WCW Cruiserweight Championship: Psicosis (c) v Ultimo Dragon Psicosis has been having some great matches and it continues here against Ultimo Dragon with another victory. 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan and Curry Man v Latin Passion (Juventud Guerrera and Hector Garza) A tough match to call but nostalgia says that good ole Hacksaw gets the win. USA! USA! 'The Master of the Diamond Cutter' Diamond Dallas Page v Disco Inferno It's me, it's me, it's D D P! Rey Mysterio Jr and Chavo Guerrero Jr v West Hollywood Blondes (Lenny Lane and Lodi) The two high flyers are too much for the Blondes. Though I can also see Chavo turning on Rey during or after the match. WCW Television Championship: 'Your Olympic Hero' Kurt Angle (c) v 'The Man of 1000 Holds' Dean Malenko A tough one to decide and when in doubt pick the Horsemen, right? Right time for Angle to drop the belt and move up in the cards for a great feud with Benoit. WCW Tag Team Championships Contenders Four Corners Match: Los Vengadores ('The Chairman of WCW' La Parka and Lizmark Jr) v 'The British Bulldog' Davey Boy Smith and Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart v The Steiner Brothers v The British Connection ('Lord' Steven Regal and 'The Belfast Bruiser' Fit Finlay) A lot of good choices here and I am going with a bit of an underdog pick. But they have the most tag experience and I am a huge fan of the old Steiner Brothers team. Bret 'The Hitman' Hart v Curry Man Is Curry Man wrestling twice here? Once here and once in the tag match with Hacksaw? If so, easy win for the Hitman. I could also see someone else wearing the outfit and picking up the win over the Hitman only to demask afterward.

Sorry I've not been much of a leaver of feedback lately buddy but I've just been realyl busy. I have kept up to date and I'm still loving this diary. It amazes me how accurate your writing is for the time period and company you are writing for, you've had a couple of great matches and I love the celebrity star rating system! Only you could do it, but I love it. WCW Cruiserweight Championship: Psicosis (c) v Ultimo Dragon Keep the belt on him for the time being 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan and Curry Man v Latin Passion (Juventud Guerrera and Hector Garza) A more useful and more regular team 'The Master of the Diamond Cutter' Diamond Dallas Page v Disco Inferno You know that I love me some disco, but DDP is the only winner here Rey Mysterio Jr and Chavo Guerrero Jr v West Hollywood Blondes (Lenny Lane and Lodi) Lenny & Lodi are what they are, but Rey and Chavo are vital to the company and I'm sure you've got huge plans to build Chavo like you have Rey Rey WCW Television Championship: 'Your Olympic Hero' Kurt Angle (c) v 'The Man of 1000 Holds' Dean Malenko Personally, I'm still not sure on Angle because it feels a bit early to have him doing this much on your shows when you think he was still green when he debuted in the Fed over a year later than where you are, but putting that aside Deano doesn't need the win like Kurt does WCW Tag Team Championships Contenders Four Corners Match: Los Vengadores ('The Chairman of WCW' La Parka and Lizmark Jr) v 'The British Bulldog' Davey Boy Smith and Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart v The Steiner Brothers v The British Connection ('Lord' Steven Regal and 'The Belfast Bruiser' Fit Finlay) Anyone could win it really, but Steiner's are the most developed team Bret 'The Hitman' Hart v Curry Man What? Why is Curry Man wrestling twice? Either way, Bret to win

Heh, quite obviously when I wrote up the tips I made an error in recording Curry Man twice... it's actually meant to be Curt Hennig, but, evolve as I have to I will add a twist that gets that match going. Sorry about that folks, I must admit the couple of times I checked the thread in the mean time and it was mentioned I thought well this was a tad bit weird, but alas it was a typo of epic proportions.

Speaking of 1998, well, it was a meritorious year. It was the year that Jericho defeated mini-Goldberg (repeatedly), the year Thunder debuted, it was the year the Horsemen reunited with the return of the Nature Boy, 1998 had everything from Jay Leno to Karl Malone to Dennis Rodman. Well, I guess it would nice, if I could touch your body, I know not everybody, has got a body like you.... Hmmm, what am I getting at? Ever been caught with your trousers down by the cops? George Michael achieved it in 1998. Apparently that nice young man whom all our mums wanted to have bone them was more interested in your father... What a shock for the year of 1998, and all you Wham-ites. In commemoration of George following in the footsteps of Boy George with one too many careless whispers, tonight's Celeb-O-Meter is...
Backstage, at the top of the show, the Four Horsemen exit a white limousine. The 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair is escorted by a pretty young brunette, as he walks arm in arm into the arena. As the Horsemen walk in looking fine as ever, Flair proclaims... "Tonight, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, tonight by god the Horsemen are going to party all night long... Dean Malenko, tonight you become a Champion again! Let the games... BEGIN!" ---------- We cut to a pre-recorded interview conducted by 'Mean' Gene Okerlund with the 'Total Package' Lex Luger. Luger is dressed in a skin hugging tight shirt, showing off all his definitions. Pity about the head, but otherwise he's a sharp dressed cat. "Lex Luger, I thank you for your time this evening," Okerlund begins. "No problems, Gene." "If I could, I'd like to take you back to the year of 1997. It was a year that should have been truly great for you. Perhaps the year that you truly broke out and became a major player in professional wrestling. Of course, I speak of two moments in particular. Firstly, that night at Uncensored 1997. That night, in a Team WCW v Team Piper v Team nWo spectacular, the New World Order won the right to challenge for any Championship at any given time. But, you never stopped all that. With the odds stacked firmly against you, with the nWo in one corner, and just yourself remaining, you managed to rack and remove Randy Savage, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, leaving just Hogan. You were on an incredible momentum ride. And just as Hogan cowered, Randy Savage re-entered the ring and sprayed the black spray paint in your eyes, rendering you visionless, and susceptible to Hogan's Leg-Drop..." "You tell it so well, Gene. You bring back a lot of hard memories. It was the moment I truly began to hate the New World Order. That particular period of my life was extraordinarily difficult, Gene. The year before, the whole WCW locker room was not just shocked by the actions of the New World Order, but my personally, I felt I'd lost my best friend in Sting, who had of course we all thought turned to the dark side. Deceit began to fill my own mind Gene, and by the time Uncensored 1997 came around, we waited for an answer. That night we got it, Sting came down and destroyed the New World Order. But still, the damage was done, they could challenge for the Championship anytime they wanted...." "Some would label it a travesty, but it highlighted to the world your own power, Lex. Singlehandedly you had beaten the New World Order. It took an act of cowardice to change that..." "And on August the 7th, you won the greatest prize of them all. You defeated Hollywood Hogan for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. How did you feel, having beaten the main soul destroyer of the New World Order?" "Gene, it was a momentous moment. But as you can remember, short lived. Little did I know, in under a week that title would be snatched away from me at Sturgis at Road Wild." "Which brings us to the Bash at the Beach. In 1996, you were in the match where we found out who the infamous third Outsider was, and the intention of the New World Order. You were carried out of course on a stretcher. All of this leads me to ask, you must have a lot of unfinished business with the New World Order?" "Gene, as I look around our locker room, I see a lot of guys who have had their lives affected by the New World Order. But I really doubt anyone has had their lives changed as much as me. Everything I have stood for they have dismantled systematically. They have changed my life for the worse. It places a fire in my soul so deep that makes me want to put the Torture Rack on Chris Jericho, and bring back the Championship to WCW. I want that Sting style moment, where we all flooded the ring. The partying that night was incredible, we had back the Championship. When alls said and done Gene, there's nothing more important in this sport. And come the Great American Bash, I will giving my heart and soul to ensure that all the vengeance I feel in my heart of hearts comes out, and Chris Jericho, let me assure you pal, after watching you cheat the Giant out as you did, after I myself have been cheated out, it won't happen again. Because at the Great American Bash Jericho, I'm coming to get ya!" ----------
WCW Cruiserweight Championship Psicosis (c) v Ultimo Dragon Another classic to start off Thursday Thunder. Psicosis just keeps getting better and better, the fans of the US are starting to see what the fans south of the border had so long discussed and loved. Tonight was a real cracker, a very open match with many near falls each way. You could almost sense Psicosis was somewhat panicing, as if he saw his Championship slipping from his grasp. Psicosis was on the outside when Ultimo Dragon hit an amazing Asai Moonsault, and Psicosis went hard into the guardrails. The referee kept counting, but Psicosis grabbed at his head feigning injury and refused to come back, thus holding onto the Championshp. Result: Your winner, Ultimo Dragon, but Psicosis retains due to a count out ruling
In the ring, the Ultimo Dragon beckons his index finger to Psicosis. He even opens the middle steel cable rope, allowing a saloon passage entry for Psicosis. But Psicosis has none of it, and quickly grabs his belt and retreats to the safety of the dressing rooms. Backstage, as Eric Bischoff walked from the Production Truck back into the arena, he ran into Bill Goldberg. Goldberg was dressed to the nines in typical Four Horsemen social attire, and as he peeled back his Ray Bahn sunglasses and stared menancingly at Bischoff, the nWo catalyst gulped. Goldberg leant down further, and stared even more painfully into Bischoff's deceitful eyes. "Where is he, Eric?" "Who?" "You know who, Holl.." "Hey! Hey! That name is NOT to be mentioned on my broadcast..." "Your broadcast? I'm fairly sure we're taking over, Eric. In fact, I'm fairly sure that Ric Flair is making sure... YOU'RE NEXT!" Bischoff gulps as Goldberg chuckles and walks off.
'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan and Curry Man v Latin Passion (Juventud Guerrera and Hector Garza) The commentators mentioned that later tonight, Curry Man had a second match, winning a random opportunity to take on the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be, Bret 'The Hitman' Hart. In truth, this was a good match, only let down by the spots that Duggan had to work. It was noticeable seeing slick fast spots transfer down to slow, terrible spots by Duggan. Eventually though, Juventud Guerrera was able to hit a thunderous Tornado DDT on the veteran to get the pinfall. Result: Your winners, Latin Passion
Post match, as Curry Man checked on the health of the legendary Duggan, Konnan and Curt Hennig grabbed Curry Man from behind in surprise, and Hennig swung a steel chair at the head of Curry Man as Konnan held him prone. After delivering the savage blow, Hennig grabbed the microphone from David Penzer. "I am what I say I am, and that was perf.." Konnan interrupts him, and takes the microphone from him. "You can't say that, holmes. ORA LE! ARIBA LA RAZA! Tampa Florida, are you ready to get bawdy bawdy and..." Rawdy Rawdy! "Oh yeah..." Hennig grabs the microphone back from him. "As I was say, Bret Hart, you thought you had Curry Man tonight. A rookie. A green novice. Well guess what... I've gone and changed all that. I still have a lot of vengeance for you Bret, we've been up and down that aisle on so many occasions, and through it all you've had nothing but respect for me. But Bret, I have nothing but contempt for you. And yet it comes to this situation Bret, where it almost appears like you're hanging on the coat tails of the New World Order these past few weeks. And I'm not sure I like that Bret, because pal, you haven't deserved it. You are nothing, pal, just like your dad. My father taught your father many lessons which your old man took and traded back to the inuits in the igloos from up where you come from. News travels slow up there Bret, but now with cable, even your fellow igloo friends will find out for real who the better wrestling family is, was, and always will be. I am what I say I am Bret, and tonight, I show you up for the myth you are..." Hennig slams the microphone to the ground, you know, he slammed a steel chair over Curry Man's head and still at no time did he lose the sweat towel off his shoulder or the chewing gum frolm his mouth. ---- After the break, we cut to a video package of 'Lionheart' Chris Jericho, the current WCW World Heavyweight Champion.

We review some of his great feuds here in WCW, from Sting, to Rey Mysterio Jr
We get some commentary on the status of the Jerichaholics
We got footage from his some of his title defences
And some footage of him hob-knobbing with several small time Canadian TV show sets
As we come back from the video package, we see Raven exiting the office of Eric Bischoff. He has in his hand a folded up piece of paper, and a smile on his face. What on earth is Raven up to?
'The Master of the Diamond Cutter' Diamond Dallas Page v Disco Inferno Disco Inferno is a hell of a wrestler, but he needs to seriously get focussed if he's going to get anywhere in his career. As opposed to Diamond Dallas Page, a gritty performer who continues to get better week by week. Tonight was no different, ending Disco off with the Diamond Cutter. Result: Your winner, Diamond Dallas Page
The Thunder commentators for the evening, 'Professor' Mike Tenay, 'Stagger' Lee Marshall (dribbler) and Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan discuss the challenge of Curt Hennig to Bret Hart a bit further. Heenan says he has noticed Bret Hart hanging around the New World Order a lot more and says he thinks the reason Bret Hart doesn't trust Sting is because no one can trust Bret Hart in return, Sting included.
Rey Mysterio Jr and Chavo Guerrero Jr v West Hollywood Blondes (Lenny Lane and Lodi) A quick paced match, but ultimately a showcase of the exceptional skills of Rey and Chavo, with Rey ending the match with a Springboard Hurricanrana on Lodi for the pinfall. Result: Your winners, Rey Mysterio Jr and Chavo Guerrero JR
After the break, the ring is set up with the tartan ring tapestry of 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper, and he stands in the ring complete with kilt. In the ring with him are three old school stools. "Aha... Welcome to another edition of Pipers Den. Just when you thought you know the answers, I change the questions. Tonights guest, please welcome them... The Outsiders!" The New World Order music plays out across the arena, as the Outsiders walk aloofly to the ring. Once in the ring, Hall takes the tooth pick and flicks it in the face of Piper who looks rattled, but shakes it off. "You.. Chico, you're a punk," Hall starts off with. "You should be grateful we're agreeing to do your show... Kev?" "Big Sexy in DA HOUSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEE! Scott's right Roddy, you see, when you have the Outsiders on your show it's.... TOOOOOOOOOO SWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTT..." "I'll suppose you want to take a little survey?" Piper asks Hall. "Chico, of course I wou.." "I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU WANT TO DO! AHA! You know why? Because just when you think you've figured out the answer, I've changed the question. The survey was so 1997 Scott, get with the times pal. Now, I want to know about this situation between Scott Norton, Brian Adams and yourselves. It seems clear to me that this may be the beginning of the end of the New World Order. You've had 'Macho Man' Randy Savage walk out on you, 'Hollywood' Hulk Ho... Ahh, I'm sorry, can't say that name, he's gone AWOL. It doesn't leave much to the imagination to say there's trouble in nWo central...." "Chico, you think you know it all, don't you? You think you've got us all figured out. Well it's 1998, we've been here 2 years raising hell and nobodies got in our way. Anytime anyone gets in our way, we sort them out. And that includes Norton and Adams. Should we be scared of them?..." Just then Piper begins smiling, standing right behind the Outsiders are Scott 'Flash' Norton and Brian Adams. Hall and Nash look at each other nervously and turn around, only to cop stiff arm clotheslines over the top rope from Norton and Adams. Nash and Hall quickly get back to their feet, stumbling as they might be, and start heading towards the back. "Ya hear that Hall, as soon as you thought you knew the answers on my show pal, I go any change the question! Aha!"
WCW Television Championship 'Your Olympic Hero' Kurt Angle (c) v 'The Man of 1000 Holds' Dean Malenko An epic bout. One of the best in the short history of Thunder. Angle still suffers from a few issues in the ring, his psychology certainly isn't at the standard of a superior star like Malenko, and I think it started to show in this match. As much as Malenko wanted to keep the pace down and draw the fans in with intrigue, Angle wasn't quite on the same page. Despite that though, Angle can certainly wrestle, some of his basic holds are quite good. What we got drawn into mostly was a mat based match, with the ultimate technician Dean Malenko seemingly having a comeback for everything. It was really backwards and forth stuff as both wrestlers tried to assert dominance, but the other usually had a pivotal comeback manouver to regain an even keel. Angle began to panic wondering how on earth he could get the win, so he headed to the outside, and as he did Masahiro Chono blindsided him from the crowd with a dazzling kick to the head. With Malenko and referee Charles Robinson unsighted, Chono rolled Angle back into the ring. Malenko slowly and methodically went back to work, and with Angle basically limp was able to finish this one off with the Texas Cloverleaf. Malenko is your new Champion! Result: Via submission, and NEW WCW Television Champion, Dean Malenko
Post match, as 'The Man of 1000 Holds' Dean Malenko held his arms up in joyous celebrations, the slow methodical latino music of Eddie Guerrero began. The super Mexican superstar stood under the Turner-Tron, as the crowd booed vociferiously for him. "Esse, holmes, don't listen to these people, amigo. I'm like your papi, man. We've gone down the aisle so many times, we've driven down the highway so often, esse. Your father and my older brother man, ... the Malenko's and Guerrero's are like neighbours from another part of the world, holmes. You know what I want, amigo, I want people to see you as the great Champion you are. And in order to do that holmes, they need to see you against another great wrestler. So how about it holmes, do you want to be the ultimate Four Horsemen, do you want to be the new legend of this ring... If so, you know where I am, amigo..." Malenko looks on, seemingly interested by Guerrero's words. 'Stagger' Lee Marshall tells the TV world that it is the ideals of the Four Horsemen to be a fighting Champion, and this may incite a true Horsemen like Malenko to go for the jugular against a great wrestler like Guerrero. You figure? Wow, what an Einstein, thanks Larr.. I mean Les, Lee, whatever.
WCW World Tag Team Championships #1 Contenders Match Los Vengadores ('The Chairman of WCW' La Parka and Lizmark Jr) v British Connection ('Lord' Steven Regal and 'The Belfast Bruiser' Fit Finlay) v 'British Bulldog' Davey Boy Smith and Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart v The Steiner Brothers A frenetic four corners match, every team seemed to have pinning predicament opportunities, it perhaps highlighted the diversity and strength of the WCW tag team division. As much as Harlem Heat has slammed the division, this division is right now at its apex. Well, at least in the recent past contexts. This match really became a lottery, which team could successfully his their finisher first and hope that their partner either clotheslined out a would be assailant saviour or get the pinfall quick enough that the would be assailant saviour just could not get there? The answer was decided when Lizmark Jr was hit with a Running Powerslam by Davey Boy Smith. When Scott Steiner made a charge to stop the cover, Jim Neidhart was able to hit a stiff armed clothesline to cut him off, and Rick Steiner was fractionally too late as Davey Boy and Neidhart earned themselves a shot at the WCW World Tag Team Championships. Result: Your winners, Davey Boy Smith and Jim Neidhart
Backstage, 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair cracks open a $3,000 magnum of champagne, as 'The Man of 1000 Holds' Dean Malenko walked into the dressing room. Flair shook the bottle and began spraying it over the head of Malenko, who held the Championship aloft.
Bret 'The Hitman Hart' v Curt Hennig Before the match began, Eric Bischoff announced that since Nick Patrick had taken a bump in the previous match that Sting would be the special guest referee. Bret Hart shook his head in defiance as Sting looked emotionless. It was clear Sting didn't want to be here, and very clear Bret Hart didn't want him to be here. Curt Hennig chewed his gum happy that Sting was out there. But from the outset it was very clear that Sting was going to rule straight down the middle, and liberally allow many breaches of the rules. It's quite clear Sting doesn't have much time for neither man, and you could almost sense from his emotionless face that he quite enjoyed seeing them slug it out with one another. This was a slow, but rythmic match that had the crowd in the palm of their hands. It's true, its 4-5 years since Hart and Hennig were the pinnacle of professional wrestling, where their matches repeatedly stole the show, but tonight it appeared that both men were going to go all out for each other to bring what the World Wrestling Federation fans were so fortunate to see to the rings of World Championship Wrestling. And I can assure you, these fans here in Tampa were extremely grateful. At times they were almost popping for the heel Hennig out of respect, but mostly the psychology was so crisply delivered that the fans had a very strong heel-face divide and cheered and booed appropriately. A lot of the spots delivered were from some of their classics in WWF, and despite the process of ageing it was still delivered prophetically. Sting kept ruling it down the middle, which began infuriating both men. Despite the protests of both Hart and Hennig, both clammering for a bit of leniency, a bit of support, as this epic duel seemed to know no limits and know no ways of separating itself. But Sting refused to be swayed. Thats not Sting's way, Sting is a man of honour. And if Bret Hart had any doubts, surely tonights refereeing display would showcase that. After 18 minutes of unprecedented action, with the crowd fuelled, the go home sequence begun. Sting accidentally took a bump from Curt Hennig as Bret Hart threw Sting in the way of a lariat from Hennig. Both men then begun slugging it out in the centre of the ring, until Hart began to lose control, and Hennig seemed to have it all set for the Hennig-Plex. But before Hennig could release the move and execute it, Hart was able to break Hennig's grip and turn it instead into a shin breaker. Hennig was in trouble, as Hart hit the Forward Russian Legsweep. As Sting started coming to, Hart went to the middle rope and hit a diving elbow drop to the sternum of Hennig. Hart picked Hennig up again and sent him into the ropes, Hennig frantically tried a clothesline but Hart ducked, and again hit the Forward Russian Legsweep. Hart pulled Hennig up again and went for the piledriver, but Hennig somehow overbalanced Hart, and the tables were turned, but before Hennig could piledrive Hart, Hart grabbed Hennig's boots and threw him off balance and both men crashed to the mat. Hart still had hold of Hennig's boots, and ultimately, leverage. And from there, in the centre of the ring he was able to clamp on the Sharpshooter. Hennig had nowhere to go, despite frantically trying to beat it, and despite holding on for as long as possible which began infuriating Hart more and more, and caused Hart to curse out Sting audibly telling him to do his job and rule the decisive hold. But Hennig kept hanging on, and finally as the frustration got too much for Hart he released the hold. Hart began thrusting Sting, who did not respond, Hennig took something from his tights, and went to swing it at Hart, who grabbed Hennig's hand, Sting checked Hennig's hand and found a pair of brass knucks and called for the bell. Result: Your winner, Bret Hart
Sting grabbed Hart by the right hand to hold it aloft, but Hart broke the hold of Sting and began cornering the solitary warrior. Despite Sting's accurate refereeing, his integrity was questioned by Hart who spat in his face, as he left the ring. It seems despite Sting's clear neutrality, Hart still has a problem with Sting.

And angel, I really like your idea about demasking. Ciclope won a Battle Royal for a shot at the Cruiserweight Championship back around this time, demasked and it was Dean Malenko who had been feuding with Chris Jericho the current Champion at the time. Was a masterful move. And the other great, great, great, great 'hidden under the mask' routine from WCW was La Parka, wrestling Randy Savage... BANG! Diamond Cutter! It was DDP. Great memories.

A couple of other 'hidden' aliases I liked was at a ... I think Road Wild?? PPV, Chris Jericho was Cruiserweight Champion, JJ Dillon says he's got some local backstage who wants a chance, Jericho says he'll give the jabrone an opportunity, turns out to Mysterio who wins... and another one, in the DDP/Chris Kanyon feud where a cameraman goes on the apron and gives DDP the Diamond Cutter, pulls off the wig, its Chris Kanyon, Mark Madden shouts out something like "They're paying him so poorly he's had to take a job as a cameraman...", meh it was funny to me at the time, as was the whole Diamond Dallas Kanyon character.

Tristam, I'm reading your diary. I somehow missed that it was still running. If I had realized, I might have started mine at an earlier point in 97 so we don't run into each other. Sorry mate. Anyway, I'm a WCW mark so I'll read and catchup. Hopefully by your next card I'll be familiar with where you are at with everything and will start making predictions.

One of the more humorous incidents of 1998 involved a blue dress, some lipstick, Arkansas' finest and a girl named Monica Lewinsky. What do you get when you add the following ingredients together - a not so attractive in-turn, the leader of the free world, a blue dress, and a denial? You get the infamous Lewinskygate affair. Apparently he did not have inappropriate relations, then he did, then he went from a superstar heroic politician to being tried for impeachment... It was one of the many media highlights of Bill Clinton, who in this year of 1998 denied ever having relations with that woman. Here's to you Mr Clinton, you know you've really made it big time when the back of your head is being licked as a stamp, and when you make it into Death of WCW's Celeb-O-Meter...
At the top of tonight's show, Kimberly Page is backstage working behind a stall. The stall is titled "Flea Bargain", and featuring on display are some of Miss Elizabeth's most beautiful gowns. Lenny Lane from the West Hollywood Blondes walks by, and notices a blue gown hanging up... "Hmmmm, I can see Lodi in that," he remarks. "He definitely has the figure for it. How much my dear?" "$2. Just like Miss Elizabeth," Kimberly answers caustically. Lenny reaches into his pocket, as we cut away from this dreadful sham. .... Furthermore backstage, we cut out to the Four Horsemen dressing room, where members of the nWo are controlling a wild backstage brawl! Flair is down, Benoit is down, Malenko is down, Goldberg is going toe to toe trying to hold the fort against four of the nWo. Wow, what an attack. How on earth did they get into the Four Horsemen fortress? Security finally comes to stop the altercation, about 30 of Miami's finest, but it takes them some time to step in and stop the carnage. .... We cut to a video segment, this time the video is focusing on the WCW Cruiserweight Champion, Psicosis. The video reveals:

Psicosis was trained by the father of Rey Mysterio Jr
Strangely, that man is known as Rey Mysterio Sr
I know, cryptic huh
He hails from Tijuana
Americans had their first real look at Psicosis with the high profile AAA Pay-Per-View 'When Worlds Collide' where he featured in a six man luchadore tag match and was on the victorious side over the likes of Latin Lover, Heavy Metal and Rey Mysterio Jr
Footage is shown of him continuing to broaden his already amazing arsenal in the WCW PowerPlant
Numerous pieces of footage are shown to highlight his amazing in ring skills
At the end of the video, he offers potential cruiserweights around the world a chance at his Championship, right here tonight, it is an open invitational Cruiserweight Battle Royale, and it is up... next!

WCW Cruiserweight Championship Contendors Match - Over the top rope battle royale The entrants were as follows:

Juventud Guerrera
'The Chairman of WCW' La Parka
Billy Kidman
Ultimo Dragon
Damian 666 from Mexico
Hector Garza
Super Calo
Ciclope
Jushin 'Thunder' Lyger from Japan
'Wipeout' Evan Karagias
The most purplexing arrival happened to be the arrival of two international superstars, Damian 666 and Jushin Lyger. At the start of the match, Psicosis could be seen arguing with JJ Dillon, and in very, very, very broken English it was clear he was not happy with either of their introductions. This was a fast paced battle royale, the falls to the outside were genuinely of the spectacular type, sometimes of the multiple type. The order of elimination to the final 3 was as follows;

Ciclope
Super Calo
Hector Garza
'The Chairman of WCW' La Parka
Damian 666
Billy Kidman
'Wipeout' Evan Karagias
This left Lyger, Ultimo Dragon and Juventud Guerrera. The three men slowly circled the ring avoiding one another until the exuberant Juventud made a bee-line for an unsuspecting Ultimo Dragon and nearly put him over the top rope, but Ultimo Dragon caught the bottom steel cable whilst millimetres rfom the ground and hauled himself in. With Juventud not aware, Ultimo Dragon was able to hit a fantastic Dragon Suplex. With Juventud groggily getting up, he was quickly head scissored to the outside. This left Ultimo Dragon and Jushin Lyger, two old school Japanese superstars with much respect and history. After locking up, Ultimo Dragon seemed to be gaining ascendency. After a raft of quick flying moves and counter moves, finally Jushin Lyger was able to hit a brainbuster on Ultimo Dragon, and with him dazed was able to wrap his legs around and go for a head scissors. Both men tumbled to the outside, with Ultimo Dragon fractionally hitting the floor first. Result: Your winner, Jushin Lyger
Post match, Psicosis stamped his feet outside the ring in disapproval. It was clear he could not believe his plan had backfired, as such an amazing athlete as Jushin 'Thunder' Lyger was now clearly in the way of Psicosis and his extended WCW Cruiserweight Championship. Backstage, Eric Bischoff runs into 'The Enforcer' Arn Anderson, who was not present as the hit went down earlier tonight. "What the hell was the meaning of that?" Anderson implores. Bischoff with a cheesy smile merely grins and looks up, seemingly acnkowledging himself. "You know what you just did, you encited the Horsemen," Anderson said. "You think one of ours is going to hospital? You want to try that? All I can suggest to you Mr Bischoff is you have a good supply of body bags. We ain't nice men, we don't wear white hats, and I can't be held responsible for what happens next. You injure a man of ours, we send two of yours six feet under, that's a known Horsemen fact!" "Relax Arn, relax," Bischoff offers. "You think I'd be so cruel to send your.... injured... superstars to hospital? You think I'm that gutless? I have a heart Arn, I'm not made of stone and that hurt. No, I'm a very forgiving man. And tonight, to show that it is my intention to have your superstars still here, I've booked them in a few matches. You see, Chris Benoit better recover tonight, because he's teaming up with Dean Malenko. And if Benoit doesn't get to the ring, Benoit loses the United States Championship. And as far as Malenko goes, tonight, he also pulls double duty... tonight, before the tag match, he goes one on one with Hugh Morrus. God, I'm good, God I love this job!" .... Backstage, as 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair holds an ice pack to his bandaged head, he looks around the dressing room to see 'Rabid Wolverine' Chris Benoit and 'The Man of 1000 Holds' Dean Malenko looking glum and devastated after the painful hit from earlier in the evening. "Chris, Dean, I'm only going to say this once. We always said this was going to be a war brother, and that's what we got tonight. They may win the battle, but the Horsemen way is fight back. Remember, diamonds are forever, and so are the Four...WOOOOOOOOOO...Horsemen...." ..... Backstage, 'Your Olympic Hero' Kurt Angle has Masahiro Chono from nWo Japan cornered. Angle has a look of anguish in his eye, he's more fired up than ever. "You cost me... You cost me. But you know what Masahiro Chono, you may have taken away my Championship, but you can never take away what's ticking inside here, pal. I won this freakin gold medal with a chronic neck injury. Just remember that... Oh it's true... It's DAMN true...!" Angle thrusts Chono by the leather jacket against the wall, before glaring in his eyes and storming off.
'The Master of the Diamond Cutter' Diamond Dallas Page v Disco Inferno Fresh with a swagger of having been part of the elaborate beat-down backstage, and fresh from a victory in the past week over Disco Inferno, Page's arrogance was bristling. Disco showed a few more signs of desperation, but just when it appeared that he may finally be working in some constructive offence, he started wiggling and gyrating. With a man like Page, a dangerous man like DDP, you never take your eye off the prize. Even if Kimberly is there at ringside, you always remained focused. And ultimately, this landed Disco Inferno a big bang surprise and a loss. Result: Your winner, Diamond Dallas Page
After the match, with Disco Inferno clutching at his head, Kimberly Page walked into the ring and grabbed the microphone from David Penzer, and handed it to her husband DDP. "Yo... You love me, you hate me, but one thing's for sure... you're never going to forget me! Now I've never denied that things weren't going to get jacked up! Jacked up! JACKED UP in Miami Florida... But if you think Disco got jacked up, Randy Savage, I've got another surprise for you. We have a lot of history Randy, and it's clear we can't resolve our issues with a round table summit pal, so at the Bash at the Beach, where my plans all came off in 1996 with the introduction of the New World Order as we know it... pal, you're going to get the biggest bang of them all... Bada-bing, bada-bang... BADA-BOOM!"
Eddie Guerrero v Raven My only gripe with this match... it should have been saved for Pay-Per-View. These two guys had one of the best matches seen on recent Nitro's. It was back and forth, with many near falls, counters, and Eddie's high octane energy interspersed with Raven's no nonsense hardcore approach. The two styles were a massive contrast, but a brilliant contrast. The chemistry was electric. The wrestlers made full use of all parts of the ring, and of course, when Raven's involved, the outside of the ring. But Guerrero showed a new intensity and toughness, and refused to be bullied by the rancid Raven. The go home sequence was quick. Eddie had Raven down, and went to the top rope looking for the Frog Splash. Raven raised his knees, and Eddie rolled on the ground. Raven picked up Eddie and went for the Evenflow DDT, but Eddie slipped out, and took the off balance Raven and went to plant him with the Evenflow DDT, but Raven himself the master of the hold knew what was coming and was able to thrust Eddie off. With neither man seemingly able to execute their finisher, they went to lock up once more, Eddie took Raven down with an head lock takedown to the mat, and had Raven into a pinning predicament, Raven rolled through and got free and put Eddie into an inside cradle...1...2... Eddie rolled through...1...2....Raven rolled through...1....2.... Finally both men relented and released and laid on their backs in the centre of the ring. Finally both men got back up, and Eddie was sent into the ropes. Both men collided with a thunderous double clothesline. Both men slumped onto their backs, with their arms accidentally covering one another...1....2... Ding ding.... Ding ding... Backstage, Diamond Dallas Page is motioning with his wife to calm down... "Kim, Kim! I know how much you want this, but Kim, lets wait till the eyes of the world are upon us at the Bash at the Beach.. Patience and then... when they least expect it... BANG!"
WCW Television Championship 'The Man of 1000 Holds' Dean Malenko v 'The Laughing Man' Hugh Morrus What's worse than beaten up backstage? Having match one of two against a 300 pound man with an amazing moonsault and a stiff moveset. This was not a particularly good match, but despite the adversities, Malenko overcame Morrus with a schoolboy roll up pinfall. Result: Your winner, and STILL WCW Television Champion, Dean Malenko
Backstage, 'Mean' Gene Okerlund is standing by with the solitary warrior, Sting. Sting is looking strangely pensive. "Alright guys, I'm back here with Sting, and we are now being joined by Bret 'The Hitman' Hart..." Hart walks onto the scene, with his sunshades on, and arrogantly refuses to look at Sting as Sting holds out the bat, and then drops it, as a sign of trust. But Hart refuses to acknowledge it. "Gene, what are we here for?" Bret Hart asks. "Bret Hart, since you came to WCW at the end of 1997, you have spoken about respect, you have spoken about trust. You have spoken about not being screwed over anymore. And yet across from you stands a man of the same virtues, and at the moment, you don't trust him, you don't respect him, and I wonder whether with your current intentions whether you would stand arm in arm with him in this, our ultimate battle against the New World Order." "Gene, I have been in professional wrestling since I can remember. My father ran Stampede, I got to go on the road with superstars and be taught by them from the moment I could talk. I live, breathe, and die professional wrestling. People know about the Hitman. They know what the Hitman stands for. There's no denial of what he stands for. And over all the years Gene, I thought I had come across every character known to man. I had learned to gauge people and make correct assumptions. Did I truly ever trust that [BEEP] from up north? No, but I did respect him. As I stand here now, the man I see in front of me is contemptious. While his facade stands for courage and honour, I see deeper, darker secrets inside this man. I see a haunted shadow of a man. I see someone that I can't trust...." Sting shakes his head slowly and just turns away, walking away from the interview. Its clear he doesn't want to get into an altercation with Hart. "You see that Gene, thats what I'm talking abooooot! Every time Sting has had a chance to change my mind, to show who he truly is, he just walks away. Like a coward. Sting, if thats the way it is pal, fine. You make your own way in life. I know the truth, some of these fans can see through it too, and if they can't, I don't give a [BEEP]. I know what I know. And that is Sting, you are a coward and you cannot be trust. When I want a man in my corner in the most desperate of times, I need to be able to look that man in the eye and know he will come through for me. And that's not Sting! And it's about time these fans here started to learn that. Because when all is said and done, I am the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be, I am the exc.." "Wait just a second!" Okerlund interrupts. "Is that what this is truly about? Is this about you needing to prove your ego? Is Sting someone who stands in the way of your individual glory? Bret Hart, I don't believe what I'm hearing.." "All I'm saying Gene, is I am the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. And if the WCW wants to stand over the top of the nWo, as it should, then it needs to put its trust in a leader. In the best. And that's me, Bret 'The Hitman' Hart...!" Hart stares back towards Gene with a piercing look, before walking in the opposite direction to where Sting went.
The Steiner Brothers v 'British Bulldog' Davey Boy Smith and Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart In the eyes of many it was an extreme upset for Smith and Neidhart to advance over the Steiner Brothers to face Harlem Heat at the Bash at the Beach Pay-Per-View. Smith and Neidhart tonight were here to prove it was no fluke, Davey Boy in particular is a great wrestler in his own right and tonight they hoped to shine. The rough and tough Steiners, the ultimate fan favourites of the tag team ranks really put them through their paces, but to their credit they kept holding up well. Eventually, after Davey Boy avoided a Bulldog from Rick Steiner, he was able to grab hold of the stunned Steiner and hit the Running Powerslam. The Anvil was able to stop Scott Steiner point blank with the point of the elbow as Davey Boy made the cover. Result: Your winners, Davey Boy Smith and Jim Neidhart
Backstage, Miami's finest are in the Four Horsemen dressing room. "Ric Flair, Bill Goldberg..." the head officer asks. "Yeah, what's this about?" Goldberg asks. "We've been sent here by the management of the arena, we understand there was a fracas earlier this evening, and we'd like for you to come down town with us to answer a couple of questions..." Goldberg and Flair shake their head in disgust, as Malenko and Benoit have a look of anguish on their face.
'Rabid Wolverine' Chris Benoit and WCW Television Champion 'The Man of 1000 Holds' Dean Malenko v 'K-Dawg' Konnan and Curt Hennig The two remaining Horsemen sold their injuries well, and Hennig in particular, the old taskmaster worked over the various joints of discomfort. Knowing Malenko had received some very tough shots from Hugh Morrus earlier in the evening, they continued to work over his sternum and rib cage, and on Benoit they worked over his right shoulder, wrenching it out of its socket it seemed to try and decrease the possiblity of the german suplexes and even the Crippler Crossface. Included in the working over was a trip outside where Konnan sent Malenko into the steel guardrails and Hennig held Benoit's extended arm and rammed it into the steel ring post. The brutality was clear, the intentions were clear. Tonight was not so much about a much valued pinfall, tonight was about inflicting pain. Tonight was about setting the pace for more turmoil down the track. Tonight was setting the foundations for the pivotal battles of the war. But the tenacity of the Horsemen reigned through, despite it all, despite allt the adversity, despite the odds being stacked against them, they continued to valiantly hang in there. They knew the prize on offer, it was all about pride, it was all about honour, it was all about integrity. And thanks to the legacy of Flair and the all great Horsemen before them, they never lost sight of each other, and never lost faith in each other. Finally, after a great bout, Benoit was somehow able to find the courage to head to the top rope, with his arm practically hanging out, and sacrificed it all with the Diving Headbutt. He knew he had to execute it perfectly as his arm was so prone it could not handle the Crossface, and he did, ending the match via pinfall. SLAM! Over the head of Dean Malenko! Chris Benoit got up to fight back, but Rick Rude got in the ring and hit the Rude Awakening. With the Horsemen truly crestfallen, the commentators talked about the pains that WCW had had inflicted upon them tonight, and how dark this night truly was. Just as the tone got grimmer and grimmer, the crowd popped. Hennig, Konnan and Rude continued to hold their arms aloft, thinking the fanfare was for them, but they very quickly ducked out of the ring when they turned around and saw that the pops were for Rey Mysterio Jr and Chavo Guerrero Jr. Hennig and Konnan were quick to point the finger at Mysterio and Chavo who dared them to return to the ring, but the vanquished nWo team continued to beat a hasty retreated to the back. Backstage, as Konnan, Hennig, Rude went by the WCW Interview Control Centre, 'Mean' Gene Okerlund stood by with the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, 'Lionheart' Chris Jericho. "Alright guys, I thank you. And I thank the fans too for their interest in the WCW Hotline. Fans, if you want the latest gossip on a former WCW World Heavyweight Champion and his dark and mysterious new direction in professional wrestling, make sure you ring 1-900-909-9900. This exclusive is so hot, it's sizzling. Speaking of sizzling, Chris Jericho, you have been on an amazing ride here of late, but at the Bash at the Beach you must face Lex Luger and defend your World Heavyweight Championship..." "Is that all Gene?" "Well....Yeah... I just want to know ab.." "No, Gene. Remember, you are supposed to introduce me as your Paragon of Good Virtue, the Ayatollah of Rock n Rolla, the man of 1004 Holds... King of the Jerichoholics, Chris Jericho. I'll let you get away with it this time Gene, but remember this, I have a penchant for taking souvenirs from the vanquished, and there's not many more hairs on your head and I think that would make a lovely tea-cosy, and a lovely souvenir. Now, on my very show, WCW Monday Night Jericho, you want to talk to me about Lex Luger? As far as I know, Lex Luger has a very tough match up next against my fellow Canadian Bret Hart. You see Gene, I choose not to focus on Lex Loser, I choose to focus on the current superstar, not yesterdays hero. You see, Lex Luger may still be one of the most well built physical specimens in professional sport... but I am the Ayatollah of Rock n Rolllllllaaaaaaaaaa, your Paragon of Good Virtue, and come Bash at the Beach, I will also still be your World Heavyweight Champion. So you bottom feeding trash bag, next time I grace you with my presence Junior, you prepare something a little more important than Lex Loser.!" Jericho storms off, leaving Okerlund flustered.
'Total Package' Lex Luger v Bret 'The Hitman' Hart A very interesting main event. You have perhaps one of the hottest superstars in professional wrestling right now in Bret Hart, and the man who could well be the WCW World Heavyweight Champion at Bash at the Beach. Of course, in terms of working ability its a massive polar opposite. But Luger has a presence, a look that gets him over. Throughout the match, Hart and Luger were distracted by the following texts that periodically popped up on the Turner-Tron... You wrestled the demons... You wrestled with shadows.... But have you experienced the franchise?... You claim to have been screwed... You claim to have been ripped off... But have you experienced emotional hell?... I survived, will you? Hart seemed flustered by the presence of the texts, and despite wrestling an excellent match, the final text had him baffled. With Hart confused, it gave Luger the opportunity to come from behind and blow him away with the bionic elbow. With Hart struggling, Luger hit it again. And once more, leaving Hart dazed. This allowed Luger to get Hart up for the Torture Rack, and grab a highly sought after scalp to legitimise himself as Jericho's challenger. Result: Your winner, Lex Luger
After the match, as Hart fell to the mat and and grabbed at his wrenched back, Luger left the ring, as Sting descended. The ring area went dark, with a dim blue light. Sting stood above Bret Hart, extending the bat, and looking, peering into the eyes, the emotions of Hart. It seemed as much as Sting wanted to avoid, he knew it was inevitable that the only way to prove himself to Bret Hart was to test himself against the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be..........

Firstly, its inspiring, secondly, its entertaining. I love any WCW story, and I will be sure to read yours through. I respect anyone who can capture the era accurately, mate. I don't see it as someone running into me etc, I just see it as an alternate view on events and something that I will personally dig thoroughly. Hopefully you like what you're reading mate, ultimately I'm enjoying it but I'm keen to make sure hardcore WCW fans are too.

...
Hello fans to the greatest and most accurate account of the world of WCW on the 'net today, exclusive to all my great fans on wcw.com. I'm your host, Tony Schiavone, the voice of WCW, and wow, the last few weeks have been hectic. Firstly, as always this is a commercial free look at the world of professional wrestling, not even Cowboy Slim from that other promotion can claim that! - Firstly, to your great fans in Mobile, Alabama, this Wednesday will be an exclusive chance to see your favourite superstars as we bring a house show to you. Tickets are on sale now! Fans, included in the line up will be Reese, Doc Dean and Magnum TOKYO. You do NOT want to miss this opportunity! If you miss this opportunity you really aren't that big a fan. Personally, I will be in Mobile but will not be at the show, so I will be missing out on a great night. - Last Monday night, the Four Horsemen took a pummelling. It was a very dark evening as the New World Order really took control. However, might I congratulate Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko for defying the odds and standing strong for the Horsemen and WCW in the face of amazing adversities. - Did you all get a bit freaked out with the messages we can only assume were left by Sting for Bret Hart? While on the other channel, the performer we dumped from our shows known as Dude Love was taking centre stage, here we had genuine performers. As if Dude Love will put behinds on seats, here we had a genuinely interesting main event. Lex Luger is one of the greatest performers of our generation. A truly gifted wrestler with a great moveset, he is truly very entertaining. But the Hart and Sting saga has got me interested. Fans, I never saw the day coming, but I sense that Bret Hart and Sting will have to fight it out because I really can't see the two of them co-existing. This could get ugly. - Speaking of ugly, a big congratulations to Mark Madden and Jeremy Borash. The Wcw.com netcasts of the shows have nothing short of extraordinary. - For those of you wondering why Wrath was not on the show at Nitro, I have heard rumours that he has a herniated disc in his back. That HAS to be it. There's no other Godly reason why this man is not your WCW World Heavyweight Champion as of right now. - What about the arrival of Jushin 'Thunder' Lyger? I never saw that one coming. I don't think Psicosis did either, and you could sense the current Cruiserweight Champion was not overly thrilled to see Lyger in the invitational battle royale. - And finally, a big thumbs up to Technico Toys for their imitation doll of yours truly. The Tony Schiavone Action Figure (c)(tm)(r) is available at all good toy stores for the ridiculously low price of $27.99. Other superstars featured in the legends of wrestling collection include 'Mean' Gene Okerlund, Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan, 'K-Dawg' Konnan and Hector Garza. I don't know how any fan could live with themselves without having one of these. It feels weird not only being the voice of professional wrestling, but also now being the face of the greatest wrestling merchandise promotion in the history of this great game is kinda interesting. I can't say I'm humbled by it as it was expected when you perform as well as I do for as long as I do in such a challenging role as I have, but it sure is nice to see it. Well fans, thats about all I have time for. Remember to keep subscribing by credit or call charge on wcw.com for your exclusive take into the world of professional wrestling from your great friend, Tony Schiavone. Yours Truly, TS

Tonight's Celeb-O-Meter is a bit of a tragic one. It speaks of a tale of a certain booker who grew up in the country and had limited radio access, limited TV access... and was blown away when he first saw... Thriller. This guy's music will always transcend eras, and still a day on, I am in somewhat in shock of his passing. I think its because throughout my life his music has always been relevant, it has always had meaning. Even back to the Jackson 5 songs, they are still outstanding songs by comparison to the way today's songs are compiled. I talk to people a lot who recall where they were and how they felt when Elvis died, when John Lennon died, and now I understand how they feel. Michael Jackson was the voice of the era. Tonight's show is not a tribute to him because I don't think any of my shows could ever be a fitting tribute, but none-the-less, his music will always remind me of my youth.
As the lightning blue pyros burst out across a sold out arena here in Tallahassee, Florida, we can see the crowd is quite evenly split between WCW hardcore fans and nWo fans. Florida has been a wrestling hotbed for a long long time, and tonight they will be rabid I'm sure, as we head down to 'Iron' Mike Tenay, 'Stagger' Lee Marshall and 'The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes. "Welcome fans to Thursday Thunder, live from the SuperStation, TBS. I'm Mike Tenay, and with me as always, 'Stagger'' Lee Marshall and for our esteemed veteran colleague Dusty Rhodes, 'The American Dream' knows this part of the United States of America oh so well having been a featured superstar here in the 1980s. Tonight promises to be a great card, Jushin 'Thunder' Lyger participates in his first singles match in WCW since 1996 against the brilliant young luchadore Juventud Guerrera, Dean Malenko of the Four Horsemen puts his WCW Television Championship on the line against 'Lord' Steven Regal, Diamond Dallas Page will go one on one with the Giant and also tonight in action, Rey Mysterio Jr and Chavo Guerrero Jr, 'Total Package' Lex Luger and much much mo... Guys, we're going straight to the back!" We cut straight to the hallways of the arena, where Kimberly Page is in rapturous tears. Sensing anarchy, the legendary 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair comes up to comfort her, even though she is of course from the opposite side of the fence. "Kim, what's wrong...?" "I...I shouldn't be talking to you, Ric. You know, Four Horsemen, nWo... all that... But, but..." "But what?" CRACK! It's an ambush! The Outsiders round the corner and start laying the smack into the 'Nature Boy', and just as 'Big Sexy' Kevin Nash has him in a prone position within his legs for a Jackknife Powerbomb, Scott 'Flash' Norton and Brian Adams round the corner with lead pipes, forcing the Outsiders and Kimberly to beat a hasty retreat!
Jushin 'Thunder' Lyger v Juventud Guerrera Mike Tenay mentions at the top of the match that Lyger participated in the very first match in Monday Nitro history. At the start of the match the two competitors round the ring, before Juventud steps forward and offers a handshake to Jushin Lyger out of respect for the legendary status of the Japanese mega-star. This was a typical fast paced opening match, with Lyger's experiencing helping to sharpen the fast moving pace of the match into something that resembled a wrestling story. It was clear that Juventud was in awe of Jushin Lyger, and that a win would mean the world to him, but at every turn it seemed Lyger had a trick up his sleeve from his massive experience to counter act the young latino sensation. After a very quick paced match, Juventud fell prey to the Brainbuster, allowing Lyger to pick the pinfall here on Thunder. Result: Your winner, Jushin 'Thunder' Lyger
Post match, as Lyger posed for the fans and then left the ring, Juventud Guerrera slowly came around, and after shaking the cobwebs from his head, he shouted out to Lyger. Lyger turned around, as Juventud called him back into the ring. Jushin responded, and sprinted into the ring. Juventud stood back for a second, as the commentators pondered whether Juventud wanted payback revenge. But after Lyger shrugged his shoulders asking what this was all about, Juventud stepped forward and again extended his right hand, and then thrust the arm of the legend in the air as the fans celebrated the true return of the great Jushin Lyger. Backstage, 'Your Olympic Hero' Kurt Angle is in his dressing room punching a speed ball, as Masahiro Chono and The Great Muta from nWo Japan enter the dressing room. Angle can see them in the mirror, as they stand behind him. "Well well well, Jackie Chan and the Sundunce Kid, what do you want now?" Angle asks. "Jackie Chan?" Chono retorts. "He Chinese, we Japanese. We better. Now! You! You be talking about how we bad Japanese cost you American hero match for TV Title. When truth is if you good enough you win anyway. Old Japanese saying, man must see through mist..." "What are you tal.." Just as Angle goes to finish the sentence, the Great Muta sends out his famous green mist into the eyes of Angle, who starts screaming in agony as we cut to a break. ------ After the break, Self High Five begins, as Kimberly Page, suddenly now happy without tears of devastation in her eyes, and 'The Master of the Diamond Cutter' Diamond Dallas Page head down to the bottom of the ramp, as 'Mean' Gene Okerlund awaits for a scheduled interview. "Diamond Dallas Page, I thank you for your time here to come out on Thunder to talk about the situation developing between yourself and 'Macho Man' Randy Savage..." "Developing? Developing, Gene? Are you a misinformed punk like the rest of these Tallahassee inbreds?" The crowd, of course, reacts to the cheap jibe from Page. "Oh that's right. You know what, I don't care. You love me, you hate, but one thing's for sure, you'll never forget me. And you know? Because I make an impact. But it seems I haven't quite made an impact on you, Mr Hotline Man. Perhaps it failed to reach your 1-900 number, scoop, but this war has raged for over a year. The only one it seemed within the New World Order who was too mad to work it out, that I was the man who began this evolution was a certain 'Macho Man' Randy Savage. And he therefore got in the way of the masterplan that you see evolving before you today. The plan that I initiated. Let me remind of how it all went down, Gene. You see, back in the early 1990s I managed a young duo of wrestlers known as Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. As time evolved, I then became the next door neighbour of Eric Bischoff. We all remained very close, and started to plot together as how we could shock the world of professional wrestilng to the core, and change it forever as we knew it. That punk up north, he thought that Hall and Nash would work forever and a day as his ox's, even outside the scope of their contracts. Little did he know that myself, Eric and a certain Million Dollar Man our chief beneficiary within the corporation were already planning out the very essence of what you see today. The truth is Gene, I was the one who came up with the idea of the New World Order as far back as 1991, it was not a matter of if, it was a matter of when. The only problem Gene was one person within the New World Order, who was no manaical that he became oblivious to the master plan. These morons here cheered for me as I took down the madness in 1997, and now that we've jumped sides of the trench, it's time I finished him off..." "So you're saying this is a long standing issue?" Okerlund asks. "I've known Savage since the late 80s. When he wrestled up north, I drove a pink cadillac at one of their mega-events, behind Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine and the Honky Tonk Man. Do you think... DO YOU THINK Gene... hahaha... This is going to blow your mind... That it is any... and I mean... ANY coincidence that the Honky Tonk Man and Greg Valentine would reaffirm their abilities back in World Championship Wrestling... After that? That's jacked up man, you see, I'm the master manipulator. The dirt rags, they all claim it's Hog.. I mean, he who must not be mentioned this, Terry you-know-who that who screws the talent down. But it's simply not true, Gene. The master behind all this, is the master of the diamond cutter. And what I saw when I was up north chaffeuring Valentine and Honky Tonk Man was a fool whose mind was so warped that I saw him as the ultimate ... paradox. The ultimate ... in .... JACKED UP! The ultimate man to be manipulated. And so it goes that ever since he came to World Championship Wrestling following, I've been sewing the strings of chance and messing him around, and he just never saw it. Just like the diamond cutter, BANG! You never see it coming. And Savage, just like the Giant tonight, ole fe-fi-fo-fum, at the Bash at the Beach, where people thought it all started but where in actual fact it merely exploded, you too will be exploded. You see, I'm going to end your career, I'm going to finish off the madness that I exploited. That's not a threat pal, that's a promise... Bada-bing...Bada-bang...BADA-BOOM!" Okerlund looks perplexed, as Diamond Dallas Page flashes the Diamond Cutter signal, and is escorted by Kimberly back up the ramp to the back.
WCW Television Championship 'The Man of 1000 Holds' Dean Malenko (c) v 'Lord' Steven Regal Regal is a dangerous opponent, not merely by his association with brawling back in the Isles that shaped him up as a dangerous combatant, but also his unorthodox southpaw approach. This was a tough, competitive defence for Malenko. But it seems to be the Horsemen way to not shrug away from the top matches. This wasn't a quick match, but it was a fluent match, ended up Regal went for a southpaw European Uppercut, which Malenko ducked and avoided, got into a go behind position and took Regal down with a tiger suplex. From the broken pinfall, Regal was slowly back to his feet but taken down by a drop kick from Malenko, who took advantage of the staggered Regal with the Texas Cloverleaf. "Dean esse, hurry! Ric Flair has been attacked holmes... those Outsiders have attacked him... HURRY!" Malenko begins running backstage, as we cut to a break. --------- As we cut back from the break, 'The Man of 1000 Holds' Dean Malenko heads to the position where 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair was taken down earlier only to be himself led straight into an Outsider trap! The two villains begin beating mercilessly on Malenko, and end up irish whipping Dean Malenko straight through a door which comes off it's hinges. We can hear the wailing of female screams, oh my, Malenko has gone head first into the female showers. Doug Dillenger and the fun police immediately come rushing in to apprehend Malenko.
West Hollywood Blondes (Lenny Lane and Lodi) v Rey Mysterio Jr and Chavo Guerrero Jr Another impressive outing from Chavo and Rey, they have such a fluen tagging in style, they cut the ring off well, they seem to have an excellent understanding together. Their appreciation of the tag team dynamics and how they can work it in together could realistically make them the break out team of 1998. The West Hollywood Blondes were not without their moments, but their lack of concentration cost them too many times against a fantastically talented team. The match was ended when Rey hit the Springboard Hurricanrana on Lenny Lane for the pinfall. I am the Ayotollah of Rock n Rollllaaaa, your paragon of good virtue, the Master of the Jerichoholics Anonymous Society, and the WCW World Heavyweight Champion for now and forever. So for that," Jericho clenches his right fist, but before he can deck 'Mean' Gene, 'The Total Package' Lex Luger comes onto the scene and gets between Okerlund and Jericho. "You are a coward, Jericho," Luger retorts. "That's the nWo way, isn't it? The nWo cowardly stole the rights of WCW away from me at Uncensored '97, they stole the World Heavyweight Championship from me at Road Wild, and you continue that cowardly approach on to this very day." "Coward? Weeeeelllll, I have never...EVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRR been accused of such things. Who in the blue hell do you think you are? You are speaking to the WCW World Heavyweight Champion Junior, have some respect. But speaking of cowardice and heroism, I've gone out of my way to help you Junior. So tonight, you bottom feeding trashbag, you have to prove your worth. You see, in my way of thinking, you became the number one contender by ... default.
'Total Package' Lex Luger v Buff 'The Stuff' Bagwell A fairly ordinary match, but a necessary one to put Luger over. Man, he speaks of some great night with those guys..." "Well, I was one of those guys. I guess I still am. Listen, I think there's been some kind of mistake here. I can personally vouch for Dean's attitude to women, it's not what you're arresting him for. In fact, is your old man still working...?" "Yes he is..." "And I bet he still watches WCW..." "Well yeah, when you're not working, who doesn't?" "Yeah, but your old man watches it from the station... So why don't you give him a call, because the footage on our broadcast will clear this good man..." Officer Stephens nods, and begins radioing the station, as we cut to a break. -------- Backstage, Bill Goldberg goes to join Mark Madden and Jeremy Borash at the wcw.com netcast booth, but as he puts on his headphones he is jumped also by the Outsiders! "Can I say a little something? You know, chico, people say the nWo revolutionised professional wrestling. It's the common talk around these parts, but chico, the revolution is only beginning. I mean, on da net? Wow, so this is where Chris Benoit goes to meet chicks. Now, Madden, Borash, what my colleague is saying here is that all the pain you have remembered from the nWo, imagine that apocalypse and multiply it by a million. Don't blame us, blame the Horsemen..." "Yo, he's right. So Four Horsemen, you wanted a war? You want fireworks? Don't sing it, BRING IT!"
WCW World Tag Team Championships Harleam Heat (c) v The Extreme Innovators (Perry Saturn and 'The Innovator of Offence' Chris Kanyon) This was actually quite a good bout. A lot of two and fro, some good chain wrestling, a lot of heel tactics from Harlem Heat to cut down the Innovators, a fiery comeback from the Innovators marked with some great innovative suplexes and slams, and finally a punishing go home sequence from Harlem Heat who finished it off with a Harlem Hangoever delivered by Booker T. Result: Your winners, and STILL WCW Tag Team Champions, Harlem Heat
We see the Giant walking towards the gorilla position backstage with an intense look in his eyes as we cut to a break.
'The Master of the Diamond Cutter' Diamond Dallas Page v The Giant A classic tale of an awesome physical beast, against the ultimate match manipulator, Diamond Dallas Page. The Giant was intent on revenge, but Page used his experience to spend a lot of time outside the ring to get away from the Giant, and then use quick swift entrances to catch the Giant off guard to hit some hit and go arsenal. For the first few minutes that was quite effective, a lot of drive-by type hits from Page, before finally the Giant caught him. And for the next few minutes, the Giant just pounded DDP within an inch of his life. The punishment was awesome, and the fans loved it. DDP tried to get to the outside, tried to get to the ropes, tried to gauze the eyes of the Giant, but no matter what he tried the Giant seemed to just keep hanging and banging the beating on Page. Finally, Page in a moment of desperation was saved by Kimberly, who got on the apron and pulled at the foot of the Giant, who turned around menacingly, but as he did so, Page leant forward and hit a low blow on the Giant, who fell to one knee. Page tried to pound on the Giant, but the powerful Giant kept control of Page and put him in a menacing bear hug and sat him on the top rope. He grabbed at Page's throat and began to drag him down but Page somehow mid flight escaped and caught the Giant around the neck and took the Giant down with an amazing Diamond Cutter. He rolled over slowly....1......2..........3! Result: Your winner, Diamond Dallas Page
After the match, the nWo headed down to the ring, the lot of them. They began working over the Giant, clipping his legs, and generally keeping him sedated. As the ring began to fill with debris, the fans started to cheer as 'Macho Man' Randy Savage raced down to the ring. Bang! Over the top rope with clotheslines went Vincent, Buff Bagwell, Konnan, Rick Rude, Curt Hennig, Hall and Nash raced from the ring, leaving Savage one on one with Page. Page looked to leave the ring, but the Giant had stood up, and he ran into him.... CHOKESLAM! Down goes Page! Goodnight nurse.
