A little teaser before TEW 2008 comes out.

Recommended Posts

If I do a diary for 08 that isn't a continuation of my current NYCW diary, then it will almost certainly be a different promotion. Of the possible promotions, CGC has always been one I have been interested in, but never really explored in depth. But I did start a short game a few months ago and even wrote up thru the first PPV. So here are those show write-ups and a brief teaser for how I would book CGC. :)

CGC Title Bout Wrestling on Maple Leaf Sports LIVE from the SOLD OUT Pengrowth Palace Prairies Region, Canada Sun Week 1 Jan 2007 Att: 2000 Dark Matches: The Specialists drew with Youth Energy in 4:42 following a Double Disqualification. Match Rating C- This long time tag team rivalry gets renewed again as Youth Energy attempt to regain the tag titles, but both teams end up fighting on the outside and the referee throws this one out. All four competitors showed increased performance ability probably due to their long familiarity with each other. Steve Flash defeated Jacob Jett in 5:03 by pinfall with a Flash Bang Match Rating C- I had a couple of roster spots to fill and these were the first two talents I brought in. Flash has the ring skills to be a star and just needs work on his promos and charisma to truly shine, while Jett is a rising star who can go far. The veteran teaches the youngster while defeating him as Jett showed some improvement in both his rumbling skills and his overall ring performance. Main Show: Eddie Chandler enters the office of CGC Owner and Commisioner George DeColt. He states that he wants a title match against the CGC Canadian Champion Alex DeColt tonight . The senior DeColt tells Chandler that just because he has held the Canadian and Tag Team championships in the past doesn't mean that he has done anything to earn a world title shot. His request is denied and don't come back until he has shown he is worthy of a being a contender for the World title. Rating B A well recieved angle that makes a nice start to our show. Chandler, with a little help from Adrian Garcia, more than holds his own in this segment and the DeColt patriarch is also a natural in front of the camera. After Commisioner DeColt's rejection of his challenge to the World Champion, Eddie Chandler just snaps and begins destroying the commisioner's office. He then lays a right cross on the Commisioner and flattens him. Then, while Chandler is screaming "Show you that I am worthy, huh ?! " , he locks the Fabulous Stretch on the older man and just grinds it in all the time saying " How about it commish? Is this worthy enough for you?! How about now?! Let me show you how worthy I am you sanctimonious old bastard!" Blood starts pouring from the commisioner's mouth and then finally officials rush into the office and manage to get Chandler off of the commisioner. Rating B+ Another well received angle and Chandler shows all the makings of a great top heel. Grandmaster Phunk defeated Whippy The Clown in 5:33 by pinfall. Match Rating D Whippy is a talented and charismatic performer, who, unfortunately for us, just took a written offer with NOTBPW. So he gets the honors of doing the job for the incoming Grandmaster Phunk, who is also a great entertainer and a decent in ring performer. The match was a short standard early tv match that did its job of introducing Phunk and giving him a win. Ryan Powell defeated Shooter Sean Deeley and Ricky DeColt in 7:34 when Ryan Powell retrieved the item. Ryan Powell wins the CGC Canadian title. Match Rating C Deeley was another performer heading to our competitors in NOTBPW, so we needed to move the Canadian title. With both Powell and Ricky DeColt involved, it gave some mystery to the outcome, and having it in a ladder match played to their aerial abilities to make it an exciting bout. It was educational all around as Deeley learned from two accomplished flyers, while Powell took some of Deeley's technical knowledge and both he and Ricky showed some overall ring performance improvement. Powell gets the win and a natural rivalry with Ricky DeColt as a result. An angry Jack DeColt is being interviewed backstage. He says that Eddie Chandler has made the biggest mistake of his life in putting his hands on Jack's father. He tells Chandler that he is extremely lucky in the fact that his brothers Alex and Steve haven't arrived yet , but that won't matter as he will tear Chandler apart himself. Rating B- Jack's anger filled vow of veangance got a good reaction as he shares all of the DeColts' gift of charisma. As Jack DeColt is pacing angrily in the middle of the ring, Eddie Chandler's smug face appears on the big screen. He tells Jack not to blame Chandler because it is all his father's fault. All he had to do was grant his reasonable request for a shot at the world title and none of this would have ever happened. Now, since his coward brother Alex hasn't had the guts to show up yet, Jack will have to serve as another example that it doesn't pay to cross the Fabulous one Eddie Chandler! Rating B Chandler has consistently been money in these angles all night and now it only remains to be seen if he can deliver in the ring as well as he does outside of it. Eddie Chandler defeated Jack DeColt in 11:47 by submission after interference from John Maverick. During the match we also had Dan DaLay run in and attack Jack DeColt. Match Rating B A really nice main event match to cap out my first show as Jack and Eddie accuentated a natural chemistry together with the subplot of Jack's rage against Chandler's actions and Chandler trying to go thru Jack to get at the World title. Jack uses his anger to dominate early, Chandler weathers the storm and uses some underhanded manuevers to gain control through the middle of the match. Jack rallies at the end and thay is when Chandler's elite cronies hit the ring. Maverick distracts the referee while DaLay delivers a DaLay Down on DeColt. Then he exits the ring as Chandler slaps on the Fabulous Stretch on the dazed Jack DeColt. DeColt is unable to get to the ropes or break the hold and has no choice but to tap. The crowd popped big time for this match and both competitors showed improved performance in the ring. Jack showed an improvement in his brawling as well. After Eddie Chandler gets his hand raised in victory by forcing Jack DeColt to tap to the Fabulous Stretch, his cronies in the Elite join him in the ring. Standing over the fallen DeColt, Chandler grabs a mike and states that this is just an example of what will happen to the DeColt family if he doesn't get his match for the world championship. And then Chandler, Maverick and DaLay proceed to put the boots to Jack DeColt. Dan nails another Dalay Down on Jack and then Maverick slaps on his Deadly Silence finisher to cause further injury to Jack. Storming from the back are Jack's brothers Steve and Alex DeColt, who have finally arrived. The Elite members vacate the ring as the DeColt brothers enter and they stand protectively over Jack as the The Elite back away up the entrance ramp. Eddie is jawing off at Alex that it didn't have to be this way, that all his father had to do was say yes to his request. Alex and Steve glare on at Chandler and crew in total hatred as the Elite exit backstage. Rating B- A strong finish to my first show in CGC as the stage is set for the long running feud between the DeColts and the Elite to go to the next level of an all out war. OVERALL SHOW RATING B- TV RATING 4.50 If we can keep getting results like this , we may have a good shot at competing with NOTBPW afterall.

CGC Title Bout Wrestling on Maple Leaf Sports Live from the SOLD OUT Quebec City Arena in Quebec Canada Sun Week 2 Jan 2007 Att: 2000 Dark Matches: Zeus Maxmillion and Trent Shaffer defeated Mainstream Hernandez and Grimm Quibble in 2:33 when Trent Shaffer defeated Grimm Quibble by pinfall with a Heart Burn. Match Rating D- Some of our openers getting work in a fast paced and short match that introduces newcomer Mainstream Hernandez to our roster and sees Trent Shaffer get a victory. Shaffer also shows an improvement in his aerial ability and overall ring performance. Hernandez shows some ring perfomance improvement as well while Quibble shows an increased rumble component in his short offense in the match. The Specialists defeated The Gilbert Brothers in 3:34 when Bobby Thomas defeated Joe Gilbert by pinfall with a Special Delivery. Match Rating D- The Specialists get a win to set up their shot at the belts at the PPV on Friday. The crowd is looking forward to more on the Elite/DeColt showdown so aren't too excited by the matches so far. Jesse Gilbert does show a little improvement in his Rumble skills , but this is basically a squash for the specialists. The Soldiers Of Fortune drew with Youth Energy in 3:49 when the referee lost control and stopped the match. Youth Energy make defence number 1 of their CGC World Tag Team titles. Match Rating D Slightly better match as the Soldiers of Fortune and Youth Energy have a brawl that goes outside the ring fairly quickly and the referee throws this one out too. Again this goes to set up the PPV tag team defense which will be a triple threat match. Both Destiny and Fate show some general ring performance improvements during the short time this was actually in the ring. Main Show: Eddie Chandler is shown backstage with his partner in the Elite, Dan DaLay. For some strange reason Joe Gilbert joins them , waving like a goofball to the camera. Chandler and DaLay just stare at him like he is some kind of idiot before cold ****ing him and tossing him out of the area. Chandler then addresses the camera and says he has an important message for the DeColts. He shows some fake sympathy for putting Jack DeColt out of action tonight and DaLay snickers in the background. Chandler then goes on to say that it was all Jack's fault that he got hurt because he made the fatal mistake of standing in the way of the Elite and their goal!. Rating C John Maverick was actually supposed to be out their with his Elite partners for the promo, but a message got crossed somewhere and Joe came out instead and interjected a bit of unexpected comedy into the promo. Chandler and DaLay quickly recovered and ad libbed their reaction to Gilbert's interjection before tossing him out and going back to the meat of the promo. The camera then focuses on Eddie Chandler and Chandler tells Alex DeColt that the systematic destruction of the DeColts and all they hold dear in CGC will continue until Alex shows some guts and accepts Chandler's challenge for the CGC World Championship. He tells Alex that everything that has happened and will happen will be his fault, not Chandler's until Alex does the right thing and faces Chandler with the title on the line! Rating B+ Huge response from the audience as Chandler has gained serious credibility as a top heel in the last couple of weeks with the intensity of his promos and the ruthlessness of his attacks. John Maverick defeated Ed Monton in 5:34 by submission with a Deadly Silence Match Rating C- Maverick makes a strong showing by defeating long time CGC veteran Monton convincingly with his Deadly Silence submission. Both the veteran performers show an improvement in their ring performance as they each learn from the other wrestler. Jenny Playmate is backstage with Steve Flash and Ricky DeColt. She tells Ricky that with her uncle Steve as his partner they will have no problem in dealing with the Canadian Champion Ryan Powell and his partner Grandmaster Phunk. She butters up Ricky's ego a little by saying he was robbed in the match last week, but that her uncle Steve is the best wrestler in the world and together they are practically guaranteed a victory!. Rating C Jenny does a decent promo that helps set up several things. One , that she is managing "Uncle Steve" Flash. Two , setting up the feuds between Ricky DeColt and Ryan Powell and Steve Flash and Grandmaster Phunk. And Three, teasing some possible involvement with Ricky DeColt. Since Steve Flashes main drawback is his awkwardness on promos, teaming him up with Jenny should help him a lot in that area and he already shows a little improvement already. Ricky DeColt and Steve Flash defeated Ryan Powell and Grandmaster Phunk in 6:39 when Ricky DeColt defeated Grandmaster Phunk by pinfall with a DeColt 45. Match Rating D Slightly dissapointing crowd response for this match, but that may be due to neither Flash nor Phunk being well known by the audience yet. Ricky really shines in this match as he gets to hit all his spots and gets the win with his trademark DeColt 45 finisher. Alex DeColt is backstage with his brother Steve DeColt. Alex and Steve tell Eddie Chandler and Dan DaLay that tonight they are going to pay for what they did to their brother Jack and their father George. Tonight it is not about victory, it's not about titles, it is about revenge and family honor! The Elite are about to learn that when you mess with one DeColt, you mess with them all! Rating B Another good intense promo to heighten the feud between the DeColts and the Elite as Alex and Steve use their natural charisma to really sell their desire for revenge on Chandler and DaLay. DaLay & Chandler defeated Steve & Alex DeColt in 10:48 when Eddie Chandler defeated Steve DeColt by submission after interference from John Maverick. Match Rating C Not as good as last weeks main event, but still a solid match that worked to further the escalating war between the DeColts and the Elite. Alex and Steve use their anger to dominate early. Then the heels use some underhanded tactics to get the advantage and isolate Steve for most of the match. Alex finally gets the hot tag and cleans house for a little while. The heels begin to regain control again, but Steve tags in as Alex is getting tossed out of the ring. He delivers a couple of clotheslines to knockdown Chandler and knock DaLay outside the ring, where Alex goes after him. As the referee is over trying to break this up, Steve is setting up Chandler for a DeColt Stampede when John Maverick hits the ring and trips up Steve DeColt. Eddie Chandler takes advantage to lock in the Fabulous Stretch and the referee turns around and sees Steve tapping out to the painful hold , thereby giving Chandler the win. The match itself saw Steve show better ring performance and technical skill while Dan DaLay also showed improvement in the ring. Alex DeColt storms back in the ring and knocks down Eddie Chandler. They are both throwing wild punches at each other as Dan DaLay and Steve DeColt are also involved in a melee with each other. The ring fills with officials and other wrestlers to finally separate the two teams and try to restore some order. Rating B+ The intensity of this feud continues to build as the war between Eddie and Alex and their respective groups seems to be capturing the attention of the fans as they have a loud response to the after match brawl. Alex DeColt is on one side of the ring and Eddie Chandler on the other side, and both antagonists separated by a wall of referees, officials and wrestlers. Alex grabs a mike and yells at Chandler that he is going to grant Eddie's wish and put the title on the line at CGC Elimination on Friday, but that he should have been careful what he wished for because Alex is going to put an end to the Elite and destroy Chandler!. Chandler just flashed Alex an evil little smile as he is content that his plan has achieved what he wanted. Rating B+ The announcement of the match for the title at the Elimination PPV got a huge reaction from the fans and it looks like we were successful in building up some serious anticipation for this match. OVERALL SHOW RATING C TV RATING 4.51 Given our popularity level in the Quebec area , this show has to be considered a success, especially as with only an hour of television time, we were really only able to properly buildup the main event and the matches between the other DeColts and Elite stable members. Our tv ratings held steady, and hopefully the strong interest being generated by the war between the DeColts and the Elite will lead to a strong showing at this weeks PPV.

CGC ELIMINATION LIVE ON PPV From the SOLD OUT Kamloops Royal Athletic Park in British Columbia, Canada Friday Week 3 Jan 2007 Att: 15,000 PRE SHOW Announcer Rock Downpour welcomes the sold out crowd of 15,000 and the home audience on PPV to our first major event of the year. He states that there will be several major matches with all the titles on the line and the main event will see Alex DeColt defend the CGC World Championship against the man who attacked his father and his brother, Elite member Eddie Chandler. Rating C Good opening to build some hype for the main event. Ed Monton won a battle royal in 9:43. The final four competitors also included Dallas McWade, Nathan Black and Trent Shaffer, with Dallas McWade being the final elimination. Match Rating D+ The rest of the roster puts on an entertaining opening bout to warm up the crowd with veteran Ed Monton outlasting the field to take the win and get the shot at the CGC Canadian championship against whoever wins tonight's match. Dallas McWade makes a return appearance to CGC and has a strong showing as he last right till the end against Monton. Youngster Christian Price was also impressive with his performance as he showed a nice mixture of rumble and flying as well as a higher level of ring performance. Nathan Black and Zeus Maximillion also showed marked improvement in their ring performance. MAIN SHOW The champion Alex DeColt is shown backstage in the lockeroom with his father, the Commisioner George DeColt. The senior DeColt tells his son that as the commisioner, he must remain impartial in tonight's match , but as a father, he wants Alex to go out there and beat the living hell out of Eddie Chandler. Not just for his sake, but for the honor of the entire DeColt family. George tells his son that he needs to show Chandler, the Elite, and everyone in CGC that no one messes with the DeColts. Alex assures his father that Chandler will get the butt kicking of his life tonight and will be made to pay for ever having put his hands on Alex's father! Rating B Great segment to open the show which highlighted some of the backstory for the main event match as well as Alex DeColt's motivation to go after Eddie Chandler. The Soldiers Of Fortune defeated Youth Energy and The Specialists in 8:57; the order of elimination was Youth Energy first, and finally The Specialists. During the match we also had Dallas McWade run in and attack Shane Nelson. The Soldiers Of Fortune win the CGC World Tag Team titles. Match Rating D Nothing too exciting about the match itself, but it also didn't have much buildup. The Soldiers of Fortune showed their mercenary nature by bringing in hired gun Dallas McWade to help them prevail in this triple threat match. McWade's interference cost Youth Energy the belts and allowed the new version of the Soldiers of Fortune to capture the CGC World tag team titles. Although the match wasn't a barn burner, most of the participants showed some excellent effort. Shane Nelson and Destiny all showed greater technical wrestling and Bobby Thomas added some rumble style wrestling to his arsenal. Lee Rivera showed the greatest strides by mixing technical wrestling and brawling while displaying a greater repetoire of offense. Farrah Hesketh is backstage with Jenny Playmate and her new client, Steve Flash. Farrah asks Jenny why she is managing Steve Flash. Jenny replies that Flash is her uncle, and that he has agreed to return to CGC after a long absense and help her realize her dream of being a manager of champions. Jenny claims uncle Steve is the greatest wrestler she knows and with his skill and her guidance and familiarity with the wrestlers in CGC today, nothing can stop them from becoming the Canadian champion and maybe even the world champion one day. Rating D+ Steve Flash only lacks one thing from making him one of the best wrestlers in the world, and that is a lack of ability to excite a crowd by his promos. But some people can be taught to be competent at it and with Jenny's help, I beleive Flash can improve enough to at least be adequate at promos. Also the kayfabe relationship with Jenny sets up possible future angles. Grandmaster Phunk defeated Steve Flash in 10:29 by pinfall, illegally using the ropes for leverage. Match Rating C- Good match between these two. Not surprising since they are familiar with each other from NYCW. Flash seemed to be dominating most of the match with his greater ring skill, but Phunk showed his veteran experience as well by managing to steal a win by grabbing the ropes. Ryan Powell defeated Ricky DeColt in 15:07 by pinfall following interference from Jacob Jett. Ryan Powell makes defence number 1 of his CGC Canadian title. Match Rating C An entertaining House of fun style match where both wrestlers could utilize all of their highspots and aerial offense. Despite not seeming to be completely focused , Ricky DeColt was still very evenly matched with the champion Powell and the match could have gone either way until Jacob Jett made an appearance and knocked DeColt off the ring corner as he was going for a DeColt 45. Powell quickly took advantage and covered DeColt for the pin. Ricky demonstrated some nice growth as a wrestler by adding in some rumbling and technical moves to his normal high flying offense. The videotron monitor replays the events leading up to the main event for the audience. Recaps include Eddie Chandler's attack on George DeColt, his match with Jack DeColt two weeks ago and the tag match involving Eddie Chandler and Alex DeColt last week. Also shown is parts of the promos of Chandler demanding a title shot and blaming Alex and his father for the attacks and Alex swearing revenge on Chandler. Rating B Good montage that does a nice job of giving the audience an encapsulated summary of the feud between Alex DeColt and Eddie Chandler and should heighten anticipation for the main event. Hotstuff Marie is shown backstage with the latest edition of the CGC Monthly magazine. She talks about the informative articles detailing the long running rivalry between the DeColts and the Elite and then she mentions the spicy, revealing interview and pictures featuring her. She then urges the crowd and the home audience to go out and purchase the magazine so they can get all the inside information in CGC and see why Marie is called Hotstuff. Rating C+ Marie gets a nice pop from the audience for the segment, especially from the male contingent. Jack DeColt is interviewed backstage. He angrily states that John Maverick is going to pay for his part in the attacks that put him out two weeks ago. Jack says that his brother Alex will settle with Eddie Chandler and his brother Steve will destroy that bastard Dan DaLay, but that the "Silent Assassin" is all his tonight and that Maverick is going to feel some old fashioned DeColt justice! Rating B Jack sells his anger and desire for revenge very well as the first of the DeColt-Elite matches is next. Jack DeColt defeated John Maverick in 12:39 by submission with an End Of Days Match Rating C+ Jack is able to channel his anger to beat the submission machine Maverick at his own game and wear him down enough to make Maverick tap out to the End of Days. First round goes to the DeColts. A short video package airs showing some highlights involving action between Steve DeColt and Dan DaLay from last weeks tag match. Rating B Another good segment that does a nice job of continuing to build the DeColt-Elite war. Steve DeColt is now backstage being interviewed before his match. He says that the Elite started this war and that the DeColts are going to finish it. His brother Jack has already dealt with John Maverick and Alex will beat that smug smile off the face of Eddie Chandler later. But , Steve states, Dan DaLay is the one who is really going to pay tonight because he will have to answer to him Steve DeColt and the DeColts don't feel like being merciful! Rating B+ Another impassioned promo from one of the DeColt brothers amps up the crowd as Steve uses his natural charisma to make this seem like more than just another match. Steve DeColt defeated Dan DaLay in 14:41 by pinfall with a DeColt Stampede. Match Rating B- The second match of the DeColt -Elite trilogy delivers another solid match as both men bring a nice intensity to the bout. After a lot of back and forth action , Steve is finally able to put it away with a DeColt Stampede and the second round also goes to the DeColts. But the biggest fight is still to come. As Steve DeColt walks back up the entrance ramp, he sees Eddie Chandler emerging from the curtain. He steps in front of Chandler and for a moment it looks like they are going to come to blows right there in the entrance way. But then, Steve steps aside , saying that Alex will take care of Chandler. Chandler just sport a smug little smirk and then makes his way to the ring. Rating A An excellent tension filled moment that had the crowd on the edge of their seats until Steve DeColt ended the temporary face off. Eddie Chandler steps into the ring and grabs a microphone. He states that it is about time that the coward Alex DeColt finally showed some guts and put his world title on the line. And all it took was roughing up his decrepit old man and his loser brother to get Alex to grow a pair. He says that it is all Alex's fault for everything that has happened to his family recently and everything that is going to happen to them in the future. All he had to do was hand the belt over to Eddie Chandler and the Elite and the DeColts could have continued on their merry way, but now Chandler and the Elite are going to stop at nothing to destroy the DeColts once and for all. And the first strike will happen when Chandler takes the CGC World championship from Alex DeColt and brings it back to the Elite! Rating B+ Chandler keeps showing he is a top flight heel and expert at manipulating the crowd as his official declaration of war on the DeColts gets the sellout crowd erupting in a deafening series of boos. The anticipation for the main event is reaching a fever pitch. Alex DeColt is backstage with a microphone. He says that Eddie Chandler made the biggest mistake of his soon to be short life. He wanted Alex's attention, and now he has gotten it and is going to end up regretting ever wanting to face Alex in the first place. Alex tells Eddie he should have never laid his grubby hands on his father and for that Alex will never forgive or forget. If Chandler wants a war, Alex and the DeColts are happy to oblige. Despite what Chandler has claimed, everything that has happened so far is not Alex's fault, but the pain and destruction that is going to be inflicted on Chandler will be completely his fault and Chandler and all of the Elite are never going to forget the name of DeColt! Rating B+ Alex does a tremendous job himself of delivering a blisteringly intense promo and really sells this as a major grudge match. Eddie Chandler defeated Alex DeColt in 22:32 by disqualification. Match Rating B+ The night closes out with a fantastic main event as both men played this out as an all out war of hatred between them. They had the crowd on their feet with every twist and turn and near fall of the match. Near the end, Alex delivers a big powerslam on Eddie Chandler, but Chandlers feet catch the referee as he is coming down and knock him out of the ring. Chandler rolls out of the ring as well and as Alex goes to check on the referee, Chandler staggers over to the timekeeper table and grabs the championship belt. Alex rolls the referee back into the ring, but the ref is still groggy. Chandler climbs back into the ring and attempts to blast Alex with the belt. Alex manages to duck underneath and then kicks Chandler , causing Eddie to drop the belt. Alex looks down at the belt, and a look of sheer hatred comes over his face as he looks from the belt to Chandler. Alex then grabs the belt, winds up and slams it against the back of Chandler's head, dropping him like a rock to the mat. Unfortunately for Alex, the referee managed to recover enough to see DeColt blast Chandler with the title belt and has no choice but to call for the bell, disqualifying Alex and giving Eddie Chandler the win. Alex is intent on going after Chandler again, but the rest of the Elite come out to drag their fallen leader to the back as Steve and Jack run out to join Alex in the ring. Even though the DeColts are the ones left standing at the end of the night, it wasn't a decisive win and it looks like the war between the DeColts and the Elite is just getting started. OVERALL SHOW B+ A fantastic show that exceeded everyones expectations as this event could rival any major promotion for action and quality. The DeColt-Elite war has erupted into a major storyline that is capturing the fans across Canada if the reactions tonight are any indication. While it is only a beginning, this could be the first step in finally achieving equality with and then eventually surpassing NOTBPW.
