt Russian superiority? Next week, I will show you superior Russian strength in open challenge match against anyone. But Americans beware because Russian Bear will not stop until life is squeezed out of you. ------ vs. Bruno Sammartino, Jr. vs. The Iron Sheik This is a rematch of a round one match between these two in the National Heavyweight Title Tournament. Just as what happened before, the Iron Sheik dominated this match, seemingly angry over what happened last night where he lost to Wildfire Tommy Rich. The Iron Sheik clamped on the Camel Clutch on Sammartino and the italian had no other choice but to give up. Winner: The Iron Sheik Match Time: 8:08 Match Rating: C Following the match, the Iron Sheik took up a microphone. The Iron Sheik Tommy Rich! You may have gotten the best of the Iron Sheik last night but it will not happen again. At the major card at the end of the month I wish to put you out of your misery. One less American here in Georgia Championship Wrestling because I am challenging you to a Loser Leaves Town match! I will prove that Iran #1, Tommy Rich? hak ptooey! ------ vs. GCW National Tag Team Titles Match Ole Anderson and Thunderbolt Patterson defend against the Road Warriors A hard hitting match to continue the trend here as Ole and T-Bolt defend their belts against Paul Ellering's Road Warriors. Would Ellering's words earlier prove to be true? Or would Ole and T-Bolt pick up a victory? The match featured some heavy-hitting as both teams exchanged punches and Ole even pulled out a lariat during this match to get a two count on Animal before Animal powered out of it. The Road Warriors showed their strength and speed when Animal actually press-slammed Thunderbolt Patterson! Ole came in though and knocked Hawk out of the ring coming face to face with Animal. A brawl almost erupted there but Ole was hit from behind by Harley Race, signaling the DQ! Winners: Ole Anderson and Thunderbolt Patterson Match Time: 6:52 Match Rating: D- Following the match, Greg Valentine came down as well and he and Race began brawling with Ole and Thunderbolt! It was a heavy hitting brawl that spilled outside the ring and all the way up into the back room with the crowd cheering on Ole and T-Bolt. ------ The focus returned to the podium as the new National Heavyweight Champion Paul Orndorff and Arn Anderson came out to cheers from the crowd. Paul Orndorff First of all, Arn, I want to thank you for coming to ringside last night to show your support for me. And I am the NEW National Heavyweight Champion! Orndorff held up the title to cheers from the crowd! Arn Anderson Make no mistake about it, Paul, I came out there to get my revenge on Larry Zbyszko. It had nothing to do with you. And once my Anderson business is finished with Zbyszko you better believe I am going to be coming for that title belt. Paul Orndorff I would expect nothing less, Arn. But tonight we have to work together as we take on Zbyszko and Koloff. A truce for now? Paul extends his hand to Arn and after a moment Arn shakes that hand looking down at the gold belt before looking back up to Orndorff, nodding. ------ vs. Tommy Rich vs. Pez Whatley The Candyman Pez Whatley made a good showing for himself within this match with Wildfire Tommy Rich. However it was Rich that mostly dominated the encounter. Pez was a little off his game and Rich took advantage of that, eventually picking up the pinfall following a Bionic Elbow. Winner: Tommy Rich Match Time: 7:43 Match Rating: C Tommy Rich slipped out of the ring and stood ringside where Gordon Solie was waiting for him. Gordon Solie Tommy, an impressive victory tonight and an even more impressive one last night at Firestorm over the Iron Sheik. I don't know if you heard the comments made by the Iron Sheik earlier tonight but he wants to face you in a Loser Leaves Town match. What do you say? Tommy Rich I say...bring it on! Wildfire Tommy Rich has NEVER been one to back away from a challenge. Iron Sheik, you think you can beat me? You think you're tough enough? Bad enough? Well, last night I think I proved who the better wrestler is and at the end of the month you're going to be on the unemployment line courtesy of Wildfire. ------ vs. Larry Zbyszko and Ivan Koloff vs. Paul Orndorff and Arn Anderson Orndorff's first in-ring appearance since winning the belt last night is in tag team action here in the main event. He started things off in the ring with Ivan Koloff and the crowd was on the edge of their seat since Koloff attacked Orndorff just last night. Orndorff walked right up to Koloff and slapped the taste right out of his mouth! He pushed the Russian Bear and then flexed, ducking a right hand and then ducking a left and then sending his own punches into the face of the Russian Bear! He whipped Koloff across the ring and hit a hip toss, sending Koloff to the mat. He quickly dropped an elbow and then hooked on an armbar, focusing on the arm and shoulder of Koloff. He brought the Russian Bear over to the corner and made the tag to Double A. Anderson gave a kick to the gut of Koloff and then turned his focus to the arm once again and maintained the advantage on Koloff until the Russian Bear raked his eyes and made the tag to Zbyszko. The Living Legend came in and whipped Anderson into the corner and then walked over, hitting a few shoulder shots to the gut before quickly tagging back out to the Russian Bear. Koloff focused on the lower back of Anderson for the next several minutes, using backbreakers and dropping knees to the back of the Enforcer. Koloff and Zbyszko tagged in and out, focusing on Anderson. Koloff tried to lift Anderson into a shoulder backbreaker but Anderson slipped through! Koloff turned and ran quickly into a Spinebuster by Anderson! Double A was left down on the mat as well as Koloff! The crowd cheered for Anderson to make the tag! Orndorff stretched his arm out toward the Enforcer ready to get into the ring! Anderson slowly crawled toward the corner but so did Koloff! The Russian Bear tagged in the Living Legend and Anderson leaped, making the tag to Mr. Wonderful! Paul Orndorff came in and clotheslined Zbyszko right out of his boots! Koloff came back in and was press-slammed for his troubles! Orndorff was a house on fire inside the ring to many cheers from the crowd! He lifted Zbyszko and hit a body slam, moving to the turnbuckles and and dropping a forearm across the face from the second turnbuckle on Zbyszko! Anderson came back in and cut off Koloff while Orndorff set Zbyszko up and delievered a devestating Piledriver! He quickly made the cover and hooked the leg 1... 2... 3!!! Paul Orndorff and Arn Anderson win the match! Winners: Paul Orndorff and Arn Anderson Match Time: 10:10 Match Rating: C Following the match, Arn Anderson took the National Heavyweight Title and stared down at it for a moment before handing it to Paul Orndorff and raising his arm in victory as the show went off the air. TV Rating: 2.27 Overall Rating: C

GCW: From Georgia To The World -April was a very tough month monetarily for Georgia Championship Wrestling as we lost a lot of money in the end. Jim Barnett is not very happy with this development and is going to be putting more of a strict leash here. -The debuts of Harley Race, Terry Funk and Greg Valentine were huge surprises and had everyone in the Georgia territory talking. Two former NWA World Heavyweight Champions and the current United States Champion in Georgia? Who would have thought? -Congratulations go out to Paul Orndorff for winning the National Heavyweight Title tournament. But remember Paul it's lonely at the top. -To combat the rising costs, ticket prices have been raised by three dollars. -Stampede Wrestling and Southwest Championship Wrestling have each lost their tv slots. -Larry Zbyszko signed to work with the AWA. He has told us that he will not miss any dates because of that. -AJPW's Puroresu Chukei lost their television slot. -MLW's Ringside Wrestling lost their television slot. -NJPW's World Pro Wrestling lost their television slot.

Georgia Championship Wrestling Saturday, Week 1, May 1983 Boutwell Memorial Auditorium Birmingham, Alabama Attendance: 4,514 vs. Les Thornton vs. Arn Anderson The show kicked off with in-ring action as two great technical wrestlers went one on one. Before Anderson made his entrance, though, Larry Zbyszko came down and joined the commentators. This was a decent technical bout though the crowd within the building didn't seem to care for it and Anderson and Thornton didn't click inside the ring. What made the match was Zbyszko's comments during the match downing Arn Anderson. Anderson picked up the pinfall following the Anderson DDT. Winner: Arn Anderson Match Time: 10:17 Match Rating: D- Anderson celebrated inside the ring while the focus turned toward more insults from Zbyszko. Anderson walked over to the announcer's table and pushed Zbyszko! The Living Legend got up and the two got into a face-off that was broken up by several wrestlers! ------ vs. Jake Roberts vs. Italian Stallion A definite matchup to showcase the talents of Jake The Snake Roberts. Jake is flourishing here in Georgia after leaving the tutelage of Paul Ellering and the Legion of Doom. Jake's performance tonight was definitely seen to be good and he finished off the Italian Stallion with his patented DDT. Winner: Jake Roberts Match Time: 9:35 Match Rating: C- ------ A video began playing showing Tommy Rich standing in front of a GCW background. Tommy Rich Iron Sheik, I hope you're watching this and paying attention because it's drawing closer and closer to that end of the month and the end of your career here in Georgia Championship Wrestling. Why? Because you're going to be facing the Wildfire in a Loser Leaves Town match and I can guarantee you that I will be walking out the winner and the Wildfire never lies. ------ vs. Bob and Brad Armstrong vs. The Great Kabuki and Magic Dragon The Armstrongs began the match hot and strong against Gary Hart's group. Brad Armstrong showed some surprising brawling skills in this match against Kabuki and Dragon. But after some interference from Gary Hart, Kabuki and Dragon dominated the match with Kabuki looking especially good. Kabuki hit the Heart Kick on Brad Armstrong and picked up the pinfall. Winners: The Great Kabuki and Magic Dragon Match Time: 9:55 Match Rating: C- ------ Some graphics were displayed upon the screen showing that several matches will be taking place at the next big show. National Heavyweight Title On The Line Paul Orndorff defends against Ivan Koloff Buzz Sawyer and Brett Wayne vs. The Road Warriors! ------ vs. King Kong Bundy vs. Pez Whatley The Candyman Pez Whatley tried to catch Bundy napping early when Bundy entered the ring but King Kong just pushed him off and to the mat! Bundy dominated Whatley in this match to cheers from the crowd. Bundy did start to tire in this match but he nailed Whatley with an Avalanche in the corner and then a big Slash to get the pinfall! Winner: King Kong Bundy Match Time: 6:54 Match Rating: D- ------ A video began to play showing Terry Funk standing in a locker room. Terry Funk Georgia Championship Wrestling, take a look at me. Take a good look at Terry Funk. I came here with Greg Valentine and Harley Race for one reason and one reason only: destruction. I came here to destroy a member of the National Wrestling Alliance. I am a former NWA Champion but I was never truly given the respect that I deserve as a legend in this business. Terry turns and bangs his head several times against a locker before looking back toward the camera. Terry Funk Stan Hansen, at the next big card here you're going to be the first to be destroyed by Terry Funk. Be prepared to get piledriven through the mat. Jim Barnett, I'm coming for you soon. Terry laughs maniacly as the camera fades out. ------ vs. Larry Zbyszko vs. Ronnie Garvin What a main event here tonight as the Man With The Hands Of Stone gets a chance at revenge against the man who eliminated him in the National Heavyweight Title Tournament the Living Legend Larry Zbyszko. The match began as a quick brawl that Ronnie Garvin got the better of, sending Zbyszko out of the ring to regroup. Referee Ronnie West kept Garvin back as Zbyszko paced outside the ring before sliding back inside. Zbyszko looked to Garvin and held his hand up for a test of strength! Garvin looked to the crowd like Zbyszko is crazy! After a few minutes of posturing, Garvin slipped his fingers into Zbyszko's and used his free hand to stop a kick by Zbyszko, knocking the leg down! Zbyszko cried out in pain as Garvin dropped him down to his knees! Zbyszko shook his head that he wouldn't give up and poked Garvin in the eyes! Zbyszko spent the next few minutes with the advantage, focusing on the arm of Garvin. He wrapped the arm around the ringpost, slamming it into the ringpost itself! Zbyszko stomped on the shoulder, amongst other moves focused on that now-hurt arm of Garvin. Zbyszko dropped a knee on the shoulder and then made a cover... 1... 2... Kickout! Ronnie Garvin kicked out of the pinfall there and Zbyszko got upset, pushing the referee! Referee Ronnie West pushed him back and Ronnie Garvin rolled him up: 1...2...3!! No, wait, only 2! Zbyszko somehow kicked out before the three count. And he went right back to the arm of Ronnie Garvin with an armbar but Garvin quickly pushed to his feet and used his free hand to grab Zbyszko's hair and bring him back in the corner. Garvin laid a fist into Zbyszko, breaking the hold with that hand of stone! The crowd cheered as Garvin started getting back into the match, suplexing Zbyszko and floating over for a 2 count! Garvin got the crowd into it but held his arm close to himself. Garvin wound up a punch but Zbyszko ducked it and locked on a Guillotine Choke! Garvin tried to fight and fight and fight but eventually his lights went out and referee Ronnie West called for the bell. Winner: Larry Zbyszko Match Time: 14:55 Match Rating: C- Following the match, Zbyszko wouldn't release the choke and out came Double A Arn Anderson! Zbyszko saw him and released the hold, waiting for Anderson to get into the ring! When Anderson slid in, the brawl erupted between the two with Gordon Solie telling the crowd that we're out of time! We'll see you next week! BE THERE! TV Rating: 1.96 Overall Rating: C-

He's been seen in some secret discussions with Stan Hansen, Funk's opponent at the big show. -Tim Horner re-signed with us. We are very happy to be keeping this fine, young wrestler.
Buzz Sawyer and Brett Wayne vs. The Road Warriors!
Woooo! :) I was lucky enough to catch this match back in the day. The Sawyers won the titles, but it was never even acknowledged on television - heh. Turns out the Sawyers beat the Warriors just about every night on that particular tour. Either Gordon Solie was really drunk and just forgot to tell the t.v. viewers - or Ole lazily pulled a swerve in the booking. Regardless, it was a great match. :)

Starbuck got in a few shots early but this match was mostly Zbyszko, a show-case for his talents. And Starbuck proved to be an opponent that made the Living Legend look good in the ring. Zbyszko scored a pinfall with a Shoulder Breaker. Winner: Larry Zbyszko Match Time: 8:29 Match Rating: D+ ------ A video begins to play, showing Buzz Sawyer and his brother Brett Wayne talking. Buzz Sawyer Alright little brother. At the big card it's you and me against the Road Warriors. I'm not saying it's going to be easy but I know that you and I can take them. Do you understand me? Brett Wayne Yes, I do. You're gonna bring out the Mad Dog in me! Ruff! Ruff! Buzz Sawyer The kid is getting it. The Road Warriors hit the ring and it was stick and move for Horner and Armstrong. They used quick tags early and kept the Road Warriors off their game for the beginning of the match. The crowd seemed shocked by this but quickly got behind the scrappy tag team. Brad Armstrong went up top while Animal was down and leapt with a flying body press - caught! Animal caught him and just flung him over his head to the mat! Paul Ellering looked happy as the Road Warriors began their domination on Armstrong, ending with the Doomsday Device and a pinfall by Animal. Winners: The Road Warriors Match Time: 6:53 Match Rating: D+ ------ A video began to play with Paul Orndorff standing in front of a GCW background with the National Heavyweight Title around his waist. Paul Orndorff Take a look at my face, Ivan Koloff. Take a look at my body. Do you think I fear you? I wear expensive clothes. I have a house on the big side of town and do you know why? Because I'm Mr. Wonderful and the National Heavyweight Champion. You can do all your talking about Russia against the United States when we all know that the United States is a better country, otherwise you would have stayed in Russia. But the marquee says professional wrestling. And that is what I am the best at and this belt right here proves it. You want to say you're the best? Then come and stand with Mr. Wonderful. ------ vs. Jake Roberts vs. Arn Anderson As Jake Roberts came out, Larry Zbyszko walked from the back and sat down at the announcer's booth, proclaiming he is going to be doing commentary on this match. And then Arn Anderson walked out to some cheers from the crowd, taking on the hated Jake 'The Snake' Roberts. This match could quite possibly have been the main event as it was a very good match between these two athletes. Larry Zbyszko spent much of the match downing Arn Anderson, especially when he had the advantage. Roberts looked good during the bout, getting several near-fall pins on Anderson. Late in the bout, Anderson went by the ropes and was yelling at Larry Zbyszko, distracting him from his opponent. Jake tried to run up from behind but Anderson ducked him! He backed up a few steps and Jake came running again...right into a Spinebuster! Anderson floated over and got the 1-2-3! Winner: Arn Anderson Match Time: 12:59 Match Rating: C Anderson celebrated in the ring for a moment, running his thumb across his throat and pointing down at the fallen body of Jake Roberts before he slid out of the ring and approached Larry Zbyszko! The two got into an exchange of words without a microphone there and some pushing and shoving went on before Anderson returned to the ring, making motions with his hand, challenging Zbyszko to get into the ring with him! As Zbyszko moved toward the ring, several wrestlers came from the back to break it up, keeping the two from making contact with each other in the ring. ------ vs. Terry Funk vs. Randy Barber Terry Funk came out as crazy as ever and Randy Barber never really knew what hit him. Funk mostly played with Barber, showing his dominance over him and looking excellent in the process. When Funk thought his opponent had had enough he pulled him in for a Texas Piledriver and then got the pinfall victory. Winner: Terry Funk Match Time: 9:31 Match Rating: C ------ Ole Anderson and Thunderbolt Patterson are shown standing in front of the GCW background. Ole Anderson Harley Race, Greg Valentine, the two of you better listen and listen good. Thunderbolt and I are the National Tag Team Champions. That means a lot in this industry and we had to beat Jake Roberts and the Spoiler to get them. Two very tough competitors in this business. Harley, you want to live on that legend status? Well, you can live off your past accomplishments all you want. We're looking to the present and the future and that is these National Tag Team Title belts. If you want them then come and take them at the big show. We'll be waiting for you. ------ vs. Stan Hansen vs. The Spoiler Paul Ellering led the Spoiler down to the ring for this main event contest against Stan The Lariat Hansen. The crowd was into this one from the get-go as the wild man from Borger Texas dominated the early-goings, much to the chagrin of the Spoiler and Paul Ellering. Ellering and the Spoiler regrouped outside the ring and then the Spoiler headed back in, immediately taking an advantage on Hansen and spending the middle part of the match with the advantage, focusing on the shoulder of Stan Hansen. The hits took their toll on the Lariat, hurting that arm which he uses to perform his devestating finisher. Terry Funk came down to ringside, taunting Hansen at times and distracting him from The Spoiler. Paul Ellering kept his distance from Funk, seemingly wanting nothing to do with him. Hansen began a short comeback but it was short-lived by interference from Terry Funk. This set up The Spoiler to do that tightrope walk and nail the Clawhold on Hansen! He brought Hansen down to the mat and got the big upset pinfall! Winner: The Spoiler Match Time: 14:58 Match Rating: B- The Spoiler and Ellering quickly left the ringside area as Terry Funk came in with a chair and slammed it down on Hansen's arm! Funk was a wildman in the ring, lifting Hansen and dropping him with a Piledriver before standing over him as the show came to a close. TV Rating: 2.10 Overall Rating: C+

Georgia Championship Wrestling Saturday, Week 3, May 1983 Viking Hall Bristol, Tennessee Attendance: 4,253 The show opens up down by the podium and instead of Gordon Solie or Freddy Miller, it's Ivan Koloff standing alone. Ivan Koloff Paul Orndorff, National Heavyweight Champion, you have less than one week to go until you give that belt to a better competitor in Russian Bear Ivan Koloff. Tonight, you take on United States' best in United States Heavyweight Champion Greg Valentine but in less than a week you take on bigger, stronger, tougher Russian best Ivan Koloff. You think you can hold on to that title belt? HA! I will take title home to Mother Russia and there is nothing you can do to stop me, Mr. Wonderful. ------ vs. Stan Lane vs. Robert Gibson One half of the Midnight Express take on one half of the Rock and Roll Express in this matchup as Stan Lane takes on Robert Gibson. Lane, of course, is accompanied to the ring by manager James E. Cornette. This is actually a pretty good bout with two skilled wrestlers. The crowd is slightly into it as the match goes back and forth until a tennis racket shot from Cornette knocks the lights out of Robert Gibson and Stan Lane picks up the pinfall. Winner: Stan Lane Match Time: 6:31 Match Rating: D+ Following the match, Bobby Eaton comes out and meets Lane and Cornette at the podium. Jim Cornette Everyone here in Tennessee has just seen how good Sweet Stan Lane here is by himself. Think of how good he is in this ring with his partner Beautiful Bobby Eaton here. Now I know that the collective IQ here in Bristol is only about 142 for the whole city but even though you people are stupid even you have to understand that you're seeing greatness whenever you see the Midnight Express come out. Tonight Stan Lane proved once again just who the man is and who the boys are. We've got an open contract here in Georgia Championship Wrestling meaning if anyone wants to take us on then we're going to be right in it. Now, let's go celebrate another day of being the Midnight Express gentlemen. ------ vs. Arn Anderson vs. Ivan Koloff Both of these men have big days coming up in less than a week as Arn Anderson takes on Larry Zbyszko and Ivan Koloff takes on the National Heavyweight Champion Paul Orndorff. Inside the ring, their minds seemed to be occupied with other things because they didn't seem to click in their wrestling styles. Koloff focused his attention on the back of Double A, holding the advantage in the early-goings of the contest. The crowd backed Anderson with chants of 'U.S.A., U.S.A.' This semi-distracted Koloff during the match as he waved his arms at the crowd angrily when Anderson was down. Koloff stepped on Anderson's neck, pushing him down into the mat while referee Scrappy McGowen tried to get him to break the hold. Koloff intimidated the referee and then turned back to Anderson, who leveled him with a punch to the gut! Anderson fought to a knee, punching Koloff back until he could get to his feet! At this point in the match as Anderson started gaining more and more momentum out from the back came the Living Legend Larry Zbyszko! Zbyszko looked ****y as the crowd booed him and he stood at ringside. Anderson body slammed Koloff and then went over, yelling and lunging for Zbyszko, who took a step backward to keep out of arm's range. Koloff slowly got to his feet and charged Anderson, knocking him out of the ring in the process and Zbyszko raised his arms as he stood over Anderson. Koloff looked down at him and then distracted the referee! Zbyszko picked up Anderson and rammed his back into the ringpost! Zbyszko smiled as he tossed Anderson back into the ring. Koloff picked him up and locked in the Bear Hug! The crowd booed and chanted 'U.S.A., U.S.A.' as they tried to get the Enforcer to break the hold and Anderson stayed in as long as he could but he finally did have to give up to fight another day. Winner: Ivan Koloff Match Time: 12:43 Match Rating: C- ----- A video begins to play... 'I am Iron Man' The familiar strands to 'Iron Man' by Black Sabbath begin to play for several moments to a black screen before fading in to the Road Warriors and Paul Ellering standing side-by-side in a locker room. Road Warrior Animal Take a look and feast your eyes upon the two biggest, baddest men walking the face of the stinking planet. Buzz Sawyer? Brett Wayne? Who are these two idiots, anyway? Do they really think they have what it takes to match up against the Legion of Doom? Buzz, you made the ultimate mistake when you left the Legion. You left yourself wide open to getting your ass kicked day in and day out and that's exactly what we're going to do to you next week. Tell 'em Hawk! Road Warrior Hawk Weeeellllll, guys take a look at myself and my partner. We're not your average joes walking down the block. We're a little different. We are the ones that dominate the ranks. Forget Ole Anderson and Thunderbolt Patterson, forget the Rock and Roll Express and especially try and forget Buzz Sawyer and Brett Wayne. Those two pukes are nothing compared to the Road Warriors. The only way the two of you can beat Animal and myself is if you had a gun. Tell 'em Paul! Paul Ellering It goes like this, really. You've got power, you've got speed and you've got brains right here. The Legion of Doom is obviously the most perfect package within Georgia Championship Wrestling. Buzz, I know a lot about you. You're the type of guy who reads the afternoon comics while I'm the type of guy who reads Wall Street Journal. Next week, the Road Warriors aren't just going to beat you and your brother, we are going to outsmart you as well. And you can take that to the bank. ------ vs. Buzz Sawyer and Brett Wayne vs. Pat Rose and Pez Whatley Just a little bit of a warm-up match for the two brothers as they head into their battle with the Road Warriors next week. Buzz was the legal man for most of this match and the Mad Dog dominated Rose and Whatley for the most part. He tagged his brother in a couple of times to get a few shots in on Rose and Whatley and then he was back in to finish the job. Buzz got the pinfall on Rose following a Running Powerslam! Winners: Buzz Sawyer and Brett Wayne Match Time: 7:55 Match Rating: D- ------ Another video begins to play. This one has the Iron Sheik standing before a locker room. He begins by speaking another language that no one seems to understand and then finally gets into english. The Iron Sheik Tommy Rich, I am going to speak so that you can understand me. Next week, I am going to prove that your win was just a fluke and send you packing out of Georgia Championship Wrestling. It should not be that hard in all honesty since I only slipped on banana peeling last time you beat me. I will prove to you and to Georgia that Iranian wrestlers are #1! Tommy Rich? And the Sheik spits on the floor as the cameras fade out. ------ vs. Bob Armstrong vs. Larry Zbyszko Zbyszko came out looking very proud and confident within himself after his attack on Arn Anderson earlier. He took Bob Armstrong too lightly in the early-going and it nearly cost him a victory but he was able to kickout of a roll-up at a two count and then settled down to business. He choked Armstrong against the ropes and then went bouncing off and landed his full body weight on Armstrong. The crowd cheered for Bullet Bob during this match, trying to pull him into it and Armstrong did gain an advantage for awhile there but it was thwarted by a mistimed avalanche in the corner and Zbyszko locked in that Guillotine Choke, holding onto it for the submission victory over Bob Armstrong in a hard-fought bout. Winner: Larry Zbyszko Match Time: 10:09 Match Rating: C- Following the match, Larry Zbyszko requested and was given a microphone in the ring. Larry Zbyszko I know that most of you people down south here in Bristol, Tennessee don't speak english very well. Most of you speak redneck fluently. So tonight I'll try not to use any big words that might throw you off and I'll try to speak very slowly so that you can understand exactly what I am saying. You all saw here tonight what happened to Arn Anderson and his back. Ivan Koloff squeezed the life out of him with that Bear Hug and I just got finished with a match against Bob Armstrong where I was actually victorious unlike Arn Anderson. And even though I just got finished wrestling myself I say that we don't wait until next week. Arn Anderson, if you've got any guts inside that body of yours, you'll come out here and face me right here and now! Zbyszko stands there waiting for a few moments with that arrogant look on his face and there isn't an Anderson showing up! Larry Zbyszko That's what I thought, Arn Anderson. You're nothing but talk. You've got no guts inside that body. Just hollow inside! But the crowd cheers as Arn Anderson walks out from the back! He's holding his back but moving to the ring as quickly as he can! He slides inside and Zbyszko immediately knees him in the back before he can get up! The Living Legend stomps on Anderson's back and then turns him over, leveling punches to Anderson's face but the Enforcer strikes back from the bottom! The Living Legend's eyes grow wide as Anderson fights back up and Zbyszko slides out of the ring. Anderson gives chase and the two men head up the ramp and out of sight! ------ vs. Non-Title Match National Heavyweight Champion Paul Orndorff vs. United States Heavyweight Champion Greg Valentine And it's main event time and what a main event we have for you tonight as Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff takes on the Hammer Greg Valentine. We pick up the match several minutes into the contest with Valentine at the advantage. The Hammer has been focusing on the leg of Orndorff during the first several minutes. Everyone knows where that leads and that is to the Figure 4 Leglock. The Hammer drops an elbow down on the leg and begins stretching it out. He works a kneebar in and begins using several different restholds focused on the leg throughout the next several minutes while Orndorff howls in pain. The crowd is solidly behind the National Heavyweight Champion though and both gold belts are there at ringside for everyone to see. Inside the ring, Valentine has knocked Orndorff into a corner and lays a few shoulders to the gut before backing up into the opposite corner and charging! Orndorff ducks out of the way and Valentine hits the corner hard! He gets turned around and Orndorff lays into him with punches! Mr. Wonderful climbs the turnbuckles and begins laying more punches against the Hammer while the crowd counts along: 1..2..3......all the way up to 10 before Orndorff drops down and Valentine slowly withers to the mat! Orndorff is favoring that leg as he drops an elbow to the back of Valentine and then lifts him up, hooking him and landing a vertical suplay! He floats over on the Hammer: 1... 2... Kickout! Somehow the Hammer got his shoulder up! Orndorff grabs the Hammer and Valentine tosses Orndorff out of the ring, catching a breather in the process. Orndorff is quickly up and back in the ring and back on the advantage on Valentine. Mr. Wonderful sets him up for a Piledriver and then sees Ivan Koloff standing by the top of the ramp! Orndorff looks out at him while Koloff makes the 'belt' motion around his waist! Valentine slowly gets up behind Orndorff and comes at him but Orndorff ducks down to avoid a clothesline! Orndorff grabs Valentine and whips him across, coming back at Valentine with a sharp, crisp Forearm Clothesline! He makes the cover as Ivan Koloff charges toward the ring: 1... 2... 3!!! Winner: Paul Orndorff Match Time: 14:55 Match Rating: B Ivan Koloff slides into the ring and immediately stomps on Orndorff! Koloff picks up the winded Paul Orndorff and locks in the Bear Hug! He swings Mr. Wonderful around while the crowd chants 'U.S.A, U.S.A.' trying to get Orndorff to fight it and Mr. Wonderful struggles there, using his strength! Koloff's eyes go wide as he realizes he doesn't have it quite cinched on tight enough! Orndorff boxes the ears of Koloff several times as Koloff backs toward the ropes with the Bear Hug intact! Orndorff slowly powers out of the hold, breaking the grip of Ivan Koloff! Orndorff takes a step back and Forearm Clotheslines Ivan Koloff over the top rope! Mr. Wonderful stands tall in the ring with a wide-eyed Ivan Koloff looking up at him! Orndorff is handed the National Heavyweight Title belt and the crowd cheers wildly as the show comes to a close.
